We're going to test that.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Like if every gadget
went away.
I still know how to process acredit card with like an old
piece of paper and a littlemachine, but I know all the tech
stuff too, so watch out.

The LG Wing Isn't that superold.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Let's ask the
millennial.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
I mean part of my
introduction, might even be
calling myself a dinosaur,possibly.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Well, who is this
dinosaur that's talking right
now?
I'm curious to know.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
This is Shauna, and
I'm your not-so-tech-savvy
Xenial who loves exploring howtechnology can impact our
well-being.
I want to look into and findstudies that talk about how
these technologies and socialmedia and things like that how
they impact our mental health, how we can be smarter, about how
we use all of thesetechnologies.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
I just got a voice
message in from another co-host
that'll be joining us onoccasion, so let me go ahead and
play this for you guys.
Her name is Maggie Thorne.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Hi, I'm Maggie Thorne
, an American Ninja Warrior.
I'll drop in to share some techwarrior insights to our
discussions.
Brian, do you want to tell us alittle bit about why you
decided to launch this podcast?
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Yeah, so the idea of
this podcast came from me.
Spending some time in themetaverse, meeting with other
business leaders andcollaborating with them, I
realized that during ourdiscussions we talked about what
we see as a future of businessand how we even use these
technologies.
Comes down to more opencollaboration with people in
(02:46):
different industries, and Istarted realizing that a lot of
us have similar thoughts aboutwhat we're doing right now how
these technologies might play inour life, like what the effects
might be, and some of them evenhad similar questions.
But not everybody is open totalk about those questions, and
the idea behind this podcast wasto create a place, a safe place
(03:10):
, where we can connect and shareand discuss the technology and
the digital platforms that weuse every day.
Now I do want to specify thatour goal isn't to have all the
answers.
It's more about us discussingthese things together and asking
more questions, using the ARTframework, which is something
that I created, which stands forAwareness, reflection and
(03:30):
Transformation, where we'regoing to take time, press pause
and pay attention to the thingsthat maybe are those gut checks,
that something doesn't feelright, and talking about it,
reflecting on it and thendiscussing how that might
transform how we move forward.
Now in our discussions, I wantto encourage everyone and
ourselves to ask more questions, because I've been learning that
(03:52):
sometimes the best answer to aquestion is another question.
This mindset will help usbecome more mindful and could
lead us to discovering moremeaningful insights into what,
why, when and how we use thesedigital platforms and
technologies.
Moving forward, what mindsetare you changing?
That's a really good question.
This is what I love is we wantto focus on asking more
(04:15):
questions.
When I say this mindset, whatI'm referring to is growing up
as a Gen Xer or a Gen X, I'vekind of lived in an era where we
didn't have all this digitaltechnology, and then that
technology came in, and now whathas happened is this technology
has almost gotten a lot of usin the mindset that we have to
(04:35):
be doing everything, that wehear all the voices outside
telling us we need to do when weneed to do it, how often we
need to do it, what we need todo, need to do it, how often we
need to do it, what we need todo, and it's it's this is a
challenge for us to step backand really look at our why and
make sure that what we're using, whatever platform it is, or how
we're using it and when we'reusing it, actually aligns with
(04:55):
who we are and what our purposeis.
That, whether that's in yourbusiness, whether that's even in
your personal life, it's allright not to do the norm.
You know what a lot of peoplesay.
These are the best practices, and I know Olivia knows that.
Saying a lot, but that doesn'talways mean it's the best for
everybody.
So let's be okay withquestioning things, talking
(05:16):
about those questions.
Does our mindset need to shifta little bit and be more mindful
of what we're doing on theseplatforms?
Speaker 2 (05:23):
I think that's what
one of my strengths will be is
challenging if we actually needthis new technology that we're
talking about or not.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
That's going to be
interesting because, honestly,
you don't even think you need tocharge your cell phone.
The only reason it gets chargedis because me or Ashton plugs
it in for you.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah, or I just need
to check something real quick,
so I'll plug it in long enoughto check what I need and then,
if it, dies, I don't care.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Oh gosh, that gives
me the heebie-jeebies thinking
about not having a charged cellphone.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
I think Shauna
believes she's setting a new hot
trend of cell phones, living at1%, maybe 3%.
That's like 3% is a new 100%.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
It's a new way of
looking at being a 1%-er.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Like 1%-er.
There you go.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Oh boy, there you go
With that.
