setting.

to a better way of living yourlife, one minute at a time.
I know it is hard to makechanges, it's tough to move

(00:48):
forward and sometimes you haveto wait to be ready.
But when you are, I am here andI would love to work with you
one-on-one.
For any of your hypnosis needs.
Go on over to CherylJReynolds.
com Change is possible, so let'stalk soon.
Welcome to the podcast.
So, as I was saying before, Ilove goal setting, especially

(01:12):
setting quarter goals.
To me, you're taking a bigproject and you're dropping into
bite-sized pieces and I justreally like the idea of every
quarter having these goals thathave been met and it's just
wonderful for my confidence.
And a little boost, boost,boost I can't talk today a boost
of dopamine.
But anyway, let's get startedinto how hypnosis could help

(01:36):
your goal setting so we can helpto solidify your goals.
And I like to say, when itcomes to goal setting, it's more
important to actually work onthe milestones and the process
instead of the actual goal.
We get very caught up in seeingthe big picture, which we need
to do, of course, to know wherewe're heading.
But it is easier to move alongthe steps, to move to the

(02:01):
milestones and to work theprocess.
Keep an eye on your goal anduse hypnosis to help you get
past the worry or the fear ofthe uncertainty of what you're
doing, because that's what getsus stuck.
And then, on top of all that, you wanna bring mindfulness in
as well, because mindfulnesswill help you to be present as

(02:26):
you're moving to your goal.
It will help you slow downenough to enjoy the steps you're
walking to get there and, ontop of that, it will just help
to solidify that what you'redoing is fun and exciting and
it's bringing you a newopportunity, because most goals
bring you forward, they step youup, they're creating change.

(02:51):
So this way, when you bringthat mindfulness in, it also
settles your mind In regards togoal setting, how about if you
would have do somethingdifferent?
So how about something alongthe lines of a reversed reversed
, I told you I can't talk today.
A reverse bucket list.

(03:12):
Now, anthony Brooks just wrote abook with Oprah I don't
remember the name of it, I willput it in the show notes, but
it's about happiness.
But he does what's called areverse bucket list and this is
when you write down all of youraccomplishments that you're
proud of and you focus on them, and that kind of helps to get

(03:33):
you excited and it also showsyou the possibilities and what
you have done and how far youhave come.
And it will also kind of helpyou just to feel as though
you're proud of what you'veaccomplished, because we tend to
forget.
I can even think back tosomebody saying, well, what have

(03:55):
you done over the past coupleof months?
And I'm like I'm not them andlike, seriously, I forgot.
I wrote a book like hello, Truestory.
So another suggestion I have forgoal setting is give yourself
extra time.
Things tend to take a littlebit longer than what is to be
expected and if you miss adeadline, it is not punishment,

(04:16):
it's just a reassessment.
Use your hypnosis tools.
I'm going to give you a nicelittle meditation that you can
use to keep you on track, butthis will also help you to kind
of keep you know yourselffocused on moving forward and
have fun, again, have fun.
I am also going to tag anotherepisode in the show notes where

(04:38):
I'm going to be talking about away to get moving if you get
stuck, and that's and that'sanother suggestion from another
um inspirational coach namedAnthony Trucks, and I will put
that episode in the show notesas well.
So let's do a mini meditationfor you slash hypnosis

(05:00):
meditation for your goal setting.
If you are driving, pause ithere.
If you are making dinner, pauseit here.
I don't want you to do anythingwith any heavy machinery.
All we need to do to do this isto sit back, close your eyes
and listen to my voice.
So, as you listen to my voice, let your mind become spacious,

(05:23):
and you can do that by justfocusing on what I'm saying.
So, in your mind, I want you tothink of your goal, nothing
more than just a statement of.
I want to complete X, y, z andby the date, and just hold that
image for a second.

(05:46):
Now I want you to just lend meyour imagination.
You don't have to visualize oryou don't have to put it in your
mind's eye.
It's no different than if Iwere to ask you to visualize
what an apple looks like.
You know what an apple lookslike.
It's the same thing, nothingdifferent than that.
But just imagine you're at thebottom of the mountain and
you're in your best shape ever.

(06:13):
So you start moving up thismountain, knowing that you're
going to move up to your goal.
But along the way you're goingto reach a few milestones, a few
markers that let you knowyou're on the right path.
They could be anything a timemarker, a completion marker,
they could be a sign.
People can be standing there, whatever is right for you.

(06:36):
And as you begin walking up andup this mountain, you feel safe
and free and you're able tojust enjoy your walk.
And you come to your firstmarker.
You notice it and you celebrate, and then you continue on.

(07:03):
But by this time you stophalfway up this mountain and you
turn around and you notice thebeautiful, majestic picture that
is in front of you.
It could be the mountain or thesky, sunset or sunrise,

(07:27):
whatever is right for you andyou notice it and you take it
all in and it gives you moreenergy and more enthusiasm as
you continue on your journey.
You move, walking along and youhit your next marker and you
celebrate and you continuewalking and then you notice

(07:54):
something really cool, somethingreally exciting, and you stop
and it brings you a sense ofdelight, it just opens up your
senses and then you continue onyour path.
The path is clear, yourmilestone is ahead and as you

(08:19):
reach it you celebrate again, but this time you take a moment
to really let the celebrationsink in and you give a moment of
thanks.
You walk some more up themountain, around the mountain,

(08:43):
and you just focus on how goodthe walk feels, walking along,
continuing on One more milestone, you stop and you celebrate
again, but this time your goalis the next step.

(09:07):
You take a deep breath in andyou exhale and you continue on.
You're on the home stretch, ashort walk away.
Your excitement builds but youtemper it because the view up

(09:29):
here is amazing and you take itin and all its glory.
And then you notice your goal.
You're excited and thrilled andmotivated and it feels so good

(09:51):
to have hit this goal and I wantyou, for a moment, just to step
into that goal and see yourselfbeing, feeling and seeing
whatever that goal will bring toyou.

(10:12):
Wear it as if you're alreadythere, it's already taken place.
You've got your goal.
You're standing up tall, you'reconfident, you're excited and

(10:37):
you are so damn proud ofyourself and just put a smile on
your face.
So now you begin to descenddown the mountain, around the

(10:59):
mountain, moving past yourmilestones, giving a nod of
thanks all the way down to yourstanding in the same place you
were when you began your journey.
But this time you feeldifferent.
You're standing up taller, you're feeling more empowered

(11:26):
and more confident because youhave reached your goal.
You're holding it, you'refeeling it, it's like you're
wearing it and it feels so goodand you celebrate, and the last

(11:52):
thing you do is put a big smileon your face, knowing that you
can reach this goal with ease.
Take a deep breath in and exhale.
Thank you for listening to thismini meditation.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
