I'm taking you on a journey to break free from your habitual patterns.
Drawing from the wisdom and life journey of Anthony Trucks, a former NFL player who turned his life around after a life-changing injury, we'll explore ways to push beyond our usual stopping points and challenge ourselves to persevere for just three more weeks.

The power to change our lives lies within our minds, and it's time we learn how to harness it.

Welcome to Mindful Hypnosis.
I am Cheryl, your host.
It is interesting that I amtalking about finishing a
project that you start when Ihave literally taped this

(01:56):
episode four times.
Just for some reason, if onetime I taped it didn't have my
volume on, another time I tapedit it sounded like crap.
So this is the fourth time andhopefully this is a charm.
Again, there was a part of methat thought, well, maybe I
should just not even bothertaping it, but I feel it is very
important because it is.

(02:16):
It's very rare when you get onetechnique Okay, let me back
that up, it's not rare, cause Ihave plenty of one techniques
that work great for a lot ofthings.
But when you're listening to apodcast or you're listening to a
coach or somebody who'sinspiring, and they give you one
thing and you're like whoa, whydidn't I think of that?

(02:37):
When you are ready to quit, youhave a project, exercise program
, a habit, anything of the sorts, and you decide that you are
just done, you've hit the wall, you can't do it anymore and you
want to quit.
You're frustrated, you'reoverwhelmed, you're
procrastinating all thededication and time you put into

(02:58):
it.
You don't care.
You'll start over again whenyou start over again, it will be
better, everything will workout.
But this is not working.
Please don't quit.
I always say in order to expandyourself, in order to grow, you
cannot do so without getting outof your comfort zone.
When you're in your comfortzone, you're safe and you're

(03:19):
secure, but you're also notmaking progress, because there
is no progress that gets made inyour comfort zone.
Again, doing the same thingover and over again and
expecting a different results isthe same thing as saying if you
keep doing what you've beendoing, you're not gonna get
anywhere.
It's not gonna happen.
Your comfort zone is meant tokeep you comfortable.

(03:40):
It's not meant to move youforward.
So there is always going to bediscomfort when you have to get
out of your comfort zone.
That's why they call it acomfort zone, and how you deal
with this discomfort makes allthe difference in the world.
You can struggle alone or youcan find motivation.
You can have a friend help youout.

(04:02):
You can find a coach.
You can do whatever you want.
This isn't about how to do it.
It's the one thing I want youto do.
And the one thing I want you todo is I don't want you to stop.
The coach who talked about thisis a man called Anthony Trucks.
He was an NFL player andapparently a very good one, very

(04:22):
motivated, came from a horriblefamily situation and he made it
big.
And then he had a life changinginjury and he couldn't do
football anymore and he became acoach, and he said the one
thing that you need to do inorder to break this habit of
stopping is I want you tocontinue on for three more weeks
.
Now I know it seems like a longtime, but the reason you need

(04:46):
to do this is you need to pushbeyond your normal threshold of
stopping.
We are creatures of habit andsome people have a long time
prayer before they give up andsome have a very short one, and
I don't wherever yours sits.
Look back, because you'reprobably recognize it.

(05:07):
It's one of the main reasonswhy you know we have semesters
as opposed to going to collegefor a full year.
You know your attention spanwanes, your excitement wanes,
your ability to be excited aboutsomething starts to decrease,
and if they don't keep it short, then people will tend to give

(05:29):
up, and over time, our attentionspan has also decreased.
But when something means a lotto you and you want to continue
on.
You're still, even if it'ssomething that you're really
passionate about and you reallywant to make this work, you are
still going to hit blocks alongthe way and if those blocks will

(05:51):
are big enough, they're goingto reroute you back to the
beginning again.
So make the commitment that youwill continue on for another
three weeks, and I don't meanprocrastinating or thinking
about it.
I mean actually continuing onwith your project, pushing
through the difficulties youfeel, pushing through the
uncomfortableness that you feel, pushing through the anxiety and

(06:13):
the fears that you feel.
And hey, you want help with allthat.
I got hypnosis, so you're good.
But if you don't push through, you're going to continue the
habit of stopping and startingover again.
So how do you do this?
Start off small, just startwith pushing through till
tomorrow and then, once you hittomorrow, push through to the

(06:36):
next day.
And just imagine how empoweringit will be when you look back
and you thought to yourself wow,I was going to give up, but
I've done it another week.
It is very empowering and it isvery satisfying to know that
you have the ability to do this, because now you know that you
can finish what you started andnow you know when you look back

(06:58):
you can look back with delightgoing, yeah, okay, I can do this
.
And the other thing I think isreally important is there are
going to be projects or you knowthings that you're working on
that are just not going to be agood fit for you and it is
something that you definitelygoing to have to let go of.
But doing this for three moreweeks it kind of solidifying

(07:23):
your mind that hey, I did thisproject, I tried this, I even
continued on grudgingly throughanother three weeks and it
didn't work out.
Then you can go back knowingthat you gave it your all, that
you went above and beyond allthat you could, and so there is

(07:44):
less feeling of unfinishedbusiness or regret and that kind
of helps to resolve it in yourmind that it is okay to let it
go, because all projects that wehave that we started we didn't
finish, all those things thatare just kind of in our mind.
They're unfinished loops and welike to be able to close them.

(08:06):
You know we can even have anunfinished loop from a series on
TV that we never finished, fromthe crocheted afghan that's
been in the cupboard for threeyears, from a book we were
writing, that we never finishedmy project.
We started that we never gotdone, from looking over at the

(08:26):
corner of our room and seeing anexercise bike that we never hop
on.
We have a lot of unfinishedloops and we're not gonna close
them all, and that's okay.
But if you continue on for thosethree more weeks at least
you'll be able to close thisloop.
You'll be able to either finishyour project and you never know
when three weeks comes along.

(08:47):
And now you're at the pointwhere you've gotten to three
weeks, you make a decisioncontinue on for three more weeks
, make it short, make it sweet, break that habit of starting and
stopping things at the sametime.
This can be very powerful.
It's worked for me and it'sworked for others.
I am gonna leave Anthony'sinformation in the show notes,
