works very well for any kind ofanxiety you may have Anxiety
that you get at Sunday nightthinking about going to work on

(01:04):
Monday morning, the anxiety youget just because it's the
holiday season.
Or perhaps you're just soexcited to hang out with your
in-laws and you're starting tofeel a little bit of that
anxiety creeping.
Give this technique a try.
It takes less than two minutesand it is very powerful.

Welcome to Mindful HypnosisPodcast.
I am your host, cheryl.
You will notice on every episodethat I mention a sprinkle of
mindfulness.
I actually think it's in myintro, but I'm not sure.

(01:48):
I'd have to go back and check.
It's definitely one of theconsistent things I do and to me
a sprinkle is a tiny bit.
It's kind of like a micro doseof mindfulness, and for me,
sprinkles are usually added tosomething.
They give something flavor, they give something
intentionality and they justmake things better.

(02:12):
And when you add a sprinkle ofmindfulness, you're pretty much
doing the same thing to small, insignificant, tiny things in
your life that you may notnecessarily pay attention to all
of a sudden have meaning andthey have this appreciation
underneath them as well.
So when I think of sprinkles, Ithink of sprinkles on cupcakes

(02:35):
and sprinkles on ice cream andeven sprinkles like sprinkles of
confetti or even sprinkles ofrain.
It's just a delicate way oflooking at something that really
puts us in a state of awe.
We don't realize how manymilestones we miss and how many

(02:59):
experiences just get brushedaway because we were on our
phone at the time or we weretalking to somebody else.
We're watching the TV and weweren't being present.
So when I talk about sprinklesof mindfulness, I'm actually
talking about bringing inmindfulness small amounts, micro
amounts, throughout your day,in the morning, when you wake up

(03:20):
before you go to bed at nighttalking to a friend petting your
cat, you know, sitting at alight and just waiting for it to
change.
You can bring mindfulness intoall of these experiences and you
can do it with just littledoses of mindfulness.
It's funny because I often thinkof when I think of sprinkles, I
often think of this time ofyear and sprinkles and

(03:42):
snowflakes.
You know you never have thesame sprinkle and you never have
the same snowflake.
You know sprinkles are all onthe cookies and you got like you
know sprinkles of, you knowfairy dust all over the place
and you got just it's lit upwith lights that twinkle and

(04:02):
sprinkle.
For sprinkles, more thananything, sprinkles come with a
sense of celebration and loveand when you sprinkle
mindfulness during this time ofyear, you're kind of sprinkling
in the whimsical and the magical.
And you know sprinkles are tinyand they're delicate but yet

(04:23):
they pack a punch.
A cupcake doesn't look the samewithout sprinkles.
A Christmas village doesn'tlook the same without a bunch of
glitter that just lights upunder the Christmas lights and
it's.
It's taking these small moments, even going outside for the
first snowfall of the season andallowing yourself to sit in the

(04:48):
silence and just be present.
It's an amazing feeling.
When you do that, the momentbecomes a moment of joy and
settling in with family andfriends.
When your mindful changeseverything, these experiences
become more colorful and moreagain intentional.

(05:11):
I want you to give this a tryand if you're wondering where
this came from years ago I meanback in like 2011, when I was
still running one of myspiritual groups I was bringing
in this one minute ofmindfulness and this one minute
of mindfulness became what I did.
It was kind of my thing, andthis also carried over to work
with my clients, and then italso carried over into having a

(05:34):
podcast before this one calledone minute of mindfulness,
because I felt if I could teachpeople these tiny little doses
of mindfulness less than oneminute, it will literally start
to change your brain and youwill also start to shift into
mindfulness easier.
Try it for 30 seconds, try itfor a minute, do this throughout

(05:57):
the day and just allow yourselfto become present and mindful,
not to worry if you're doing itright.
The whole idea behind beingpresent is just to be in the
moment with what you're doing,to be aware, to be present, to
be right there.
Thank you, see.
I also needed to do this formyself, because I am an

(06:20):
over-thinker and I can get in myhead and stay there, and I also
chase, you know, shiny objectsand squirrels.
So for me, learning how to bemindful is so important.
It just settles my nerves andcalms me down.
It also definitely doesdecrease anxiety and stress,
because your brain doesn't dotwo things at once and it's

(06:44):
impossible to be Thinking andoverthinking and over analyzing
when you're mindful, you can't.
You're either present or you'reoverthinking.
You're not going to do both.
So Give this a try.
Start with the little moments.
There could be anything andjust as some sprinkles
throughout the day, and I wouldsuggest that you find one thing

(07:08):
where, underneath it, you havesome appreciation and gratitude,
attitude, and that is the oneplace where you can start.
For me, it's my cats.
I can be very mindful with mycats.
I also find my cup of coffee, which you know.
I love my coffee.
I love my cats, yes, me and mycoffee.
I know because when I drink mycoffee, I can bring in all of my

(07:32):
sensors.
I can get caught up into thesmell and the sight and the
taste and and the feel of thecup and the warmth of the cup,
and so it's always been my go-towhenever I really need to
become mindful and present.
I'm having a hard time, so Ileave you with this.
Where in your life Can you findthat little bit of mindfulness,

(07:54):
that sprinkle of mindfulness, that tiny little, delicate bit
of mindfulness?
Again, find the one thing thatyou have appreciation for, and
start there, becauseAppreciation is the gateway to
mindfulness.
I'm gonna leave you with thisquote.
It is a funny thing about lifeonce you begin to take note of

(08:16):
the things you are Grateful for,you begin to lose sight of the
things you lack.
That is from Germany, kent.
So sprinkle that mindfulnessthroughout your day and Enjoy
your holiday season, and I willtalk to you soon.
Take a big, deep breath in andexhale.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
