Welcome to the podcast.
This is kind of a fun episodeand I just wanted to share with
you some of the powerful sayingsand thoughts behind Yodha and
his principles.
Now, first off, I am not likean expert Star Wars person, so
(01:30):
this is based on my beliefs, sodon't throw me any shade here.
Okay, be nice.
First off, yodha kind of basedon the Jedi's way of
non-attachment.
This basically means thatthey're not allowed to be
emotionally attached to anythingor anyone, because attachment
(01:53):
leads to fear and fear leads toloss and loss leads to the dark
side.
And it's kind of similar toBuddha's principles to where any
attachment leads to suffering.
And when we think of the wordsuffering, we tend to think of
suffering in the context ofreligious suffering, and it's
(02:14):
really not that.
Any thinking that is nothelpful is suffering.
We all suffer, no matter what.
Life in itself causesdifficulties.
It's life, is life, and you'regonna suffer.
That's kind of what it means ina nutshell.
So let me bring you to fivedifferent sayings and what I
believe they mean and how youcan apply this to your life as
(02:35):
well.
The number one no try, not do ordo not.
There is no try.
This basically means that thereis no middle ground.
You either do it or you don't.
And think of the energy behindthe word try.
(02:55):
Okay, I'll try.
It sounds so indecisive, sowishy-washy.
It kind of acts like you're notgonna give you a best effort,
You're just gonna try where, ifyou go, yes, I will.
It brings more power, it makesmore directness, or no, I won't.
It brings in boundaries.
(03:16):
This whole first one is kind ofaround the idea that make up
your mind, make a decision.
Number two you must unlearnwhat you have learned.
This is probably my favorite.
It tends to mean that we havebeliefs and sometimes our
beliefs are not congruent withwhat we know to be true and we
(03:39):
have to unlearn them.
And sometimes we also learn badhabits and we have to unlearn
them.
And as a hypnotist, I have tounhypnotize people from the
difficulties that they're having.
Number three you will find onlywhat you bring in.
This is all about innerreflection and inner knowing,
(04:02):
and what you bring in reflectsback and out to the world.
Is how I see this.
So if you bring in mindfulness, you will find mindfulness.
If you bring in hate, you willfind hate.
So be careful what you let comeinto your life, because it will
expand within you and aroundyou.
(04:24):
Number four difficult to see, always in motion, is the future.
To me, this represents the ideathat the future does not exist.
It is a concept, it issomething that we project onto,
but yet the future is always now.
We are always stepping into thefuture right now.
(04:48):
Number five If no mistake youhave made, losing you are a
different game you should play.
We are all gonna make mistakesand if you do something without
making a mistake, you're nevergonna grow, you're never gonna
expand.
There are sometimes blessingsin our difficulties and our
(05:12):
mistakes.
You learn so much when you makethem.
We don't wanna make them, butwe all do.
But you grow by that becauseyou learn a different way and a
different way of seeing andbelieving something.
And if you're so careful aboutmaking mistakes, you're not
gonna take chances and you'renot gonna allow yourself to do
(05:34):
something that you should dobecause you're worried about
making a mistake.
So I like that one just as much.
Now, on top of all these, one ofthe main Yoda principles is to
be mindful, to be present andaware, to step into the beauty
of the moment without judgment, without analyzing, without
(05:57):
overthinking it.
Because if you're judging andyou're analyzing and you're
overthinking I've said thisbefore you're not being mindful.
I am sitting here at my deskand I paused for a moment to
look outside and I just watchedsomebody run by with their dog
and I just watched them.
I wasn't thinking what he wasdoing, where he was going, what
(06:18):
the dog was thinking, I justwatched and it just takes you
out and it just brings you intothe simplicity that we think
life can't be, and that is agreat blessing as well.
So take these five ideas, decide how you may believe and
work the Jedi master's wisdom, and take it all with a grain of
(06:42):
salt.
This was meant to be fun, butalso to give you a little bit of
insight, because you can getjust as much insight from Yoda
as you can from Kung Fu Panda'swisdom, and I will leave you
with this wisdom right now.
Yesterday is history, tomorrowis a mystery, but today is a
gift.
That is why it is called thepresent.
(07:03):
Take a big, deep breath in andexhale.
