Ever found yourself asking, "Who am I beneath all these shifting emotions?"
This year, my own query into authenticity led me to the most critical revelation of my life—finding congruence in who I am.

Through my own experiences, including the struggles of writing a book and navigating a transformative coaching course, I unearthed the power of flipping challenges into opportunities for growth.

As the year winds down, it's natural to reflect on our paths and who we've inspired or been inspired by.
This session is more than a year-end contemplation; it's a guide to self-appreciation and discovering the core of your being. I'll share how selecting a 'Word of the Year' has been a game-changer and encourage you to explore this practice.
So let's embark on a Mindful Hypnosis journey together to uncover your most congruent self and set the stage for a year that outshines the last.

Thank you so much.
I really appreciate youlistening.
Welcome to Mindful Hypnosis.
My name is Cheryl and I am yourhost.
I was going to do an episode onthree lessons I learned in 2023
and you know a wrap up of 2023and I decided to keep it simple

(01:24):
because I really wanted tostretch myself and to come up
with the strongest message thatI have from 2023.
And it all comes down to beingcongruent, to stepping into who
you really are as a person.
This isn't the anxious person, the fearful person, this isn't

(01:45):
the argumentative person or thenegative person, because those
are emotional states, andemotional states change.
You can wake up in the morningand be happy, you can go to bed,
piss, to shit the emotionalstates.
But underneath all thoseemotional states is the person
you are.
It is your highest intention, your highest ideal.

(02:08):
It is the person who risesabove all of these difficulties,
who rides the wave of all thesedifficulties.
And when you become congruent, you know who you are and you
learn to look at your faults orquote unquote defects or
difficulties, not as a crux tobear but as part of your journey

(02:29):
, and you learn how to takethose situations and flip them
over.
I'll give you an example.
Part of who I was for so manyyears was my anxiety general
anxiety Anxious going to work, anxious coming home from work.
I mean I would be anxious to goto visit family members, even
anxious driving.

(02:49):
I learned and conquered allthat.
But then I also took theunderstanding of being anxious
and how it felt and I was ableto turn it into something
positive, and that's where mycoaching comes in.
So I would suggest for you justto sit down and to really look
underneath of all of theemotions that you have and all

(03:12):
of the difficulties, and eventhe winds and the good things.
But look underneath all thatand who are you when you are at
your most congruent?
Who are you when you are atyour best?
Who are you?
Who do you inspire and whoinspires you?
And I found this past year thatI was looking at that.

(03:35):
You know, when I was writing mybook, I was looking for the
inspiration of others and how tonavigate something I've never
done before.
And then, earlier in this year,I also took a powerful coaching
course that upleveled mycoaching beyond infinity and
that taught me a lot about who Iwas as well, because I had to
step into that program withuncomfortableness.

(03:57):
I wasn't comfortable to be in aprogram where, all of a sudden,
I'm the newbie again.
That's uncomfortable, but I hadto step into that and I learned
a lot about myself.
I learned what presses mybuttons and what I'm good at and
what I'm bad at, and in the endit all comes down to who am I
Like?
Why am I here?

(04:18):
I'm not trying to get allwoo-woo, but the question pops
up especially when it comes tothe end of the year, because
we're doing a lot of evaluation,we're looking at what we've
done this past year, we'rematching this past year to our
previous years and we're alwaysevaluating and judging ourselves
.
And I want you to step out ofthat for a minute and, instead
of judging yourself, appreciateyourself and ask this question

(04:43):
what is beneath all of that, allof that emotion, all of that
face you put out to others?
What is the real you and whatdo you need to make your next
year better than this year?
Now I'll also share with youthat a couple years ago I did a
Word of the Year.

(05:04):
That podcast is episode 10.
If you want to create your Wordof the Year for intention for
next year, go check it out.
I want you to have a wonderful2024 and I want you to step into
it with the intention of reallycoming out, so to speak, to who
you really are and to embracethat part of you, to embrace the

(05:28):
ability to be authentic.
It is easy to just go about ourlife, kind of going along and
getting along, and sometimes weneed to just step out and say
who we are and what we believein and what our values are and
what our motivations are andwhat we desire, and it's not
selfish.

(05:49):
If anything, it is raising yourplatform and that allows other
people to see you as theirmotivation and their inspiration
.
It all circles back aroundagain.
All right, that's all for thisepisode.
I hope you have a wonderful dayand a wonderful New Year and I
will see you next year.

(06:10):
Take a deep breath in and exhale.
By the way, you are awesome.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
