We're celebrating! Not only are we launching Season 6, but also the 180th episode! Here to equip you with mindfulness strategies to help you thrive, starting with just 5 minutes a day.

Ever wonder if the relentless climb up the career ladder was supposed to feel this draining? You're not alone. The 180th episode of Mindful in 5 launches Season 6 with a powerful reset for professionals caught in the achievement-without-fulfillment trap.

This season introduces a framework based on the "zone of proximal development" – that sweet spot between what you can do alone and what seems impossible. We'll guide you through three developmental phases:

  • Dark (when overwhelm threatens to consume you),
  • Dawn (when you're ready to grow but need guidance), and
  • Day (when you're maximizing your thriving potential).

Each phase offers targeted five-minute mindfulness practices that transform how you show up professionally without adding to your overwhelming to-do list.

What makes this approach different? It's designed specifically for high-performers who need practical, science-backed techniques that work in real-world environments.

The stakes couldn't be higher. You can continue feeling like work is happening to you, or you can take control of how you show up. The choice is yours. Join thousands of professionals who've discovered that starting with just five minutes of daily practice can create measurable differences in peace, focus, and leadership presence.

Your journey to becoming a mindful ninja starts now – because you're not just building a career, you're building a life worth living. Ready to elevate your work and empower your life? Let's make this season transformational.

Join me and your fellow mindfulninjas as we explore
science-backed mindfulnessstrategies for successful
leaders that you can implement, starting with just five minutes

(00:49):
a day.
Elevate your work, empower yourlife, work higher, live
stronger.
Let's go!Well, hi there and welcome to
the Mindful in 5, Season 6,Kickoff.
Yes, this is the podcast wherewe explore five-minute

(01:27):
mindfulness for busyprofessionals just like you, and
you know what else we'recelebrating today.
This is our 180th episode.

(02:31):
Yes, and speaking of you, because you are our favorite
topic, when did you?
Yes, to ask yourself if yourdaily grind is actually leading
you toward the life you want?
Think about whether any of thissounds like your life.
You wake up each Monday feelinglike you're running on a
hamster wheel.
The emails never stop, themeetings multiply and somewhere

(02:55):
between your commute and yourevening collapse.
You wonder if this is whatsuccess is supposed to feel like
.
You're achieving, but you'renot thriving, but you're not
thriving.
In fact, you know what?
Here's the thing.
This is actually why I startedthe Mindful in 5 body of work,

(03:17):
because I had one too manylawyers.
I'm a lawyer, so I talk to lotsof lawyers.
One too many lawyers, one toomany vice presidents, one too
many senior leaders say gosh.
I thought I spent my wholecareer trying to get to this

(03:38):
stage.
And now that I'm here I'mlooking around like, wow, this
is super stressful.
Is this all there is?
I haven't seen my kids inforever.
My husband is grumbling, or mywife, my spouse, my partner is
grumbling because they never seeme.
I don't have time to do thethings that feed me and I'm

(04:01):
asking myself is this all thereis?
Because all I see in front ofme is a whole lot of stress and
a lot of pressure.
So, enter Mindful in 5.
Because in my head I keptthinking I think I have
something that can help and Iwas casting about and I was

(04:22):
seeing lots of mindfulnesscontent out there in the general
public, but I wasn't seeing thekind of content that I wanted
to create for busy professionals, to really help you thrive, by
not just harnessing the power ofmindfulness meditation but also

(04:43):
applying it very specificallyto the workplace.
And so, as we launch season six.
I am excited that this isexactly the kind of stuff that
we are going to dive into thisseason in a sharper and more
focused way.
In a sharper and more focusedway, and we're really going to

(05:10):
look for ways to help you copebetter and to help you not just
survive your daily grind, but tothrive and, ideally, not even
have it feel like it's a grind.
How nice would that be, right?
Yes, so let's take thisopportunity as we come into the

(05:37):
new season of Mindful in 5.
Let's take this as anopportunity for you to reset
your purpose.
For the past five seasons, Ihave walked alongside thousands
of professionals who feltexactly like this.
They thought mindfulness wasjust another item on their to-do

(05:59):
list until they discovered itcould be their competitive
advantage.
So here is your plan.
So here is your plan thisseason we are diving deep into
the zone of proximal development.
You might have also heard itreferred to as the learning zone

(06:26):
.
It is a concept fromeducational psychology that
identifies the sweet spotbetween what you can do alone
and what seems impossible.
In fact, you may also rememberthat I have written, as I record
this, before mindful, in fivebooks that have been published
and are available on Amazon.

(06:47):
You can find them under my nameor you can find them if you
look for Mindful in 5.
But the Mindful in 5 books areactually patterned loosely after
this concept in what I call inthe books three seasons.
Dark season this is when you areoverwhelmed.

(07:08):
This is when you areoverwhelmed, stressed or facing
challenges.
We will, over the course of thenext 38 weeks or so between now
and Labor Day 2026, we willexplore techniques that help you
survive and find stability evenin your dark season.
The next season is called dawn.

(07:30):
This is when you're ready togrow but need guidance.
Maybe you have a new role,Maybe you got a promotion, Maybe
you have a new job, Maybe youhave something new that's
happened in your household thatyou have to manage alongside the
job, and these practices helpyou build confidence and develop

(07:51):
new skills.
Then we have the day season, when you are thriving and want
to maximize your potential, andsometimes in the day season, you
might actually feel a littlebit bored, like I totally got
this.
Maybe I need a new adventure, but these techniques help you

(08:12):
lead, innovate and inspireothers.
Even so, what does success looklike?
Well, between now and the endof Season 6, you will have a
toolkit of five-minutetechniques that transform your
workday from chaotic to centered.

(08:32):
You will learn constructiveways to respond instead of react
, lead with clarity instead ofconfusion and end each day
knowing you showed up as yourbest self.
This kind of transformation willnot happen automatically.
It will take your commitment togiving yourself daily time

(09:00):
ideally starting with just fiveminutes a day to go within,
center yourself and be fullypresent with yourself.
We will discuss how to do thisthroughout the season.
This season also includespowerful interviews with guests

(09:22):
who will share differentperspectives to help you along
your way.
We will start with LatanyaLangley.
She is Chief People Officer,Chief Legal Officer and
Corporate Secretary of EdgewellPersonal Care.
I could not think of a betterperson to kick off our season of

(09:46):
episodes where I'm encouragingyou to make time to take care of
yourself so that you will haveenough to pour into others and
to pour into all of the rolesand the hats that you have to
wear every day.
Latanya will be exploring howyour inner voice shapes your

(10:07):
outer success how your InnerVoice Shapes your Outer Success.
I think this pair of interviewsis really going to be
enlightening for you, and it isour intention and our hope that
you find some things that youtake away from this conversation
to really change your life andhow you approach that inner

(10:29):
stillness and just allowingyourself to be guided by that
inner voice.
I have other special guestslined up for the season.
I am selective about who I haveon this show, and so stay tuned
because I think they will helpyou think broadly about how to

(10:54):
tackle the everyday challengesthat you encounter in life.
So what is at stake for you inseason six?
Well, you can certainlycontinue feeling like work is
happening to you or you can takecontrol of how you show up.

(11:14):
The choice is yours and thepower is yours, always yours.
So your next steps after thisepisode commit to giving
yourself time for self-care andself-reflection with us and your

(11:35):
fellow mindful ninjas andthriving leaders over the next
38 weeks.
I promise you that if you getinto the habit and you actually
learn to center yourselfeffectively, all the science
demonstrates that you willexperience a difference in the
peace, clarity and focus thatcomes, the lower stress levels.

(11:59):
This isn't just BUSAing it andit's not just because I have
been practicing mindfulnessmeditation for over two decades
and I can personally vouch forits effectiveness, but there is
a growing body of scientificdata that proves it out, and
this is, frankly, exactly why somany organizations are plugging

(12:22):
mindfulness into their wellnesscurricula, because so many of
us know and understand its truevalue.
You are not just building acareer, you are building a life.
The point of mindfulness, candidly, is not so that you get

(12:43):
better at mindfulness, but toelevate your work and empower
your life.

Meditations for people with notime, and it has five-day,

(13:31):

the dawn, dark and day periods.
And rather than just lecturingyou about how to do it, we use
fictitious characters that arehaving real life issues like
divorce and financial issues andfamily drama and empty nester

(13:52):
syndrome.
And how are we going to makethis marriage work?
Do we even like each other?
I don't know, Because those arethe things that happen to us in
our lives.
