S6 Ep1: 'SAS: Who Dares Wins' leader Mark 'Billy' Billingham MBE on always pushing yourself further

My guest today on Mindset Unfiltered podcast is Mark Billingham MBE - otherwise known as 'Billy'. 

His life began as a tearaway kid on the streets of Walsall - a world that saw him face death twice before he was 16. Knowing that the world was unlikely to improve for him there, he made a choice. He turned his life around when he joined the Parachute Regiment in 1983, before completing the gruelling selection process to join the SAS in 91 as a Mountain Troop specialist.

This decorated war hero who spent 27 years in the armed forces, received an MBE for leading the mission in Iraq to rescue a Brit hostage. He also won the Queen's Commendation for Bravery after capturing an IRA sniper by using himself as bait. Mark was one of the highest ranks in the SAS - Warrant Officer Class 1.

After his time in the SAS he became bodyguard to some of the most famous A-listers including Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Russell Crowe and Tom Cruise and has appeared in various films alongside the likes of Ray Winstone and Idris Elba

Doors opened in the most unlikely of ways and now Mark is the leading taskmaster on C4's gruelling show, SAS: Who Dares Wins.

His two books: The Hard Way and Call To Kill have had huge success and his third is in creation
.
Not only that but Mark is giving back. After the devastation of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti REBUILD globally was born. The charity, with Mark as ambassador, is embarking on a mission to provide a sustainable, entrepreneurial solutions for survivors. Marks mantra is 'Always a little further' meaning to always go that little bit further than you think you can, don’t put yourself down, don’t let anybody else put you down. Give it a go, and even if you don’t get to your goal, you’ll definitely be in a better place than when you started that’s for sure
