Hello everyone and welcome to a new episode of MIND unplugged. You tuned in today for a fantastic episode about life and negotiation. Today I have the pleasure of talking to Mr Derek Gaunt; Derek is a lecturer, a coach and the author of Ego, Authority and Failure, which is an excellent book I have here by my side. Derek has a wealth of experience starting with 30 years in law enforcement out of which 20 years as a member, team leader and commander of hostage negotiation teams in the Washington DC area. He’s been instructing people all over the world on how to apply hostage negotiation tactics in their individual and business environments.
Today's episode is a very inspiring one; Derek shares with us his story behind the scenes and what got him into hostage negotiation and negotiation as a skill, part of his personal development. From learning how one can negotiate with oneself to applying negotiation techniques in the daily life.
Are they really negotiation techniques or are they simply just traits that we can learn and develop to enhance our lives and relationships in both personal and work environments?
