Everybody loves me, john okay everybody comes to

Stop it, stop it, okay, alrightfolks, alright folks, and let
us, get us back to our originalyeah, I think so.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
I think we've done this enough.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
I think it was fun it was fun, but now we gotta
return my throat really hurtsfrom doing Brandon's let's rate
each other's impressions.
I thought I thought everybodydid a really nice job.
Honestly, Paul, I thought youhad some really nice intonations
there Only at the beginning.
At the beginning.
I thought it was fantastic.
I thought that was great.
John, your impression of Paulwas really really good.
You nailed the.
Here's the deal.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Do I say here's the deal.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
And you do the what?
That was great, that wasfantastic.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
I spammed the what.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
When you say what to me and I don't make sense.
You're like what I never knew.
I did that, go for it.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
And then your impression, John, of me.
I thought was fantastic.
Thank you, you did a reallygood job.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Paul, I thought your stuff was great.
Brandon, you sucked.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Thank you, yeah, that sounds about right so yeah,
just don't do that again.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Paul, again, paul, you did amazing though honestly,
I'm really proud of you, bro.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Okay, now that we've established that, Are you saying
that because maybe it hit alittle too close to home?
Maybe it just kind of revealeda couple?
Things, brandon, I don't wantto talk Fair enough, all right,
so.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
Psych, would you like to hold my hand?

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Always Holy matrimony .

Speaker 2 (08:25):
No, I think you did great.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
I think you did really good at um personally,
but this actually shows peoplethat this is not easy to do no
lord, it's not easy to do well, and I think we all have our
individual strengths, and that'swhere we know we need to stay
in ourselves so we should neverdo this again so.
So you guys got a first hand, uh, what you know like alternate

(08:45):
reality, what could happen.
I'm sorry, I'm laughing becauseJohn was just staring into the
camera, just like I was doingearlier, unintentionally,
unintentionally, right, okay, soon to our actual topic.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Do we have an actual topic?

Speaker 1 (09:01):
We do we actually have something to impart to the
people, paul, so I think it wasreally Go ahead, brandon, okay,
I'm sorry, so here's, you know, paul, first of all, let me ask
you, yes, are you familiar withwhat a thirst trap is?

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Yes, I know what the term thirst trap means Okay,
what is Even at almost 60,.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
I didn't I know what it means okay and what into you.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
What is a thirst trap ?
I don't even know how todescribe it, except anyone can
be a thirst trap to someone else.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Okay, all right, so john, you obviously you can.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
You're a younger, but you can describe it better than
I can.
What's your?

Speaker 3 (09:40):
well as a retired thirst trapper, I actually know
this very well.
If any of you guys know me, youknow that I used to have a
TikTok and almost every TikTokwas actually a thirst trap.
Okay, this was four years ago.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
We'll preface.
We'll be playing it on thescreen right now.
No, we won't.
We're going to show one of yourTikToks.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
No.
Okay, not a good idea.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
No.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Bad idea.
However, thirst trapping iswhere you basically it's similar
to the term catfishing, whereyou try to look better than you
actually do and you try to poseas someone that you're kind of
not, which you're trying tothirst trap the other.
You're trying to trap someoneinto thinking.
You're trying to trap someoneinto thirsting for you, Correct?

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Does that make sense?
Thirsting, that's a better wayof saying it.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
Yes, that's what I couldn't think of, right and so
typically this is done through away on camera on your phone, on
a video, People get a certainangle or a filter or they wear
skimpy clothes.
Typically this is more of asexually related thing.
People like to do it throughthat way and it's not right.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
Obviously we're saying this is wrong.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
No bueno, this is no bueno, but I'm explaining that
it is typically a sexual thirsttrap way all right, okay, so
well, there you go.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
So for anybody it's tempting it's basically you're
just tempting other people yeah, right with something that's not
true, which is what the devildoes well, and I don't even
think it's necessarily somethingthat's not even true.
I mean, somebody could be inreally really great shape.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
That's true too.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
That's true too, and look really good and they're
using their.
How good they look on theoutside their attributes assets,
right?
Yes, sorry, they're using theirabilities to try to make
somebody lust after them,correct?

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Or want them, or want them Sure, of course.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
So I ran into something interesting Was it a
bus, no, no, much to yourchagrin.
No, I did not.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
Okay, so what did?

Speaker 4 (11:40):
you run into.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
I ran into a Christian thirst trap.
What?
What does that mean?

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
So I have to show this video.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
A.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
Christian thirst trap .

Speaker 4 (11:52):
A.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
Christian thirst trap and I don't really know how to
interpret it and how to feelabout it.
It's just very I want to getyour guys' take on it first I
don't think I showed you Paul,so we're going to show a reel'
take on it first.
I don't think I showed you Paul, okay, so we're going to show a
reel that I found on Instagram.
We're not going to show theusername, anything like that,
we're just going to show.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
And then so.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
John, you can blur out the name or just crop it out
, however you want to do it, soI'm going to play for you.
All it is is just music andthis guy just smiling like super
crazy christian thirst trap.
A christian thirst trap.
So, and here's the caption,it's in quotations I'm just a

(12:34):
girl and then, out of quotations, no, you're actually a
beautiful daughter of christ.
And it's got this guy like,like I, I don't know if it's
cringe, I don't know if I don'tknow how to feel about it, so I
want to get you guys take on it.
Okay, all right, here we go.
So here's just the music, andthis is literally it.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
He smiles through the whole thing.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Yes, he doesn't do anything.
Yes, he doesn't do anything, and I've seen this labeled as a
Christian thirst trap why arethey calling it a Christian
thirst trap?
Because he's clearly trying toat least in my opinion.
He's trying to probably showhow good looking he thinks he is

(13:23):
, but also using the word of godto kind of cover it up, maybe a
little bit and like to try toget girls to like him christian
girls- right, right, soobviously he was almost sitting
there smiling right and.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
But what's the point in that?

Speaker 1 (13:38):
well, I agree.
I guess that's content nowadays, which that's probably a whole
another discussion anotherpodcast, yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
So how do we?
How do we feel?
Because I just don't know how.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Agree I guess that's content nowadays, which that's
probably a whole otherdiscussion, that's a whole other
podcast.
So how do we feel?
Because I just don't know howto interpret that.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
Sure yeah.
So let me hear your take first,Sean.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
I'm interested in hearing.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
So, like I said, former thirst trapper.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
Ex-thirst trapper.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
Ex-thirst trapper.
Thirst trapper saved.
So like.
Here's what I think aboutEither one which we'll choose to
believe this with the benefitof the doubt.
It's whoever you are.
I think one.
Oh wait, what?
No?

Speaker 1 (14:18):
you've said so many words, yet you haven't said a
thing.
Okay, hold on, I'm getting toit, okay, okay.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
One.
We will give you, mr TikTok,the benefit of the doubt that
this was not a thirst trap.
Maybe it was completelyinnocent.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Was it tagged as a thirst trap, though?
Well, Was it tagged as a thirsttrap though.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Well, that's what I've seen in the comments and a
lot of people doing reviewvideos on it from worldly
perspectives.
Okay, okay, that's what they'resaying, we'll still give you
the benefit of the doubt, sure.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
However, I have seen this before and I have been that
before, and so I think whathappens is people who used to be
in the world and used to be athirst trap, Instagram, tiktok
influencer person that I thinkwhen they became a Christian or
maybe started following Jesusmore then they wanted to, they

(15:01):
still had that in them, becauseit's a certain thing that people
get in their head when they geta lot of likes and attention
for how they look right right ifthey're used to that and they
become saved.
Typically that's not reallysomething that they see as a sin
immediately okay and so theycould use christian songs or

(15:23):
verses or christian things andstill try and look good and
still try and thirst trapsomeone okay in just a more
innocent way but, still havethat characteristic and mindset
in their head because theyestablished it for so long in
the world before Does that makesense?
Yeah, I see what you're saying,so you can be used to being in
front of your phone, lookinggood, getting angles, getting

(15:44):
likes, getting attention.
You become saved, or you juststart following Jesus seriously
become a disciple.
Then you're like, well, now Ihave Christian music, I can kind
of dance to this you.
Then you're like, well, now Ihave Christian music, I can kind
of dance to this and do thesame thing.
You don't really realize that'sharmful and not best.
Look, we could get into whyit's probably bad in a second.
But you don't realize thatuntil you really start to mature

(16:05):
in your Christianity.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
So that could be what that was, Okay sure.
Or Paul.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Or Cliffhanger.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Cliffhanger Okay sure , or Paul, or Paul, cliffhanger,
cliffhanger.
Okay, so what are your thoughts, paul?
I don't really have anythoughts, so I guess mine is
more of a question.
So to speak.
So social media.
I just want to know what yourtakes are on social media in
general.
When it comes to when you'recalling yourself a Christian

(16:41):
Okay, is it wrong?
What do you think about socialmedia If you had it before
you're a Christian or you'reafter whatever?
What do you think about that?
Do you think?

Speaker 3 (16:51):
What do you mean?

Speaker 2 (16:52):
Like for example, you have an Instagram page.
I mean you're a Christianexample, you have an instagram
page.
I mean you're you're, you'rechristian, you have an instagram
page.
Do you think you have it?
And you have other pages aswell.
I've heard different storiesbecause people say, yeah, you
shouldn't be on social media.
You know, especially if youkind of work on work at a church
or oh there's.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
They're saying you shouldn't have social media at
all.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
I've heard that I've heard that you should like you
should not be on social media.
If you have a relationship withGod, you should just stay away
from that, because that's bad.
Social media is bad.
What's your take?

Speaker 1 (17:23):
I'll go first and I'll let you go.
But I think, social mediaobviously there's a lot of
negative effects of it, but alsoI think it could be used for
the positive, absolutely Toreach people and I think coming
effects of it, but also I thinkit could be used for the
positive, absolutely, I mean, you know, to reach people and,
and you know, I I think, comingback to this specific whatever
this is, whatever video this is,I think it all depends on where

(17:45):
the attention is gettingpointed to right, right, and and
I, at least to me, in the waythat I'm interpreting it, it
seems like in this video theattention is purely hey, I'm
smiling, look how good looking Iam, kind of thing, and again,
nothing wrong with smiling andwhatever.
But I think when it comes to theWord of God like, for example,

(18:07):
I see John, he does a lot ofposts where he'll post Bible
verses or something that theLord's talking to him about, and
it'll usually just be like acool picture of nature or
something that he went on a walkwith, where the attention is
purely based on the Word of Godthat you're sharing.
And I think with this, I thinkit could be misconstrued a

(18:30):
little bit, just because it's so.
I mean, in the video that weshow.
I mean it's just, his face isso close to the camera you don't
almost even like focus on whatthe caption is.
Right, because it's just so.
Hey, here's my white smileyteeth, and you know whatever so.
I don't know, I guess that'smore.
But you know that was my takeon that video.

(18:52):
But I guess to your point, youknow I think it can absolutely
be used in a great way.
For sure, it just depends on, Iguess, where you're pointing
the attention to, I guess wouldbe my point.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
What do you think?
So I think of social media likethis so take okay, okay, how
about this?
Take okay, okay, how about this?
We all, we all like ice cream, right, mm-hmm, does everybody?

Speaker 2 (19:21):
like ice cream.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
Yes, I do okay, do you eat ice cream?
Yes, yes how often no?
I don't okay not really okay,lactose intolerant.
Sorry, sure you've had icecream before yes, I have, there
are uh, almond uh I do oat, milk, ice.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
Excellent, let's let's talk about that bruh, uh,
chill.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
So okay, everybody's had ice cream, right?

Speaker 1 (19:45):
yeah right.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
So you like ice cream , you eat ice cream, but anyone
can have ice cream right right.
Ice cream's not wrong.
If we got into the healthbenefits of it, it probably is
wrong.
We're talking about morally andspiritually, is ice cream wrong
.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
Is it a?

Speaker 2 (20:05):
sin to eat ice cream?
No, it's not.
Ice cream itself is not a sin, correct.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
The ice cream itself is not a sin, and even eating it
is not a sin.
But, what is a sin is when youturn that into gluttony or when
you create an unhealthy habitout of ice cream that leads you
to sin, or you turn to ice creamwhen you're in your down
moments and that leads you tosin.
Does that make sense?

Speaker 2 (20:26):
you're taking something, that's okay so in
social media terms, use that now.
Flip that back into socialmedia terms it's social media
terms.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
basically, what I'm describing is a weight, if
social media is a weight tosomeone where they can't control
themselves on social media.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
Can't stay off of it.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
Can't stop.
They can't stay off of it.
They watch the wrong things onit.
They completely use it for thewrong purposes, Don't use the
attention in the right way orthey wrap their self-image in it
.
There's a lot of problems withit.
Spiritually there's a lot ofproblems with it if you have
problems with it.
But, like I said with ice cream, if you don't have problems
with ice cream, eat ice cream.

(21:01):
But if you have problems withinsocial media that it brings to
you, then get off social media.
So I don't think it's bad foryou to be on social media.
I don't think it's a sin foryou to be on social media, but
if social media has you and youdon't have it, then you should
be off of it.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
I think another great example is just money right.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
Money correct.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
Another great example .
It's like listen, money byitself isn't evil, but the Bible
says the love of money is theroot of all evil, right and love
of social media is the root ofyeah, yeah, root.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
think there's dangers on social media, but there's
danger with anything.
So I think, you know, there'sdanger in walking outside,
there's danger in watching amovie.
There's danger in talking to aperson you never met before.
The only thing is withInstagram or with social media
is danger is easier accessed,accessed.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
Well, because here's the deal when I was growing up,
we didn't have cell phones, letalone anything else, I mean, so
we didn't have social mediaright, but we actually played
outside yeah, yeah, right, therewas a thing called outside,
with the sun and the cloudsright.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
What is this outside?
What is this outside you'retalking about?

Speaker 2 (22:09):
yeah right but now with your, your, your.
What?

Speaker 4 (22:13):
not a demographic, but your generation, generation,
that was the word I was lookingfor yeah, um, you've got this
instant access to the world yes,in your hands, at your
fingertips, as your fingertips,in a matter of seconds.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
That to me sounds dangerous.
It is dangerous, but it comesdown to the person who's using
it.
You know what I'm saying?
Okay, so if you're, if you're,if you know you're not going to
have a problem with security, lust, attention, entertainment,
you know all of those things.
If you don't have a problemwith those things, right, go on

(22:46):
social media Now with the samethought process, though I think
it does come down to a balance, because you can kind of fall
into a gray spot where, ifyou're on social media too much
and you're just neutral, likeyou're not sinning, but you're
also not using it for a purpose, then it's just like anything
else.
You don't want to do that fortoo long.

(23:07):
You want to take it withbalance, right, because you
could be spending that timedoing something more productive.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Yeah, it's interesting and actually I think
that's really kind of a coolcontrast.
Somebody, that is all that.
You know.
John is social media, becausethat's what you grew up with and
that's the way of life for you,and then Paul, for you, that
was something that wasintroduced way later.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
I was like in my early 40s when social media came
along so so you've been askingsome good questions.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
So what, what are your takes on it like?
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (23:42):
I mean, here's the deal for me.
It's you know I don't reallyget on it much, you.
You know I don't post a lot.
You don't really see me doingmuch on it.
I use it more for businessbecause I have to right.
Right.
But even then I don't get on itunless I need to look up
something or check some artistsand what they're doing and see
what their pages look like, butfor the most part I don't really
get on it.

(24:02):
I don't think most people my ageand higher.
You know, like my mom, she doesFacebook and she tries to do
Instagram.
But she's done nothing aboutTikTok or anything like that.
She doesn't know anything aboutthat.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Well, another good example too is like.
I know people who have iPhonesand then, through their iPhones,
they build a porn addiction, sothey get rid of their iPhones
and get a flip phone.
So it all comes down to whatyou can handle.
Can you defeat temptations?
Will you accept them and fallthrough with them?

(24:36):
Because there's going to betemptations wherever you are.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
So what, and that's a really great point.
So what are some ways that youknow for you if you could talk
to young people, which we knownobody really listens to?

Speaker 4 (24:50):
the show, but you know, but uh, you know for I'm
really.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
This isn't even just for young people, this is for
anybody.
You know, what?
What are some ways that theycan try to you know.
Help overcome that, you knowmaybe they porn, or just
addicted, being addicted totheir phone, just in general,
you know, just like wanting tobe on social media all the time,
right so?

Speaker 3 (25:11):
with this kind of thing and more towards porn.
I just had this conversationwith someone last night actually
.
Oh nice, I was up till.
That's why I was up so late isI was helping someone walk
through.
Hey, I've been struggling withthis.

Speaker 4 (25:25):
And.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
I was like, okay, let's talk about it, let's pray,
so with porn I'll get to.
I guess I'll get to socialmedia as a separate answer.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
Sure.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
Start with the practical, practical side is
okay.
Realize how you're accessing itand if there's a way to stop it
and limit yourself or justcompletely get rid of that
access Because for a seasonyou're going to have to get rid
of that so you can then we'll goto the spiritual in a second.

(25:54):
Do that while you're limitedfrom that.
Right, right, right.
So you need to realize what theaccess point is and eliminate
that.
If you keep eating sugar in thehouse.
You get rid of sugar in thehouse.
Right right you don't just sitthere and try and look at it and
overcome not eating it.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
Well, and that's statistically a thing where, if
there's something in the house, you're so much more times likely
to eat that thing, because it'savailable.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
Correct.
Number two is you need to findaccountability.
You need to find friends orolder mentors that you trust,
even your parents or familywhatever.
Find someone you trust, bringthem into this, because the
devil can only make this worsewhen it's hidden and when it's
in the dark.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
I'm going to let you keep going, but that was a
really, really good point, because a lot of people think
they have to fight it on theirown, correct.
Let's be real Men specifically, men specifically, let's be real
Men specifically, Menspecifically, and it let's.
Let's be honest, it is reallychallenging to tell somebody
else hey, I'm struggling withthis, it is, and I mean that's,
that's embarrassing and alsoit's like man, I, right now I'm

(26:59):
just not strong enough.
And that's hard for a guy to do.
And I mean even women too.
Women struggle with it as well,so that's hard to do.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
Yeah, so yeah, go ahead, john, I'm sorry.
Yeah, so accountability, finding that friend or friends,
the more people you tell don'tgo around and be like man.
I'm addicted to porn.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
Speaking of social media yeah, don't do that
Exactly, you don't want to takethat too far and tell the whole
world know that close people youtrust let them know that.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Bring them into that accountability which you're
accountability right.
Ask people to pray over it,give you advice and, if anything
, text them.
You know, if you get an urge, you get a temptation, hit them
up, call them.
You know.
If they're okay with that, check, check with them, they're
okay first don't call them, don't call it.
Yeah, exactly unless they'reokay with that.
Some people are okay with thatif they're really close to you.
Find the accountability.

(27:50):
That's number two.
And then number three is renewyour mind to Scripture.
That really should be number one, yeah, right, right this is not
even in the spiritual thing yet, because this is still a little
bit of practical.
You need to understand andremember and learn and meditate
on scriptures dedicated towardspurity Right, and you need to
seek those through youraccountability group, through

(28:12):
your church, through the Word.
You can ask, email, comment, text us whatever you know we can
help you with those too.
Find scriptures that'll reallydeal with purity and how to walk
in the Spirit and not fulfillless of the flesh, Galatians
something.
But that's a verse that'sreally important.
516.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
516.
516, that sounds right.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
So find scriptures.
Okay, so recap One get rid ofthe access you have to the
temptations.
Get accountability.
Three memorize scripturetowards the applicable category.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
And the importance of speaking it too right.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
Correct.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
Every single day.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
Yep, yeah, yeah, yeah , yeah, speak on a day and night
, right, Don't let time go byand slack off on that.
Like be as dedicated tospeaking the Scripture as much
as you are tempted to doing itand more.
Does that make sense?
And I think, yes, it does.
Counterattack the temptationwith the times you speak

(29:07):
Scripture over yourself.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
And the first day that you choose to do it is
always the most challenging.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
I mean because, if you think about it, you
developed a habit.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
Right.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
You developed a way of life really.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
Correct.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
And so you have to change.
You've got to stop where youare, turn around and go the
other way, right and so.
I think it's really importantto remember that.
Hey, give yourself grace right.
You can't expect to do itperfectly right from the get-go,
but what you'll find is, youknow, because one thing that we
always talk about at church is,like you know, so many people

(29:42):
are focused on what they have tostop doing, rather than what
they need to keep doing andmeaning like, hey, just keep
speaking the word, just keep, you know, keep making the right
decisions.
Guess what?
Yeah, you're going to mess up,but here's what's going to
happen.
Like John said, that word isgoing to renew your mind and
then you're going to startthinking differently.
You're going to start havingmore biblical desires, right,
and let's be honest, obviouslyGod created that desire between

(30:04):
a man and a woman in marriage,right?
Mm-hmm, sire between a man and awoman in marriage right.
And so you know one thing manand woman, man and woman yes.
But, you know what, honestly, Ithink it's really cool because
when I started this conversation, you know, I just thought it
was interesting, like just thebalance of like you know how
something is perceived on socialmedia.
But I think, you know, I thinkthe Holy Spirit brought us to

(30:26):
this part of the conversationbecause let's just be honest,
this is a really hard strugglefor all men.
All men have struggled with thisat some point.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
Let's be serious.
We have no topic of what we'regoing to say when we start these
shows either.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
Right.
So this is like all of them, and I just talked to somebody
about last night Exactly.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
This is all God-led.
I mean, we didn't.
This is nothing's planned.

Speaker 1 (30:47):
No, like literally in my notes I had to bring up like
the Christian thirst trap thingand that was it.
We were just going to get ourtakes and kind of move on.
But obviously the Holy Spiritled us to this.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
Right.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
And I think that's important.

Speaker 4 (30:58):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
Obviously you know, because obviously we talked
about this, our podcast being aChristian humor podcast, where
our goal is to make you laugh, have a good time with us, but
then also, too, to share someserious things.
And I think it's reallyimportant to talk on a subject
that, especially in Christiancircles, is so taboo.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
It's yeah, and it's hard for men to talk about it
because it's a very vulnerableand delicate thing.
It's sensitive.
Yes, yeah, and it's you know, aman, our constant thing being a
man is we want to be a man.
Right we don't want to be aletdown, we don't want to be a
failure.
Right, we want to be a certainway, so we can lead a certain
way, and when people find outsomething like this, it sucks.

(31:45):
Yeah it sucks yeah you know, itbreaks trust, it makes people
look completely different.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
Yeah, so it's a hard topic, yeah, but it's good that
we're talking about it.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
Yeah and um, I don't know if you were complete with
your thought no, yeah, I've doneyeah when I actually was like,
okay, god, I've tried thepractical, it's helped, but the
root cause is not fixed.
And I could feel it like Istill had lust, I would relapse,
and I would relapse too often.
And so I was like what is theproblem here?
I'm doing these steps, but thekey was I needed to know the

(32:16):
Lord and how much he loved me.
And so the Bible talks about.
If you call upon the name ofthe Lord, you'll be saved, and
that's for salvation, yes, butthat's also how we spend time
with the Lord.
We call upon his name, and soif you're looking for the Lord,
you'll be saved, and that's forsalvation, yes, but that's also
how we spend time with the Lord.
We call upon His name, and soif you're looking for the Lord,
you're seeking for the Lord andyou're having a hard time doing
it.
The way that I did it and theway that I would recommend you

(32:37):
to do this.
To make this mystical woo-hoospend time in the Lord's
presence thing become a realthing to you and actually know
how to do that, you have tobring yourself to a place where
you have no distractions and youhave no opportunities to be
distracted, and you, when youfirst do this, you need to not
have any concept of like time,Like you can't have something on

(33:00):
your schedule in 30 minutes.
You can't have something inyour schedule in three hours.
Whatever it takes, you need toblock off a set amount of time
for the Lord to speak to you andfor the Lord to reveal his face
right, and so that's what I hadto do.
I went away for like two, threehours, I think, and it didn't
count.
I just when I was out of it Iwas like, okay, that was two or
three hours, whatever, excuse me, holy Spirit, burp Anyways.

(33:25):
So I spent time with the Lordand I called upon his name.
I was like God, if you're there, just let me encounter you for
real, not a churchy way, not afake way, not a shallow way.
If I need to cry and be reallyuncomfortable and be really less
of a man and let my guard downand just let you fill my spirit

(33:47):
with your love, like, let's letthat happen.
And you don't have to praycertain things, you don't have
to go of a routine, you don'thave to be legalistic, you just
have to be authentic and real tothe Lord, because he's your
friend, and that's the best wayyou'll communicate with any
friend is being real andauthentic and realistic.
And so that's what I did withthe Lord, and as soon as I
called upon him, he came and heshowed me his true character and

(34:10):
his love.
That moment changed me from theinside out and that allowed me
to really know.
Okay, god, you're real.
I just experienced your loveone-on-one, nothing else, no
distractions.
It was amazing.
I now know what the Lord's nodistractions.
It was amazing.
I now know what the Lord'spresence feels like.
It's holy and it's just afeeling you can't explain right.

(34:33):
And so I now knew what that waslike.
And now that I knew what thatwas like, I wanted to do that
more.
I wanted to spend intentionaltime with the Lord like that
more, and the more you do that, the more.
Let me example and sorry, I'malmost finished, but bishop,

(34:54):
bishop, bishop, maynard jamalshout out um, only you know that
that was funny so, so, um, whatwas I saying?
I totally forget what I wassaying.
Adhd homeschooled I'mhomeschooled.
What flight?
Southwest, southwest, don'tknow, we don't know houston, we
have a problem.
What I say?
What I totally forget what Iwas saying.
Adhd homeschooled I'mhomeschooled.
What flight?
Southwest, southwest, don'tknow, we don't know, houston, we
have a problem.
What did I say?
What was I saying?

Speaker 2 (35:13):
I couldn't tell you, I don't know, everything was so
good I was.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
I'll be honest.
I stopped listening like 15years ago chill uh, shoot.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
What was I saying?

Speaker 1 (35:24):
no, you're talking about just spending time with
the Lord.
You're talking about yourpresence, where you finally got
it.
You finally understood.

Speaker 3 (35:31):
That's got to be the enemy.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
I can't remember what I was saying, or just your
brain.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
Or just my brain.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
What was I saying?
Does anyone know what I wassaying?
That's so crazy.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
Yeah, I'm trying to.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
I'm literally drawing a blank what I was saying.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
That's so weird.
Um, why is that?
Let me just say this, thoughokay that you can think about it
on the next podcast but thisone has gone way too long.
Yeah, how long are we?
We're, we're long, we're really, we're really long, yeah, but
let me just say, this is thiswas.
Oh, I have it.
I'm sorry, of course, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.

Speaker 3 (36:04):
I gotta finish it out though okay, the person who's
dealing with.
It is like no, tell me.
Okay, I'm about to tell you,Brandon, you good.

Speaker 4 (36:12):
We're good, all right , here we go.

Speaker 3 (36:13):
I'm gonna do this quickly, okay, okay so the more
you spend time with the Lord, the more you draw near to him.
If you're ever in a momentwhere you're with Jesus like
that and let's say maybe you're,if you've never had Jesus like
that, an experience like that, maybe you're around a pastor or
you're in church nine times outof 10, and really for everyone

(36:34):
it should be 10 times out of 10,you're not going to sin in that
moment.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
Right, true Right.

Speaker 3 (36:45):
Because the presence is not going to influence you to
actually give into thosetemptations.
So the more you're with theLord, the less you become like
the world and the more youbecome like him.
And the less you give into thetemptations and the more you
give into what the Father wantsyou to do.
And so that's what I had to doto overcome lust, overcome porn,
and with that I also used thosepractical steps.
So that is my speech.

(37:05):
Everyone, thank you for yourtime.
I'm done.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
That was good, john.
That was really good, thank you.
Thank you for sharing.
I think there's a lot of verygood things in there that we can
all take away, and even peoplethat don't struggle with it.
There's still really good steps, just to continue to put your
guard up right, practical stepsto do other things Right
absolutely.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
things right, absolutely.

Speaker 1 (37:24):
you can apply it in a few different ways well, that
got a lot more serious than Ithought this episode was so
great I mean it's great we neveranticipate these, yeah, I mean,
yeah, so just being led by theholy spirit, yeah all right,
john, let's turn the switch, buddy here we go.

Speaker 3 (37:38):
Did we close out the last episode with this?
Oh, we did, I just don'tremember things.
Thank you, mission mediapodcast.
Men, men, women, men, all men, men, get yourself together, uh
you're not a failure.
Uh, mish men, everyone go outand be on a mission and we love
you and we hope you come back.
We hope you enjoy the show.
Like comment.
Never mind, have a good day.

(38:00):
We love you and yeah, yes.
