(00:01):
Hey Bubba buddies, welcome back to Mr. Matt's story time.
It's been a long time. I shouldn't have left you
without any explanation for why I've been away.
I had a life change where I started a new job that took up a
lot of my energy, but now I'm settled and have more time to
think and be creative. I'm thankful you kept listening.

(00:23):
I may not put out episodes as often as before, but I'm happy
to keep storytelling when inspiration strikes.
And with that, This is Bubba Goes Back in Time.
Whoa, what's happening? Bubba yelled as he flew through
the air. Wee.

(00:43):
The giraffes were at a trampoline park and Bubba just
got launched in the air by someone by surprise.
Phoebe squealed in silliness as she watched her brother reach
the top or apex of his jump as she admired her handiwork.
The trampolines were extra boingy today.

(01:04):
They must have replaced the springs, Daddy thought to
himself with a smile. He remembered how much fun he
had jumping on a trampoline in his friend's backyard when he
was a calf and how special it was since he didn't have one of
his own. He thought calves these days
don't know how good they have it, but that feeling was washed
away quickly by the warmth he felt hearing his kiddos giggle

(01:26):
and seeing their toothy grins. 5more minutes guys, Mommy will be
awake soon. Daddy called out, nearly lost
amidst the din of the expansive trampoline warehouse that seemed
to go on forever. Mommy Giraffe was at home taking
a well deserved siesta on the couch after teaching some
littlest critters how to dance and move to get their jitters

(01:48):
out. The kids kept bouncing all over
the place, acting like they didn't hear the countdown.
Have you ever done that before? Pretended not to hear your
grown-ups when they were just having too much fun?
It's OK, all kids do it. All right, time's up, let's hit
the road. Daddy announced.

(02:08):
The calves groaned and slowed their bouncing until they were
standing on all fours again. Back on the ground, the family
clip clopped to the door to leave.
Once they were outside on the sidewalk, Bubba saw some stairs
he knew he would look super cooljumping off of.
He started to gallop towards them, launching himself into the

(02:30):
air just before the ledge. Yeah, he landed in the grass
right in front of a tall tree. That's weird, I didn't see that
tree before I jumped. Bubba thought to himself.
Suddenly he heard a noise he'd never heard before.
Bubba turned around so fast he got a little dizzy.

(02:53):
What daddy. Daddy Bebe.
He didn't see them anywhere. He began to feel a pit in his
stomach. Something wasn't right.
Hello, you're a strange looking dancer, where are you from?
Bubba was so confused. He didn't know where he was,

(03:13):
where his family had gone, and now someone was roaring at him,
asking him what kind of dinosaurhe was.
Well, at least they sounded friendly.
I I I'm from Virginia, where am I?
Bubba cautiously replied. This is Laurasia.
What's Virginia? The young Triceratops asked

(03:33):
curiously. Oh no, I've heard of Laurasia
gone to water too. These were the land masses that
existed when dinosaurs lived. And since you're a dinosaur,
that means I must have travelledback in time.
How am I going to get home? Bubba asked out loud, confusedly

(03:54):
to no one in particular. He took a second to look all
around. He was at the edge of a lush
grassy field, surrounded by trees he'd never seen before,
resembling nothing like the Acacia trees back home in his
time. By all accounts, it was a
beautiful day, with warm weatherand a gentle breeze, just like
back home when he had left the trampoline park and stepped out

(04:15):
into the sun. At least that was the same.
He had begun to pace around thinking.
Maybe I'm in the same place as home, but just millions of years
earlier. He trailed off as he
accidentally stepped on something squishy with one of
his hooves. Ouch.
Hey. His new friend called out.

(04:37):
You just stomped on my tail. And with that, he whipped the
injured tail around and smacked Bubba right in the face.
That was an accident. You did that on purpose.
Bubba yelled. The ground shook rhythmically as

(04:59):
the young Dino's daddy rushed over, drawn to the commotion.
Son, did you just whack this creature with your tail?
He boomed. The young diner looked down
sheepishly. Yes, Daddy.
He snapped his head up to meet his daddy's eyes and said.
But he frustrated me. He stepped on my tail.

(05:21):
Look how small he is and look how big you are.
I know it hurt, but we don't hurt others on purpose.
You're allowed to be frustrated, but you are not allowed to hurt
others, right Daddy? Dino said.
Right. Young Dino said.
He turned to Bubba. I'm sorry I whacked you.

(05:42):
That was nice. OK, I'm really sorry too.
Didn't mean to step on you. I was just clopping around
trying to figure out a way home.Tired and still very confused,
Bubba leaned against the tree healmost jumped into when he got
to Laurasia. That's when instead of the tree

(06:02):
holding him up, it allowed him to fall to the ground, which
felt really hard and not like soft grass at all.
Bubba looked up and saw Daddy and Bebe standing over him,
looking down. He was back on the sidewalk.
Daddy Bebe, I'm so happy to see you.
Bubba jumped up and gave them both a huge hug.

(06:23):
Daddy and BB were so confused. They had seen Bubba jump off the
step and twist in the air and land on the sidewalk awkwardly.
They had no idea why he would have been so happy to see them.
To them he never left. What happened?
You look like you'd land that awesome jump for sure.
Daddy said. It was so weird.
I went back in time and met a dinosaur and the dinosaur hit me

(06:45):
in the head and it hurt. All so scared and confused and I
leaned on the train and woke up here.
Bubba gave a quick recap of his journey.
You sure you didn't just hit your head on the ground?
Daddy asked. Let's get you home to rest,
yeah? Daddy, I want to.
Try Phoebe had backed up and started to gallop towards the

(07:06):
very same step for a huge cool jump.
The end. And that, my friends, was Bubba
goes back in time. Special thanks to Bubba and
Phoebe for the story idea and for joining us voicing
themselves. Don't forget to follow wherever
you listen to your podcast and never miss an episode.
If you're on Spotify, Bubba loves getting five star reviews.

(07:27):
We hope you enjoyed it. We'll catch you next time here
on Mr. Matt's Story Time and we'll read the world together.
Bye, bye, bye.
