Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Mixed and Mastered.
Extra Credit with Faith Newman.
So tell me an artist that youwanted to sign but couldn't.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
An artist that I wanted to sign but couldn't.
Can it be anything, anything?

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Anything.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Doesn't matter.
Well, most recent one wasGeorge Benson.
I wanted that catalog badly, yeah, and he was very and he's
yeah, yeah, that was a tough oneto miss out on.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Okay, tell me three of your favorite top artists, of
your favorite artists, and why.
In any genre, it doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Okay, tina Marie, okay.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Obviously.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Because I related to her as a Caucasian woman.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
And she was amazing.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
She was amazing.
She was so talented and diedfar too young.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Mm-hmm.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
I just have to say the Isley brothers.
Nothing to do with the factthat we did a deal with them,
but just the breadth of theircatalog is astounding.
And I want to you know, I'mtrying to think of a rap version
I want to say, besides Nas,because that's too obvious.

(01:25):
But can I say, nas, you can sayanything you want, all right,
just think he's, he's likeextraterrestrial somehow, like I
don't know.
You know where he came from, but, um, but he changed the face
of hip hop.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
He absolutely did.
He absolutely did.
Last question Tell me three ofyour favorite concerts.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
you went to.
That's easy.
My number one would be Princethe Time and Vanity 6.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Oh, I know, that was crazy.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
That was amazing.
What other concerts I've beento.
So many concerts I don't knowwhere to start.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
You and me, you and me.
I can't remember stuffsometimes.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
I'd say probably Wu-Tang and their first
performance.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
I have the invitation .
Still that was incredible.
And then I'll go back to Tina.
Still that was incredible.
And then I'll go back to Tina.
I saw her months before shepassed in Philadelphia and she
was stellar.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Wow yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Okay, we're going to end this.
Have you been able to rememberone crazy story?
There's so many.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Just give me one I remember.
Okay, we're going to end this.
Have you been able to rememberone crazy story?
There's so many crazy stories.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Just give me one.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
I remember this was like interesting for me from a
sociological perspective.
This is about probably 87 or so88.
And I was hanging out withPublic Enemy and Keith and Hank,
and we were somewhere in theLower East Side and there were

(03:10):
two cars of us.
We were just parked and I don'tknow what.
We were just hanging out anddown the street there was a big
pothole and these kids keptpulling a piece of cardboard
over the pothole for anybody whowas driving by and then they'd

(03:31):
hit the pothole and they letlike think that was really funny
, you know.
So all of a sudden, all thesecop cars swarm us and they put
all the guys up against the, thecop cars, you know, and they
leave me and my two girlfriendscompletely alone, like we had

(03:53):
not.
You know what I mean.
It was.
It was a really surreal momentand they were totally trying to
like rough them up a little bit,you know, and threatening to
arrest them.
And we, you know, you, you knowlike blame, you know, and
threatening to arrest them, youknow, like blame, you know,
because they thought that wewere the ones who were doing the
thing with Pothole.
It was not us, but it was likeit could have turned really,

(04:13):
really bad.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Yeah, especially the New York cops, not that they're
better, but bad.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
New York cops in the 80s.
Oh my God, that was crazy.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
It was brutal, it was brutal, it was brutal.
Well, thank you, faith Newman.
