[AUTO-GENERATED CAPTIONS]Hello and welcome to the Mixed Media Podcast.
We're talking about film, music and videogames, among other aspects of art.

Almost always.
Sometimes whatnot.
And if you want to
keep up to date with our schedule, seewhen we change times or not, join discord.
You can find the mixed media podcastdot com.

(00:27):
And yeah,we're back with an interesting episode.
Absence of the three.
And I guess we'll just introduceourselves.
Oh, I am.
Oh. Are you ready for the Nathan Lester?
I'm a video gamedeveloper and throw miler.
Hi. I'm Ben Costello.
I'm a flute player and a media composer.

(00:48):
And my name is Irving Nester.
I'm a filmmaker and media entrepreneurand a company called Ariella last night.
And before we get into it,
as we might, hasn't been too eventful, so.
Well, happy Easter.
Oh, yeah, he's happy Easter, huh? Yeah.
I mean, it was a really busy week for mebetween some,

(01:09):
like a musical competitionand recording a tape
for a summer programthat I was auditioning for.
Among other things,
I have also been trying to listento all of Mahler's
symphonies all the way through, which is kind of a long task.

(01:30):
It's interestingto try and go one through nine with them.
It's a lot of music.
But interesting listening for me.
Had a good Easter weekend with the family.
Now starting to feel a little bit sick.
So I could be talking very muchduring the podcast.
I also had a reallylong day, many complications.

(01:53):
And besidesthat, nothing took a lot of time off.
So that's pretty much it.
And that's that's
any interesting news.
I have not been keeping up with thingsnot going to lie, so I don't know.
Yeah, not not too much that I'm aware ofin the musical world, people.
There's been some talk about thesoundtrack for the secrets of Dumbledore.

(02:19):
I don't know.
I'll get around to listening to itat some point, I guess.
On though, you watch some of my stuff from last year.
I am not terribly impressedwith the music for
Fantastic Beastsand where to find that or that whole.
Series of films.
Well, one interesting thing,if you're interested, if you're into

(02:41):
kind of the pop
culture world of classical music, which sounds like a contradiction, but
if you pay attention to kind of likethe maybe in the Internet world
of classical music,it's kind of inevitable that you will run
into this radio stationcalled Classic FM , which is,
I think, the biggest radioclassical radio station in Britain.

(03:04):
But they have an enormous
social media online presence.
They're everywherewith all sorts of BD things,
you know, every musician I know it'skind of an unavoidable part of your life.
You do anything on an online, you see them.
Well, every year they do their
own issue.
We can meet you there, but you can go for various pieces of music

(03:27):
and they havea, you know, their 300 piece countdown
of most popular or whatever you call it.
I think officially the classicFM Hall of Fame.
Kind of interesting.
You see the results this year, especially if you're a film music person.
It's notable that just because, again, they're so ubiquitous

(03:49):
that the lives of people, includingthey're not just their regular, you know,
audience in England vote lot of peopleall over the world vote on this.
And the resultsare generally pretty predictable.
Like the top piece this year isthe same top is has been for many years.
Vaughan Williams The Lark Ascending.
There's nothing tooterribly crazy about about the top ten.

(04:14):
It's not really worth my time to go
because nothing that I would votefor would gets any consideration.
But it's always interestingto look at the results.
They made a big point this yearof noting that film, music in particular,
is over the 26 years
that they run, this has grownfrom like one entry with 300 to

(04:35):
like I don't remember the exact numberthis year, but
film music is more and more.
Entries of film musicare ending up on the top 300
and also lower downso got John Williams Schindler's
List as a blues number ten.
But a lot of some some unexpected things.
And most of it is Williams and Zimmer

(04:58):
and John Berry for James Bond.
So I guess it shows that to some extent, whatever.
However, the audience votes on this thing
reflects the broaderclassical classical music audience.
There's a film music.
It continues to be seenas a relevant force

(05:20):
and breaking into the top ten this year.
So take that as you will.
It's kind of a, you know, pop culture,
social media, you know, reflection
of the musical world, snapshot of the musical world, as cool
and as it is at all frames and news.

(05:40):
Oh, I see. My niece.
So some people are getting on attention
that Microsoft might be putting ads
inside their games for free to play games.
This isn't really anything new necessarilyin the video game industry.
Considering games like Dirt,Rally and Crunk are already do this.

(06:01):
So like just like on like
almost like hurricanelike diegetic ads like like ads
on billboards and stuff like thatthat are ads for real companies
rather than like, you know, fictional companies or whatever.
Yeah, that really exists in gaming
with their reality and stuff like thator concrete, I'm sure other games as well.
So I don't know if it's a really big deal.
These are things I don't even like, pay much attention to them.

(06:23):
Every games are completely free to play, especially.
I mean, sounds like a good deal to methough.
Now take the other grain of salt, though, because the source is
the sources are like it's not named.
So I don't really knowabout these sources.
So, yeah, that's all. Yeah. So.
Okay, so
we have a
locals and locals and if you don't knowwhat that is, it's somewhat pedestrian.

(06:46):
It's sort of like a little donation thingyou can do where
you think you can do one time donationsor like monthly donations.
I could be wrong about thatif I do one time.
I guess
if there's no such thing like that,I can be like once a month
and then, you know, to cancel or whatever.
Anyways, given the searchfor donating to our local, such
as access to the live whiteboardwhere you can pretty much do, say

(07:08):
or write anything you want to,the white board is on the right side.
It's being dual on right now.
You draw pictures, whatever you wantas long as not like, you know, grossly
offensive like that, you know,or that is just fine.
You can get guaranteedreviews on your latest work.
So it doesn't matterwhat kind of bar you have, you know,
I mean, if you want tolike show up with a sculpture,
I guess you could, but we're not really good at that.

(07:29):
So, you know, you might want to dothe type of arts that we specialize in.
You can send it to us on this quarter.
However, everyone sent to usand we'll review it.
I don't know what else is on that listbecause now
that's pretty much it offered.
Okay. So we're talking about.
Okay, so yeah, you can our locals like you can find
that also on mixed media broadcast.com.

(07:52):
The link in the descriptionof wherever you're watching,
probably on our page on all our accounts, whatever
and I think in our infosection of our disclosure is called.
So yep, that's the show.
