In our latest episode of Mobility Matters, “What’s Happening in the Household Goods Arena?” we speak to Cartus supplier partners, Barry Schellenberg, President and COO of Atlas Van Lines, and Derek Duffy, President of Armstrong Moving, about current HHG challenges and solutions. 

 Guest biographies:  

Barry Schellenberg 

Barry Schellenberg is President and COO of Atlas® Van Lines, where he is tasked with leading the Atlas Van Lines household goods division in the U.S. As a seasoned professional with more than 30 years’ experience in operations, supply chain management and logistics, Barry is a proven leader in strategic alignment and growth techniques, taking a client-focused mindset in order to recognize operational and financial efficiencies. Barry takes pride in nurturing customer confidence and delivering quality services as a respected value provider and partner.  

 

Derek Duffy 

Derek began his career at Armstrong Moving in 1990 as a summer student, working in the operations department, moving to a sales role after he left university. In 2020, Derek, along with his business partner, purchased Armstrong Moving. He was elected to the FIDI Board of Directors in March 2018 (the world’s largest global alliance of international moving and relocation companies) and is set to become President of FIDI in 2023. He is also a lead trainer for the FIDI Academy. Derek resides in Toronto. In his spare time he is the personal Uber driver for his two children’s sports activities.   

 

Dan Gerlich 
Since joining Cartus in 2003, Dan has worked in both international and domestic operations, demonstrating a high level of skill in managing complex client engagements. Dan has served on many projects over his tenure with the company that have focused on efficiency, process improvement, and enhancing the customer and client experience, as well as leading multiple clients through large headquarter relocations.   

 

Tom Lacey 

Tom is Cartus' Supply Chain Director, with more than 20 years’ experience in the corporate relocation industry, along with accounting and finance experience. He manages Cartus’ domestic and international household goods networks.
