Speaker 1 (00:00):
So what does a day in the life of a coach look like
to you?

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Yeah, we get this question a lot.
I think it's mostly because weused to work a nine to five I
mean being a police officer, youbeing in corporate and then
coming home full time.
I think a lot of people lookforward to that, but then they
have no idea of what it'sactually gonna look like, and I
think that's why people wannaactually get into what is
exactly everything that you do,and so we want to share some of
that with you guys here today, but also some of the lessons

(00:23):
that we learned, because this isa process where you got to find
it for yourself, right?
I know a lot of people likelook at other people, what
they're doing, and they're like,oh my God, I got to do that
exact same thing.
But the universal principlesare true here, and we'll bring
that up as we kind of go.

(00:43):
So I actually and that's whatwe build our stuff around right,
and we still go out and go onvacations and do that kind of
stuff.
But as we're putting thistogether, I'm like man, this is
pretty boring, but at the sametime, it also lights me up to be
able to do these things.
So let me start off at thebeginning, and that is like when
I wake up Now some morning, ifI sleep in, it's 4am.
And the reason why I'm tworeasons.
Number one is because myuniversal primetime is in the
morning.
I get more stuff done beforethe kids, before you're awake,

(01:11):
before anything.
Actually like people in theworld are awake, right, because
it gives me my freedom to do thethings I need to do, but it's
also where I'm the mostproductive, right.
But number two is because beinga police officer for 20 years
has built into me this weirdschedule where if I try to sleep
beyond three, I can't, and it'slike you know.
You look at the clock, it'slike 3.05 and 3.10 and 3.12 and

(01:32):
you're like what in the world?
And so because of that, I kindof have been ingrained in me to
wake up at this time and I justmake the best use out of it.
Cup.
First thing I do is I drink abig glass of water, then I come
downstairs, I make my shake andthen I sit down and I start to
put together what I call mydaily plan, and that is I
practice gratitude every day.
So this day I actually wrote itdown.
I share between three to fourthings that I'm thankful for.

(01:53):
That cannot be the same that Ishared the day before.
I'll give you an idea of why Ido this.
But number one is I wasgrateful for my health.
So I have Crohn's disease, anautoimmune disease that actually
kind of came to life because ofmy police career and it comes
back every once in a while andit punches me in the gut.
And this week the people whoare supposed to like deliver my
medication.

(02:14):
Let's just say that they're notthe best at delivering it and
so I didn't have it.
But yet my health stillremained intact and any kind of
stress can set me off.
So I was just super thankfulthat I still was healthy,
despite not having, you know, myinjection that I need to have
all the time Right.
Second thing is I was thankfulfor Teresa, and every day she
makes it on my gratitude list.
But I think about like what issomething else that I'm so

(02:36):
grateful, that like I'm marriedto her, or that she's my best
friend, and when I think aboutthat it's kind of funny, because
when she wakes up and she comesdownstairs and I see her first,
I'm still thinking about thatstuff and I think she's looking
at me like why are you lookingat me like that weirdo and it's
because I focus on not only howmuch she means to me, but all of
the things that she does, allthe things that she is, all the

(02:57):
ways that I love her, and itjust helps me to keep that
kindled, if that makes sense, because when you continue to
focus on gratitude, you're sothankful for those things it
brings you into a differentenergy for the rest of the day.
Third thing I did is I wasthankful for the opportunities
to help people.
So that day in particular, theday before, I had two people
reach out to me and they werereally looking for help.
They were struggling with oneof them I think it was like

(03:19):
struggling with, like findingnew coaching clients and the
second was struggling with acoaching client that they have
that they didn't know the rightquestions or what to ask them to
help them, and I rememberhaving the opportunity to get on
the phone with them and to chatwith them and afterwards
getting messages back from themsaying that was a game changer.
Thank you so much for helping meand really thinking about that.
I'm like I now have theopportunity to do that to jump

(03:40):
on a call with somebody to coachpeople to help them not only to
achieve their goals, but tohelp them help others achieve
their goals.
I'm like I need to remindmyself of that, because many of
the day-to-days is not allbeautiful and amazing and
everything goes, you know, perfect the first time right.
And so by doing that sittingdown, practice gratitude for
five minutes, writing down threethings I'm thankful for, really
helps fuel my day.

(04:01):
From there I get into my dailyactions that I'm going to be
taking.
I come up with three thingsthat I'm going to be doing to
help move me towards my goals.
For me personally, I have anincome slash impact goal, I have
a health related goal and Ihave a family related goal, and
I always have those three kindof goals and I think about what
are the two to three actionsthat I'm going to be taking

(04:21):
today that is going to move mecloser towards my goals.
Now, sometimes like there's onegoal that I don't move towards,
but I make sure that I movetowards a goal every single day,
no matter what happens.
And so for this day, number oneis I worked on our coach
accelerator.
It's a program that we havewhere we help coaches elevate
not only their confidence andtheir skills but produce more
impact and income than they'veever gotten.
I mean, we got off a call todayand one of the guys in there

(04:43):
he's like I've never had aclient and I just signed a new
client today and it's like ourthird week in the program, so
we're going to be relaunchingthat.
So I was sitting down thinkingabout what the launch plan is
going to look like and I knowyou and I were talking about it
right Like when are we going tolaunch?
How are we going to reverseengineer it?
What I was going to do is goingto work on the launch plan.
Number two is I was going toschedule three consultation
calls.
So one of the things that I'venoticed is like when I move the

(05:07):
needle forward in business andI'm helping people, it's because
I'm scheduling calls to get onwith people.
Sometimes I help them in thatjust specific situation and
that's it.
Sometimes I help them or like Ireally want this kind of help
and I would be able to achievemy goals faster.
So my goal this of this day wasto get three of those.
I ended up getting two of them, but not all three of them.
And the third thing was to spendintentional time with my family
and it was Jay's day.

(05:27):
So I have a calendar that's uphere, and every day of the week,
and on Saturday as well, I havea different member of my family
that I go on a 15 or 20 minutewalk on.
If it's raining or something,we do something inside together.
And it was an opportunity totalk to Jay, and I mean even
going down to the granular.
I think he was talking about abrand new game that he was
getting into and I was askinghim questions about it, getting

(05:49):
him to share it with me.
So we went on like a 25 minutewalk at that point.
Then, after coming up with thatplan, then I started to look
into what is my hourly breakdowngoing to be right.
So I know we were talking aboutthis before we actually
recorded and I'd like to hearfrom you what has been that we
work.
So like in the morning timeI'll do some of the business,

(06:10):
then I'll do a little bit offamily and then, you know, block
it off a little bit later sothat I have family and no
business makes its way intothere.
So do you want to kind of sharewhat you were saying a few
minutes?

Speaker 1 (06:18):
ago.
Yeah, so what I was saying wasbasically that we segment our
day because it's different theway that we, you know, run our
business, like we don't go toanother location to run our
business and then come home it'slike everything is here, like
we eat, sleep, do our businesshere, have family time like this
is this is it, this is all here.

(06:39):
So it's really important toactually section that off, to
make sure that we haveintentional time to do business.
We have intentional time tojust live our lives, or have
family time and do homework, doall of those things because it's
all here.
So we can't just like removeourselves from the environment.
We have to do that byscheduling and planning it all

(07:02):
out and being intentional aboutthe specific times that we're
going to dedicate to each areaof our life.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Yeah, yeah, I love that, and one of the things that
comes up as you say that is itwasn't something that worked out
the first time, it was allabout reflection and figuring
out like what we can change anddo differently.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Yeah because we would have never thought of that
before.
Like, especially because I wasthe first one to leave my
full-time job, I didn't knowthat that was what it was gonna
be like.
So it's a learning process.
It's something where you'regoing to have to stumble your
way through it, right?

Speaker 2 (07:31):
100% Okay.
So at that point believe it ornot, it's been 15 minutes since
I've been awake.
I drank my shake, I did mygratitude, I figured out what
the three actions that I'm goingto take that day, and then I
started to focus on the hourlyplan for that day.
Right, and, by the way, itnever turns out the way that
it's written down on paper.
I'd say maybe like 80% of itkind of comes true.
But plan is better than no planat all.

(07:52):
The next thing I do is I readand I focus on what I like to
think of is like my one thing, like what's the one thing that I
can lean into that gives me thegreatest opportunity to develop
into the person that I want tobe.
Right now we're reading a bookwe have a free book club for
coaches and it's called the 15Invaluable Laws of Growth, and I
read this before.
It's by John Maxwell, but it'scrazy because I read it at the
early stages of our business, like 12, 13 years ago.

(08:13):
And then I'm rereading it rightnow and I'm getting so much
from it that I never got from itback then and one of the things
that I always, I would say, is,like, as a coach, we have to be
willing to do the things thatwe're asking our clients to do,
and if we're asking them to grow, to lean in, to get coached, to
go take action, then we have tobe willing to do that too.
And so that's one of thosethings where I was like reading
this book is going to help mecontinue to grow and get better

(08:35):
and develop myself, just likeI'm asking our clients to do.
So I spent about 10 to 15minutes doing that.
Then I go into what's calledaffirmations, which is how to
reprogram your brain towardswhat you want, instead of
getting your brain to focus onwhat you don't want, which is
usually what's broken, wrong ormissing, and so I go over these.
Affirmations takes about fiveminutes, and then by then it's
about 30 minutes after I'vewoken up and now I actually get

(08:57):
into doing my business.
Now those first 30 minutes areall about doing business
indirectly, but that was workingon my business.
Next, I work a little bit in mybusiness, and so I sat down for
this day.
It was about an hour and Ifollowed my tracker.
So we have a tracker that weuse for everything right, we
have it inside of our programs.
We use it for ourselves to kindof keep track of where we are,
to see you know what adjustmentswe can make.

(09:18):
Here's kind of like what was onmy tracker for that day.
I wrote an email aboutconfidence and self-sabotage.
So that is a really big thingthat I'm helping a lot of
coaches through is develop moreconfidence and develop more
confidence, and so I wrote anemail to give them a quick win
but also to share that we'regoing to be opening the
accelerator again really soon.
Right.
Then I checked into messages.
So I check into messages in avery specific way.
First I check in what's calledMarco Polo.

(09:39):
It's the app that we use forour clients.
So I first make sure thatthey're taken care of that.
I'm there to help them all thatstuff.
From there, I check into theapp.
We have our own app where ourbook club is, also where the
Coach Accelerator is.
I check in there to see ifthere's anybody who needs
anything who is inside of thoseprograms.
And then I go to social mediaand that is like trying to find
new people, trying to tell themwhat it is that I do for a

(10:00):
living and then offering anopportunity for me to help them.
So that's the process that Itake when I go through my
messages because I want to makesure the people that I have here
are being served, and then itgives me a whole different
energy when I go out to find newones.
So that is what I did for thatperiod of time, and then I put
together the training materialsfor the next couple of weeks
inside of the coach accelerator.
So that's how I spent that hour.

(10:21):
After that, around five o'clockis the time when I go work out.
I did like a 45 minute workoutinside of the garage.
We do that and then I got done, made us breakfast, got the kids
up and then it was like kind oflike dad mode, where I'm
getting them ready, yeah thehardest part.
Definitely the hardest partgetting them out the door once
they're already taking them toschool and then coming back, and

(10:44):
then when I came back, then Icould get back into work mode.
Any questions about that?
By the way, did I miss anything?

Speaker 1 (10:49):
No, I well, I did want to point something out is
that the first 30 minutes, youknow, you, you rattled off a lot
of different things and I thinkthat when people ask, like,
what it is that we do because Iwe even got this question when
we went to that party I was like, so what do you guys do all day
?
Right, and people want to hear,oh well, I, you know, I do this
and it's like specific to thebusiness.

(11:09):
Like you know, I talk to peopleor whatever right, like things
that are directly related tobusiness.
But the first 30 minutes ofmarketing up and I do something
very similar is we do theinternal work, we do, we focus
on ourselves, we focus on ourself-care.
You know, even doingaffirmations, that's a form of
self-care, because you want tomake sure that you're priming

(11:31):
your brain so that everythingthat you do after that is
actually inspiring and notsomething that is going to, you
know, all those negative,self-limiting beliefs are going
to creep in.
So the things that we do rightbefore the actual work is
focusing on ourselves, becausethat's going to set us up for
success for the day.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Yeah, very, very good point.
I mean thinking about it interms of like.
I don't necessarily think of itin terms of self-care.
I think of it in terms of howdo I put myself into the best
mindset to do the work that Ineed to do and get the best
results?
Because if you're just tryingto throw together that other
stuff, like, you're going to notbe showing up at least I wasn't
showing up the way that Ineeded.
You're a coach with a big heartand a powerful desire to make a

(12:18):
real difference in the world, but what if you could increase
your impact, increase yourconfidence and grow a business

Thank you for being willing tolean in, and let's get right
back into the show Now.
When I get back from taking thekids to school, what happened
this Monday is I also teach andfacilitate and train in several
other businesses as a coach, andso for this one, I met with the
people from the Dad Edgebusinesses as a coach, and so

(13:01):
for this one, I met with thepeople from the dad edge.
I teach inside of theirbusiness boardroom and we put
together the topic in teachingthat we're going to be doing
that week.
So I basically am helpingputting together the
presentation and the trainingthat we're going to be giving
the men that are inside of theboardroom.
Then after that, I also team upwith a group of men from aims,
the aims Institute, where theyhelp people who have a million
dollar businesses, smallerbusinesses, but who need some

(13:21):
like leadership, coaching andmanagement systems, and so I
help with that part of thatprocess too.
On that morning Then you and Isat down and we put together our
launch plan on what theaccelerator launch plan is going
to look like how we're going toget people, how we're going to
find it, how we're going tobreadcrumb all the things that
we did, including, like some ofthe testimonials from our newest
people who are going through itand totally crushing it.
After that, I jumped on twodifferent consultation calls.

(13:43):
One was somebody who had aproblem finding new clients.
So, about 25 minutes afterwards, she had a plan to be able to
go and find new clients, andanother one was like struggling
to start her business.
She was getting her own waywhen it comes to starting
business, and, for her, I helpedher see how, in the past, she
had gotten in her own way withher own physical, mental health,
but she was able to get past itand get to the best shape of

(14:03):
her life and how.
This is no different, and soshe also now had a plan to be
able to tackle that.
So those are two differentconsultations that I did.
One of them is gonna continue towork with me, the other one I'm
gonna, o'clock in the morningwhen I go on a walk, I'll do a
couple things.
Number one is sometimes Ilisten to nothing and I just

(14:29):
like let my brain wander, justso we can get that rest
Sometimes.
Number two is I listen to apodcast or a book.
Right this day, though, what Iwanted to do is I want to check
in with our responding to themwhile I was walking, giving them
advice and direction andcoaching and stuff like that,
because we like to be able tohelp over deliver for our
clients.
So being able to do that whileI'm going on a walk kind of like
kills two birds with one stone.
And then we came back and I didwhat's called book ending my day

(14:51):
.
So like around 1145 ish on thatday I sat down I thought about
okay, what are all the things Iwas able to do and accomplish
today?
I gave myself some kudos forthat and then ask myself what do
I need to set myself up forsuccess for tomorrow?
So by the time I get back intobusiness tomorrow, I know what
I'm going to be focused on andso I can kind of unwind the day
and finish everything that, anything that I need to, so I

(15:11):
don't feel like I need to rushback into business a little bit
later when the kids are there.
And I did.
It's called bookending your day,and so I did that between 1145
and 12, and at 12 o'clock we atelunch and then you and I just
chilled, I think we watched WillTrent, which is which is our
thing.
So we watched Will Trent andthen at two o'clock I went to go
get the kids brought them backand then I made dinner.
I went on that walk with Jay.

(15:32):
Like I said, I got to play somevideo games with Andrew that
day.
We're playing a video gamecalled Honkai Star Rail and then
I got to spend 30 minutes withyou having conversations and
then I went to bed that dayaround 6.15, which isa little
late for me, it's a little bitlate.
And then I woke up the nextmorning and I did the same thing
, got to work at three.
So I mean, woke up at three, there we go, and so that's what

(15:54):
a day looks like, right?
I know some of the intricaciesin there, like when it comes to
like what I'm doing for work.
They change every day, right?
Monday is normally a reallyheavy planning day, a little bit
of consultation day.
Tuesdays, thursdays and Fridaysare heavy like client days.
Like I'm doing five, six, sevendifferent coaching calls in
those days.
Wednesdays are always date days, like nothing makes it to our
calendar because it's just meand Teresa dropping the kids off

(16:16):
and waving goodbye and then goand having some fun all day and
then picking them up a littlebit later.
Saturday we do a very quick callin the morning.
That's our coach accelerator, because we want people who are
maybe not able to make it duringthe week because they're
working full time to be able todevelop their coaching skills
and confidence.
So we do that on Saturday andthen Sunday.
We don't have anything that wehave planned, but I still wake
up between three and fouro'clock.
It's just the way it is, and Ido primarily this stuff in the

(16:38):
morning time.
When it comes to fueling mybrain, gratitude, planning out
the day, like Sunday, I do itlike as if it's a business day
because, like things to do withthe family and all that kind of
stuff, it's just as important.
It makes it to my schedule too.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
And that's when we plan our week ahead.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Yes, 100%, 100%.
So here's the thing I'd love tohear, like what spoke loudest
to you about this video.
If you made it this far, youliterally were listening to our
day to day.
I mean pretty much everythingthat I said in here, except for,
maybe, when I use the bathroom.
But besides that, like I'd loveto hear like what spoke loudest
to you, and maybe some things, maybe some ideas that you might

(17:14):
actually have, or some thingsthat you might even want to
recommend to us that has reallyreally helped you.
We'd love to hear it.
Regardless, this is one of thosethings where I constantly
remind myself I pinch myself allthe time that I get the
opportunity to do this, and ittook a lot of hard work while I
was working full-time in orderto be able to make this possible
.
And then sometimes, trace and Iwill just like look over at
like 12 o'clock and we'resitting down watching some TV

(17:36):
going.
Can you believe?
This is our life and we wantthat for you too.
So if that's something that wecan do for you, we have a
program, like we said, calledthe Coach Accelerator.
I'll leave you the link andinformation below.
We're actually going to beopening it very, very soon and
if you're on that waitlist, youactually get a special early
bird discount to be a part ofthat group.
But that's where we're helpingcoaches improve and increase

(17:58):
their income and impact byliterally focusing on their
confidence and their skills, sothey know that they can help
somebody through anything thatperson is struggling with and
being able to make a huge impactin the world.
So that's ever something you'dlike to do, we'll leave it for
you in there.
Otherwise, we'll see you guyson the next show.
Have a great day.
