"The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;"   Psalm 92:12 NIV

We are talking palm trees today — how they are flexible and moms should be too!

"We’re Floridians – we know palm trees, right? We know hurricanes too! And we know that after a hurricane, the live oaks and black olive trees are broken and strewn about, but those palms … they’re still standing after those fierce winds come and go!

I found out that palm trees are not classified as trees scientifically. They have their own specification that’s more closely related to grasses. This is because of the cellular make-up of their trunks – it makes them very different from other trees.

The trunks of palm trees are extremely flexible, even down to their individual cells. One article I read said that their cells are similar to rubber bands, they stretch in order to bend with the wind, but then they have the ability to return to their shape. That’s why palm trees can bend so dramatically in hurricane force winds and not snap when the winds blow in the opposite direction." ~ Nik Greenfield
