Memorial Day isn’t just a long weekend—it’s a sacred reminder of the sacrifice others have made so we can live and work freely.

In this short episode, I share why this holiday means so much to me, and how it’s made me pause and reflect on service, sacrifice, and legacy. Whether your work is paid or unpaid, titled or quiet, it leaves a lasting impact.

In this episode you’ll be encouraged to:

  • Reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day
  • Redefine success beyond money and titles
  • Consider the legacy your daily work is building

📝 Take a few minutes to journal: Who is my work ultimately for—and how am I serving them?

📖 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart…” – Colossians 3:23

Laura (00:00):
Hey, accelerators, may has been an absolutely amazing
month.
but this month it has beenMother's Day, which has been
absolutely lovely to beshowered, loved by five
wonderful children, and myfabulous husband to be
recognized for the things that Ido.

(00:22):
And hopefully you've hadsomething similar for you.
It's also graduation time.
You guys may have heard that mynephew is graduating and somehow
I'm old enough to have my firstlittle guy graduate.
It's crazy.
It's also Memorial Day, which isa beautiful day of remembrance.
The men and women who've giventheir lives in service of this

(00:44):
country so that we can havefreedom.
To have freedom with how wechoose to handle our money.
To be a part of commerce wherewe can spend money and choose to
spend money, how we want to havethe freedom of time, the freedom
of choice, the freedom ofmovement.
There are a lot of freedoms wehave in this country is the
greatest country on earth, andthat's why so many people are so

(01:06):
desperate to get in here.
That's why people are willing todie for this country.
Memorial Day used to be calledDecoration Day.
It was a day where people wouldget together and go decorate the
graves of their loved ones.
Over time, it's morphed into anational holiday where we
commemorate the lives of thosethat we have lost.

(01:28):
And so I don't want you to thinkof this as just a day off of
work or another holiday for abackyard barbecue, although this
is the official kickoff ofsummer.
There is a greater reason behindMemorial Day.
I, for one, could not be morethankful.
This girl, I was born onVeterans Day, and I'm thankful

(01:48):
for all the veterans that arealive that I can still say thank
you to, but wow, to give ofyourself.
The Bible says greater love hasno one oneness that he laid down
his life for his friends, andthat's what our servicemen and
women have done.
So as I'm reflecting on bothmotherhood, on my career, on

(02:11):
sacrifice, on service, whethermy work is paid or unpaid, it is
leaving a lasting impact on thepeople that I serve and the
people that I love.
Same is true for you.
Work has a ripple effect.
It's far beyond your title.
It's beyond your paycheck.
Your work is part of yourlegacy.
I.
So I just quickly wanted to saythat now is a good time as we

(02:35):
reflect to redefine what successlooks like instead of letting it
be about the title that you haveor the amount of money in your
bank account.
I would love for success to bedefined by who you serve.
Colossians 3 23 says, whateveryou do, work at it with all your

(02:56):
heart.
That's working for the Lord, notfor Human Masters.
I'm doing a lot of my ownreflecting, but I was thinking
of you and I.
I want you to look at the legacyimpact of the work that you are
doing and the people that youwere serving, the people that
you were serving, how are youimpacting them?
Are they walking away frominteractions with you with a
smile on their face?

(03:17):
Do they feel better?
Are they growing because of you?
I'd love for you to sit downwith a journal in your hand and
ask, who is my work ultimatelyfor who am I serving?
And then reflect on your answer.
It really is short and sweetthis week, accelerators.
Go out and make a difference.
