Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to More Than
Medicine, where Jesus is more
than enough for the ills thatplague our culture and our
country.
Hosted by author and physician,Dr Robert Jackson.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Papa, can you tell me
a story?
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Do you really want me
to tell you a story?
Well, you go, get your brotherand your sisters and I will tell
you a story.
Well, you go, get your brotherand your sisters and I will tell
you a story.
Welcome to Devotions with DrPapa.
Gather around, grab your Biblesand let us look into the
written Word, which reveals tous the living Word, who is our
(00:42):
Lord Jesus Christ.
Today we're at Genesis, chapter4, verses 10 through 12.
He said what have you done?
The voice of your brother'sblood is crying to me from the
ground.
Now you are cursed from theground, which has opened its
(01:02):
mouth to receive your brother'sblood from your hand.
When you cultivate the ground,it will no longer yield its
strength to you.
You will be a vagabond and awanderer on the earth.
May the Lord add His blessingto the reading from His Word.
(01:25):
The title of my lesson is theBlood that Still Speaks, the
blood that still cries out.
Of course, I'm speaking of theblood of Abel that cried out
from the ground.
Do you realize?
This was the first time bloodwas mentioned in the scripture
(01:49):
Not the blood of a sacrifice, but human blood shed in anger in
a murderous act.
Blood that still cries out overthe ages in protest of violent
crimes, in protest of the carnalpassions of the heart, such as
(02:15):
anger, hatred, jealousy thatstill precipitates violent
crimes that lead to murder.
Jesus told us on the Sermon onthe Mount that murder originates
(02:42):
where.
Well you know that cries outfrom the ground.
It cries out for justice.
Why is this story even includedin Scripture?
Theologians call this a type.
It's an actual event, but it'sa symbolic story that teaches
(03:07):
deeper spiritual lessons.
In this actual event we see twotypes Cain and Abel.
Abel is the type or picture ofthe seed of the woman those who
are righteous before God.
Seed of the woman those who arerighteous before God and yet
(03:32):
die violently at the hands ofthe seed of the serpent, those
who reject God, represented byCain.
Thus, abel's blood crying fromthe ground is the prototype, the
picture of all the sufferinginflicted on the righteous down
through the ages by the seed ofthe serpent.
Now just think of it.
(03:54):
Think of Saul.
After the Spirit of the Lorddeparted from him, he persecuted
and pursued David, who hadbecome the anointed of the Lord
and was destined to become theking.
Think of Ahab and Jezebelpursuing Elijah, who was the
(04:17):
anointed prophet of God.
Think of Nebuchadnezzar, whothrew Shadrach, meshach and
Abednego in the fiery furnacebecause they refused to worship
the golden image of that paganking.
Think of the false prophets whoconspired against Daniel and
(04:39):
had him thrown into the lion'sden him thrown into the lion's
den.
Think about the prophetJeremiah, who was falsely
accused and then thrown into amuddy cistern to die.
And the climax of all the agesis seen in the bloody conflict
between Satan and Jesus Christon Calvary.
(05:00):
You can imagine Cain'sdescendants, the Pharisees,
pulling out their beards andtearing their clothes when Jesus
accurately pointed out you wereof your father, the devil.
They were of the seed of Satan.
(05:21):
And they then demanded hiscrucifixion, telling Pilate His
blood be on us and on ourchildren.
Just like C back of in the bookof Hebrews, the scripture says
(05:51):
the blood of Christ speaksbetter things than that of Abel.
The scripture acknowledges thatthe blood of Abel continues to
cry out over the centuries, which cries out for vindication,
as does the blood of everyinnocent victim.
(06:13):
Yet the blood of God's precious, most innocent Passover lamb
speaks better things For you andI understand that the blood of
Jesus Christ cleanses us fromall sins.
1 John, chapter 1 and verse 7.
We have an advocate with theFather, jesus Christ the
(06:39):
righteous, who is thepropitiation for our sins.
Understand clearly, brothersand sisters Jesus is both our
lawyer, our intercessor, and theperfect sacrifice.
That word propitiation means toconciliate or to sins.
(07:10):
He satisfied the violatedjustice and offended
righteousness of God.
He is our advocate with theFather, he, jesus Christ the
righteous, who is thepropitiation for our sins.
(07:31):
And again, I submit to you, heis both our lawyer, slash
intercessor and the perfectsacrifice.
And it is the blood of JesusChrist that cleanses us from all
sins.
His blood speaks better thingsthan the blood of righteous Abel
(07:56):
, even though the blood of Abelcontinues to speak.
Even today, the conflict betweenthe wicked seed of the serpent
and the righteous seed of theserpent and the righteous seed
of the woman continues.
Satan persecutes the churchthrough his wicked offspring all
(08:19):
over the world.
Today, satan's inexorable marchtoward the prophetically
predicted one-world governmentis seen all around us in the
manipulations of the WorldEconomic Forum and the World
Health Organization.
(08:40):
Communist and Islamic nationsbrutally suppress the Christian
church.
But always remember that theblood of the martyrs is the seed
of the church.
Seven new Christians sprang upfrom every drop of blood shed by
(09:03):
the enemies of Christ.
It may seem to be a time ofimminent victory for Satan and
his wicked seed, but we've readthe end of the book and we know
for certain that Satan's finaldefeat is only awaiting the
glorious return of thevictorious Lord Jesus Christ.
(09:27):
So be encouraged in the dailybattle against the evil one.
For Romans 16 and verse 20tells us the God of peace shall
bruise Satan under your feetshortly.
The grace of our Lord JesusChrist be with you.
(09:49):
Did you catch that?
The God of peace shall bruiseSatan under your feet shortly.
God of peace shall bruise Satanunder your feet shortly.
The grace of our Lord JesusChrist be with you.
Remember that greater is hethat is in you than he that is
in the world.
(10:09):
But that's not the end of allthe symbolism that's in this
couple of scripture verses thatwe're looking at today.
God's punishment of Cainrepresents the ultimate crushing
of the head of the serpent, when he will be forever
separated from the presence ofGod in the lake of fire.
Cain was forever driven outfrom the presence of the Lord.
(10:34):
From the presence of the Lord.
That's got to be one of thesaddest verses in the Bible.
But listen to me.
In the same way, all those whoobey not the gospel of Christ
will be punished witheverlasting destruction, away
from the presence of the Lordand from the glory of his power.
(10:58):
Just like Cain, all of thosewho do not obey the gospel of
Christ will be separated awayfrom God in everlasting
destruction.
So let me ask a question why didGod not, well, why did God
(11:20):
allow Cain to live?
Why did he not require bloodfor blood, life for life?
We can only speculate here.
Was he to be a perpetualreminder of the awful
consequences of sin, especiallymurder, as he wandered about
(11:44):
trying to coax a meagerexistence from the ground?
No doubt the other antediluvianpopulation encountered him from
time to time in his wanderingsand he was a constant reminder
of the horrible consequences ofmurder.
(12:04):
Even today, god allows the seedof the woman, the righteous and
God-fearing, to coexist withthe seed of the serpent, the
wicked and rebellious God-haters.
He allows the tares and thewheat, the good seed and the bad
(12:25):
seed, to grow together untilthe time of the harvest, known
the way of righteousness but hadturned away from the holy
(12:49):
commandment delivered unto themis condemnation is condemnation.
You see, cain's ultimate fatewas condemnation, and the
ultimate fate of all who turnaway from righteousness once
they had known the holycommandment delivered unto them?
Their ultimate fate iscondemnation.
(13:13):
The Bible doesn't tell us ifCain ever repented and turned
back to God.
If he had, I'm confident Godwould have let us know.
But, dear listener, your storyis not fully recorded.
There is still time for you.
What stands between you and God?
(13:36):
You?
What stands between you and God?
Bitterness, anger, jealousy,unforgiveness, stubborn pride,
some sin that you are guardingin your heart.
The Bible tells us that Godresists the proud, but he gives
grace to the humble.
Humble yourself under themighty hand of God, to the
(13:57):
humble.
Humble yourself under themighty hand of God and he will
lift you up.
Remember, and I've told youthis before it doesn't matter
how many steps you have gone inthe wrong direction.
It only takes one step to getback to God, and that step is
confession and repentance.
And that step is confession andrepentance.
That step is God, forgive me, Iwas wrong and you were right.
