Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Synopsis
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, based on the DC Comics miniseries of the same name, tells the story of Supergirl as she embarks on a spacefaring adventure. Unlike previous iterations of the character, this film will showcase a more hardened Supergirl, shaped by the traumatic loss of her home planet, Krypton.
The narrative centers around a young alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll, who hires Supergirl to seek revenge against Krem of the Yellow Hills, the man who murdered her father. Krem, a ruthless killer working for the kingscouncil, had previously encountered Ruthye's father while identifying dissidents. Displeased by the man's reaction to a crude joke, Krem killed him.
The situation escalates when Krem, aware of the bounty on his head, tracks down Ruthye. In the confrontation that ensues, Krem seriously injures Krypto, Superman's dog, before escaping. This act, reminiscent of John Wick's motivation in the film of the same name, fuels Supergirl's pursuit of Krem across the galaxy.
Krem eventually joins a band of space pirates known as Barbond's Brigands, participating in their genocidal activities. During this time, he masters the use of a Mordru Globe, a magical artifact.
Supergirl and Ruthye eventually catch up to Krem. He attempts to kill them using the Mordru Globe but fails. In the following confrontation, Supergirl defeats the Brigands and captures Krem.
While Krem is imprisoned, he reveals the callous reasoning behind killing Ruthye's father. He then manipulates Ruthye into freeing him, leading to a final confrontation where Supergirl ultimately defeats him. Rather than killing him, she sentences him to 800 years in the Phantom Zone. When he is eventually released, an elderly Ruthye ends his life.
**The film adaptation, directed by Craig Gillespie, stars Milly Alcock as Supergirl and Matthias Schoenaerts as the antagonist, Krem of the Yellow Hills. ** The movie is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026.
