lt I didn't tell you when my dad turned seventy
two weeks ago. I called him what The conversation lasted
about six minutes because he was outside the restaurant about
to go in for the birthday dinner. What do you
think we talked about for four of those six minutes?
Speaker 1 (04:42):
On his urging, I'm going to guess the breasts of
a female fighter.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
It was all the code of distuva all the time,
and I was like, all right, Dad, I know I
follow her too. We don't have to go down this
road together.

on be in Sport in the United States. I'm not
sure we're all Also, there's globally bongie in Brazil, but
I'll tweet out some stuff.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
All right, shout out to all our bongie Brazilian fans
out there. Let's turn the corner and get right into
this show with topic Numero uno. For our Spanish fans, Hey,
it's Canelo Crawford or Crawford Canelo fallout time, little hangover
from last weekend's super fight. We're talking ratings and we're
talking the future here. So after rewatching last Saturday's Crawford
(05:42):
Canelo fight multiple times, I'm curious this weather. Lt opinion
of this fight has changed, from the scoring to the
performances of either boxer and considering Canelo reportedly holds a
rematch clause, and podcaster Bill Simmons of All People on
Monday said on his podcast that a second fight is coming,
although no one else has seemed to corroborate that report. LT.
(06:04):
Let's start right here. He is a Crawford Canelo rematch
warranted from any of the following stout standpoints, competition ratings,
or even fan demand.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
In your eyes, warranted. Warranted is an interesting use of
the word. I would say warranted. No, But the reality
is plenty of rematches get made in boxing that are
not warranted. Some get made because they are, But if
this one were to be made, it would not be
because it's warranted. I mean, listen, you know there are
(06:36):
lots of people would and everyone's got their own biases,
and there's lots of different perspectives. And when I was
watching in real time, I thought, you know, kind of
tie goes to the runner, right, if a round is close,
the judges are just going to give it to Canelo. Actually,
there's something to be said for that. If we with
that scoring one to fifteen and one thirteen, if Bud
doesn't really turn it on late, he doesn't win that fight.
But of course he did, and so it didn't matter.
(06:56):
But what I'm trying to make is upon my rewatch
and upon my review BC, for whatever that is worth, Bro,
this was not that close. I mean, the reason why
you can say it is close is what you what
you might mean by that is Bud didn't really beat
Canelo up and if Canelo was ever able to really surge,
(07:18):
there wasn't enough ground between them for Bud to necessarily,
you know, deny that. But that never happened. Like Bud, dude,
Bud's game plan in this fight was perfect, I mean
truly perfect. How do we take away Canelo's weapons and
then keep ourselves defensively safe so we don't have to
(07:39):
take big shots anymore than might be required, and they
did it. They did it like super well, like dude.
Canelo was figured out in this fight quickly, quickly, but.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
It was competitive, it was it was close in a
scoring standpoint.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Maybe not visually it's like on the scores, but BC
here's the difference. Can Nello got figured out quickly and
Canelo never had an answer for Bud. There's he had.
He had a couple of good rounds where he was
able to land a little bit more, but he could
never sustain it. He couldn't Like what this what I'm
(08:14):
trying to point out, like what did what did Bud do?
Bud did a bunch of things. Partly he'd had, you know,
lead foot dominance or lead foot position, because sometimes it
was inside, sometimes it was outside. But he took away
the job. I've talked about this already. He took away
the jab of Canelo, which forced Canelo to go to
those wide hooks where he had to step wide so
he's off balanced throwing hooks to the outside and Bud
ate him up on the inside. He forced Canelo to
(08:36):
go wide and make these long leaps by taking away
his job, and then he had an answer for every
one of those things. What is the equivalent in this
fight that Canelo did that to Bud? It doesn't exist,
It doesn't.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Real adjustment Canelo made was wash with his job completely gone,
was going to the lead right hand in the middle
rounds and finding a home for it. But you know
the problem was Bud adjusted out of that as well.
Yeah quickly, Yeah, Bud was onced all right, real quick.
I scored it eight four in the stadium, rewatch. I
had an eight four for Crawford. I just switched a
couple of those very close rounds in either direction, same
(09:10):
score in the end. I know you've watched it multiple times.
You've got a highly highly appreciated review of this fight
in terms of the style and the technique of Bud
on your YouTube channel. Did your score.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Change nine to three? I can give. I mean, I
think round five is probably Canelo's best. There was a
couple of the ones you could throw in there, for sure,
But that's about it. Dude, like this, but Bud, you
know again, Bud didn't beat Canelo up. That didn't happen.
This was not you know, and I'm not saying that
anyone doesn't know, but this was nothing like the Aerol
Spence fight in that sense, but in terms of like
(09:44):
a game of chess, not that close, not that close.
And so for that reason is there a ton of
fan demand? I mean to answer the question you asked
at the beginning, is it warranted? No, However, be seen,
I think you'd probably agree with this in the end.
What matters is what Canelo will do, partly because you
mentioned that he has that rematch clause, or he could
(10:05):
just come out and try and make the public case
for it. I want another crack at it, and I
want to do it again, blah blah blah. He can
make an argument for it, in which case it'll happen,
and it'll probably do at least decently well at the
box office. But if you're a Canelo fan, what are
you hanging on to as a sign that this was
something he could do better in the second time? Honestly,
I think bud routes are even worse the second time.
And the other part too, BC is if Canelo now
(10:27):
he had I mean, not that the belts were ever
a real impediment, because the sanctioning body's never made him
enforce the mandatories all that much, but now that there's
no belts and he's older. He just made a ton
of money, right, just fight Jake Paul.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
I mean, I don't even want the Jake paulf I'd
rather fight Shiraz. I think I could make some fun
matchups and Billy if he gets past Lester Martinez in
the rematch. But we'll see what happens. I agree. I
think ultimately we'll get into the ratings in a second.
I think it could have been actually promoted better the
first time. I think the profile of this fight actually
got raised because the fight was so entertaining and because
(11:02):
of Bud's historic performance. So if they go in that direction,
if they offer Crawford something closer to the A side
money that Canelo received, I wonder if we do see
it again, if Netflix believes that the ratings were worth
it a second time. Let's quickly hear from Terrence Crawford,
who Monday Night was brought in on Monday Night football
at Allegiance Stadium. Turkey Alichik also made an appearance there,
(11:24):
signing Tom Brady for this touch touch butt in the
Park Football League we got coming up for seventy five million.
Here's Terrence Crawford with the ESPN Mexico when he's asked
directly about a rematch, a.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
Rematch Cannello Crawford, do you think it'll happen?
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Can it get pass on? I don't know. We shall
see hitty Nick. What would have to happen? I don't know.
Speaker 6 (11:45):
You know, right now, I'm you know, talking with my team,
and you know I'm one of two days fresh off
of a fight. I'm just gonna go home, relax. I
got a birthday in two weeks and just going enjoy
my victory for now.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
Yeah. I think he's kind of saying, is if you
show me the money, if you want to do this
really big a second time, I'd be down for it.
Let's see if the if the competitor in Canelo believes
that he can win it. He thought after that bev
All loss that he could win it. He wanted to
run it back right away. We'll find out quick look
at the punch stats of that fight, just to further
tell the story of who won this one sixty five
(12:21):
to one thirty two, but had the overall advantage. You
see the more attempts. But lt you know that we
always talk about that forty percent power punches landed. If
you landed at least forty percent, you've probably won the fight.
First of all, to show how high level this fight was,
Canelo landed Yeshi of fifty percent of his power punches.
But dude, fifty six percent from Bud Holy shit, man right,
(12:45):
good lord?
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Again, up three. I don't care if they can call
it too. It's up three weight classes. That kind of
accuracy on your power, dude, that's just it. It's unheard of.
It's on or pretty close to God damn unheard of.
It's just a level of again, domination in the sense
of punishment, No, but it was domination in the sense
(13:06):
of a game of strategic chess in boxing. That it was,
and you can see that the stats speak to that reality.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
All right, let's talk about the impact and the results.
We've heard statistically about the event, Netflix reporting that this
was quote the most viewed men's championship boxing match of
the century. Now, there's certainly some qualifiers in there, but
let's look at the raw numbers in this tweet. We
know that the gate is the third highest in boxing history.
The attendance of over seventy thousand was the most in
(13:34):
Las Vegas boxing history. Also, an Allegiance Stadium record, we
knew about the purses of both gentlemen equally two hundred
million overall. But Luke, the numbers everybody are focusing on
are this twenty five million concurrent viewers during the main event,
which is compared to sixty five million for Mike Tyson
and Jake Paul. Forty one million viewers worldwide overall. Half
(13:58):
of those were in the United States States compared to
one hundred and eight million for Tyson Paul. If you
want to compare that to Taylor Serrano three, which was
the third Netflix card that did six million views overall.
I know there's been some in the media. Front Office
Sports had a story about this a couple other places
that some people are accusing Netflix of counting these numbers
(14:20):
in a very not shameful but maybe slightly disingenuous way.
But that argument aside, because we're both not experts on
how these numbers are are collected. Is it fair to
call this fight a success looking at those numbers? Or
is it too early in the streaming era and kind
of impossible to compare this fight or these three Netflix
(14:43):
cards to let's say Mayweather Pakia, which set a pay
per view North American record, but we have no idea
with illegal streaming and the numbers from the countries around
the world, how many people actually watch this? When you
hear forty one million for Canelo Crawford given all the
money in the pop in circumstance, do you call this
a success for Netflix, Turkey and TKO.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
You said the concurrent number was twenty five million. Yes,
So to me, that's that's all you really need to hear.
I mean, look, for example, right, so Canelos, what am
I saying? Mayweather Pakia? We were there. You know, that
was at the MGM Grand. It was a very small venue,
but the charging of the tickets was extraordinary. This was
the stadium. You know, imagine what Mayweather Pakia would have
(15:26):
been at a stadium because they would have sold it
out and it would have been extraordinary. They didn't do that.
They they kept it at the casino or you know,
like for example, pick anything else at at T Mobile.
T Mobiles also an arena. It's not a stadium. So
I think that that gate is amazing. But you know,
you could make the argument, hey, well okay, but they
were at a stadium like that makes it a little
bit different. In terms of just, you know, what is
(15:47):
even economically possible given the scale of how big the
audience is. That's true, and yes, could they could Netflix
have fudged some of their numbers that maybe as well.
Dode twenty five million concurrent understand something that's well, that's
that's a that's a you know, I mean, obviously, big
time NFL games, particularly playoffs, can do upwards of forty million,
(16:08):
and the Super Bowl upwards of one hundred. You know,
it's not it's not that, but twenty five million is,
you know, certainly in the ballpark, and I think at
even a decent range of an NFL game. And if
you're not for the United States, you might not appreciate this.
The NFL is the most popular sport here or football,
American football by a country mile. Dude. If you can
put on a fight that can draw fifty million at
(16:30):
the gate and you can do numbers on par with
an NFL game, how is that anything other than a success.
We used to talk for.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Years, way bigger than an NFL game. Luke, this is
on par with like big NFL playoff games.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
In his well, I've seen NFL playoff games do upwards
of forty million, So it's not that but but yeah,
but this, but this is what I'm talking about, Like
this is this is a good rating for the NFL.
This is a good rating for the NFL. Twenty five
million Concurrent is a good rating for the NFL. How
is that anything other than a success? There are questions
to be asked. Are there bigger matchups you could put
on that would do bigger numbers? Potentially even Tank versus Jake? Yes,
(17:05):
that's there. You could have some questions about was this
fight promoted as fully or as interestingly as it needed
to be? And I think there are some criticisms you
could make. I don't think we talked about it on
fight week that the promotion felt all the way there
and then halfway there it was. It was weird feeling.
You know, they were clearly doing something, but it didn't
feel like Mayweather Pacchiao, and it didn't feel like even
Mayweather Canalo, to be honest with you, in terms of
(17:26):
the promotion went. But nevertheless, look at the numbers. Do
twenty five million Concurrent on Netflix is a guaranteed winner.
I would be shocked if they look at that and
think anything other than Chi Ching. I don't have a
problem with it, and I seriously doubt Netflix does either.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Yeah, I mean it's hard to quote it the way
that Netflix did. What did I have as the quote
the most viewed men's championship boxing match of the century,
because I again, the really big pay per views, the
Mayweather McGregor's, the Mayweather Pacquiao's, the Mayweather Canelos, the Mayweather
de la Hoyas. I don't know if all four of those,
which did over two million North American buys. You just
(18:02):
don't know how many people were actually watching that worldwide.
But to say that we're in an era when there's
enough money behind the scenes from Turkey and Netflix to
not have to put a fight like this on pay
per view, to literally have three fourths of our country
having access to it, Yeah, it feels like a big win.
It's not gonna do Tyson Paul numbers because it's not
Mike Tyson and it's not the circus element of a
(18:23):
middle aged man. Let's close here. We did debate potential
Crawford next opponents, whether it's a Canlo rematch, whether it's retirement,
whether it's go down the middleweight to try to get
a title in a sixth way class. We seem to
skip over the idea of Crawford versus Benavidez. I want
to get your take on whether we should skip over
that or whether if David can come down to sixty
(18:44):
eight that is a thing that could happen now. Bomack
was asked after the fight. He's like, no, absolutely not.
I found this interesting clip of Crawford before the fight
talking with the Pound for Pound show Suhudo and Usmann
explaining why, in his eyes, it would never be realistic.
Speaker 7 (19:02):
Would you ever entertain a fight with the.
Speaker 6 (19:04):
Benavidas got understand.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
I gotta ask you, bro, because I can't.
Speaker 6 (19:09):
You know, my thing is Benavidez is a big dude.
Not to say I won't fight him. I thought his brother,
the brother was big when I follo him. The only
reason why I entertained Canelo is because he's not a
big dude. He might be thig, but he's not a
big dude. Benevida is like six foot something.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Then you're gonna come in.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
One ninety probably, you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (19:29):
Like you never know, Like that's a big dude. You
can him as well go to heavyweight if I fight Benavidez.
Speaker 8 (19:36):
Yeah, I understand what you're what you're looking at.
Speaker 5 (19:39):
You're like, you know what, he.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Just size him up.
Speaker 6 (19:40):
You just size him up, especially when you're going into
a bigger weight class like that. You size him up
and you see your advantages.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Now, look that was before the fight. I'm not asking
you if he if he will fight him or if
he should, because it's Bud's decision. He's made so much
history that if he wants to retire, no one's gonna
blink an eye. But you watched what he did to
Canelo multi sltiple times. Now at one hundred and sixty
eight pounds. Do you think he could beat David Benavitez
if enough money was put on the table for that
(20:08):
fight to be possible.
Speaker 9 (20:09):
No.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
I think David Benavidez eventually marches him down again. There's
a big question of if he can even make it
to sixty eight and whether or not that's even a
good idea. Let's just assume that he could. I just
think that dude, David Benavidez is a wall. He's taken
punchers from much punch excuse me, from much bigger guys
and just marches them down and you know, listen, maybe
Bud could make it close. Maybe Bud could last the
(20:32):
full twelve he doesn't get stopped. I could believe that. Again,
he's got pretty good, really good defense, but just the
offensive firepower at David Benavidez I just think is way
too much at this point. So you know, listen, you
could make the argument, oh, is Bud cherry picking who
he wanted to fight at sixty eight? I mean, yeah,
in a sense, he is right, Like, I mean, he
picked the guy with all the belts, but the guy
with all the belts happened to be just the right
(20:52):
kind of size for this thing to be possible. But
you can see that, like a sixty eight campaign falls
apart pretty quickly. And now if he holds onto the belts, well,
then the sanctioning bodies have to force what they have
to force. But you know, Benavidez doesn't have anything at
sixty eight and any more business at sixty eight, so
there's no mandatory forcing him in that direction either. So no,
I don't, I don't. I don't think it's not to.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Mention that the guy, the bigger man that that Crawford
just beat it was shamelessly ducking that if it is so. Yeah,
there you go. Now to fully close on this category
about Caneloh, our boy, Oscar de la Hoya chimed in
on Clapback Thursday. We're not gonna play that.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
We're not gonna watch the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
He dunks on everybody from Canelo to day in a way.
But here's the specific Canelo part. You knew Oscar was
gonna chime in.
Speaker 10 (21:37):
It's time for the only segment in boxy that gives
you the facts and makes you laugh. It's Clapback Thursdays.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
God, it makes me worthy.
Speaker 10 (21:48):
Yeah, baby, to tell you I told you so. I
tell you I predicted the Canelo Crawford fight like a
goddamn fortune teller.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
You're the oracle.
Speaker 10 (21:58):
Canelo's feet were cemented on the canvas as he was
hitting air. What the fuck was that?
Speaker 2 (22:04):
Props to Crawford.
Speaker 10 (22:05):
He came up three weight classes and fought a beautiful fighter.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
What a great performance?
Speaker 6 (22:11):
Did you get what she was looking for?
Speaker 10 (22:13):
Like taking candy from a baby.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
My candy?
Speaker 10 (22:17):
He just played with Canelo made him look silly. And
before you start with your shit about Canelo being old,
just know that Crawford is older. That's not an excuse here. Look,
I promoted Canelo's entire career, put some fucking respect on it,
and it was a huge fluff. The only real fighters
he's faced were Mayweather, bevol and Crawford, and they all
(22:40):
toyed with him. Even Mayweather knew Crawford was going to school.
He put fifty thousand dollars on Crawford to win.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Look pretty salty. There is there any truth scenes in
what oscars saying a.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Little bit, A little bit, a little bit, I mean,
definitely the feat being planted. We knew that, you know,
him being a little bit older, but you know, I mean,
there's fair criticisms to make of Canelo, and we've made them.
But Oscar's just dunking on a rival or a former
friend or a former business partner or whatever you want
to say, Like there's no way to again, the arguments
(23:16):
are what they are, but he's just filled with personal
animus and we should be very clear about that.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
I mean, this is shameless. I'm not believing me Like
I got upset when Turkey dunked on Tim Zoo there,
which I felt was over the top. This is another
category because it's Oscar, because he's always in a shameless
other category. All right, Canelo Crawford to bed. But let's
go to topic number two. I don't really want to
talk about this, but a lot of people are, so
let's just get through it. Eliot Taporia or top Todia,
(23:43):
as Connor McGregor would say, continues to try to be
Terrence Crawford's next boxing opponent, and Luke considering Taporia is
the powfer pound king in MMA and UFC's biggest star,
I don't think he's anywhere near the fame that Connor
McGregor was when he started a campaign for Floyd Mayweather
in twenty sixteen. That was also before this crossover circus
(24:06):
boxing Bonanza bubble was launched. So shouldn't Eliot Taporia, I
don't know, be better than the constant shameless horring he's
doing attempting to lure Terrence Crawford into a boxing match.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Yeah, he seems oblivious to a lot of things. It's
quite quite remarkable. I I I mean, I sort of
get why MMA fighters would do it. Like there's this
financial component right where you're like, oh, if you get
this fight, how big would it be? Okay, there's that,
and then there's the component of a lot of them
(24:43):
are completely delusional about what their skill set is and
how good it is relative to you know, top boxers,
so they think, oh, I could really do I could
I could do something in there, you know. So there's
a bit of delusion in the financial top turn. Yeah,
all right, come on, This is why I try to
explain to people. And I mean, you know, we're not
it's not July twenty tween three anymore, and we're not
at one forty seven. But when Bud destroyed and I
(25:05):
truly I mean he hasn't fought since. When when Bud
destroyed Spence, Spence had never been knocked down, was undefeated,
and was on the pound for pound list, Like the
notion that the dude just think about this, Do you
think Tuporia could survive again Spence? Because I don't. No,
I don't think that. I think Spence would light his
ass up. And look what Bud did to him, Like,
(25:27):
what the fuck are we talking about? You know, Dana
often poopoos these things and sometimes in a way where
it's like okay, but you know, listen, just be real.
Are there certain is there a certain market for freak
show fights? There always has been and there always will be.
Is there a market for crossover fights once in a while,
of course, you know Tyson Fury versus Francis and Ganu.
(25:48):
I think we all got a little something out of that.
It can happen. It ain't happening with Bud Crawford. I mean,
let's just be in what a complete waste of everyone's time?
Speaker 2 (25:57):
Lo Leenda just fought at one forty five a minute ago.
Crawford just beat the best sixty eight pounder not named
Benavidez in the world. Well, I guess Benevitez ain't at
sixty eight anymore. But like, what are we doing here? Bra,
Come on, have some self respect.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
You know, Like everyone was like, oh, we hate Toporia,
we find him annoying. I'm starting to understand. I'm starting
to get vob horns.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Yes please.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
It's like it's like you know again, I mean, if
you covered the fight game long enough, you lived through
all of this, dude, you remember all those weeks and
it didn't last that long. But it definitely was an
attempt by kamar Usman to be like, oh yeah, I'm
gonna get that Canelo fight, you know what I mean.
And Jorge Maslow was looking for that Canelo fight. Like
you know, this is one of those things now that
(26:41):
just kind of pops up every now and again. Uh,
and it's it. It just stays dumb. It stays dumb,
Like I don't know what, dude, Just fight Islam. Just
fight Islam. You don't have to do anything else. Just
fight it. Worry about Islam's got worry about.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Whoever they got next with? Hey, how about this fight
like three times? Because you're at the point where you're
about to be a global phenomenon. Become that first before
you start doing this. All right, we remember the back
and forth between them. Here's Bud Crawford on Monday's Ariel
Hawane Show responding to that.
Speaker 9 (27:16):
I'm not worried about that guy at all. To be honest,
I've never even seen his dude fight. I didn't even
know who he was when he seen me at the UFC.
He came up and shake my hand saying, what's up
to me? I don't even know who he was. And
I see him on online talking about here knocked me out,
and well, if you want to fight me, you had
an opportunity to tell me, like, hey man, I want
(27:37):
to fight you.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
What's up, that's fate.
Speaker 9 (27:39):
I'm not going to go high behind you know, the
keyboard and go I knocked this dude out this and that,
And I definitely think he's trying to cloud Chase. I
think he'll definitely get it ring with me for the
right check. That's what we all do it for it.
But at the same time, I don't know what the
fuck you? Oh no, what do you think of this way?
You know, even as we'll talk.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
About you have interest in fighting him. So what would
be money?
Speaker 9 (28:08):
What money would I get out of fighting him? Tell
me how much I'm gonna get out of fighting him.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
Floyd made a lot, obviously to fight Connor.
Speaker 9 (28:15):
He's not nowhere near on the level of Connor McGregor.
Let's be real, stop it. Don't ever compare him to Connor.
Connor was here. He's here. Like I said, I don't
know this guy. I never seen this guy fight, and
I watch a lot of MMA, you know what I mean.
Maybe you know what I mean I'm slipping. Maybe he's
a good fighter, you know what I mean. I don't know,
(28:37):
but I honestly never seen this guy fight.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
For sure.
Speaker 9 (28:40):
I've seen Connor McGregor fight a lot of times it's night.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
I think he's right, Luke. On the money, I mean,
Bud just made between forty and fifty million against Canalo.
If they do a rematch, you gotta believe he's gonna
get upwards of seventy five eighty most likely right because
he won the first fight. If he does any fight
with Turkey right now, he's probably probably going to get
way more than even a Netflix freak show to Poria
Bud fight. Let's just stop talking about it. Here's Taporia's
(29:07):
reaction to that interview. Oh god, I can't read it.
Where are my glasses? Luke? Can you read that shit?
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Yeah? You say you're an MMA fan, but you don't
even know who I am. Interesting. The first time we met,
you told me good luck this week with your fight.
Your memory fails you, and soon your chin will, Oh god,
sooner your chin will too. I'll represent the entire MMA
community pound for pound number one in real fights versus
the pound for pound buck, dude, this whole thing where
like MMA is a real fight. If it's a real fight,
(29:33):
then why are there referees and rules? Motherfucker? Like, just
get the fuck out of here with this shit.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Luckily, for Dana, The best thing he said last week
was this right here.
Speaker 8 (29:45):
One last one for you, Dana. You're now officially promoting
boxing shows. We have UFC lightweight champion Iliot Taporia saying
he's gonna knock out Terrence Crawford. Can we expect some
crossover boxing matches like you did with Mayweather McGregor moving forward.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
I certainly hope not.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
That was awesome.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
That's my attitude too. I certainly hope not.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
There is one more thing to say about this fight, however,
and it was said by Shakur Stevenson, who was also
on Ariel Hawani show this week, and I think it
was up to the level where we got to bring
in Quervo here for a little bit of shots fired.
And this shots fired brought to you by Querrevo. Now's
(30:34):
a good time to enjoy the tequila that invented tequila.
Here's Schakour talking about Budd versus Taporia, but not just
in boxing.
Speaker 7 (30:44):
I've kind of seen a picture of Budd that being
him up before Budd was going to his workout, of
leaving his workout. I think them guys gotta leave but alone.
I think Budd Crawford is just different in a boxing
ring with him, Broy, you're not gonna last more than round.
I don't think you bet off seeing UFC like Budd
is the guy that I wouldn't be surprised if he
(31:05):
gets into UFC and beat the shit out of some
guys too, because he got a great wrestling background. I
don't seen him wrestle real wrestlers, like real wrestlers on
some everyday shit. Because Bud looked bigger than that guy.
He got longer arms. I wouldn't be surprised come fight
night if they do an m May fight. If Budd
does knocked him out sleep or choked him to death,
(31:26):
I just wouldn't be surprised.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
Wow, all right, slow your roll a bit, Chakore. But
I did kind of like the he'll beat you at
boxing and MMA.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Yeah, I'll tell you this. If there is a guy
who could do I mean it's too late now obviously,
but if there's a guy who's got the profile to
do MMA from boxing, it's Bud Crawford. I Mean, we've
all known that he's got a wrestling background, phenomenal athlete,
but more than that, a master strategist. You know, he's
just he's a special character. But like, dude, what are
we doing? Like? There are interesting fights for but in boxing,
and there's plenty of interesting fights for ILIA and MMA.
(31:55):
That's good enough for me, BC, it's good enough for me.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
With you and if you are more of Quervo and
Morning Combat, well get ready. UFC three twenty is right
around the corner. How about Friday, October third, one day
before UFC three twenty, your boys in MK Morning Combat
will be giving you a pregame preview live from New
York City. And guess who are third man? Will be Luke.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Well, the answer is are we going to get or
the question is rather, are we going to get lice?
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Yes? Yes we will, but I think it'll be worth it.
When Jed Mishu the Second makes his return to the studio,
let's go all right, booked, ready to go, Let's get
fired up right there? Thank you Cuervo. No more talking
about La le endo. Let's go to topic number three. Hey,
this could be a continuation of fights that people don't want.
(32:44):
It's up to your decision on there, let's talk Jake
Paul versus Jervonte, Tank Davis now Most Valuable Promotions withdrew
their request for permits with the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment
Commission this week for the aforementioned Crossover circus exhibition match,
after chairman Rick Thompson told USA Today that MVP was
quote attempting to promote something they should not have been. Instead,
(33:09):
MVP announced that the Friday, November fourteenth next Netflix fight
will now take place in Miami at the Cassea Center.
And there are even more rumors out there that the
promotion might be trying to actually get this commissioned as
an actual fight and not an exhibition one that would
count for real on both records. Luke, considering the state
(33:29):
of George's decision, is this a bad idea, a really
bad idea to continue on with this fight, or should
we wake up that maybe this fight brings the opportunity
for some circus fun for as long as it lasts,
provided nobody gets hurt.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
Uh. I'll say this, I understand why the Georgia Athletic
Commission doesn't want any part of this. They don't see
it as a reasonable ask by a promoter, they don't
see it as a worthwhile exercise of the sport, and
they don't want to be in charge of this kind
(34:08):
of a thing. And I understand and respect that. You know, BC,
you and I lived. I mean, there's been many examples
of such, but this is what they call commission shopping,
where you know, you go to a commission and they
say no, so you're just like, well, screw it, I'm
just going to go to a place that you know
doesn't regulate at the same kind of level, and that
would be Texas or Florida. Sure enough, they ended up
(34:28):
in Florida. In that sense, it's not surprising. For example,
when Pacquiao Margarito was made, they tried to do it
in New York and New York was like, yeah, we're
not licensing Margarito, so they just took it to Jerry's
World in Texas. I mean, that's exactly what happened, because
they wouldn't license them due to an eye injury, and
they just took them to Texas. Like this kind of
thing happens all the time, so you know there's precedent
(34:50):
for this. And you know, BC, am I really expecting
some kind of disaster in this fight? Like when I
say disaster, I mean I'm not a question of is
the fight or bad, but rather like, am I expecting
some kind of god forbid, medical emergency or some kind
of you know, otherwise disreputable thing, other than the fact
(35:12):
that this is an insane mismatch, both in skill on
one end and size on the other. No, but I
can understand why Georgia would say, Look, there's an insane
mismatch on skill on one end and size on the other,
especially if you want on the professional record. We don't
want any part of this. But we live in a
federal system, so you can just take your show to
(35:34):
a place that doesn't have those concerns. And that's exactly
what we got.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
This could have been Tachi Palace's gift from Dana, but
I guess they didn't make that phone call.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
It's coming. No, no, no, no, no, Tachi. The show at
Tachi Palace is like that dad that went out for
cigarettes and then never came back.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
You know what I mean, Well said to illustrate the
difference between them. Jake Paul weighed one hundred and ninety
nine point four pounds and his victory over Chavez Junior
back in June. Tank Davis weighed one hundred and thirty
three point eight pounds in his March draw with Lamont
Roach Junior. The size difference is also wide, but you
(36:10):
wouldn't know it by the new poster. Let's take a
look at it, GTA style. Look they're the same height.
Look at that.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
First of all. First of all, that doesn't even look
like Tank BC. By the way, the guy I'm about
to say got signed by Top Rank yesterday. Scooter DC's
owned Scooter Davis. He looks like Scooter Davis in this
pick he does.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
It looks like random create an African American fighter on
a video game.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
It really yeah. I mean they've got Tank's tattoos. They
got that part, but the rest of it, I'm not
so sure.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
The Nikisa Badarian would give an interview to ESPN in
response to George's decision. He would say, quote, Unfortunately, we
made the decision to withdraw the event from Georgia after
several interviews conducted by Commissioner Rick Thompson, who seems to
have a personal agenda publicly misrepresenting the facts and undermining
what was set to be a massive event for Atlanta,
(36:57):
featuring multiple world championship outs and the launch of efforts
to revitalize world class boxing in Georgia. End quote early.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
World class boxing. I mean I grant BC. I grant
it would have been an economic boom for the city.
I don't deny that. I don't deny that. But World
Class Boxing the keys, So what in the fuck are
you talking about?
Speaker 2 (37:21):
Well, brunch Boxing has reported that the undercard will be
largely filled with PBC fighters, so we know that a
lot of PBC fighters could use dates, so maybe there's
some good that will come there. Early Offshore odds are
Jake Paul plus one ninety five, Tank Davis minus two
eighty bro Bro.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
The question about this fight is could Dravante really lose
this fight? And the answer is yes, yes he could
not because do you think.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
Do you think that if they make it a real
fight that will in a non exhibition that will actually
make them fight at one hundred percent?
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Well, here's the problem. I think Gravante's kind of checked out.
So what you have to ask yourself is does he
care about losing? If the check is massive? Right, let's
I'm gonna make something up. I don't know what it
is we see, but I'm gonna make up that he
gets fifty million from this. If he gets fifty million
from this, like, is he does he care? I don't know.
If he cares anymore.
Speaker 2 (38:18):
Gavonte gave his first statement this week related to this fight.
Uh here's the little call out here quote Jake Paul
has been cherry picking in the sport of boxing for
a while now, but he picked the wrong opponent this time.
He better start losing some weight, chasing some chickens and
pray that help that helps him some on fight night.
Thank you to Netflix for giving the opportunity to whoop
(38:39):
this clown end quote. I want to play a quick
clip from a guy who has been making the making
the rise lightly in the boxing talking headspace. They call
him two Tone the Superstar and Luke no I'm I'm
a big show biz fan, show busy adult, but I've
been I started. I started following two Tone because he's hilarious.
(39:00):
I gotta say I align with his take right here.
Speaker 5 (39:03):
After after we get a big fight like Terrence Bud
Crawford and sad Will Canelo Alvarez on the highest level
on Netflix, circus boxing just seems like ill, it seems
like nasty, it seems disgusting. It's not even something that
we want to go ahead and talk about, something that
(39:24):
we don't even want to go ahead and pay attention
to if you want to keep it real, you want
to keep it one hunting. I say that respectfully, Bud
closing in closing, this fight is musty at the highest level.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
Look, he would he would go on to say, it's
empty calories after that steak dinner we had there with
uh bro.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
But here's the problem. But here's the problem. It's like, yeah,
first of all, I agree, like you go from like
the genius of Bud Crawford to Jake Paul. You know,
it's like it's hard to think of a bigger downgrade.
But the the reality is that fight's not made for
two tone the superstar, you know what I mean. It's
(40:06):
not made for show busy the adult. It's not made
for Brian Campbell, and I'm sure as fuck isn't made
for me. It's made for donks. It's made for the
public at large. It's made for the people who don't
watch boxing. And we'll oh, all, Jake Paul's fighting this
other dude, and then may maybe they've heard of them,
maybe they haven't. But it's like that, that's that's the appeal,
Like it's not made for us. And so once you
understand that, like, yeah, they're making big fights in boxing,
(40:29):
and they're using a relevant figure in Jervante. This is
all for a completely different audience, and that's kind of
why it sucks for us.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
As two tones, famous sound Drop would say, my mama,
mama musty energy. Luke, I agree. Yeah, there we go.
Speaker 1 (40:42):
He always plays that ChIL drop too.
Speaker 2 (40:45):
Yeah yeah, guys, awesome. All right, let's go to topic number four,
the Road to UFC Vancouver on October eighteenth. Oh boy,
we got a flat tire there. We got to update
a new main event and oh, by the way, this
UFC Vancouver Road to breakdown brought to you by Total Wireless,
the official wireless provider of UFC. Get unlimited data that
(41:06):
won't slow you down. Shout out to our friends at
Total Wireless. Luke. The main event of what is a
loaded UFC Fight Night Vancouver card on October eighteenth. It
took a disappointing hit when Anthony Fluffy Hernandez pulled out
of the main event against Rhinier de Ritter with an injury.
Rival at least arrival to Fluffy, Brendan Allen will replace
him against Urdr in the main event. Remember this was
(41:29):
an unofficial semi final that Dana set up after Nasardine
or before Nasardine im Avov defeated Kyo Bohalio, the best
performance of the two fights would get the first shot
at hamzat Chimayav. So Luke, does this opponent downgrade in
your eyes actually remove the opportunity for our dr to
secure that first shot at Chamayev, thus kind of automatically
(41:53):
elevating Imavov to the top spot.
Speaker 1 (41:56):
If your Nasardinimvov, you have to like this development because
a you already won convincingly, not like spectacularly, but definitely convincingly.
And the biggest threat to that being upset was probably
we think Fluffy Hernandez, just based on the style in
which he fights and the things he can do. Now
we didn't know that, but that was a guess. And
(42:17):
that fight now being essentially off, I mean, I know
there's a replacement in Brendan Allen, but that particular fight
being off, it can only boost his chances. However, what
I would say is one of the things that's made
already are special, particularly on the come up, and I
mean to an extent you've seen in UFC two, is
his capacity for surprise and for his own kind of
spectacular ways to advance a fight or finish a fight.
(42:41):
He's very very good about doing that. And so, for example,
b seen, let me make up something. If he were
to finish Brendan Allen, you know, not super quickly, but
you know, within the first two rounds or something three
rounds at most, and do it in the same way
he beat vitally big Dash, which is like this inverted
triangle that he got kind of out of nowhere. I think,
from like side control, I forget, I have to go
(43:03):
back and look at exactly how he got it. But
like an inverted triangle which was like this completely out
of nowhere, you know, snatching something up like that, I
think he could advance his interests. He's on a hot streak.
He says, yes, he's he didn't finish Robert Whitaker, but
he's finishing a bunch of guys blah blah blah. The
problem that he runs into is, even if he does that,
(43:25):
you still might be able to argue, Okay, fine, Rdr's
win was spectacular, and I would rather see him fight Homzat.
But then Imovov could even just respond okay, but who
has a better resume? For this who has a better
contendership resume to merit the title shot, and he's got
a very very good one, So I think the chance
is that it's going to be Imovov to get the
(43:45):
title shot. Have gone up exponentially, in no small part
because even with a win, RDR is still kind of
up against it. However, However, I still do believe that
if RDR does RDR things, he's got a real shot
at it. I firmly, firmly believe that it really just
depends on what you're gonna get. But BC Brendan Allen
(44:05):
likes to take it to the ground and fades over
the course of time. It's a five round main event,
there's a Rdr's got a shot here. He really still does.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
I mean, I think the thing that would help RDR
the most, there's two things. One, he's kind of fell
into being a company man this year because he just
keeps fighting every two months, it seems like two. If
he gets a spectacular submission, when I think people believe
and maybe the UFC matchmakers do, that he would have
a better chance to beating Shremaiav than Imovov did. Imovov
(44:34):
previously wasn't looked at as a marketable guy. I'm not
saying now suddenly he is. I think seeing him in
Paris with the crowd going nuts certainly helped, but who
knows if they would put that fight in Paris. I
just it just feels disappointing based upon I liked the
unique nature of this sort of unofficial semi finals that
they created, so it's just it had a playoff feel.
(44:55):
This loses that playoff feel now. The twenty nine year
old Brendan Allen had that seven fight win streak a
year ago, but that snapped in September of last year
when he lost the first of back to back decisions,
the first against him Avov, the second against Anthony Fluffy
Hernandez in their rematch. He did bounce back in July
of this year to take a three round decision from
Marvin Vittori. So that's where we're at with that they
(45:19):
early to us.
Speaker 1 (45:20):
Let me say this real quickly, if I can be
s Here's what I would argue for fans. Is this
a downgrade in both stakes and frankly as a fight. Yes,
there's just no argument it's a downgrade if for no
other reason, even if you're a big fan of Brendan Allen.
He's coming in on short notice, you know what I mean.
It's not even necessarily about it the role. We're just
trying to we're trying to shit on Brendon Allen, like
(45:41):
he also is coming in in less than idle circumstances
for his own case. But I'm how is this going
to be a bad fight? Like Brendan Allen brings the fight.
Sometimes he makes mistakes, but he likes to advance the attack,
and RDR loves to fight guys like that. I have
a very hard time seeing how this fight sucks. A
(46:03):
very hard time.
Speaker 2 (46:04):
Yeah, I'm not saying I'm going that far by any means.
I'm just saying that this card in Vancouver, which is
still strong, that was a nice, you know, sort of
crown on top of it. You're still gonna get Kevin
holland Mike Malatt. You're still gonna get Cheeto verre Versus
Amen's a hobby Manol Paau against Jasmine Jazz Diavicius. There's
a couple other matchups and names on that undercard worth
(46:25):
caring about. I like when they load up fight nights,
I really do. It's sort of that old school quarterly
UFC on Fox feel early odds for this new main
event not Jermaine Derrittter, that'd be Jermaine Durandomy. How about
RDR minus one seventy five Brendan Allen plus one forty Look,
that's a little surprising considering the run RDRs on right.
Speaker 1 (46:47):
Yeah, that is a little surprising. I'm a little surprised
by that. At the same time, dude, you know, listen,
Brendan Allen has some limits, some known limits, but he's
got some abilities too, you know, And he pursues the
fight and I respect that kind of a fighting style.
He's got very good grappling. So the thing that makes
(47:08):
me like, I think that these odds are a little
off is because it's five rounds and he's coming in
on short notice. What happens if the fight goes long.
But for as long as he's got energy, that's a
competitive fight. I do believe that RDR.
Speaker 2 (47:20):
Four and oh in the ten months since he joined
the UFC with stoppage wins over GM three, Kevin Holland,
and Bo Nickel. Before that breakthrough split decision went over
former champion Robert Whitaker in July. One more thing I
wanted to bring up here. We got a statement from
Fluffy Hernandez regarding the pullout on Instagram. As you've all
probably seen, Unfortunately, I had to pull out of my
(47:41):
upcoming fight due to injury. I want to sincerely apologize
to the UFC, to my opponent, and to everyone who's
looking forward to He thanks Brendan Allen for stepping in.
He says, Right now, my focus is I'm getting healthy
so I can come back stronger. Luke, I couldn't confirm this,
but a lot of critical people on Twitter are saying
this is Fluffy's sixth pull out in the last four years.
(48:02):
That almost sounds like you in college after you finally
joined that frad and girls would talk to you. Is
that bad luck or just completely unacceptable.
Speaker 1 (48:10):
Behavior Without knowing the circumstances, It's hard to say. I
think that many pullouts might ask some questions about how
you're maintaining your body. At the same time, it might
ask some questions about how you train. At the same time,
it might ask some questions about not everyone has the
same level of durability, and you know, there might be
(48:33):
some questions about long term potential to even do this.
If that is true anybody, But I would need to
verify the circumstances of this. People say shit on the
internet like all he's pulled out blah blah blah, and
then you look at it it's like, well, you know,
sort of yes, no, I mean not great, certainly, but
but not fatal yet, you know, all right, I'll say
this real quick.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
It is on his typology he has pulled out a
six in the last two years, but two.
Speaker 2 (48:57):
Years good ward, all right, Well, Chris hurt.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
Chris Curtis pulled out of their fight, so we're not
going to fault him for that. He did pull out
of his Roman Copy Love fight. Ikram Eliskarev pulled out
against him, so that also wasn't his fault. Roman Delidze
Hernandez got injured, Michelle Paeda just as bout rescheduled, and
RDR he got injured, So like most of them, weren't
(49:20):
even his fault.
Speaker 1 (49:21):
I don't blame so much, That's what I mean. Like, dude,
there's probably some questions to be asked about how he's
doing his stuff, but I'm not ready to sound the
alarm just yet, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (49:31):
Also, to note the September twenty eighth UFC Perth Fight
Night card, which has of course a main event of
Carlos Olberg and Dominic Reyis, lost its co main event
when the Junior tafa Ebol Aslan light heavyweight bout was
pulled due to injury. Jimmy Crewe versus versus Ivan Ersland
is now your co feature, Luke. This card kind of
(49:52):
sucks the horn, right.
Speaker 1 (49:53):
Kind of main event has a little bit of value.
I'll tell you what, bro. If Reyes comes back and
beats Olberg, that's one of the more miraculous career turnarounds
I've ever seen. So you've got to do it first,
but that would I'll tell you what. On that level alone,
I am keenly interested in how that fight goes.
Speaker 2 (50:09):
Win or lose. Blackjag is going to bang after. I'll
tell you that much. Shout out to all of Long Island,
Luke's relatives there on that massive island of Australia. Thank
you very much. A reminder to all you that this
podcast is sponsored by Total Wireless, the official wireless partner
of the UFC. And you already know when you're streaming
that fight or sharing those takedown highlights with your boys,
(50:29):
you need someone that keeps you close to the action.
You need a wireless provider that you can depend on. Well,
how about Total Wireless. They're covered by the Verizon five
G network. You have to worry about your connection being
KOT and the biggest moments. And while it's normally not
something you can talk about your wireless provider being in
your corner having your back, let me tell you a
little bit about Total Wireless. They keep you covered for
(50:49):
just twenty five dollars a month with four lines, folks, okay,
without sacrificing essentials like speed, and with Total you get
unlimited five G data so you can stay ahead of
the action and keep up with every KO You better believe.
Total also understands you can't afford any surprise blows that
you don't see coming, so they guarantee that price for
five years, taxes and fees included. The best fighters don't

Please see website for more details. All right, let's go
to topic number five. We're still nine months out from
this what seems to be a monumental late June UFC
White House card on the South Lawn, and the details
continue to come out about that. According to Dana White,
(51:54):
this will air live and free on CBS, and as
we stand right now, I'm starting to get the feeling
like maybe this could be more than just a novelty event,
maybe similar to the Sphere, this could be a chance
to be seriously one of the most unique and potentially
memorable cards in UFC's history if they do it right. First,
(52:15):
let's hear Dana White, who is on the the Logan
Paul Impulsive podcast, giving us some of the new details
about what this card can look like.
Speaker 4 (52:24):
I mean, even people in other countries that want to
say and the way that we're we're doing this thing,
like let's say this is this this is goody, but
this is the OPA, right we're building this arch almost
like the Saint Louis Arch like this, and the lighting
grid will go above the octagon. So when we shoot
this fight right, this whole backdrop will be the White House.
(52:48):
And then when the cameras move over and fight this way,
it's all the Washington Monument. The monument on this side.
Then there's a park that's sort of connected to the
White House, and we'll have eight thousand people there with
big screens. We're gonna do concerts. We're gonna do UFC
X there. We're gonna take over DC the whole week.
Speaker 2 (53:09):
Wow, we're buying an island. Look, they're gonna take over
your city. Eighty five thousand people. I gotta believe that's
the Ellipses Park. But let me just ask you the
straight up what I touched on earlier. We look back
at the Sphere card. While it did have title fights,
I could think we look at it more as a
one time only, unique gimmick. Do you think considering this
will be live and free on CBS and considering the
(53:31):
political sort of you know, USA pride attached to it.
Politics aside, I'm not here to talk about Jimmy Kimmel,
do you think this could end up being one of
the most unique and memorable cards in the company's history.
Speaker 1 (53:45):
I mean, again, we don't have to have it now,
and I'm not gonna have it now. There is an
angle of politics here that does have to be interrogated
and explored. I'll put it aside, but I just want
to say, for a further conversation, we're gonna have to
have one. In terms of the show itself, could this
be one of the most unique ones. I mean, there's
a couple of things here right. First of all, like
(54:05):
they've already changed some of what they've said. They said
they're gonna have twenty two thousand people in the White
House lawn, and we were all and you and I
are on the show, where I was like, there's just
not like again, if you go to the if you
go down to the Capitol One arena, there's multiple points
of entry and multiple points of exit, Like that doesn't work.
So of course they've now brought that number down to
I think they said five thousand. I suspect it to
be a little bit lower than that by the time
the fights themselves happen. But that's an interesting idea that
(54:27):
they have about the White House on one side, and
then the Washington money on the other. But the part
that he's talking about is the ellipses, which figures prominently
into January sixth by the way of BC. But putting
that aside for just a second, you do have the
space to put many much more than eighty five thousand.
I'm not sure where that number comes from. But could
you do it? Yes, you very It's the entire National
Mall is essentially right over there. You could easily easily
(54:48):
do it. Again, it depends how they set it up
and whatnot. So to answer the question, you know, if
they hold it, if that vision that he just laid
out actually ends up, you know, more or less being true,
does this stand to be a historically you know, different
and relevant card Partly and also depends on who's gonna
be in that card be see, but I'm guessing that
(55:08):
they're going to do their best to stack it or
you know whatever. But like to answer the question, does
it have that capacity again, there's a political angle that
we won't explore today. But to answer that part of
the question, yes, yes, it absolutely does. It's just you know,
between now and June, a lot of factors could end
up changing what we actually get in the end. And
I will say, also, it's like how I'm buying an island,
(55:29):
and it's like they did have a place to put shows,
but it wasn't as cool as like they made it sound,
you know what I mean. And I liked the Sphere Show,
but a lot of people were not exactly sold on it,
you know, So I I you know, I mean, I
appreciate when they do things differently, and I appreciate when
they go and they try and they like, they like
they they think about how can we make this bigger?
(55:50):
And that clearly seems to a being applying here. I
guess I'm just gonna say, let's just see what the
final product looks like. Yeah, but it definitely sounds to
me ambitious in a historically relevant way.
Speaker 2 (56:01):
Yeah. I mean, look, even though it won't be on
July fourth, because there's so many other things going on
that day in terms of celebration, it's for the two
hundred and fiftieth anniversary of this country. So to some
degree that does cut through the political divide that does
linger over this. But another discussion for another day. But
back to the point you said about who will they
put on this fight card. How much will they load
(56:22):
it up. Here's Dana on the same podcast talking about
the two names we keep hearing John Jones and Connor McGregor. Dude,
what's going on with that fight?
Speaker 1 (56:30):
We saw?
Speaker 4 (56:30):
Asking all on John Jones, since you know, retiring and
then coming back has made it clear I want to
do this and and you know he sent me a
text apologize and all that stuff. But I need I
need people that I can seriously rely on for this one.
(56:52):
You know, people talk shit about Connor. I'm telling you,
I've been in the fucking trenches with Connor. Connor is
a guy that has fun injured. Connor is a guy
that a fighter has fallen out and we slid in
a stylistically bad matchup for him. He doesn't care. He
literally will fight anybody.
Speaker 2 (57:11):
But does he care enough to actually make a fighter
right now?
Speaker 1 (57:15):
Like? Does he is?
Speaker 3 (57:16):
He?
Speaker 2 (57:16):
Actually? When's last time?
Speaker 4 (57:17):
When I have been talking NonStop and He's like, I'm
dead serious. I want this. You know, I'm training, I'm
back in the pool, and I'm doing all the shit.
So we'll see you, Luke.
Speaker 2 (57:28):
He was largely talking about twenty fifteen Connor right there.
Speaker 1 (57:32):
Twenty yeah, look twenty bit a while.
Speaker 2 (57:36):
I know the most recent Connor did pull out of
a International Fight Week main event with a broken toe,
and is I think close to passing both lugare again
cal Ripkin for consecutive days deep in the bag. But
with all that said, and you heard what he said
about John Jones right there, I want to ask you,
because it is the nation's two hundred and fiftieth birthday,
(57:57):
we want big fights, but don't we want American in
big fights? I mean, does this kind of almost lean
into John Jones's favor that like Kayla Harrison's the only
American champion. I suspect her and Amanda could be on
this card and would deserve to be, but not in
the main event. And even though we kind of are
talking to you know, Coner Versus Night three would kind
(58:17):
of be the perfect crossover, casual, nostalgic fight to maybe
put as the Cole main event. But don't you kind
of need an American fighter fighting for a championship in
the main event. And if that's the case, like, isn't
Jones aspinall maybe your only choice?
Speaker 1 (58:32):
I would say the most important consideration is not having
fighters in the White House who have been held liable
for sexual assault. That's probably a bigger issue to me.
But if we're going to talk about what the move
off of July fourth does, in my opinion, it frees
you up to not necessarily. I mean, yes, you might
want to have more Americans than not, or some prominently
featured Americans than not, but it doesn't require it. At
(58:54):
the end of the day, if you're not on July fourth,
you have a little bit of latitude to move this
stuff around in ways that are interesting to you. And
more to the point that Dana White makes, if you're
going to do something this ambitious, dude, how how the
hell can anybody rely on John Jones to do anything ever?
You know what I mean, It just seems absurd to
think that you can rely on a person like this.
(59:15):
He just can he cannot. I mean, sometimes he can
get out of his own way, but he cannot reliably
get out of his own way. So in this particular case,
in terms of what Dana's priorities are for the kinds
of the profile of a fighter, in terms of the reliability,
I completely understand his position. Dude. They went through the
ringer with John and he left them dry more than
a few times, like, why would you ever count on
(59:37):
a person like that?
Speaker 2 (59:38):
I got it, But I almost feel like they can
reverse psychology use him, you know, to be the guy
they actually need for this main event. If they want
an American in one of the biggest tie of fights
you can.
Speaker 1 (59:48):
Make, dude, John Jones in the main event of this
card seems like a horrifically bad idea.
Speaker 2 (59:54):
I got you. I'd almost like I said, make him
earn it first, make him headline the first paramount card.
But we can argue that another day if it ends
up being Ilia versus Islam, because that's the best fight
you can make.
Speaker 1 (01:00:04):
I'm not making it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
Yeah, we need an American, But here quickly is John
Jones at the MTV v a may Red carpet.
Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
Hold on, hold on, okay, you know what, play this clip?
I have something for it.
Speaker 9 (01:00:15):
First and foremost, are you retired?
Speaker 1 (01:00:17):
I'm not retired.
Speaker 5 (01:00:18):
I'm absolutely training five days a league and I'm in
the UFC's druistic cooling.
Speaker 2 (01:00:24):
Great.
Speaker 8 (01:00:25):
And what's the status of the fight at the White House.
Speaker 1 (01:00:28):
I don't really know. It's kind of out of my control.
Right now. I'm training for the event. I'll be ready
for the event, and that's.
Speaker 5 (01:00:33):
My global, that's my attention, but ultimately it's up to
the boss.
Speaker 1 (01:00:39):
So I don't know if it's this one. I don't
think it's this one. I think it's a different one
from the same event, although it might be this one.
But he did an interview with his own publicist and
they put it out like it was a real interview
because he you know, he's trying to asktro Turf the
question so you can get the answers that he wants
out there.
Speaker 2 (01:00:55):
It kind of I heard people say that, like he
wasn't mobbed as a celebrity there, and it kind of
why would he be. Yeah, I mean, damn he he
was pretty high in terms of when he had the
comeback fight, beating Gone and even beating Stepe, even though
it was lame the way it played out, him doing
the dance in front of Trump. I'm not saying that
was my favorite moment that moment ever, but like people
(01:01:16):
were giving him his flowers, but boy did he soil
himself and how he behaves since then. I don't know
what they're gonna do, But there is one man who
still believes Luke that not only he could be in
a major fight at the White House that it might
come against Connor McGregor. Here's the face of UFC's Black
History Month tribute. Michael Chandler.
Speaker 4 (01:01:36):
Bana said, they're not gonna start matchmaking until next year,
but like, where's your head at in terms of your
return to action?
Speaker 11 (01:01:42):
You know, I think, you know, obviously that's that's a
fight that I want. I want. I want the White House,
you know, first and foremost. I want the White House. Ideally,
if I if it becomes Connor, that would be awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:01:53):
You know.
Speaker 11 (01:01:53):
Obviously we have some animosity or some unfinished business. Once again,
I just said, there's not really animosity. I got respect
for him, he's got respect for me, but we do
have an unfinished business and he has, you know, expressed interest.
You know, when he put out that meme of me
and him, I guess you could call it a meme.
Speaker 2 (01:02:11):
It was ai, you know, it was me and him.
Speaker 11 (01:02:13):
You know, he's called me out on Twitter and said
we have unfinished business, and we do. We have unfinished
business where the we would be the only fighters not
to fight after the Ultimate Fighter who were in the
same weight class and Connor and I. It makes sense.
I did my job. I signed on the dotted line.
I've still never pulled out of a fight, never missed weight.
The most important thing about this White House card and
(01:02:33):
whether I am a shoe in for it or not.
When you're building a card of this magnitude, it's not
necessarily even about putting on the best fight. It's about
putting on the best fights that are the most reliable,
Which fighters and which matchups, which marquee contests are gonna
happen on the White House lawn, that have an almost
(01:02:54):
virtual certainty of actually happening. In this crazy sport, there
are no guarantees, but I'm about a sure as a
guarantee as you possibly could be. Like I said, never
missed weight, never pull out of a fight, And if
I can walk to the octagon, if I can physically
make it to the octagon, I'm showing up that cage
that Octagondor is closing, and I'm putting on a show
for the fans. I think we're closer now than we
(01:03:14):
ever have been. I've always said, if you're a betting man,
don't put money on him necessarily coming back, But now
this changes things a lot. In my heart of hearts,
I think I'm fighting Conor McGregor at the White House,
and that sure does make.
Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
A ton of sense for a multitude of reasons.
Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
God, why are we acting like Connor's a sure think
these days?
Speaker 1 (01:03:30):
Good lord, It's like, do we not remember he pulled
out with a toe injury that, Like, I mean, what
Dana to your point, b see what Dana White said, Like, oh,
you know, Connor's fought injured and all stuff. That's true,
Like he's taken on fights and there were unenviable short notice,
he's messed up, blah blah blah. He definitely did those
things ten years ago, Like he pulled out from a
(01:03:52):
tow injury that I'm not saying I would have fought
or something like that. No, I'm not that kind of
a person. But I've definitely seen other fighters fight with
injuries that. I don't know why we're saying he's so
reliable either, But like the other problem is he's got
nothing else going on, so maybe he would do it,
you know.
Speaker 2 (01:04:07):
Yeah, wonderful'll see Chandler at the top. I don't think
he'll be at the top of that card, but I
think we'll see him on that card. I think he
deserves that even with the losses that he's piled up
of late. Hey, we'll see what happens nine months to go.
Right there, those are your five topics for this Friday.
We transition now to the fan segments to close here,
and of course you already know you can reach out
to the show using our email address Morning Combat at
(01:04:28):
gmail dot com. Tell Mikey that you said hi, and
please please don't show him pictures of your package. We're
gonna start off with a segment where, wow, that's gross,
where we give you the opportunity to call us out
and put us on the stand and subpoena our pennoise.
This one's called dead wrong then wrong, all right. This
(01:04:54):
one comes to you from comes to us from a
few different people, Henry Brandon and Andrew Sure which one
actually wrote this? Is it Henry? Anyway, he says Knezchiwa bitches.
Luke is not only dead wrong, but he flat out
lied during Monday's MK at one hour and thirty three
minutes when he claimed to not know anything about Japanese
(01:05:14):
anime and said he never even saw a movie before
the truth is just last year he was hyped up
about Hi Hyo Mizaki films and multiple times talked about
them in his tweets and lost hit where he declared
his love for them. I attached a couple of Luke's
tweets here as proof that in reality, he is a
(01:05:35):
real anime anime loving otaku, sayonara and stay honest. This
is the Samurai way.
Speaker 1 (01:05:43):
It is true that there is one creator whose movies
I've seen that are incredible. That's true. I discovered what discovered.
I stumbled upon them in my own way last year
and they were amazing. That is true, But like I
don't know them.
Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
On air, you lied there, you were like, I.
Speaker 1 (01:06:01):
Don't know, I don't Yes, I mean I guess I did,
But I mean lying means like you knowingly told something
you didn't think was true. Yeah, I just it is anime,
but in my mind I don't consider it that way.
I mean I know that it is, but like it's
to give you It's like, do you like heavy metal?
If you only like one heavy metal band, I don't know.
I don't know how that works. If you only like
(01:06:23):
Metallica and you don't like any other band, nothing, nothing
even close. Are you a heavy metal fan or are
you a Metallica.
Speaker 2 (01:06:30):
Fan, Oh we got qualifiers, Hair, Luke.
Speaker 1 (01:06:32):
I'll say that listen, that kind of style of animation
is considered anime, and so for that reason, I will
take the l But there's literally nothing else in the
anime universe that interests me. Nothing zero. Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
You can't say that you like Cannibal Corpse and then
be like, I don't like Abortion Rock.
Speaker 1 (01:06:48):
It's not my thing. Yeah, it's like, how can you
say you like Metallica but you don't like Mega Death. Yeah,
it's like how can I.
Speaker 2 (01:06:56):
How can I drive a SUPERU and claim I'm straight Luke?
But it's true fat right, It definitely is all right.
I only say that because Luke peppers me with Instagram
DMS dunking on my.
Speaker 1 (01:07:06):
Super ownership every day.
Speaker 2 (01:07:08):
Fine car, Yeah, fine car? All right. Our second and
final dead wrong comes from somebody named E, who says
at forty three minutes and twelve seconds of the UFC
Paris Recap episode, BC is talking about how Ben wall
st DENI can build from his win against Hoofy. He
mentions that, at thirty two years old, he's in the
(01:07:28):
middle of his prime. That's dead wrong, BC. Although BSD
has looked thirty five. Since he debuted in the UFC
in his early twenties, he is only twenty nine years
old as of Wow, I take that he does look
older though he does.
Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
He definitely, he definitely does. But that's an l for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
All Right, I'm not gonna get my bvds in a
bunch over BSD. He's twenty nine, and that's the way
it is. That's your dead wrong for the week, our
final segment allows you the opportunity to send in your artwork,
pictures of Saoul's wife wearing our new clothes, or any
anything else you got. We call this one fan subs.
Speaker 1 (01:08:04):
You've got mayl fures.
Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
Indeed, Hey, the aforementioned Louisville Starr himself, the gutter champion
saouol A, is here and he says, I've been living brother.
It was Waterfront Wednesday a couple of weeks ago, and
the city of Louisville hosts multiple free concerts by the
river in the summertime. The wife cousin, Jessica, and I
went to see sixpence none the Richer. Yes, kiss Me.
(01:08:29):
They had a hit song in ninety seven called kiss Me,
but I Love A reason to suck on a chili
dog mcm coozy in my hand too, main card minute Baby.
Speaker 1 (01:08:38):
Then the City he's got a labooboo on his man bag.
You see that?
Speaker 2 (01:08:43):
Yeah, I do, I do. That's very European like you, Luke.
The City had a huge thrift event, found a couple
of records and decided to frame my MK poster. Finally MK.
All day, Luke, I love this man so much.
Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
Really extremely supportive. We are big fans of him.
Speaker 2 (01:08:59):
Wow, he lives a fun life. It looks like they're
in Louisville, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:09:03):
Yeah, he's out there like he gets outside. You know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
Look at it with that George Thod record. He's got
the MK head on. That's all I'm talking about right there.
Well done, swell. Shout out to cousin Jessica. She's single.
Just you know the viewers wanted to know.
Speaker 1 (01:09:16):
All right, listen, if I can't bang your wife, relatives
are more than suitable.
Speaker 2 (01:09:22):
Shout out to cousin jess There, and let's go over
to Ryan. He says, served in the Lucky Anchor se A, London.
This beer called two flints. Donk, Luke, your thoughts.
Speaker 1 (01:09:34):
It probably I mean hazy pale ale. This thing tastes
like my urine.
Speaker 2 (01:09:38):
I I would drink the crap out of this. This
is great.
Speaker 1 (01:09:42):
Al right, I think next episode I should just pee
in your mouth.
Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
Oh my god, wow, wow do you believe you can fly?
It's now where this is going? This is ridiculous, this
is great. Oh wow, Okay, let's go over to Wes.
Wes says, wow, all us old farts pine for the
UFC boom period? Do we long for the ultimate Fighter
era fashion? Let's take a look here. I've got an
(01:10:05):
ed Hardy inspired front yard gym design as well as
the Affliction inspired Factory Town MMA design.
Speaker 1 (01:10:13):
Next as uploadh gym one is amazing.
Speaker 2 (01:10:17):
That is really good. Guns and roses. There you'll see
the bedazzled blue jean dead two thousands d bags sporting
the shirt.
Speaker 1 (01:10:25):
Oh my.
Speaker 2 (01:10:28):
God, blowouts and man buns. Watch out, ladies, no serious ladies.
