S1 (00:03):
You're listening to mornings with Eric and Bridget right here
on Moody Radio South Florida, 89.3.

S2 (00:08):
Well, as we read the stories in Scripture and we
think about Jesus in his life on this earth and
the times when he heals people and or the miraculous
happened around him, there are times to say, boy, what
would that be like to be part of the feeding
of the 5000, let's say, or or be around when
Lazarus walked out of that tomb. And does God still

(00:28):
perform miracles today?

S1 (00:30):
Yeah, that is the question that we're going to be
dealing with here. It's interesting that as we drive through
the Bible, this book from Colin Smith that we've been
reading in our book club, we're in the part of weakness.
And many times in that desperate area is where we're
asking the Lord to intervene and to show himself to
to be that miracle worker in our life. And one
of the things he says here is Paul spoke candidly

(00:52):
about his experience of weakness in Second Corinthians 12 nine.
He says, my grace is sufficient for you, for my
power is made perfect in weakness. And he shows us
that power as we allow him to do these things
in our life to to change us many times from
the inside out. But then there are these seasons, these
times where you might see something that is a little

(01:14):
outside of what is ordinary. We would call ordinary Bridget.

S2 (01:17):
Absolutely. And there's a new film out today called Show
Me Your Glory that documents eight stories just like that, verified,
of things that can't be explained in just human terms.
And Eric is with us. Who is the director and
producer of this film? Show me your glory. Eric, thank
you so much for being here. And tell us about

(01:39):
these stories that you have documented and how each one
came to you.

S3 (01:46):
Well, first of all, thank you so much for having me.
And the stories came to us. Uh, some of them,
even themselves, came in a miraculous way. But when we
felt the call, we knew we were supposed to make
this film. We scoured the Earth for the best stories
we could find. Now there are hundreds of millions of
testimonies of miracles taking place right now throughout the globe.

(02:10):
We have surveys of this. We have data to confirm this,
so we had a lot to choose from. In fact,
eight of the stories overflowed into our book that's released
today with the same title, Show Me Your Glory, that
has 16 stories. But the eight stories in our film
are fitting within three categories of the miraculous. The first
are miraculous healings, the second are miraculous encounters with the

(02:33):
divine that led to lifelong change. And then the third category,
especially important is those who responded supernaturally, even though they
didn't get the miracle they prayed for.

S1 (02:46):
And that's interesting. Even though they didn't get the miracle
they prayed for. Why does God not answer every prayer
if he is? If he's got he could. Why doesn't he?
That must be a real hard question to be tackled,
isn't it?

S3 (03:03):
Yeah. And he's not afraid of us asking these difficult questions.
I've been asking these questions for almost 20 years, serving
in the United States Marine Corps on the battlefield of Iraq.
I had a crisis of faith, you know, seeing what
I saw, experiencing what I experienced. And I look around
the world and I see so much suffering and pain
and evil. In fact, it's the leading cause of atheism.

(03:24):
This idea that if God truly is loving and he's
perfect and he's sovereign, you know, why does he allow
so much suffering to take place? How could he still
be a good God if he actually does exist and
he's not afraid of us asking that question and seeking
answers to that question? And I've been doing that for
about 20 years, and I can say unequivocally, without any hesitation,

(03:45):
that I fully trust the goodness of God. I trust him,
he's trustworthy. So for some reason, he sees fit to
allow us to go through tough stuff in this life,
and it is for our eternal benefit. It is for
his glory. He's doing something amazing that we're going to
reap forever and ever, as we rest in his presence,

(04:05):
where there is no more suffering. Eventually.

S2 (04:08):
All right, Eric, we've got to hear one of these
stories that's highlighted in your film out today, but only
for the next three days, a fathom event called Show
Me Your Glory. So what's one of those stories that
you feature?

S3 (04:21):
Oh, man. Well, the first category, I'll give you three
quick ones. The first category, a kid is miraculously healed
of broken bones and injury without any medical intervention. And there's, uh,
scans before and after to prove this claim. So there's
medical documentation. You know, my wife's a recovering lawyer, so

(04:42):
everything that we filmed would stand up in a court
of law. But one of the favorite stories. And everybody
that goes to the theater and sees this, we had
a red carpet event. It was interesting. Like everybody had
their own favorite character, but one that stood out quite
a bit to so many people was a former Hezbollah terrorist.
This guy had murdered people for the sake of Allah.

(05:04):
He was trying to impress his God as a muslim.
And at one point, he's in a Malaysian jail cell
and he has an encounter with Jesus Christ. And it
is so real that he recants his faith and he converts.
And he has been winning people for Christ for over
30 years now. Um, so that's just a small taste.

(05:24):
The third story is actually a local story where we're
at here in the Shoals in Alabama. And it is
a story where they did not get the miracle they
prayed for. But if you could see the impact that
they had even in the midst of their darkest hour,
it would blow your mind.

S2 (05:40):
Okay. But for the person going back to that story,
especially with the Hezbollah fighter, uh, encounters Jesus, I know
there's someone who's saying I don't. I just don't believe
that maybe he was. Maybe he was just a dream.
Maybe he was hallucinating. Speak to the skeptic who's listening.
Because I know there are many. It's hard for us

(06:01):
to wrap our minds around this.

S3 (06:04):
Yeah, absolutely. People are skeptical about the resurrection of Jesus,
even though the consensus, even among atheist historians, is that
there was a Jesus of Nazareth, and he did indeed
get crucified under the hand of Pontius Pilate. Nobody disagrees
with that. And even atheist historians will admit, yeah, those

(06:25):
initial apostles certainly did believe that they saw something. It
must have been a hallucination. But you can't have 12
different people or 11 different people, or hundreds of different
people having the same hallucination, sometimes simultaneously and individually, and
then willing to die for that hallucination. But what we
see with these individual encounters, and what we measured upon was,

(06:48):
was their sustained moral long term change. And for a
person to convert from Islam to Christianity oftentimes is a
death sentence. Most of the time, they're shunned by their family.
I mean, it is the worst kind of conversion this
planet offers. You are going to be persecuted. Your life
is going to be harder. And so this individual for

(07:09):
30 years has not one time recanted his story. And
there are tons of witnesses of who he was before
and who he is now. And so in those accounts,
we have to, uh, yes, take their word on it.
But we can look at the circumstantial evidence, just like
we would a court case, and we can say, accumulatively,
that evidence is substantial.

S2 (07:30):
Wow.

S1 (07:31):
It's almost like the story of Paul, isn't it? Well,
he was Saul at that point, but it's very similar,
isn't it?

S3 (07:37):
You know, we hear that a lot, but it is.
I mean, Paul was was killing Christians. He okayed the
first martyrdom, uh, or the first martyr Stephen, and ultimately
gave the okay on it the stamp of approval. He
was throwing Christians in jail. He was doing exactly the
type of stuff our character was doing. And then again,
he has this radical encounter with God while traveling on

(08:00):
the road to Damascus. And ultimately, he becomes the author
of two thirds of the New Testament of the Bible.
He was one of the most prolific and profound apostles,
and one of the greatest leaders in the Christian church.
And so we've seen these types of encounters, in fact,
right now, in the places that are hard to reach
in Islamic countries, we're seeing massive conversions most people don't know.

(08:24):
But the the greatest revival is taking place in Iran
and has been for many years now. Mosques are going
out of business. And it's not because missionaries are in Iran.
It's because these folks are having dreams and visions of Jesus.

S2 (08:38):
It's so powerful that that is happening, even in places
where they may not have a copy of the Scripture
or very little parts of it, and yet they're coming
to the knowledge of who Jesus is in miraculous ways.
And we see stories, miracles like that in Scripture. And
we're hearing about that today. And I think it just

(08:59):
reflects the verse that says that God is the same yesterday,
today and forever. So why do we struggle, I think,
in our modern day era, to believe that this is possible,
that he is able to seek and to save those
who are lost, or to heal broken bones, or to
change a persecutor of the church to actually a believer.

S3 (09:24):
That's exactly right. And I love this very simple quote
from Craig Keener. You know, more miracles happen in places
where people pray for miracles more. And I would beg
the church to consider, instead of our knee jerk reaction
every time we encounter suffering, to think about the hospital
or calling 911 or whatever the case may be, whatever

(09:45):
we're going through, our knee jerk reaction would become, let
me pray and let's just see what God would do.
And if he chooses to not give the miracle I'm
praying for, would I be willing to just trust him anyways?
That his plan is best for me, and that his
promise is that everything that happens is for the good
of those who love him and are called according to

(10:07):
his purposes. Would we be willing to trust our perfect
father no matter the outcome?

S1 (10:13):
One of the interesting things about the book and also
the movie, the movie again is out Show Me Your
Glory is out today and then it will be out tomorrow,
and then it will be out the next day. It
is a limited three day fathom type release, so if
you want more information, uh, it is at our website
and you can find out more about its release of

(10:34):
this documentary movie. Show me your glory. Again, it the
book and the movie. They both spend some time with
theologians and apologists, uh, Explaining what we're talking about, giving
more insight, right? It's not just stories, but then it's
how do we better understand what's happening? Is that correct?

S3 (10:54):
Yeah. Again, this is 20 years of me wrestling with God.
And it's it addresses the intellect and it also addresses
the heart. And I think it's going to be good
for people to read it that are already walking with
Christ but want to walk more closely. And it's also
really good for the seeker and the skeptic.

S2 (11:15):
Mhm. But will it be encouraging or do you feel
like for those who are contending for their own miracle
and haven't seen it yet, what's what's their response in
your experience with those who've seen it already?

S3 (11:30):
We have had quite a few people see the film
that are going through a trial right now. They've been
through a similar a similar trial as our character and
category three that didn't get the miracle they prayed for.
and they were deeply encouraged. They were emboldened in their
faith to trust God. And that this reminder that you

(11:52):
know what? This is the only opportunity we have ever
to live by faith when we're in his presence forever
and ever. There is no more faith. Uh, when we're
in his presence forever and ever, we no longer have
the ability to suffer and do it in such a
way that it would show his light and his glory
to those around us.

S1 (12:12):
You said it's taken you 20 years to get to
this point. Give someone who's on the first couple steps
of that 20 year journey some help, so that they
don't get discouraged or dissuaded down this this path. I mean,
it's you're 20 years into it, but there's still more
to learn. There's still more to understand. There's still more
encouragement the Lord wants to give you. But for that

(12:32):
person that's just starting down that that walkway. Encourage them.

S3 (12:39):
Do not repeat history and be like Adam and Eve
who ran and they hid and they covered their shame.
Run to your father who is in heaven. Run to
him and tell him how you feel. He already knows
how you feel. He knows what you're thinking. If you're angry,
be angry. If you're sad, be sad. He can handle it.

(13:02):
He can handle your honesty. What he can't handle is
you running and taking your ball and going home. All
we have to do is resolve and commit to seeking
him and not giving up. And I promise you, there's
zero doubt whatsoever. At the end of the day, after
you're done wrestling with him, you will find that he

(13:23):
is faithful.

S2 (13:25):
Eric's within is really the who's bringing together the producer
director of a new film in theaters today, tomorrow and
the following day, a short fathom run called Show Me
Your Glory. And you brought this to us also with
your wife. And this new book also contains even more
of these stories. But Eric, a final question here. Why?
Why bring this to the film? 20 years of wrestling

(13:47):
working through this? Why put this together in a film
for others to kind of walk that journey with you?

S3 (13:55):
You know, I didn't want to be honest with you.
I was exhausted at the genesis of this. And when
God told us to do this, it was very clear.
And we needed to obey him. And we've been blood,
sweat and tears for two years putting this together now,
there have been literal miracles that have taken place on

(14:16):
set while filming behind the scenes. All of this has
come together because we obeyed and God delivered. This is
his film, and as an artist, I'm very critical of
my own work, very critical. But I can tell you,
as I watch this thing, uh, God's hand is all
over it. This is not just a film that will

(14:37):
entertain you. This is a film that will definitely entertain you,
but it will transform you. You'll be talking about this
film for a long time after the credits roll. There's
zero doubt in my mind. This is a film that
people need to see. I think everybody needs to see
this film, and I don't take credit for it, to
be honest with you. I give all the credit to God.

(14:57):
I could see his fingerprint on the entire project, and
I think you'll get a sense as you see it. Oh,
this is this is too big for a person to create.
This is too profound for a person to create. And
I think that there is a perfect time for things
to take place. And I think God's timing on this
film in particular was was perfect.

S1 (15:18):
Well, you can find out more information at our website.
Eric and bridget.org. Again, show me your glory. It's in
theaters today, tomorrow and the next day. So it's a
fathom event. It's a short release here, but you can
be part of seeing this tonight when you go to
Show Me Your Glory, the website. And again that's at
our website, Eric and bridget.org.
