S1 (00:03):
Well, Susan Moss is the next Scenic City Women's Networks speaker.
She's going to be speaking on May 22nd at the
Walden Club. And just a little bit about her. She's
a Bible teacher, she's a conference organizer and speaker, and
she just finished up a women's conference at Sardine Ministries
and at her church, Silverdale Baptist. She is the captain

(00:25):
of the online prayer team for over 30 years. She's
discipled women and taught Bible studies in her home. Good
morning to you, Susan, and thanks for joining us here.

S2 (00:36):
Good morning Tommy. Wonderful to hear your voice this morning.

S3 (00:40):
Yeah. And I'm here too. Susan, just a little heads
up for you.

S2 (00:43):
And you.

S1 (00:44):
Too. Don't worry about that. Don't worry about that.

S3 (00:47):
Susan, we're so excited that you are going to be
the speaker at Scenic City Women's Network's marketplace luncheon here
for May. But, uh, let me just ask you just
briefly to just share your story. How did you come
to faith in Christ?

S2 (01:00):
Oh, wow. Um, as a child, I've always been blessed
to have a lot of godly influence. Uh, my grandfather,
Reverend Henry Sledge, was a giant in the faith for me.
A powerhouse of a man of God. My mom, my grandmother,
a lot of godly influence in church, all that good stuff.

(01:21):
But there was a Sunday morning. It was raining, storming badly.
And God made me realize, you know all the verses.
You've been in church, you've done this, that and the other,
but you don't really, really know me. You have not
surrendered to my lordship. And so that Sunday morning, I
just humbled myself by his power and his spirit and

(01:44):
asked him to please forgive me of my sins. Save me.
And at that moment, he blessed me. He saved me,
and he and I walked together ever since.

S3 (01:57):
Yeah, that is truly a beautiful legacy of faith. Thank
you so much for sharing that with us. Susan Moss
is our guest right now talking about her faith journey.
And so that's how it started. Susan, can I ask,
what is God doing in your life today?

S2 (02:12):
Well, right now, uh, Tom, I am retired after 35
plus years of public education and retired does not mean
sitting and knitting for me is like I wonder how
did I work eight ten hours a day? Uh, I
do a lot of mentoring. I teach, I share in

(02:34):
Bible studies and whatever, but I have adult children, I
have adult grandchildren, I have three, I'm sorry, two great grandchildren.
I have a husband. I mean, my life is pretty full.
Pretty full.

S1 (02:49):
Yeah, that sounds like it. And you just finished a
women's conference about how many women's conferences are you doing? Um,
around our region.

S2 (02:59):
Well, I just did one. You're right at Sardine in
Spring City, Tennessee. And really, uh, only now after Covid,
even though Covid has been a few years, are things
picking back up. So I am not speaking as often
as I used to at one time, but things are
beginning to pop back up.

S1 (03:19):
Well, we're looking forward to you speaking this month at
the Walden Club with the Scenic City Women's Network and I.
Before we even dive into a little bit about what
you might speak on, why is it so important that
women gather in groups such as Scenic City Women's Network?

S2 (03:36):
Wow. Good question. Um, you can't read too far in
the New Testament without seeing the words one another, one another. So, uh,
it's it's best to not try to walk this out
solo because you have no accountability. You're doing what you
think is right in your own mind. But when women

(03:58):
come together in the Spirit of God, in the different
women kind of just, uh, enjoy koinonia, build one another up,
you see somebody else going through some of the same
things that you are. I mean, it's just we need that.
We need that. You can't do it solo by yourself.
So Jesus God is three. So we we definitely just

(04:21):
need one another. We need to come together in that way.

S3 (04:24):
Susan, I love that Susan Moss is our guest right now.
Just talking a little bit about the fact that we
can't do any of the one another's in Scripture by ourselves.
And so we need one another. We need groups like
Scenic City Women's Network. And if you're looking for a place,
maybe you are feeling isolated. We invite you to be
a part of it. Scenic City Women's Network, they have
a marketplace luncheon. It's next Thursday, the 22nd. And so

(04:46):
if you wanted to be a part of that, you'll
get a chance to hear from Susan. Susan, as we're
wrapping up our time with you, I'm going to ask
you this. Can you give us a little sneak peek
of maybe what you might be sharing next Thursday?

S2 (04:58):
Yes, sir. Um. The Scenic City Women's Network has chosen
Living Courageously for Christ as their theme for next Thursday.
And as I've prayed and meditated on that, just those words.
Living courageously for Christ, thinking about life. Life is much

(05:18):
more than just a a biology marvel. I mean, it's
it's a marvel that we breathe, that our heart beats,
that we have brainwaves. But more so than biology, living,
truly living and not existing really is only possible in Christ.

(05:39):
If you think about the word courageous or being courageous, sure,
we all want to do that. We all want to
operate well in the face of fear and anxiety. And
the only way we can truly do that is to
be anchored in Christ. Second Timothy one seven God has
not given us a spirit of fear, and it's all

(06:01):
around us. There are so many things that make us
fearful and anxious, but we can know right away based
on the word that's not from God. He has not
given us a spirit of fear, but power and love
and a sound mind. So living courageously for Christ, I mean.
Acts 1728 in him we live, we move. We have

(06:21):
our being. The life, the courage, everything. It goes right
back to who is Jesus in your life? Are you
in him? Are you living for him?

S1 (06:33):
Thank you so much. Hey, if you want to come
out and hear Susan Moss speak and share more about
living courageously for Christ, text lunch to 423629 8900. We'll
see you next Thursday.
