Welcome to Golden Boy: An Academy Awards Podcast! Join Moronic Logic monthly as Kenny enlists a rotating co-host from an assemblage of interesting and unique voices to watch every movie nominated for Best Picture in a given year and decide who SHOULD have won the Golden Boy.
We do EVERYTHING in chronological order at Moronic Logic, so Episode 5 takes us to the Fifth Academy Awards, held in 1932, where Golden Boy host Kenny Cahoon and guest host Toni Fellela must decide which of 8 films is the actual Best Picture. This episode features a discussion on the first tie in Oscar's history, the end of the Jazz Age, and the second to last oscars before the Hays Code kicks in. Join us and join in on the discussion! By the end of the episode only one movie (or more depending on how the discussion goes) will prevail and take home the actual Golden Boy.
Toni Fellela has been teaching college writing for many years now. She has also taught African American literature, the Literature of Fantasy and Imagination and even Business and Technical writing during some rather desperate semesters. Her major academic interests include American-working class literature and the bildungsroman. Future goals include becoming a Scrabble hustler and seeing the Northern lights. She'd like to take this opportunity to promote her son's youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/SebastianNestor/videos.

Cardiac Cowboys
The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
