In Matthew 18:21-35, Jesus teaches that true forgiveness is unlimited—we must forgive not just seven times, but seventy-seven times (v. 22). He illustrates this with the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant, where a man forgiven of an unpayable debt refuses to forgive a small debt owed to him. Because of his hard heart, he is handed over to the torturers (v. 34).

Jesus warns in verse 35 that if we do not forgive others from the heart, the same fate awaits us. The torturers symbolize demonic oppression, guilt, bitterness, and spiritual bondage. Unforgiveness gives Satan a foothold, keeping us trapped in torment.

To forgive like Jesus is to release people completely, just as God forgives us in Christ (Ephesians 4:32). Forgiveness brings healing, freedom, and restoration, while unforgiveness invites suffering and spiritual attack.
