Well, we're thrilled
to have you and I've got a lot
of questions based on our lastsession, but I know we're
supposed to move on to adifferent subject, and that
being what are the benefits of awhole home water filtration
system?
Speaker 3 (01:10):
There are a lot of
things that we can talk about,
so I'll just get started with.
I'll talk about well waterfirst.
If you have well water, youalready understand that the
water can have odors, it canstain things, it can have a lot
of residue buildup and withthose issues, there's also the
potential for contamination,bacteria and things like that E
(01:32):
coli that can be present in thewell water.
So having your water tested isvery important to protect your
family's health and to alsoprotect your appliances and
things you've invested in inyour home, and so that's a
really good thing for someone todo.
If they have well water already, make sure that they're taking
care of their family and they'reprotecting their investment.
(01:56):
When we look at city water, alot of people have the
conception that the water issafe because they're purchasing
it or that it's regulated by thegovernment.
The water that's coming to themis clean and safe.
That is kind of a misnomer.
I think that when we thinkabout city water being safe, the

correct term would be sanitary.
The water is sanitary.
For a long time, chlorine hasbeen the method that is
generally used in waterpurification or water filtration
from the city, municipal, watersupply, county, whoever it may
be that is supplying your water,and the reality is the water
(02:39):
quality itself isn't thatamazing, but what they've done
is they have cleaned it up soit's nice and clear and it comes
to you in a form that looksnice and clean, it doesn't have
cloudiness, it doesn'tnecessarily have much smell,
except for the chlorine smell,and over the years chlorine has
kind of been revealed assomething that we don't
(03:01):
necessarily want in our water.
Because what do we use chlorinefor?
Well, it's in bleach and it'sin every sanitizing cleaning
agent that you use to kill germsand kill stuff.
And so people have kind offigured out hey, I don't know if
I want chlorine in my water,and so, based on that, the water
treatment systems have kind ofmoved on to bromide.
(03:22):
Now Most of the water treatmentthat I've looked at recently
has been treated with bromide,and there's not a big difference
between chlorine and bromide.
But it doesn't say chlorine.
So I think the consensus isthat it's not anymore.
So maybe we've moved on tosomething cleaner, safer, but it
is really just a disinfectionagent, and so the water is
(03:47):
coming from a source Sometimesit's a well, sometimes it's
surface water that the municipalwater supply is gathering the
water from.
Some water goes to the customersand then also is reclaimed and
comes back to the city.
They clean that up with severaldifferent filtration and
cleaning processes and then thatwater is added back into the
(04:09):
water that comes out to thecustomers, and so some of the
things that are left in therethat they just don't remove are
very harmful to us, orpotentially harmful, I guess, it
depends on who you listen to.
We know that pharmaceuticalsaren't good for us and we
shouldn't be taking someoneelse's pharmaceuticals, but it's
largely impossible for the citywater supply to remove all the
(04:32):
pharmaceuticals from thereclaimed water, so we are
getting some of somebody else'spharmaceuticals and that's not a
good idea.
We also get some nitrates, whichcan be fertilizers or organic
waste.
Think about that for a momentSomeone else's organic waste in
your drinking water.
Along with that is themicroplastics that we have heard
(04:56):
of, potentially lead fromplumbing that hasn't been
converted over to a more modernmaterial, chromium hexavalent or
chromium-6.
If you've ever seen the movieErin Brockovich, that's the
chemical that she was fightingagainst that was contaminating
that small town.
So there's a lot of things thatare in the water that can be
(05:18):
detrimental to our health thataren't necessarily legally
removed by necessity because theEPA doesn't have a standard for
it.
If anyone wants to find outsome more about these things,
they can look on a websitecalled the Environmental Working
Group.
A really easy way to accessthis is just type into your
(05:39):
browser search EWG, and it willbring you to Environmental
Working Group and you can clickthe tap water database.
That will prompt you to putyour zip code in and then from
there you can choose the watertreatment plant that you get
your water from, and then itwill show you the water quality
report assessed by currenthealth values and current health
(06:02):
standards.
The scary part about this isthe water quality report
typically uses terms likemaximum contaminant level.
Well, I don't know about you,but maximum contaminant level
doesn't give me a warm, fuzzyfeeling when I think of.
That's the most of acontaminant that they can allow
in the water they're selling meto drink.
The water is also typicallythought of as being potable, or
(06:26):
potable which is drinkable, andin the way that I look at health
and wellness, you shouldn'tconsume that water in its raw
form, coming from the city, andso there's a lot of things that
need to be looked at as far asthe water quality.
But some of the reasons why afiltration system would be good,
even on city water, is toremove those chemicals.
(06:47):
To start out with, carbonfiltration can remove a lot of
the chemicals that are passed on.
These are byproducts ofchlorination and aggromination
heliocytic acids,trihalomethanes, things like
that that are not safe for us toconsume.
That can be removed with carbonfiltration.
Filtration, as well as some ofthe micro plastics that we've
(07:09):
heard about, can be removed bycarbon filtration as well.
Largely, one of the otherproblems that we have with the
water that comes into our house,whether it's well water or city
water, is the amount ofhardness which is dissolved
mineral, calcium, magnesium, itcan be iron or lead that can be
in the water and that can causea buildup on our jets in the
(07:33):
dishwasher, maybe a shower head,around the faucets and fixtures
.
That can cause failure in thosethings.
It can cause our appliancesthat use water, like a
dishwasher or washing machinewater heater, to fail
prematurely.
I think everyone has theunderstanding now that things
aren't quite made like they usedto be made.
They're not made to last aslong, and so we want to get the
(07:56):
most life out of our appliancesas possible, and so having
treated water, conditioned waterin your home that removes those
minerals to help yourappliances and faucets and
fixtures last longer isdefinitely a huge benefit to the
homeowner.
One of the other things thatpeople don't think about is
soaps and cleaning products alsohave lots of different
(08:18):
chemicals in them to causesudsing and to be effective, and
when you have hardness in yourwater, that hardness mineral
bonds with the soap and and itforms a soap curd or soap scum.
You may have noticed this onyour dishes or in the shower,
and it's really hard to cleanoff and it needs another harsh
(08:41):
chemical in order to remove it,as well as some elbow grease and
so removing the minerals fromyour water before it goes into
your home is a great way to savecleaning and extra work around
the house as well.

Wow, yeah, I'm quite
familiar with that soap scum,
unfortunately.
Well, how does and I think Iknow the answer to this and you
touched on it how does a wholehome water filtration system
compare to a pitcher filter oreven a refrigerator water filter
?
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Well, there's several
different levels of filtration
and so carbon filtration getsrid of taste and odor issues and
chemicals and things that youwould notice by tasting it or
smelling it.
A softener removes the hardness, minerals that cause extra
cleaning and extra soaps to bepurchased and causes our
appliances to degrade and wearout quicker.
(09:38):
But then there's also the issueof you know, sometimes water is
not sanitary.
So if you have water that's notsanitary, maybe there's a
boiled water notice, or you havewell water.
Ultraviolet sterilization is aphenomenal way to have peace of
mind that the water coming inyour home is disinfected, it's
sanitary, and then, on top ofall of that, reverse osmosis for
(10:03):
the water that you're actuallydrinking, cooking with consuming
.
That means that water has allof the other contaminants,
things like pharmaceuticals andherbicides, pesticides those
things have been removed.
All of the things that can behormone disruptors or endocrine
disruptors in the body areremoved from that water, largely
(10:25):
removed.
We're talking 96 to 98%reduction after it has gone
through carb infiltration andthe softening unit already, to
make sure that the water that'sgoing into your body is very
safe.
It's safe for your metabolicprocesses, it's safe to not add
any more toxins to your body andI think that's the word that I
(10:45):
haven't used it yet but toxinsin our body causes us to age, it
causes us to have disease, itcauses us to have all sorts of
problems within our physical,just the way the body functions.
And so when we can keep toxinsfrom entering our body by making
sure that the water qualitythat we come in contact with and
(11:06):
that we drink and cook with isclean and free of toxins, that
makes us much healthier, and sothat's what we really focus on.
We focus on making sure that wetake care of the entire issue
of water quality, from justtaking care of the house, making
sure that all the appliances,faucets and fixtures last longer
(11:29):
, the house stays cleaner andthe water that we drink is safer
.
But when we do have a betterquality water, we don't need
soaps and cleaning products thathave chemicals in them, so you
can move to a plant-based soapsand cleaning products that is
safer for you, safer for yourfamily and for the environment.

Wow.
Well, there's a lot to talkabout there, apparently Amazing.
You just have no idea, you know.
