Ever wandered through the eerie hallways of Kubrick's imagination? Join me, Travis Dudding, as we unlock the dread and genius within "The Shining." Traverse the unsettling journey of the Torrance family, where the Overlook Hotel's disorienting architecture and the enigmatic Tony set the stage for a thrilling analysis. From the haunting opening sequence to the chilling presence of a spectral bartender, this episode promises to dissect the film's most compelling elements, with a sprinkle of behind-the-scenes trivia for good measure.

Feel the walls of the Overlook enclose as we scrutinize the film's portrayal of isolation and descent into madness. Witness Jack's calm in the face of gruesome stories, Wendy's compassionate strength, and Danny's unnerving encounters with the unknown. Together, we'll navigate the psychological labyrinth, as intricate as the hotel's hedge maze, piecing together the threads of tension that Kubrick masterfully weaves through his cinematic tapestry. The iconic 'Kubrick stare' and the blood-flooded elevator await us, with insights into the family dynamics that set a course towards terror.

In our climactic discussion, we confront the film's ambiguous ending and the spectral photograph that has haunted viewers for decades. Through the icy corridors and unsettling revelations, we examine Danny's ingenuity, Wendy's harrowing ordeals, and Jack's final, frozen moments. This is not merely a retelling; it's an exploration of "The Shining"'s eerie allure, a film that continues to defy and define the horror genre. So grab a blanket and prepare for a journey that promises to leave you pondering long after the credits roll.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello and welcome to another episode of Movies, colin
.
They're pretty good.
I'm your host, travis Dutting, joining you today from my new
apartment in Pullman, washington, just started the spring
semester at Washington StateUniversity doing business
economics.
But enough about that, let'sget right into the movie.

(00:27):
So today we continue our snowbut not Christmas themed month
with one of my all time favoritefilms.
Just in general.
Not favorite snow films, notfavorite horror films, just
favorite films Stanley Kubrick's1980 adaptation of Stephen

(00:48):
King's novel the Shining.
Oh, just an amazing movie.
Just love it so much.
Can't wait to talk about it.
I just love everything about it, as you could tell from the
podcast logo, which uses thecarpet as the background.
Just a great movie.

(01:09):
Love it, love it so much.
Big fan of it.
So let's, without further ado,get right into it.
So we open on this overheadhelicopter shot of a car going
down a mountain road.
It's supposed to be going upthe Rockies to the Overlook
Hotel, which is supposed to be,like I said, in the Rockies in

(01:32):
Colorado.
It's actually shot in GlacierNational Park, which, as soon as
I found that out, I'm like well, now I got to get over there
and check it out, because that'sa lot closer to me than the I
mean, the Rockies aren't thatfar but when it's supposed to be
in Colorado, not the Wyomingpart of the Rockies but not only

(01:56):
are we getting this amazinglyshot sequence just of beautiful
mountains and a lone car on thehighway, we're getting the score
, the amazing, perfect score.
I love it so much.
I can't put my finger on what Ilove so much about it, just
that it's just so perfectlyominous and tone setting.

(02:20):
But the score by Wendy Carlosand Rachel Elkind, I think, yeah
, that's what?
But man just love that score somuch and it's very well used in
Westworld, season 3.
And I forget the context of itand everything but immediately

(02:41):
recognizable.
But it's just like.
It's such a good like tonesetting music piece that it got
used appropriately in that andthen it works just as well as it
does in this movie.
But like I said, going throughthe Rockies we get the opening
credits in just like a verysimple, straightforward font,

(03:07):
like I'm not like a, I'm not afont guy, so I don't know
exactly which font, but it'sjust simple baby blue letters.
And then we finally get ourfirst look at the Overlook Hotel
and for this establishing shotthey used the Timberline Lodge
in Mount Hood, oregon, but it'sreally only for this initial

(03:33):
establishing shot and forreference.
And then they built an exteriorreplica at, I think, elstree
Studios in England and thenobviously all the indoor stuff
as well was shot there.
And it should be noted thatthere are inconsistencies with

(03:53):
that establishing shot andvarious shots of the exterior
throughout the film, like thelayout of the hotel changes and
all that stuff.
And depending on who you ask,if you ask most of the people in
the documentary Room 237,everything's on purpose and

(04:15):
everything's a code forsomething and everything
represents something, or youknow, basically any
inconsistencies or continuityerrors are on purpose and mean
that Stanley Kubrick faked themoon landing.
So I just saved you two hours.

(04:37):
You don't have to watch thatdocumentary now.
I mean you know there's somegood information in there, but a
lot of it's a little bit likeokay, settle down, but yeah, a
little tweaks here and there.
Some of it could be on purpose.
I think it is maybe supposed.
I think the best theory I'veheard was that it's just

(04:59):
supposed to be like make youfeel a little disoriented, that
the inconsistency likesubconsciously makes you feel
disoriented, and if that's thecase then like I applaud that.
That's, that's genius rightthere.
No matter what, like thereasoning, you know, if it was
on purpose, on accident, stanleyKubrick is still a creative

(05:22):
genius, no matter what, nomatter how mean he is or any of
that stuff, it's, he's a genius.
That it shows.
We get a short little title card, we get a few of these
throughout, just kind ofestablished like what, what's
going on.
This one says, just as theinterview, and we see Mr Ollman

(05:46):
is there to meet with JackTorrance, played by Jack
Nicholson, and is waiting forhim in the lobby.
No, wait, no, jack has arrivedin the lobby, asked at the front
desk and like, oh, mr Ollman'sin his office.
And then it's just, you know, first door on the left, and
here's one of those notableinconsistencies with the layout

(06:10):
is that you could see, as he'sgoing to the office, that
there's obviously some sort ofhallway that would go behind the
office, but when he gets to theoffice there is a window to the
outside.
So it's one of those just likeweird things that honestly I

(06:30):
probably wouldn't have reallynoticed and tell my 20th viewing
, but now that it's been pointedout, it's, it's a little, it's
obvious, you know.
So we cut from the interviewover to Wendy and Danny Torrance
, jack's wife and son.
They're at their apartment inBoulder, colorado, and they're

(06:51):
just watching TV.
Danny asks his mom about thehotel, if he's excited or if
she's, like you know, happy tobe going there and stuff like
that, and she's like, oh yeah, like I think it'll be exciting
and like what?
Like what do you think?
And I forget what his exactanswer is, but basically the
establishes that he's likenervous about it and that Tony

(07:13):
is nervous about it.
Tony, we learn, is Danny'simaginary friend and like Danny
does like the voice, he doeslike a little finger thing like
Tony.
You know, I can't do the voiceright now because I'm sick.
Covid, of course, like I saidjust that, we know that Tony

(07:33):
doesn't want to go, but he's notsaying why.
Cut back to Jack.
He's kind of given someinformation about himself.
We learned that he used to be ateacher and that now he's a
writer, that basically teachingwas a way to make ends meet.
But he what, like writings, like his main, like dream drive,
all that stuff.
Basically he's interviewing tobe the caretaker over the winter

(07:58):
because this place is closedfrom, I think, november, I want
to say until May 1st.
I don't know why I remember theend date but not the start date
.
Yeah, they just need someone tokeep up with the machinery, make
sure the generator's workingand that you know the place

(08:18):
doesn't overheat or under heatand doesn't freeze all that
stuff, and just like keep an eyeon it while they're closed for
the winter.
And you know, jack asked likehey, like well, why don't you
just like leave it open forskiing and stuff?
You know seems like the perfectplace.
And he's like, yeah, well, that's true, but it's just not

(08:40):
worth the cost of keeping the,the road open because basically,
if they're, if they opened aslike a ski resort, they'd be the
ones paying to have the roadsstay clear.
And it's this like 25 milestretch of road and that gets an
average of 20 feet of snow perper winter.

(09:00):
So it's just not not feasiblefinancially, which could totally
make sense.
It's just a lot cheaper to haveone guy or one family come and
stay.
So he goes over a little bitlike what his duties are going
to be like and and says that thethe main thing that they're
worried about is the isolation.

(09:21):
I think that's why they likewant a family versus just one
person and then he's, like, hesitantly, mentioned like well,
we should note that there wasan incident in 1970 where the
caretaker basically went crazyand killed his family with an

(09:46):
axe and and Jack's face, likeduring this, is just very, very
serious.
It's.
There's a lot of I don'tmention a couple of them, but
there's a lot of likeinteresting facial expressions
that are kind of no expressionand you're getting no like
reaction where it seems likethere should be a reaction and

(10:12):
this is one of those instances.
He's just very like you know, and just taking it all in.
It says like, yeah, 1970, a guynamed Charles Grady was the
caretaker went, went crazy, killed his family two twin
daughters and his wife with anaxe, stacked him in one of the

(10:36):
rooms in the West Wing and thenput a shotgun in his mouth and
killed himself.
So basically he's just givingthem this information like hey,
like I don't want you to find itout about this the wrong way,
and full disclosure, this iswhat you could be getting into.
So I just want to let you know.
But, like you know, the expertssay it was just a classic case
of cabin fever and all thisstuff.

(10:57):
And then, yeah, and then theythink that at that point the
scene cuts away to Danny in thebathroom.
He's like standing on like alittle you know step stool that
you'd have for like a little kid, because he's, you know,
brushing his teeth in the mirror, but he's having a conversation
with Tony in the mirror and sohe goes back and forth with his
like regular speaking voice andthen he does that like little

(11:20):
gruff, like Tony voice as well, and he's like Tony, do you think
dad got the job?
And Tony's like he did, andthen that he's going to call
Wendy here in a little bit.
And then we hear the phone ring.
Wendy picks up the phone and wejust hear, oh, never mind, we

(11:41):
do see both sides of theconversation.
But find out that he got thejob but he has to stay there and
do more paperwork and he'll behome like late, like after
dinner and stuff like that.
Danny is asking Tony like whydon't you want to go to the
hotel?
And he's like I can't tell you.
And he's like come on please, you know, and just kind of like
begs Tony, and Tony finally doesshow him.

(12:03):
And then we see Danny kind offreeze up a little bit and like
his eyes get all big and thenwe're seeing like what Tony's
showing him and Tony's showinghim like visions of the hotel.
We're seeing the famous, theblood coming out of the elevator
doors and flash of the twinsthat will come into play later,

(12:29):
both like probably two of themost famous, like iconic images
of the film that anyone wouldrecognize, even if you don't or
haven't seen the film.
We then cut to a doctor is therein Danny's bedroom, with Danny

(12:50):
just kind of asking himquestions like hey, like like
what's the last thing youremember, like before waking up,
or you know stuff like that.
And he's like I remember my momsaying wake up, danny, wake up.
And like what were you doingbefore that?
I was brushing my teeth.
What about before that?

(13:10):
Like I was talking to Tony andshe asked him some questions
about Tony.
Like well, who's Tony?
Is he your imaginary friend?
Is he one of your stuffedanimals?
He says Tony is the little boywho lives in my mouth.
And then she's like, okay, likeif I, if you, were to open your
mouth, could I see Tony?
And no, because he goes andhides.
And where does he hide?
He hides in my stomach.

(13:32):
She's just she's being very likekind and gentle with them and
everything, not like trying tomake them feel like weird or
anything like that.
Like it's, like, are you crazy?
You know, which is refreshing, especially for movies of this
time, I feel like the trendwould be to be like, oh you're

(13:53):
crazy, the kids are crazy, youknow stuff like that, just like
very like clinical and logical, but accepting and kind and
nurturing, I guess.
So she basically just tellsthem like okay, like I need you
to do me a favor and just restfor the day and stay in bed.
And so then she goes out intothe living room with Wendy I

(14:18):
don't think I noted this before, but Wendy played by Shelly
Duvall, like an amazingperformance from her.
But so they go out into theliving room and talk.
So they go out into the livingroom and talk.
The doctor tells Wendy like hey, like it's nothing to worry
about, like these things happenwith kids all the time, and a

(14:39):
lot of times there's noexplanation and it never happens
again.
But also, just on the safe side, if it does happen again, then
let us know, you know.
So just very reassuring andeverything like it's okay.
It's not necessarily like aseizure, it's just kind of like
a almost like a self hypnosistype thing or I forget what the

(15:00):
actual terms used.
But then she starts to askWendy some questions like, oh,
like, when did Tony like?
Or how long have you lived inBoulder?
And like, oh, you know, justabout a year or so.
And it's like, is that when Tonystarted to come around?
Like no, that was probablyabout when Danny started grade

(15:23):
school or nursery school, Ithink is what she said.
And like, oh, like, did headjust well to that?
No, not really, but I thinkthat's when I first started
noticing Tony, that, or aroundhis injury.
And like, oh, what sort ofinjury.
Oh, he dislocated his shoulder.

(15:43):
Oh, how did he manage to dothat?
And then Wendy's like well, yousee, jack, tony or Danny's
father, came home late, likethree hours late one night and
he had been drinking and so hewasn't in really good mood, and

(16:03):
Danny had scattered some ofJack's papers around and Jack
got upset and tried to pull himor grabbed Danny's arm to pull
him away, but, you know, grabbedhim a little too hard and it
ended up dislocating hisshoulder.

(16:24):
And it's really interesting how, like you can see, you can see
in here Wendy like trying tomake it seem like it's not that
big of a deal.
But you know you could tellthat she knows that it is, but

(16:44):
trying to play it off.
But this is another one ofthose instances of the like a
facial expression, like showingno emotion one way or the other
and I'm talking about the doctorin this case is just like you
know, they show her face andshe's just like no expression

(17:07):
one way or the other, like oh myGod, that's abuse or yeah,
that's fine, or you know nothing.
There's just we're getting noinformation from the doctor
whatsoever and I think that'sdefinitely on purpose and
because you know that's all weneed to know is like Wendy's
thoughts on it, you know, because the doctor doesn't,

(17:28):
isn't going to be around for therest of the movie and it's just
a.
It's a very smart way to showsomething that happens
unfortunately far too often isthat there's these people in
these semi abusive relationshipsthat it's not outright red flag

(17:50):
central, you know, but there'senough of them there to like be
a little, like okay, like hey, that's, that's probably not good
and either get that checked outor get out, you know.
But yeah, I think they justShelly Duvall just does such a
good job of like portraying thatwithout outright saying

(18:14):
anything.
But she ends the story withsaying that like well, like ever
since then, like Jack promised, like you know, he vowed to
never touch a drop of alcoholagain and he's been sober ever
since.
You know, I think five monthsago, that this happened.

(18:35):
He'll say later, just ends withfinding out that Jack's been
sober the whole time and thenmove on, get another card that
says closing day, and so we cutto the family.
They're driving up that sameroad and we see all three of

(18:55):
them in the car togetherActually one of the very few
scenes of all three of themtogether.
I mean they're technicallytogether throughout the whole
movie, but like there's not alot of like actual single shots
of all three main characterstogether.
And they're driving up in theirlittle I think it's a little

(19:20):
yellow bug, I'm pretty sure VW.
They talk a little bit aboutjust like how the air is so
different up there and then justhow beautiful it is.
And then Wendy asked like hey, isn't it around here that the
Donner party got stuck?
And Jack says no, I think thatwas over, that was further west
in the Sierras.
And Danny asked like hey, what's the Donner party?

(19:41):
And Jack says like oh, it's agroup of settlers that got stuck
in the snow and ended upresorting to cannibalism.
And Danny's like you mean theyate each other up.
And then, like Wendy's like alittle hesitant to continue this
story.
And then Danny's like don'tworry, mom, I know all about

(20:04):
cannibalism, I've learned it onTV.
And then Jack like kind of hesmarks, he's like you hear that?
That's fine, he learned aboutit on the television.
And it's just one of like a fewtimes that Jack shows his
sinister side, without beinglike outright scary, you know,

(20:27):
but it's just like a little hinthere and there.
We then cut to Jack waiting inthe lobby reading a Playgirl
magazine for some reason never, never outright acknowledged or
anything like that.
It's just one of those likesubtle details that it's just

(20:48):
it's.
It doesn't necessarily meananything, but it just makes you
go huh, weird.
But yeah, puts the magazinedown.
When Mr Oman comes and thenthey get up and get started on
the tour, we see that theirluggage is behind him in the
lobby and it's a massive pile ofluggage that seems like it's

(21:13):
would not fit like on or insidethis car that they came up in.
But there it is.
But they get started with thistour of the hotel.
We cut to Danny playing dartsin the like one of the break
rooms or a game room, somethinglike that.
And as he's playing darts, hehe goes to get the darts out of

(21:37):
the dartboard after he throwsthree, pulls them out and turns
around.
And then there's the twins thatwe saw in his vision that Tony
showed them, and they're justlike standing in there looking
at him and then they look at,look to each other, turn around
and then leave the game room.

(21:57):
You know, that's it for now.
Cut back to the tour.
We see them showing wherethey're going to be staying,
saying like, oh, this, thislittle apartment, it's got a
bedroom, kitchen, bathroom andthen a smaller bedroom for your
son.
And they're like oh, this isgoing to be perfect.
And he's like and we're youknow, worst case scenario, if

(22:18):
you want to spread out, you canhave the whole, tell your whole
hotel yourself.
So, like, just do whatever youwant, you know.
We then see the large hedgemaze out out the side of the
hotel, like huge, like 12 foothedges and stuff like that.
And he's like yeah, like it'sgreat, just make sure you have

(22:42):
plenty of time because you canget stuck out here for hours.
You know, before you find yourway out, we get the casual off
handed line about the hotelbeing built on an you know quote
ancient Indian burial ground, major trope for any ghost movie

(23:04):
that you know.
You got poltergeist, this petcemetery.
You know a bunch of differentmovies that definitely overused,
but it's definitely one ofthose.
Like, oh, by the way, the placeis haunted, without saying
outright that it's haunted.
And then they show them thesnow cat, which is like the,

(23:26):
basically a tractor that candrive through the snow.
And, you know, in case ofemergencies, if they had to get
down the mountain or whatever, then they're not completely
stranded.
You know, show them the goldballroom and they make a
reference to like hey, likeyou're.
Oh, wendy says like we couldthrow a big party here, and then

(23:47):
he's like Well, like Mr Omansays like only if you brought
your own supply.
Like we have to take all theliquor out for insurance
purposes.
And then Jack says Well, wedon't drink.
And he's like Well, then thatworks out perfectly.
But, yeah, big ballroom, it'sgot a bar in it which is empty
at this point.
You know bathrooms andeverything, and it's here in the

(24:09):
ballroom that we get introducedto probably the besides the
main three torrents as the nextbiggest character in the film
and that's Dick Halloran.
He's the I forget his job titleactually, but he's there to

(24:29):
show Wendy around, like wherethe kitchen is and everything,
and basically he's like the guywho is in charge of, like, the
staff and the caretakers andstuff like that.
But he's played by a Scatman,carothers.
And something interesting is Ihave recently read through well,

(24:52):
I've listened to the audiobook.
I've been trying to readStephen King's it for probably
close to 20 years at this pointand I just like I'm not much of
a reader, honestly.
That's why I love movies somuch, but I'm very visual person
and and I just get I probablyhave some undiagnosed ADHD or

(25:18):
something like that, because Ijust always get distracted while
reading.
But finally just broke down andgot the audiobook and listened
all the way through it and itwas cool because I know and I
already knew this before thatStephen King connects a lot of
his books like very loosely, andthere was mention of Dick

(25:39):
Halloran in there in a flashbackfrom Mike's grandpa or dad, I
forget, but either way, dickHalloran made a cameo in it and
I thought that was pretty cool, but anyways, played by Scatman
Carothers.
He's there and he's getsintroduced to the family.

(26:00):
It goes to show.
Wendy and Danny break off fromthe tour and they're going to
get their own separate tour withwith Dick, and he shows them
the kitchen, the pantry, thefreezer, and during their like
little tour at some point, well,a couple times, dick calls a

(26:20):
flight.
Hey, like, talks to Danny andcalls him Doc, which is what
Jack and Wendy call him.
And but and she makes note ofthis like hey, like, I noticed
you calling him Doc, like how'dyou know we call him doc.
And he's like, oh, I must haveheard you say it, he's like.
He's like, yeah, it's possible,but I don't remember calling

(26:40):
him Doc.
And but you know he just playsit off.
But then when he's showing themthe pantry and he is like
listing all these things thatare there in stock for them, he
turns to Danny and we're gettingthis like ominous oh my God, I
hate that stupid thumbs up thing.

(27:02):
We're getting this like ominoustone and everything.
And he turns to Danny and eventhough he's talking out loud to
Wendy, we hear his voicedirectly to Danny like how'd you
like some ice cream, doc.
And so he like speakstelekinetically or
telepathically, I don't remember, I don't, I forget the

(27:23):
difference directly to Danny.
And so at a certain point he'sdone showing Wendy around.
Oh yeah, they meet back up withMr Olman and that group and
they're like hey, like we needto show Wendy some stuff, you
mind if we steal her from you?
And then Dick's like oh yeah, that's fine.

(27:43):
Like hey, you guys mind if Iget some ice cream for Danny
here?
And then Jack and Winder likeno, that's fine, like go ahead.
We then get this scene betweenDick and Danny where they're
eating ice cream in the kitchen.
And this is where Dick says toDanny like hey, like you know,

(28:04):
how'd you know?
Or you know how do you think?
I knew that they called you Docand how you know that I talked
to you like that and all thatstuff.
And then he basically says, like me and my grandma used to
have entire conversationswithout ever opening our mouths

(28:24):
and she called it shining.
So it's like this gift thatsome people have and some people
don't.
Basically, you know, and he'slike I always thought that it
was just the two of us that cando it.
And then I got older and foundout that there, you know,
there's other people out therethat have this gift and I have

(28:44):
it and I think you have it.
And then I forget how they geton the subject, but they do,
they start talking about Tonyand I forget if it's a certain
question that Dick asks or justsomething that Danny says.
But they get on this, you know, subject of Tony.
And he's like does Tony evertold you anything about the

(29:06):
Overlook Hotel?
And he's like, yeah, but I'mnot supposed to say.
And he's like why not?
And he's like I don't know.
And it's like does your mom anddad know about Tony?
And he's like, yeah, they do,but and have you ever told them
about what Tony has showed youor told you?

(29:29):
And then he says no, like Tonysaid to never tell them.
And so then he asks like youknow, what do you think about?
The?
Like, oh, he asked about theOverlook Hotel, danny does.
And he's like is this place bad?
Like?
And Dick's like, well, you knowhe doesn't beat around the bush

(29:49):
, he'll accept a little bit.
And he says, like you know, Ithink there's things that happen
that leave traces, kind of likeburnt toast, like the smell of
burnt toast, you know, and justlike there's some people that
shine and some that don't.
Some places can do somethinglike that, and I think that the

(30:11):
Overlook does something that's alittle similar to shining, but
like whatever, like the you knowplace version of doing it
rather than person, and he askslike if he likes it there.
And then they just keep talkingabout the hotel.
But then Danny asks like whatabout room 237?
And he's like what about room237?

(30:34):
And he's like are you, are youafraid of room 237?
And then Dick's whole demeanorchanges at this point and he
just gets like real serious.
He's like no, like I'm not, there's nothing that I'm not,
there's nothing to be afraid ofthere.

(30:56):
And he's like, and he asks likedid Tony ever tell you or show
you what's in room 237?
And even asked like no, like, but what is in there?
And he's like nothing, andthere's nothing to worry about,
but don't ever go in there.
And but so he gets like realserious about it, but doesn't
exactly say like what the dealis with that room.

(31:16):
So then we get the next infocard, say in a month later, and
we see Wendy pushing a breakfastcart through the hotel and then
we see Danny riding his bigwheel around and we get this
like it's.
It's so cool how they did itwith the, the sound design and

(31:40):
we get the, because they had, like, the microphone right there
and it was the change in tonesof the wheels on the carpet
versus the wheels on the hardfloor and it just keeps like
switching as he's like goingaround in a circle.
And this is awesome trackingshot, like directly behind with

(32:02):
the Steadycam and everything.
The actual, like inventor ofthe Steadycam I forgot his name,
but he worked on this movie andI don't think I don't remember
if he invented it for this.
But either way it's, you know,if you need a Steadycam shot,
you get the guy that invented itand that's why it looks so

(32:23):
awesome.
And we see Wendy bring the cartinto the room where Jack is
asleep and she wakes him up andshe's like oh, good morning, hun
.
Breakfast is ready.
And he's like oh, what time isit?
It's like it's 1130 something.
And like oh, like, I guess I'vebeen staying up too late or you
know stuff like that and youknow everything's pretty normal

(32:46):
at this point.
Nothing, nothing weird yet, butJack does mention because
they're talking about like oh,do you love it here and stuff
like that.
And Wendy's like saying like, yeah, like she likes it a lot.
And Jack's like, man, I love it, like I fell in love the first
time I saw it when I interviewedhere and he's like, and he says
that it's.

(33:06):
It was almost as if he's beenhere before and he's like it's
not quite like deja vu, but itwas almost as if I knew what was
gonna be.
Around every single corner weget a shot of Jack throwing a
tennis ball against the like oneof like the big murals inside

(33:28):
the lobby and he's just likethrowing it against the wall and
he catch it and he throw it.
And you know we're hearing thebig like echoing sounds, like
speaking big echoing sound, andyou hear my stomach there and
he's just throwing it andthere's a little disrespectful
of the artwork in there I'd say,but you know whatever.

(33:49):
Then we see Wendy and Dannyheading out to the maze.
They're all like bundled up andeverything.
It hasn't started snowing yetor anything, but they go out in
the maze and we see Jack youdecide, I guess you decide he's
done throwing the tennis ballaround and goes and looks at the
model of the maze which is likeon this big table, and one of

(34:15):
the coolest shots is the.
It's a slow zoom down fromabove the maze, but it's like of
the model, but it turns intobut you see the.
You know the little movement ofWendy and Danny in the middle

(34:36):
of the maze and it's a real coollike transitional shot from the
model to the actual maze, whichapparently they did like do a
crane shot of the maze and thensuperimposed a shot that they
did like between some apartmentbuildings or something like that
, like of the.

(34:57):
They just built the center andfilmed them from above.
So it looks amazing.
And then we get my favoritetransition to a one of the title
info cards where it's just anall caps Tuesday and like even
the music's like it's just likeso, like crazy, cause it's like,

(35:21):
oh my God, the scariest thingimaginable a Tuesday.
So then it's like you know, obviously we have like here's
what the scene is.
And then it's like a monthlater and now we're getting like
a little more like zeroing inon, like what's going to happen,
cause now it's like day by dayand then, as we'll see later,

(35:41):
it's going to be like, you know, hour by hour type deal.
But yeah, tuesday we see Dannyon the big wheel again.
This time he's in one of theupper floors, the one that has
like a balcony, like over thelobby, basically cause we see
like the big opening.
But this time he's likeactually like on like the carpet

(36:03):
, the iconic orange carpet from.
You know the logo of thepodcast, but you know that
everyone shouldn't recognize ifthey've seen the movie.
But this time, while he'sdriving around, he slows down
and looks up at a door and getsup and we realize that oh, it's
room 237.

(36:24):
And he like kind of goes up toit and touches the door knob.
But I forget, yeah, I don'tthink he sees anything at this
point, and if he does then wedon't see it.
But you know he touches it andthen kind of backs away and gets
down on his big wheel and Ilike that he like kind of pushes

(36:48):
the back wheel to like kind ofget it started a little bit and
then, you know, drives off.
You see Jack typing in the likein one of like the big common
rooms and he's just typing awayand Wendy comes and talks to him
and he starts like this iswhere he starts to like get

(37:09):
annoyed with her and she causeshe's like hey, like you know, I
heard on the radio it's goingto start snowing and you know
we're going to get like a bigsnowstorm.
And he's like and what do youwant me to do about it?
And he's just like what?
Like nothing.
I was just like telling you.
And then he, like this is wherehe like be rates.

(37:30):
Or he's like, every time youcome in here while I'm typing,
it breaks my concentration.
And then I got to start overand he like picks up his papers
and like kind of crumples themand throws them and just like
yells at her.
And it's like, you know, if youhear me typing better, yet if
you don't hear anything, if I'min this room, you leave me the
fuck alone.

(37:50):
That means I'm busy.
And he said, and you know, andshe just kind of like, oh okay,
like very timidly, like okay.
And he's like now, why don'tyou get started and get the fuck
out of here?
And then I was like oh, okay, you know, now we're starting to
see a little bit of a change inthem.
And then we get the Thursday, you know, another big like scary

(38:13):
music, sting and everything.
And this is where we see Wendyand Danny out playing out in the
snow.
But then we cut to Jack andthis is like one of those iconic
, the Kubrick stare.
And I don't think I I don'tknow if I talked about it in the
other Kubrick episodes EyesWide Shut, and cause I'm trying
to think of what the Kubrickstare from Eyes Wide Shut is.

(38:35):
Anyways, it doesn't matter.
But like you know, or like AlexDelarge in Clockwork Orange,
just like staring straight intothe camera and everything.
But we get Jack Nicholson orJack Torrance staring out the
window at them and just like, like that and just like super

(38:59):
creepy, like it's so perfect andI love everything about it,
cause they're kind of like slowzooming away from him, or is it
in, I don't remember, but I lovehow I'm like it's so iconic.
And now I can't remember whichdirection the zoom is going, if

(39:21):
it's towards or away, butanyways, I could picture it.
And he's got this like greenturtleneck and everything and
just like no blink, just staringout the window and it's like,
and this is like kind of likehey, by the way, you know, he's

(39:42):
mentally not too stable rightnow and then we get the Saturday
card and Wendy goes to make aphone call and realizes that the
phones are down.
So she, you know, or suspectsthat the phones may be down
because the phone calls notgoing through gets on the radio
radios for a park ranger oranybody and you know, gets the

(40:06):
ranger station and is like, hey, like we're at the Overlook
Hotel.
And he's like, oh, like youknow, they know what's going on.
So like hey, like, how are youdoing over there?
Like, oh, we're fine, justnotice that the phones were down
.
I wonder if that was likenormal.
And he's like, yeah, like, though, they go down pretty much
every winter and they'reprobably gonna stay that way

(40:27):
until May.
So it's best that you keep yourradio on, just in case you know
, and turn it up loud so thatway you could hear wherever you
are in the hotel.
Get another scene of Dannyriding his big wheel through the
halls, but this time when heturns a corner, he sees the
twins like down at the end ofthe hall, and so he like
immediately stops and is likekind of frozen in fear, like, oh

(40:49):
God, like what's going on?
And they're just standing there.
But this time they talk to himand they're like in unison, like
hello, danny.
And then they're like theystart saying like come play with
us, danny, come play with usforever and ever and ever.

(41:11):
And then, as they're sayingthis, like repeating forever and
ever and ever, then we getflashes of their dead bodies,
like you know, cause these arethe twins that got murdered by
their dad with an ax, and we seethe ax and the bodies and the
hallway covered in blood, andit's just like flash back and

(41:32):
forth between those two things.
And then he, you know, finallycovers his eyes and then, like,
looks through his fingers andthen they're gone, you know.
And then he starts talking toTony and he's like Tony, like
I'm scared, and then he's like, remember what Mr Haller had said

(41:53):
they're just like pictures in abook, it's not real.
So and this is an interestingbit of information that really
makes you ponder the reality ofanything that happens and it's
like the way I see it is thatthe things are there, but they

(42:17):
can only affect you if you letthem.
You know what I mean.
Like it is haunted, there are, there is spiritual activity
there, but it's only, it canonly affect you if you let it.
That type of thing, you know,or maybe Tony is just like

(42:38):
setting them up for failure, cause we don't know, like, is
Tony good for Danny or bad forDanny?
You know, we don't know.
Is he looking out for Tony oris he work for the hotel?
I don't know, but either way,he says like it's just like
pictures in a book.
They're not real, you know.
But then we get the Monday cardand Danny and Wendy are in one

(43:01):
of the common areas, they'rewatching TV.
They got the, you know, thesuper awesome old CRT and like
the wood frame with like thefeet and everything.
But one thing that'sinteresting that I've seen
pointed out a bunch of times andsomething that people overthink
all the time, is that the TVhas no cord, which is super

(43:22):
interesting.
But I've also I've heard itthat it, you know, people
overthink it and think that ithas like some like significance
or symbolism or something likethat.
And I think it really came downto Stanley Kubrick saying like
well, cause it looks dumb withthe cord, like, so we like taped
it to the leg and then it justlooks better without a cord.

(43:44):
There, you know, and he's right, you know, but it's just so
funny, like all those littlethings like that that people
like blow out and blow out ofproportion and it's just like,
well, it just looked better thatway.
You know, sometimes it's justthat simple.
But Danny says to Wendy like hey, like, can I go get my fire

(44:04):
engine out of my room?
And she's like no, like can youwait, cause your dad's asleep?
He like just went to sleep andit's the morning, so he's been
up like all night apparently.
And he's like I promise I'll bereally quiet.
And she's like, okay, like, just be real quiet, like, but
don't wake him up cause he'llget upset, you know.
And so he sneaks up to the roomand he gets in there and Jack

(44:29):
is awake and also Danny'swearing this like awesome, like
Mickey Mouse sweater.
That's just like super cool, like Danny Torrance is a fashion
icon in this, with the bull cut, the sweaters and then the big
collar on the shirt andeverything.
And yeah, I want like most ofhis wardrobe, but I love his

(44:51):
Mickey sweater here.
But yeah, like I said, jack'sawake and he's just like sitting
there like kind of, you know, staring off into space again,
but and just like sitting on thebed, and it's like, okay, like
that's a little weird.
But you know, he acknowledgesDanny when he comes in and he's
like, hey, like, why don't youcome here for a minute?
And you know, sits Danny on hislap and it's like hey, like how

(45:16):
do you like it here?
And he's, and Danny's like fine, but you can tell he's like a
little apprehensive and he'slike and he asks, he's like dad,
like are you?
Oh yeah, dad, do you feel bad?
And he's like no, I'm justtired.
And he's like well, why don'tyou go to sleep?

(45:36):
And he's like I can't, I justhave too much to do.
He asks his dad do you like thishotel?
And he's like yeah, I love it.
Like I just want to stay here.
I wish we could stay hereforever and ever and ever.
And the way he says it like isverbatim the way that the Grady
twins are like come play with usforever and ever.

(46:00):
Like the same cadence,everything.
And Danny definitely clocksthis, but he doesn't make it
obvious or anything like that, but because he really is just
like kind of trying to gaugewith his dad, like okay, like
did the hotel get to you?
You know what's going on?
Like do I need to be afraid ofyou?
You know, because he could seethat there's some kind of change

(46:23):
going on and probably Tony isalso letting him know.
Like hey, like don't forget it.
But then he flat out asks himlike you wouldn't hurt me and
mommy, would you?
And Jack's tone changes.
He's like where would you get athing like that?
Like, did your mom ask you that?

(46:44):
Like, did your mom say I wouldhurt you?
And Danny's like no, no, shedidn't say that, just making
sure you know that type of thing.
You know he plays it off, butthis like plants a seed in Jack,
apparently.
Then we get the Wednesday cardand Danny's playing on the floor

(47:06):
in one of like the hexagonalcarpet hallways or whatever, and
the ball like rolls up to him.
The tennis ball that his dadwas throwing earlier like rolls
up to him while he's playingwith his cars and it like rolls
like right down the center oflike the brown stripe in the
carpet pattern.
But what's interesting is whenDanny stands up, the carpet's

(47:31):
flipped and there is no stripeleading up to him, it's leading
away from him and so it's one ofthose like interesting
inconsistencies that you know isdebated.
Wasn't on purpose, wasn't on,you know.
But yeah, the ball like rollsto him and he stands up and
looks around and he's like hello, mom, you know, see if it was

(47:52):
like his mom rolled it to him,if his dad rolled it to him.
He's wearing another iconicsweater.
He's got his Apollo 11 sweaterand this is what everyone.
I guess this is the key bit ofevidence.
The fact that he's wearing anApollo 11 sweater means that
Stanley Kubrick directed themoon landing Great day detective

(48:12):
work, I guess.
But he follows, like where theball came from and notices that
room 237 is open and it's gotthe key in it and everything in
the door is open.
And so he goes over there, youknow a little slow, and you know
goes inside and then it cuts toWendy.
She's in the generator room andshe's got like her like a

(48:38):
clipboard and notebook and justbasically doing like the
checklist to make sure that thegenerators are fine and
everything like that.
But she hears Jack kind ofscreaming, but like kind of like
a weird scream, and we see thathe's asleep at his desk where
the typewriter is and it's likehaving a nightmare but like

(49:02):
talking in the sleep, likescreaming in the sleep, like oh,
oh, oh, oh, you know.
And then it's just likeprogressively getting like more
frantic and she goes and likefinally like wakes him up and he
kind of like falls out of hischair and he's got like this big
old drool like coming down andhe's like, oh my God, it was
horrible.
I had the most horriblenightmare.
He was like I dreamt that Ikilled you and Danny, and I

(49:26):
dreamt that I didn't just killyou, though.
I chopped you up into littlebits and it's like all right,
like that's you know.
So she's a little like put offby this.
But as they're talking andshe's like comforting him and
trying to like get him back upto his feet and back into his
chair, danny comes in and he'slike you could tell he's like

(49:48):
kind of in like a little bit ofa trance, cause he's walking
very slowly.
He's got his thumb in his mouth, which is like the first time
we see him do anything like this.
So he's like sucking his thumband but then we see that like
something's off with his clothesand his like shoulder the
shoulder of his sweater is likeripped.
When he's trying to tell himlike hey, like it's okay, your

(50:10):
dad's fine, like just go play inyour room for a little bit and
I'll come see you.
But he's just, like you know, not responding and just keeps
walking in slowly.
So she goes and like Danny, likeI'm talking to you, like you
need to listen like go to yourroom.
And she goes, walks up to himand realizes, like that you know
, shirts ripped and everythingit looks at him, he's all
disheveled and there's bruiseson his neck and a little bit on

(50:33):
his face too, and it's just like, like, like Danny, what
happened?
What happened?
And it's just like trying totalk to him.
And then she turns and looks atJack and, just like you did
this to him, didn't you Like?
And just like freaks out andpicks him up and like you're a
monster, you know all this stuff.
And then, like, picks up Dannyand like, walks back up to the

(50:56):
room, you know, and Jack's justlike, but another one of those
like blank expressions that justlike not saying, like, like
it's not outright, like what areyou talking about?
You're crazy, I didn't touchhim, I'm not gonna touch him,
you know.
Like, but also not, and it'snot anger and it's not like

(51:21):
confusion, it's just like.
You know, it's so weird.
But then we see Jack, likewalking through the halls, like
near the ballroom, and he's, andnow he's starting to act like a
little crazy because he's like, kind of just like punching the
air and like grabbing at the air.
And then it's like almost likehe's like grabbing at like
someone's neck or like to likebear hug him or like strangle

(51:44):
him and stuff like that.
And he's just like, you know, just doing stuff like that, just
like acting like erratic.
He gets to the gold ballroomand goes inside and he's just
like kind of like looking aroundand everything, and he goes and
sits at the bar and he's likeI'd give anything for a drink

(52:04):
right now and he even says likequote, like I'd sell my goddamn
soul for a beer, for just a beer, just a sip of beer, or
something like that.
We get this like head-on shotof him, like looking like
directly into the camera, because he kind of like goes
like that.
And then, and just you know, right down the barrel and then

(52:24):
he just starts like talking to abartender and he's like hi,
eloid, like best bartender youknow in the in the world, like
from Timbuktu to Portland Maineor Portland Oregon, for that
matter, you know.
And but then camera turns andthere is somebody there, there

(52:46):
is a bartender, and now all of asudden there's liquor in the
bar and everything like that, and so he's talking to this
Lloyd bartender and you know allthis stuff has appeared and
everything like that, you know.
So now we're getting our firstlike well, he's getting his

(53:07):
first visual evidence of therebeing a ghost, I guess.
Or is it all in his head, wedon't know.
So he pours him a, oh, heorders a bourbon on the rocks
and pours him some Jack Daniels, which I don't think is a
bourbon.
If I remember right, I feellike it's just a whiskey, but I

(53:29):
mean, at least that's how it'slabeled.
But I know Jim Beam is abourbon, but I don't think Jack
Daniels is.
But it doesn't matter, that'sjust alcoholic talk.
But yeah, orders a bourbon onthe rocks, starts drinking it
and he does a cheers here's thefive miserable months on the
wagon, you know, and all thisstuff.
So basically, cheers to hisbroken sobriety and he starts

(53:54):
talking about Danny's injury, basically like, starts venting.
That like, oh my gosh, I can'tbelieve she would blame me for
this.
I only dislocated her shoulderone time.
Could have happened to anybodythat type of thing.
Then Wendy comes in all frantic.
And now when Wendy comes in,there's nobody there at the bar,

(54:20):
there's no glass, there's noliquor or anything like that.
But she comes in and she's likeJack, there's someone else in
the hotel, there's a crazy womanand like Danny went to this
room and this crazy woman in thebathtub tried to strangle Danny
and he's like what are you outof your fucking mind?

(54:43):
And it's so funny, just likefrom going to talking to a ghost
bartender, to turn around andjust tell your wife that says
like there's someone else at thehotel, that she's fucking crazy
for believing that, even thoughthe alternative is you

(55:05):
strangled your son, whatever.
I guess that he could have doneit to himself, but yeah, I love
his delivery on that.
It's just so funny.
She's in one of the rooms andhe's like says what room we now
cut to Dick Halloran at his homein Florida, I think Miami.

(55:28):
I mean he's watching Miami news, but he could just be in one of
the neighboring areas, but he'sin Florida.
He's got like one of the like Idon't know.
I'm realizing now, like afterrewatching it, that I think my

(55:52):
whole decorating style has beenlike loosely, like
subconsciously based on DickHalloran's bachelor pad in Miami
, because he's got like all thislike mid-century modern
furniture and stuff like thatand it's just like super vintage

(56:13):
and retro and awesome.
One thing I don't have is giantnude portraits of models with
giant afros like he does, andthat's.
He's got one behind the bed andone behind the TV.
But yeah, I love like the lookof his place and everything.

(56:37):
But we see him he's in bedwatching TV and then we get that
like ominous, like tone again.
The starts going and then we'relike slow zoom.
There's a slow zoom in and aslow zoom out, but it's like
going in on his face and he'slike you know you could tell

(57:00):
like something is happening, like in his mind and everything.
And then we're cutting betweenDick Halloran's face, like you
know, shining with Danny who'slike, he's like forming at the
mouth and like almost likehaving like a seizure type deal.
But and then the third shotthat we're going through is Jack

(57:24):
going into and it's a POV orhis point of view going into the
room 237.
And we're seeing yet anothervery aesthetically pleasing
iconic carpet, and this one thistime it's like green and purple
and it's like super.
I don't know, I would love thateither of these carpets in my

(57:45):
house someday.
I would love to model mybathroom after this bathroom in
room 237.
It's so cool, but as beyond thepoint goes into the room no one
in the room and he goes intothe bathroom which you know
Wendy said it's a woman in thein the bathroom tried to

(58:05):
strangle Danny.
Jack walks into the bathroom anda hand comes and opens the
shower curtain and there is anude woman in the bathtub.
And then, you know, jack getsthis like devious smirk on his
face because there's a nakedwoman that's not his wife in

(58:26):
there and she slowly stands upEverything's happening in slow
motion from their end and shestands up, slowly, gets out of
the tub and they kind of likewalk towards each other and meet
in the center of the bathroomand then they like embrace each

(58:48):
other and start kissing.
And then we get like a close upof Jack, you know, in this
embrace with this woman, andthen he kind of opens his eyes
and looks into the mirror andthen kind of like, oh, my god.
And then we get, you know, pulled back and then he's like,

(59:08):
oh, my god, he's like oh, my god.
And then he's like, oh, pullback.
And we see that the woman haschanged into this like much
older, kind of decayed body.
And then she starts like this, like evil laugh and, like you
know, and just starts likelaughing at him and Jack's

(59:29):
horrified and he's like backingout of the bathroom.
And then we're like flashingfrom her, like walking towards
him, like and you see all likethe rot and everything like that
, and we see that it's flashingbetween that and her body, like
in the so presumably she's awoman that died in the bathtub
and then just like slowly rotteduntil someone found her.

(59:53):
Basically, so Jack backs allthe way out of the room, you
know, closes it and locks it andthen just backs away from the
door and he's, like you know, visibly shook.
At this point we cut back toDick and he's making a phone
call to the hotel or trying toget trying to make a phone call
to the hotel and obviously thelines are down so it doesn't go
through.
And then cut to Jack, gettingto the apartment set up that

(01:00:22):
they have at the hotel and goesin and talks to Wendy and says
like hey, like I went there andthere's no one there, like, so
you know, just completely liesand like I don't know what
you're talking about, like, andthen Wendy's like Well, you know
something you know is happeningand like I don't know what's
going on and I think we justneed to get Danny out of here.

(01:00:42):
And then, like Jack's demeanorchanges again.
He's like good amount of hair, like you mean like leave the
hotel and you could tell likethe wheels are turned and like
that can't happen.
So and then he starts beratingher again and we're also cutting
to.
We see Danny is like in his roomand is like his eyes are all

(01:01:05):
big and his mouth's like open, but he's like in the trance
again and we can hear the audioof them talking about him like,
but it's all like distorted whenhe's hearing it and he's like
it's like do you ever think likeabout my responsibilities as
caretaker here?

(01:01:25):
And like like leaving would putme in jeopardy and like all
this stuff and just like yellingat her, like calling her
selfish and stuff like that.
But what's crazy is, like youknow, when he's like finally
done yelling at her and he getsup to like storm out of the room
, he looks directly into thecamera and it's like a kind of a
tracking shot of him like goingacross the room like the

(01:01:48):
camera's like in the corner andit's just like following him.
And as he like walks past thecamera, he like looks like out
of the corner of his eye, likedirectly into the camera and
it's like one of those if you'renot looking for it, you know
blink and you miss it type deals.
But yeah, real interesting shot.
So he's like walking through thehotel getting all like worked

(01:02:09):
up again and he over and hecould hear some like big band
music like playing like off inthe distance.
So he's like kind of like, hmm, like what's that all about?
And he looks down the hall, like towards, like where the
ballroom is, and there's allthese like party decorations,
like balloons and streamers andconfetti and stuff, and it's
like, okay, that's, that'sthat's interesting.
But then cut to Dick.

(01:02:33):
He gets a hold of the Rangersat the Ranger station and he's
like hey, like this is DickHalloran from the overlook.
I just was trying to check inon the family that's staying
there, but the phone lines aredown.
Could you like check on themfor me?
And they're like oh, yeah,we'll try them on the radio.
And he's like Okay, like I'llcall back in a few minutes.

(01:02:54):
Cut back to Jack going into thegold ballroom and this time it
is full of people and they'reall dressed like it's the 1920s
and this is where the big bandmusic was coming from, and I
forget it might be.
It's either like Benny Goodman, like Glenn Miller I don't know
if it's one of their two songs, but it's like that type of vibe

(01:03:18):
For sure.
He heads to the bar, getsanother bourbon and, you know,
goes to pay and the Lloyd's likeno, like your money's no good
here, like orders of the house, and he's like, oh, okay, you
know.
And so he gets up to go to thebathroom and he's kind of like
dancing and being silly.
And waiter comes and but he haslike a, you know, a tray full

(01:03:42):
of drinks, goes to get out ofthe way of some ladies that are
coming and runs into Jack andspills all over him and he's
like oh, so sorry, sir.
And he's like oh, no, worries.
Like, he's like well, like it's, it's avocado, so, and it tends
to stain, so let's go to thebathroom and all you know, make
sure it doesn't stain on you.

(01:04:02):
And he's like, oh, okay.
But one funny thing that youknow it took me a few watches to
notice is that he's like, oh,looks like you got some on on
yourself there too.
And then he like wipes his handon the back of the waiter.
And so they head into thebathroom and he's asked any
assom like, hey, like, so what'syour name?

(01:04:22):
And he says, oh, my name's aDobert Grady.
And then Jack's like Hmm, thatsounds familiar, you know, and
it should sound familiar becauseit's this is the caretaker that
went crazy and killed hisfamily.
But another interestinginconsistency is that when we

(01:04:44):
hear the story, first, in thebeginning, they use the name
Charles Grady and also the factthat that incident, according to
Mr Ollman, took place in 1970.
But everyone here is dressedlike it's the 1920s and has like
the accents and acts like it'sthe 1920s.

(01:05:07):
So just very interesting.
But I mean a little more onthat and I'll have like a theory
on that later.
So he talks to him.
He's like, hey, like, are youDelbert Grady?
You got, you got family or what.
And he's kind of trying to, youknow, scope it out without
coming right out with what hethinks.
And he's like oh, yeah, I gottwo daughters and stuff like

(01:05:30):
that.
And he's like you're the, youwere the care, like I read about
you, you were the caretakerhere and you killed your family.
And he's like no, you're thecaretaker here, you've always
been the caretaker.
And I should know because I'vealways been here and and then so
it kind of gets some more.

(01:05:51):
And now his demeanors changedtoo and he's just like super
straightforward and he's likeit's like did you know that your
son is attempting to bring aoutside party into the situation
?
And you know he's basicallyhe's telling him that you know
his son's bringing DeKaloran upthere.

(01:06:12):
I mean, he says he's justbringing an N word and which I
mean I know, I know for a factthat that is something that was
came from Stephen King, I'm sure, and not from Stanley Kubrick,
but I don't know.
And Stephen King puts that wordin his books a lot and yes,

(01:06:38):
they were written at a differenttime.
And I think in his mind he'sdoing it as like oh, to show
that these are bad people thatare using that word.
But I think, when you which Ithink is a you know, logically
better than the way Tarantinouses it and pulp fiction, but I,

(01:07:05):
you know, if you look at me onthe on the YouTube, I'm not the
authority on what's incorrect orcorrect use of that word, but
you know, in my opinion, I think, I think that even though

(01:07:25):
Stephen King thinks that he'susing it for a specific purpose
to show that someone is a badperson.
I think it's still come.
It comes off very weird, especially than some of the
books.
It's like okay, like, come on,man, like you really need to use
it that many times, like, maybelike one time, but maybe even

(01:07:49):
not then.
But I don't know, it's, it's,it's a whole thing, but it's
just, it's very uncomfortable alot of the times, like the way
it's used or the frequency thatit's used.
But you know, it's very I'msure in the movie it's used a
lot less than it is in theactual book.

(01:08:11):
But I, that being said, Ihaven't read the Shining yet.
That's.
I plan on getting to that onenext.
But yeah, so so Grady warns himthat he's trying to bring a
howler in there and he's like,oh, like your son's a very
naughty boy.
Like you know, my daughters, like, were like that once too.

(01:08:35):
So I corrected them.
And then, when my wife didn'tlike that and tried to get in
the way, I corrected her as well.
And so then, basically, likeyou know what you got to do, you
got to kill your family.
So we cut to Wendy back in theroom.
She's like contemplating outloud, like it's okay, like I'll

(01:08:58):
just get, I'll get Danny, we'llget the snow cat and we'll head
down the mountain, and if Jackdoesn't want to go, then we'll
just have to tell him like thenwe're just going to go, without
you, you know, and you knowshe's very like on the verge of
hysterics and she's crying andlike her voice is all shaky.

(01:09:18):
She's got, you know, she'ssmoking, she's got just got a
lot on her mind, obviously.
And as she's like pacing backand forth, you know, trying to
figure this out with herself, then we hear from the other room
Danny is starting to likerepeat, is like red rum, red rum
, red rum, you know.
And so she's like, oh my God,like what's going on?

(01:09:40):
She goes in there and then, buthe's just like in this trance
and he like won't stop saying itand he just keeps going and
going and she's trying to likesnap him out of it, and then he
finally stops and then he justkind of like looks at her and he
says Danny's not here, mrsTorrance, and so you know she's
obviously a little freaked outabout that.

(01:10:01):
We see Jack head to Oman'soffice and then we can hear the
Rangers are trying to get a holdof them on the radio and he
just unscrews the back and popsthe top off the radio and pulls
out some fuses I think that'swhat they are.
Just, you know three thingsthat just snapped in there so

(01:10:25):
pulls those out and kind ofrattles them like dice and puts
them in his pocket and leavesyou know, so sabotage the radio
so that way she can't contactanybody.
And we cut to a Halloran.
He's talking to the Rangersagain.
He called him back and he'slike yeah, like we tried them,
but they're either have theradio off or they're somewhere

(01:10:46):
where they can't hear it.
But I'll keep trying themthroughout the night.
And he's like Okay, that'll,you know, thank you for that,
I'll call, call in a few hoursor something like that.
But then it cuts to 8am.
So now we've gone from days tothe hour and we see it's a I

(01:11:11):
forgot what flight it is.
It might be a continental butit's a tower.
And he's on a flight going toDenver.
Because he talks to astewardess or flight attendant.
It says you know when will webe landing in Denver?
She says, oh, about 820.
And he's like okay, thank you.
So he's on his way to like getinvolved, since he can't get in

(01:11:33):
contact with them.
We get another short shot ofJack typing, again, this is this
one from behind.
And we get another, you know, zoom out and then cut back to
the Denver airport.
We see the plane touching downon the snow.
See Halloran call his friendLarry, that works at a garage in

(01:11:56):
the area and he's like hey, like I was.
Like, hey, dick, like how's itgoing?
Like how's the weather downthere?
Like actually I'm in Denver.
He's like oh, what are youdoing here?
He's like well, to tell you thetruth, I got to get up to the
overlook and because the peopletaking care of it turned out to
be unreliable, he's likecompletely unreliable, assholes
is what he says.

(01:12:16):
And he's like so I'm going torent a car and head to you.
And then, oh, he asked him likewhat the roads are like, and
he's like, oh, it's.
You know, snow is pretty badand all the roads are closed.
He's like, oh, okay, I'm goingto have to borrow your snow.
No cat then is like I'll be toyou in five hours.
I got to get a rental car andall that.

(01:12:37):
We see him driving and we canhear like on the radio, a little
bit like some of the news aboutthe weather and everything, how
it's like this big blizzard andwe see a semi truck that's
flipped and it has like a like asmall VW, like pinned like

(01:12:57):
between the trailer and the cab,but like it doesn't look too
smashed but it's still like it'sa pretty gnarly accident
because he got the trailer onits side and the cabs like
upside down and so, likeweather's pretty crazy, he's got
to be driving pretty slow.
Wendy and Danny are watchingcartoons.

(01:13:18):
They're watching Road Runner upin the room.
Danny's still out of it and,you know, in Tony mode still.
And so she tells him like hey, like I'm going to go talk to
your dad for a little bit, butI'm going to lock the door and
so just stay in here andeverything's going to be fine.
But we see in the backgroundthat she grabs the baseball bat

(01:13:42):
before she heads downstairs.
So she goes into the big like acommon area where he's usually
typing and she's like callinglike Jack, you in here, you know
and she goes up to thetypewriter which has changed
colors, by the way, another oneof those like weird
inconsistencies and she goes tothe typewriter and then notices

(01:14:02):
like that, you know, looks atthe page that he's typing and
notices that it's the samephrase over and over and over
again and it's just all work andno play makes Jack a dull boy.
You know, over and over, youknow, and with some like
variations.
You know there's some likemisspellings and there's some

(01:14:22):
variations on like the spacing.
And then she goes to like lookat the stack of papers that are
already typed and it's the samething, but like he'll just
change up the like layout of thepage and everything, and it's
just still all the same phrase.
All work and no play makes Jacka dull boy, like over and over
and over again.
And so she's like flippingthrough, and then she's like

(01:14:43):
obviously like getting like moreconcerned the more she's like
reading it and everything.
And then cut to the camera, panning into the room, you know,
from behind a pillar, and thenwe see that Jack is standing
there watching her look at this, and then he like breaks the
tension with like how do youlike it?
And then she screams and grabsthe bat and turns around like

(01:15:05):
real quick, and he's like, oh,how can I help you?
You know, he's like he's beinglike real menacing but like very
calm at the same time, and he's, she's like oh, like, I just
wanted to talk, like, and he'slike oh, I'm here, what do you
want to talk about, you know?
And she's like oh, I forgot, you know, because she's like

(01:15:26):
very scared at this point andit's like you forgot, could it
be about Danny?
Is that what you wanted to talkabout?
You know that type of tone andeverything.
And then she's like yeah, like Iwant to talk about Danny, like
what about Danny?
Like what should be done withhim, like you want to talk about
what should be done with Danny.

(01:15:46):
And then like what do you think?
And it's like I think we shouldlike take, I think we should
take him to a hospital.
So now he starts to get alittle more like aggressive with
his like tone towards her andhe's like when should we take
him to a hospital?
And then she's like as soon aspossible.
And he like mocks her, like assoon as possible and stuff like

(01:16:10):
that.
And then you know she's kind oflike backing out of the room,
like towards the stairs, andhe's just like slowly following
her and everything.
She has the bat in her hand andyou know she starts backing up
the stairs and he's getting justmore aggressive and everything.
And he's like Wendy, like putthe bat down, I'm not going to

(01:16:32):
hurt you.
And she's like, but now she'slike getting more scared and
she's kind of like swinging athim a little bit and it's like
honey, you didn't let me finish,I'm not going to hurt you, I'm
just going to bash your brains.
In Just got to bash them, right, the fucking.
And you know, and he's like, give me the bat, honey.
He's like Wendy, you know, andhe's like, you know, being like

(01:16:54):
real, uh, like hammy, and likegoofy, but like still scary and
like.
This is what makes me thinkthat like no one could do this
like as good as, uh, jackNicholson, because he's just so
perfect at being like alreadyscary and intense, like at his
baseline, and but yeah, and he'sjust like he's being like so

(01:17:19):
funny but so scary at the sametime.
Uh, it's so hard to like put itinto words, but yeah, then he
like he tries to like grab thebat and she like hits him on the
hand and he like goes to likegrab it, like, and then she like
hits him on the head and thenhe like falls back down the
stairs and like tumbles down andeverything.
And that like kind of likeknocks him out or puts him out

(01:17:41):
of it, at least likeincapacitates him and she drags
him to the, uh, the pantry thatyou know locks and everything,
and she's just like dragging himby his feet and he's like all
disoriented and everything.
He's like trying to like grabstuff, but he like doesn't have
like the strength really and uh,she like struggles way too long

(01:18:03):
with the uh the lock or youknow, cause there's like a pin
inside the the door for thepantry and she's just like
trying to like open it and thenrealizes, oh, I gotta take the
pin out and you know uh, anddrags him in there.
And then he like starts to cometo a little bit and goes to like
get up and grab the door beforeshe can close it.

(01:18:27):
But uh, his, uh, he had, youknow, twisted his ankle when he
fell down the stairs and youknow kind of like stumbles and
falls into boxes of, uh, riceKrispies.
But she gets the door closedand gets it locked and
everything, and he startstalking to her and he's like, oh
, wendy, like I'm hurt real bad,you know, trying to like, you

(01:18:47):
know, get her to sympathize withthem or whatever.
And she, but you know she's notfalling for it.
She grabs a knife uh, one ofthe kitchen knives is like one
of the really long ones, uh tojust to arm herself.
Now she's like really upset andcrying, obviously, you know,
for good reason.
She's saying like I'm going toget Danny and the snow cat and

(01:19:08):
we're going to go down themountain, you know, and get help
, and then we'll come back foryou.
And then he starts laughing.
He's like oh, you got a bigsurprise coming for you.
Why don't you go check the snowcat and the radio?
And then he's just startslaughing.
But I love this uh camera angleof him, uh, because he's like up

(01:19:29):
against the door talking to herand but the camera is from like
directly below and it's like asuper cool shot.
And then, I don't know why, Idon't think there's any
significance to it.
It's just maybe just the thingthat these types of doors have.
But the door knobs like reallylong and I've always just like
noticed that, like since thefirst time I watched it, and

(01:19:50):
always just thought that was,you know, interesting.
But it uh, it all like workslike for for this shot and adds
to the uh, the mise en scène.
So then we get the uh four PMinfo card and we see uh Jack
waking up from, you know, hewent to sleep inside the uh like
on a pile of uh produce.

(01:20:12):
And uh, there's a knock on thedoor and it's Grady, like
talking to him through the doorand it's like, hey, like some of
us are thinking that maybe yourhead's not in this and that you
can't, you're not the one tocarry, carry this out.
And he's like, no, like, comeon, like I'll uh, if you let me
out of here, I'll, uh, I'll doit, right, you know.

(01:20:33):
And um, so this is, I think, the one concrete evidence that
there is something supernatural, because how else could the door
open without some kind ofsupernatural interference or
intervention?
Um, cause, he does get out ofthere Like Grady does open the

(01:20:57):
door for him and Grady issupposed to be dead.
Then we cut to Dick.
He's in the uh snow cat andhe's like heading up the road,
he's on his way, he's coming andyou know, slowly but surely, uh
.
Then we cut to Danny and he'sup walking around the room and
Wendy's asleep in the bed andDanny's like, uh, just walking

(01:21:19):
around the room, slowly going tored, um, but like real raspy.
Now, this I can do with my sickvoice.
He just keeps repeating it.
And, uh, he goes over to thetable, he picks up the kitchen
knife and kind of like runs hisfinger on the blade Um, you
don't really see if his likefinger like bleeds or whatever,
but apparently it's not.

(01:21:39):
But then he he's not satisfiedwith the results, I guess,
because then he walks over tothe vanity and picks up, uh,
wendy's lipstick, but he stillhas that knife in his hand and
he's still the entire timesstill doing the red um, red um,
you know, and that same cadenceand everything.
And then heads over to the uhdoor and starts writing red rum.

(01:22:04):
The second R is backwards, I'mpretty sure, and maybe the E um,
but it just says red rum andlips lipstick on the white door.
And then, after he's donewriting it, he still has like
the lipstick and the knife andthen he starts saying it like a
little blotter red rum, red rum,red rum.
And then now it's starting tobecome his own like regular

(01:22:26):
speaking voice again and he'sjust yelling it.
And then this wakes up, wendy, finally, and which as a parent
I'm thinking you would havewoken up a lot sooner.
But you gotta also think thatshe's going on like way less
sleep and way more trauma andstress than the average parent.

(01:22:46):
But yeah, she wakes up, youknow, like, is like oh my God,
like why do you have a knife?
Like takes the knife out of hishand and everything and hugs
him like Danny, like it's okay,it's okay, like stop, and uh.
Then, like, as she's hugginghim, real light, like looks in
the mirror and sees the red rumwhich in the mirror spells
murder, and then screams.

(01:23:09):
And as she screams, then oh,here comes Jack with an axe and
starts uh, you know, choppinginto the door and so screams.
They get up and uh, grab theknife and run into the bathroom
and lock that door and he's justlike chopping and chopping away
at the at the door.
So one of the key inspirationsfor this scene was a silent film

(01:23:33):
called the phantom carriage andsilent horror film.
Uh, I think Sweden is whereit's from.
Uh, I, that's one that I onlysaw uh recently, but always knew
that it was um the inspirationfor this scene.
Uh, great movie, though Ishould have had the criteria now
with me so I could show it.

(01:23:54):
But whatever, just trust that Iown it.
But yeah, he's chopping at thedoor.
Uh, wendy and Danny are in thebathroom.
She gets the bathroom windowopen and luckily there's a snow
bank that is about the height oftheir like you know.
Fourth, fifth story window getsDanny out, or trying to get
Danny out the window to um toslide down there.

(01:24:15):
We'll get both of them out thewindow, hopefully.
But then uh, jack gets throughthe uh, the first door, like to
the, the main room, and uh likegoes up to the like hole that he
chopped in and he says, wendy,I'm home, you know just all you
know like it's a sitcom orsomething.
And uh, gets that door open.

(01:24:37):
Uh, she gets Danny out thewindow but she can't fit through
.
Jack slowly meanders over to theuh bathroom door that she is
behind and he's like knocks onit like all soft and he's like
little pig, little pig, let mecome in.
And apparently he uh ad libs alot of this stuff, cause Kubrick
just wanted him to just gocrazy, you know, and you know be

(01:25:00):
be crazy and Jack Nicholson isjust great at this and so a lot
of this stuff was ad libs.
But he's like little pig, little pig, let me come in.
And he's like not by the hairon my chinny chin, chin then all
huff and all puff and all blowyour house in.
And then he starts chopping atthat door and it's just cutting
back between, like this, likecrazy rack focus, uh, shots of

(01:25:26):
him chopping up the door fromthe outside to inside the
bathroom where we see her likescreaming in the corner and like
just amazing, and you can seelike the wood like splitting and
the acts coming through andeverything like that.
And uh, she's just like Jack,no, you know, just screaming and

(01:25:47):
everything.
And then probably the mosticonic scene from the entire
movie is he puts his head in the.
He finally gets one of thepanels like chopped through and
he puts his head through thelike hole and says here's Johnny
.
You know it's a reference tothe uh, the old tonight show,

(01:26:08):
old old tonight show.
At this point, uh, when he'slike reaching his hand through
to get the door knob, she slicesthe back of his hand, which
always like makes my hand hurt, but uh, and he, you know,
retracts that and everything andhe's like holding his hand from
bleeding.
And then, at this point, whenthey all calm down for a sec, uh

(01:26:31):
, they hear the uh snow catoutside, cause, you know, dick
Halleran's coming, and so theyall stop and kind of listen,
like okay, like someone's here, you know, and then a Jack kind
of wanders off and then Wendykind of, like you know, calms
down and collects herself in thebathroom.

(01:26:52):
But one another weirdinconsistency that, uh, that
I've always noticed but Ihaven't seen pointed out too
often, is that, uh, he'schopping at the door and he's
focusing on this one panel thathe gets out.
But after the you know, thesnow cats coming and we see,

(01:27:14):
like, uh, uh reverse shot of thedoor, we noticed that the other
panel in the door is missing, but it's like a clean cut versus
like the chopped cut of theother panel.
So I don't know if that wasjust a mistake or what, but you
could also see it, uh, from inthe bathroom on those later

(01:27:36):
shots.
But we see Danny runningthrough, uh, the kitchen to find
a hiding spot because you, youknow he went out the snow bank
and then back into the hotelbecause you know why are you
going to go hide in the snowwhere it's probably below
freezing, um, and so he hides inone of the uh metal cabinets in

(01:27:58):
the kitchen and makes as muchnoise as possible.
For some reason, one of theonly times I'm like Danny come
on.
I mean otherwise he's likepretty smart for a lot of this
movie, but that's like the onetime where I'm like, all right,
maybe you should do that quieteror not hide in the noisiest
cabinet possible.
But we see a dick go into thehotel and then he's walking

(01:28:20):
through the lobby and everything.
He's like hello, anybody here?
And he's just like slowlywalking through and uh, really
good at like tension buildingbecause you know something's
going to happen, but you don'tknow what, and there's no like
score or anything in this part, and he's just like walking.
And then he gets to a certainpoint and then you hear then

(01:28:40):
Jack comes around the corner, buries an axe right in his chest
and uh, very reminiscent of thescene in Fargo that we just
covered.
Um, so that's the second uhchest axe uh for this month.
Dick screams, danny screamsbecause of their con, their
shining connection, and uh, jackkind of gets up with the axe

(01:29:05):
and then like has this smile, like okay, now I know where
Danny's at, and he kind of likelooks towards the kitchen and
then Danny gets out and he seeshim get out of the cabinet and
run down the hallway and hestarts chasing after him.
But luckily Jack has his legsinjured so he's limping as he's
doing this and he's chasingafter him.

(01:29:26):
We see Wendy has now left thebathroom and is like going to
look for Danny and alsosomeplace safe to hide, probably
to.
Um, she's walking around thehotel all frazzled and then but
she can hear these like weirdchants that are happening, like
uh, but uh, you can't reallymake out what they're saying.
Um, maybe someone has before, but I don't know.

(01:29:48):
But there's this like ominouschanting and she kind of like
clocks it and notices and then, like slowly goes up the stairs,
she comes around a corner andshe looks into an open, uh open
room and that we see a uh guy ina bear costume, but we only see

(01:30:10):
like the back of it, thebackside of it.
It has like one of those buttflaps which is open.
So we see like some dude's asssticking out of this bear suit
and then the bear like sits up,the bears on his knees, in front
of the bed and then the bearsits up and looks and then we
see that there is a man that wassitting on the edge of the bed

(01:30:33):
who also sits up.
So this guy in a bear costumeis blowing some 1920s dude and
there's no explanation for it,nothing other than like when
DC's it.
And there we get the zoom, thequick zoom, and she screams and
runs away.
And they're just like what?
Uh yeah, just one of those likecrazy scenes, that with no

(01:30:59):
explanation.
And I'm kind of glad there isno explanation because it's just
so funny.
You see Danny run outside, um uh, jack Comes up to the door,
realizes that Danny went outside, decides to turn the lights on
because there's like a power boxinside, and he turns the lights
on for the maze.
So, so those lights come on.

(01:31:22):
Danny runs out into the maze, jack follows way behind because
he's still limping.
And now there, you know, we geta couple shots of our steady
cam shots of Danny runningthrough the maze and Jack
following, cut back in on thehotel with Wendy.
She comes across Dick's bodyyou know she's freaked out by

(01:31:45):
that turns around, goes theother way, runs into like a
butler or waiter or somethingyou know, dressed in the tuxedo,
with a you know Split head, like literally a split head,
with like blood coming down, andhe, like cheers is her and says
a great party, isn't it?
And then, you know, screams, runs the other way, comes into a

(01:32:08):
room with like, goes into thelobby and there's like just a
bunch of like skeletons andcobwebs, which is, you know, one
of the weaker scares, I guess.
But you know, whatever, I thinkit's cool.
Then Cut back into the maze.
Danny's running through thesnow and then stops, realizes

(01:32:28):
that he's making footprints inthe snow and is like, has the
genius idea to backtrack hisfootprints and so, you like,
walks backwards through like thefootprints he already made and
then jumps off to the side afterhe gets back, like a few and

(01:32:48):
and hides behind a hedge, butthen, like covers those tracks,
so that way the footprints justgo and go to a certain Position
and then stop, you know, andthen there's no more footprints.
Cut back to Wendy.
She comes around a corner andthen we see the iconic blood

(01:33:09):
flood of all the blood pouringout of the elevator and
everything.
You know that freaks her out.
Cut back into the maze and wesee Jack come to the end of the
tracks and he's, like lookingaround and like Danny, you know,
like, and he's all confused andeverything and just kind of,
just picks a direction and justkeeps going, you know.

(01:33:31):
And then once Danny's, like youknow, behind the other hedge,
like listening, and you knowhe's all freaked out, once the
coast is clear he gets back outof the you know, from his hiding
spot and follows his own tracksBackwards out out of the maze.
So genius, like absolutelygenius.
I don't think I, I don't thinkI would have been that smart as

(01:33:52):
a kid, but luckily my dad neverwent crazy and tried to kill,
you know, me and my family at ahotel.
So, like I said, he follows histracks out of the maze, gets
out of there.
Wendy is outside, she sees himcoming out of the maze.
She's like like Danny, likethrows the knife down into the
snow, which I think she could, should have held on to it

(01:34:14):
because who knows at this pointand but they're reunited, they
hug, they embrace, they get inthe snow cat.
We see Jack inside the maze, like still looking for Danny and
still yelling like Danny.
But you know we could hear fromhis voice that he's getting
more and more tired andExhausted and running out of

(01:34:34):
steam.
We hear the snow cat power upand he so does he.
And then now he's like freakingout like daddy, you know, and
now it's like it's not even likeclear what he's saying at this
point.
Now he's just like screaming, like you know.
And when we see the snow catpull away and you see him like

(01:34:58):
kind of struggle a little bit toget out of the maze and then
hard cut to Jack Torrance's deadfrozen body sitting in the snow
and Then the music comes backin like the big band 1920s music
and we're getting just thislike very slow zoom down the

(01:35:21):
hallway at this like group ofpictures on the wall in the
hotel and Finally get to thisone and it says 4th of July ball
overlook hotel of July 4th 1921.
And we slow zoom into thatpicture and then right front and
center in this big group of1920s partygoers, is Jack

(01:35:45):
Torrance right there in themiddle, and there we go.
Like that that's the shot weend on.
Is Jack, you know, you'vealways been here, is what Grady
said to him.
So there we go.
That's the end of the movie.
Yeah, great, great movie.
I love it so much.

(01:36:07):
I mean a lot of.
It is just like weirdsupernatural stuff of like you
kind of just if you try to putlogic to it and it's just,
you're gonna hurt your brain.
I think you could just acceptthat there is always this Maybe
it's like the same soul, likemoving from person to person,
you know what I mean.

(01:36:27):
And then like as, because maybewhen Grady killed his family it
was his picture on the wall inthere, or you know.
So is it like, is it the sameentity, different body, or is it
, you know, is it just alwayschange, or has it just always

(01:36:47):
been that like if that was justhis destiny to go to that hotel,
try to kill his family, failand be a picture on the wall?
You know, but in the end itdoesn't really matter.
You know Lincoln Park.
I think it's just a good movie.
I think good movies Challengeyour understanding.

(01:37:08):
They don't have to have all theanswers.
I think I prefer when there arethings unanswered.
I think some lot of my favoritemovies leave a lot of stuff
unanswered.
Now, not everything, you know.
Sometimes it is nice to justget like a closure on something
and I think this movie does haveclosure.

(01:37:30):
It's just not answering everysingle mystery.
You know it leaves a lot ofunanswered questions and you
don't have to have an answer toeverything.
But yeah, it's, it's just so,so mesmerizing and I know that
there was like a differentalternate ending not even an
alternate ending like theoriginal ending was Only shown

(01:37:56):
in theaters for, I think, twoweeks and it was.
So.
We see, you know, jack frozen, cut to a hospital where Mr
Ollman is there and and visitingwith Wendy and Danny, just like

(01:38:16):
making sure they're okay andeverything like that.
You know you get someexposition about that.
Jack's body was never found andstuff like that, and Ollman
hands Danny the tennis ball, theone that Jack was throwing
around, and everything.
So it is just like one of thoseMystery things of like, oh like

(01:38:40):
, did Ollman know?
Is he part of it?
You know one of those things.
It's just like Can of wormsthat ultimately Stanley Kubrick
felt was unnecessary and cut itout and destroyed, I think, most
of the prints, but obviouslysome have to exist, because I
have seen like at least screengrabs of One of these pieces or

(01:39:06):
one of these scenes.
So it it exists somewhere, justnot Available to us.
You know what I mean.
But yeah, I think it, I thinkthe ending works the way it does
.
I mean it's.
Would that have been a coolending?
Yeah, I don't think I didn'thave a problem with it and I
don't have a problem with theway it ends.
Now I love this movie so muchand I hope you guys do too.
