José Ochoa is an award-winning Mexican-American serial entrepreneur, engineer, and business innovation evangelist who has started multiple successful businesses throughout the United States and Mexico. He is the Co-Founder and CEO of Global Containers & Custom Packaging, Inc., a logistics and packaging company specializing in packaging design, build, and distribution; quality inspection services, on-site service; inventory control; and cost reduction projects. José holds a degree in Engineering from the Instituto Tecnologico de Chihuahua as well as a degree in Scaling Business Ventures and Business Administration, Management, and Operations from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He is also the founder and Practice Lead of Reikoku Consulting, the author of "Get In The Ring: An Entrepreneur’s Guide for The F*****G Real World," and currently serves as a volunteer on the Leadership Team at Singularity University.
José joins me today to share his humble beginnings as a young Latino entrepreneur in Mexico selling door-to-door fresh fruits and the lessons he has learned about sales and entrepreneurship through that experience. We discuss why it’s crucial for entrepreneurs and CEOs to hone their salesmanship skills and how you can improve your skills even if sales do not come naturally to you. We discuss how being a duel-citizen in the U.S. and Mexico has helped José grow his business into an international organization. We also discuss why José believes failure is an incredible asset to help you learn, improve, and evolve, his writing process, and his efforts in keeping his business operations lean and agile.
“Success is great – and it’s necessary – but it is as necessary as failure” - José Ochoa
