Dayna Steele is a Superstar DJ, Alzheimer’s advocate, author, and actor/playwright. She has written multiple books, including Rock to the Top, the 101 Ways to Rock series, and Surviving Alzheimer’s, which chronicles her mother’s journey with the disease. Most recently, Surviving Alzheimer’s has been adapted into the critically-acclaimed play, The Woman in the Mirror. Dayna is a member of the Texas Rock Radio Hall of Fame, a former U.S. Congressional candidate, and the host and producer of Dayna Steele’s Rock Stars Principles Podcast, where she featured special guests to share powerful stories of life’s biggest lessons, overcoming obstacles, and achieving success.

Dayna joins me today to share her journey of becoming a female radio DJ in a predominantly male-dominated industry and the alter-ego she developed as her radio persona. We discuss how her mother influenced the way she interacts with the world around her and the lessons she has learned from rock legends. We discuss how Dayna met her husband, NASA pilot Charlie Justiz, and became ensconced in the NASA community. She explains how she learned how to create a safe online shopping cart by studying the porn industry and how she identifies new opportunities by being a voracious reader. We discuss her experience while running for the U.S. Congressional office as a Democrat in Texas and the impact it had on her speaking career. We discuss her most recent book, Surviving Alzheimer’s, what inspired her to turn the book into a play, and how – despite the odds – she turned the experience into an exciting new opportunity.

“Nothing prepares you for what’s coming with Alzheimer’s.”
