This episode of Mr. and Mrs. CEO was supposed to be about navigating conflict in relationships and having difficult conversations. Yet things took a turn, and this became an example of a real-time communication challenge.During Kim’s time as a social worker, she was surrounded by families in conflict and worked with other community stakeholders. Everyone was trying to reach the same outcome, but had different ways of doing things. This taught her to be comfortable in conflict, and how to gather more information to try to resolve them. Unfortunately, this can come off as too much or even overbearing at times. It also didn’t go well with Darren’s avoidant style.The measure of the health of relationships is how well you move through conflict, not the absence of conflict. -KimToday we’ll hear how Darren and Kim go through a disconnect in their conversation and see how they still try to communicate better. Because even after decades, we can still learn how to communicate better. So, keep on asking questions. Give the other person space to process it how they need to. Come back to each other.
