Speaker 1 (00:00):
So I want to talk about something that all of us
need to do and that's rest.
Welcome back, it's Saturday,faith Fuel.
I hope you're having an awesomeSaturday and just let's lock in
really quickly.
This is Genesis 2 and I'm goingto read from verses 1 and 2,
and it says Thus the heavens andthe earth were finished, and

(00:20):
all the host of them, and on theseventh day God finished his
work that he had done and herested.
On seventh day.
God finished his work that hehad done and he rested on the
seventh day from all his workthat he had done.
So God blessed the seventh dayand made it holy because he
rested from all that work.
Now I'm not here to talk aboutwhich day is the seventh day,
because I know that there arewhole religions and
denominations that have decidedthat either it's Saturday or

(00:44):
it's Sunday or whatever.
It is right.
I'm not here to talk aboutwhich day it is that you rest,
but what's important that weagree on is that even God rested
.
And I'm all for being umsuccessful.
I'm all for us doing the things, being the boss.
I'm all for us being um youknow, going after the assignment
.
I'm all for us being you know, going after the assignment.

(01:05):
I'm all for all of that, butI'm here to just kindly remind
all of us, including myself, that even God rested, and so we
need to make sure that we'retaking that time to rest.
And rest could be just assimply as like, for example,
usually for me.
I have a discipline where Iwake up early on Saturday so I
can record a study and thenrecord Faith Fuel.

(01:28):
But I was taking a rest thismorning and so I wasn't rushing
to do it.
In that time, in that period ofrest, I was being refreshed and
renewed, and I plan to spendthe rest of my day just resting.
When you're resting, it doesn'tnecessarily mean that you don't
do anything, right, because, hey, family still got to eat, I

(01:51):
still got to do some chores, allthe things.
But even resting from some ofthe things that we've been
carrying in our hearts and ourminds, some of the burdens, if
you will, of the week For thoseof y'all who are overthinkers
like me sometimes I find myselfoverthinking that we start to
kind of run the play and wedon't let the week go because

(02:13):
we're thinking that we need arest in our minds, we need a
rest from the thoughts.
Some of us need a rest from theactions.
Some of us need rest fromsocial media.
Some of us need rest from thenews.
Some of us need rest fromsocial media.
Some of us need rest from thenews.
Whatever it is, you need torest.
I really I hope this reaches youin a way that's encouraging to
you.

(02:33):
Again, it's something that Ifind that I need.
We all need to rest andrecharge and we're not meant to
just keep going and burn outy'all okay, the things that all
the things that you believe thatthe lord has given you, all the
things you know that you thinkyou're supposed to accomplish,
all of those things.
You know we can do these things, but we still need to take a

(02:55):
break, we still need to rest.
So I hope this is going toencourage you to just slow down
just a little bit.
Even this 30 minutes foryourself, um, today, you know,
set some time apart for yourself, by yourself, and just rest and
allow yourself to just, youknow, to just be at peace, right
?
No overthinking, nooverscheduling.

(03:17):
You know, give yourself sometime and just rest.
So, lord, I'm asking for all ofus, under the sound of my voice
, who are seeking out a periodof rest right now, from all of
our worries and cares.
I know, lord, god, that even aswe dedicate the time of rest
with you, even if it's 30minutes, lord, that you'll meet
us in that time and just restoreour minds, bring peace into our

(03:40):
minds, even regulating ourthoughts.
Oh, god, and just meeting us inthat moment, thank you for
reminding us that you know, asyou are our Father, god, as you
created the heavens and theearth, you rested from that work
, and so I thank you forreminding us that we too need a
moment to just rest.
Thank you, lord, god, that allthings are still working

(04:02):
together for our good, and webless your name and we thank you
, lord, for everything.
Amen.
Listen, I hope this is reachingyou on an awesome Saturday.
I'm about to go back to get myrest on.
All right, love y'all.
Jesus loves you more.
Take care Bye.
