I hate to say it, I thinkhaven't.
(03:17):
Hasn't we grown out of thePunisher?
I don't think the Punisher'sapt in our world anymore.
You know, let's let thePunisher.
I don't think the Punisher'sapt in our world anymore.

anticipated the Batman sequel.
Writer-director Matt Reevesshared a photo of the complete
script on Friday.
After several delays.
Variety confirmed the scriptwas finished.
Partners in Crime Reeves wroteon Instagram with co-writer Matt
(06:42):
Madison Tomlin.
The first page of the script isblurred out, but there is very
clearly a Batman logo on top.
It's been a long time for anupdate on the Batman Part 2,
which was originally announcedin April 2022, a month after the
original Robert Pattinsonblockbuster soared in the
theaters.
After several delays, thesequel is now scheduled for
(07:04):
October 1st 2027, five and ahalf years after the original
made more than $772 million atthe global box office.
You know, and that's not a goodsign If I was Warner Bros
Discovery in DC, I would put theoriginal Batman back into
theaters, say next year, just torefresh people's memories.
(07:28):
And then, because five yearsbetween sequels is going to just
obliterate anyone's memory ofwhat the previous movie was.
Anyway, we have no Star Trek orStar Wars news today.
Just obliterate anyone's memoryof what the previous movie was.
Anyway, we have no Star Trek orStar Wars news today.
So let's go on to the geek newsand that interview with VV
(07:52):
Collectibles' Dan Carruthers andit's interview time here in
multiverse tonight.
And today we have a specialinterview.
(08:14):
We have dan crothers from vvcollectibles here to talk about
a new line of collectibles, soDan, take it away.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Thank you so much for
having me, Thomas.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Really excited to be
here and have a chat with you
about all things collectiblesand comics.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
So what new things do
you have for us?
I mean, we are always releasingnew collectibles pretty much
every week.
Um, you know, over the years,um, since we started in 2017,
we've managed to sign up many, many different brands and ips
across many different fandoms.
I think it's sitting at 200plus now.
Um, and you know, recentlywe've done, um we, obviously we
(08:56):
had star wars months last month,my favorite month of the year
and we released a lot of reallycool Star Wars collectibles,
from the Star Wars helmets tostormtroopers, pod races so it's
been really, really funactually.
And then that changes.
We change gear completely as wemoved into this month, and we
(09:22):
just dropped some reallybeautifully detailed Maserati
vehicles from the Maserati line.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Oh, that's cool.
Now these are all digitalcollectibles, correct?
Speaker 2 (09:29):
That is correct.
Yes, the digital collectibles.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
So what's so special
about these?
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Well, the way I see
it is that I mean, as you can
tell, like you behind me is, youknow I collect a ton of stuff
and you know, like I found thatyou know a lot of my collector
friends.
You know, if you really love afandom, you're collecting
everything, from the posters, the duvet, the mug, the physical
collectible.
(09:58):
And now you know, digitalcollectible is a new offering in
the space.
You know, over the past coupleof decades we've seen so many
industries move into the digitalspace.
You know you're reading, education, watching TVs and
movies.
Everything has kind of moveddigital and you know
collectibles is now enteringthat space as well.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Well, that's great.
Now, what's special about yourcollectibles versus another
company's?
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Yeah, I mean to be
honest, there's probably not
much to competition in our fieldat the moment.
It's still a very new field, but I would say, really, you
know, the biggest difference isthat when myself and my business
partner started the company,we're both massive collectors.
He's an even bigger collectorthan I am.
(10:49):
I like to call him a level9,000 collector for any Dragon
fans out there, and really it'syou know.
So our collectibles are allbeautiful 3D models.
So I mean you guys will see thecollectibles I've got behind me
here.
Before those collectibles go tophysical production.
They're actually all sculpted in3D, beautifully detailed, and
(11:11):
our process is very similar.
So we basically take the 3Dcollectible or we build the 3D
collectible from scratch.
We build the 3D collectible fromscratch, but then, rather than
sending it off to a factory tobe turned into a physical toy or
collectible, we basicallymodify it, update it to bring it
into our digital platform andthe cool thing about this is
(11:32):
that we can add a whole lot ofadditional features to it and in
some ways I kind of call themhyper collectibles.
For example, they can haveanimation, they can have audio,
they can have interaction, andwhat part of the mission that
David and I went on in 2017 isto really bring that physical
(11:53):
collectible experience that weknow and love into a digital
space, and that was one of themain reasons we really wanted to
go 3D with our collectibles, and we have tools in there, like
augmented reality, so you candrop your X-Wing, your
Stormtroopers, your Sandcrawlerwhatever directly in AR and you
can interact with it.
You know, make it follow aparticular path.
(12:13):
It's really a lot of fun, but, like I say, just a new and kind
of different way for forcollectors to to enjoy the
fandoms that that we love that'sgood.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Now, these
collectibles, do they you know,
do they appreciate, like youknow, like crypto, or you know
what's the?
What kind of value do they get?
Speaker 2 (12:37):
yeah, um, I mean
number one.
You know we're a collectiblebusiness.
At the end of the day, you knowlike I mean a lot of the
collectibles I buy, 90% of themmight stay the same value or
drop in value.
But of course there's alwaysthose very limited ones that you
find, you know, like in comics, for example, if you find that
rare variant cover at New YorkComic Con or San Diego.
(13:00):
Those are the type of assetsthat appreciate.
So, because we are, our businessis backed by blockchain, it
means that we can actuallycreate a limited number of those
digital assets.
It's not like back in the daywhere if I had a jpeg of Darth
Vader, I could send it to you,you could send it on to anyone
and there could be an infiniteamount of copies of it.
(13:21):
But because we are limited bysorry, because we leverage
blockchain, it means that theassets are actually limited.
So if we're only minting 50 ofa particular comic or 50 of a
particular collectible, they cannever be duplicated or copied.
So just to circle back to yourquestion, yeah, whenever we do a
(13:43):
drop, more often than not inthat drop is a very limited
version of that collectible andthose ones tend to appreciate.
And also, you know we have alot of first appearances, you
know, in this new space.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
And so how's business
, sorry, uh.
So how's business, sorry.
So how's business going?
Speaker 2 (14:04):
oh, business is going
great.
Um, obviously, you know, acouple of years ago everyone
knew about nfts.
You know, my mom, my dad, mymom was collecting everything.
Um, and you know, typicallywith new technology industries
we go through a massive hype andthen we go through a dip and
then it starts to come back upand the technology becomes
mainstream.
So we're sort of on that slopecoming up and we really believe
(14:29):
in this industry.
I'm never going to give upphysical collecting.
I love that, but I also love tohave my digital collectibles.
I mean, they're in the palm ofmy hand every day and with the
augmented reality features, nomatter where, I mean they're in
the palm of my hand, you knowevery day.
And with the augmented realityfeatures, you know no matter
where I am, if I'm out, atdinner or whatever.
I can have Bubba Fett join meor Darth Vader join me directly
(14:49):
in AR.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
Oh, that's cool.
Now it works.
So it works with VR.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Yes, it absolutely
works with vr.
So you know, the other thingthat we wanted to do with um,
with the digital collectingspace, is, you know, as I can
see from your background and mybackground, setting setting up
our collectibles and display.
It's like a really importantpart of the whole, the whole
process um.
So we have, we have our own ummetaverse or or you could call
(15:18):
them virtual showrooms wherepeople can go in, whether you
want to do it on computer or,very soon, on your phone or in
virtual reality, and you can goin and you can set up all your
collectibles and then you caninvite, you know, your friends
in.
So we really wanted to makesure that we kind of covered all
of the bases that collectorslove.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
So how many brands do
you work with here?
I see, you know I'm looking atyour page and there's a ton of
them.
How many are there?
Speaker 2 (15:48):
There would be 200
plus brands now.
And you know, really, becauseour sort of philosophy is that
everyone is a fan of something.
You know, some people love StarWars, some people love cars,
some people love stamps.
In this collecting space, infact, I meet so many collectors
at the Comic-Cons who collectthe most random things.
So for us it was really, reallyimportant that we get that
(16:10):
broad spread of brands just toappeal to all collectors.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
And you really see
this growing wide in the next
decade or so.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Yep, absolutely.
In fact, I would probably sayover the next one to two years,
we're going to start seeing alot more digital collectibles
coming into play and you know, Ithink it's just a testament to
the app and the product and ourteam In particular, the team,
our creative team who producesthe collectibles.
I mean they're, they're soamazingly detailed.
You know, you can zoom right inon a belt or you know helmet or
(16:47):
whatever, and just see thatreally, really fine detail oh,
that's good.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
I like you know, I
like detail details.
Great, yeah, absolutely.
Uh, do you have?
Do you have anything coming upthat you're excited to release?
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Yes, we've got a lot
of really cool brands coming up.
We haven't actually announcedthem just yet.
I'll say that they're from thegaming space, like very, very
iconic characters from thegaming space, and I mean, you
know, we're signing new licensesall the time and in fact, I
think this year at the LicensingExpo was one of our busiest
times.
So it's really great to see the.
(17:25):
You know, the actual industrybehind the scenes is really
starting to adopt this kind ofdigital approach.
That's typically where itstarts and then, you know,
ultimately end up in theconsumer's hands.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
All right Now for my
reviewers.
I like to give them a randomquestion here from my little
deck of cards.
Oh, let's go, let's go.
Uh, what's the main thing onyour bucket list?
Speaker 2 (17:53):
oh, main thing on my
bucket list, uh, it's.
It's pretty random actually.
One day I would love to climb alive volcano Not too far to the
top, but I've always justthought it would be quite
exhilarating to do somethinglike that.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Oh yeah, my sister
lived in Hawaii for a year and
she got very close to volcanoesthere.
Well, I'll give you the lastword here to promote VV Studios,
and then I think we'll finishup.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Yeah, thank you.
Yeah, you know, if you're acollector and you love
collecting, whether it'sphysical or digital, please come
and check out our site, vvme.
We've got all of the majorbrands.
You know, whether you likesuperheroes, Star Wars, anything
across the fandom space, yeah, come check it out.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
All right, Dan.
Thank you very much for joiningus today and we'll see you
later.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
You're welcome.
All right, let's get on withthe geek news.
Russell Crowe will instructHenry Cavill in the Ways of the
Immortals in the remake ofHighlander.
The Oscar winner is set to playCavill's mentor in a variation
(19:11):
on the part played by SeanConnery in the 1986 original
film John Wick.
Director Chad Stolzky willoversee the remake, which has a
script by Michael Finch, whowrote John Wick, chapter 4.
Highlander is being backed byAmazon, mgm Studios and United
Artists, which is being run byformer Netflix film chief, scott
(19:32):
Stuber.
The film will open theatricallyNow.
Crowe was one of the biggeststars of the late 90s and early
aughts, appearing inaction-heavy roles like
Gladiator and Master andCommander, and earned critical
raves for more dramatic worklike the Insider, a Beautiful
Mind and LA Confidential.
In recent years, he's taken onmore character parts like Kraven
(19:52):
the Hunter or the low-budgetmovies like the Pope's Exorcist
and Sleeping Dogs.
Fx is close to ordering a pilotfor Very Young Frankenstein, a
new project inspired by MelBrooks' classic 1974 comedy film
Young Frankenstein.
The film, often hailed as oneof the greatest comedy movies
ever, starred Gene Wilder as DrFrederick Frankenstein, who
(20:15):
inherits his grandfather'sTransylvanian castle and
continues his work on re-emmingthe dead.
Wilder also co-wrote thescreenplay with Brooks and the
cast, including Marty Feldman, cloris Leachman, terry Garr,
peter Boyle and Madeline Kahn.
Brooks previously adapted thefilm into a stage musical, much
like the producers.
Now, while specific plotdetails for Very Young Franken
(20:39):
Frankenstein of courseundisclosed, mel Brooks will
serve as executive produceralongside his producing partner,
ken Salter, stephanie Robinson, taiki Watiti and Garrett Bash,
all known for their works onwhat we Do in the Shadows, will
also executive produce.
Robinson is set to write andshowrun with YTD directing.
Michael Gruskoff, who producedthe original film, is also on
(21:00):
board as executive producer, with 20th Television behind the
project.
The potential pilot is thelatest TV adaptation of Brooks'
cinematic work.
Hulu recently aired History ofthe World Part II, a sketch
comedy series that followed upon his 1981 film History of the
World Part I.
So are you ready for Very YoungFrankenstein?
(21:21):
Get ready for more Stitchmayhem?
Disney is developing a sequelto its live-action Lilo and
Stitch remake.
The studio announced theproject on 6-26, a reference to
the Wild Blue Alien's governmentname, experiment 6-26.
In a brief teaser, stitchdrives a hot pink convertible
through the Disney lot as heshouts Get ready, here we go.
(21:43):
News of the follow-up comes, asLilo and Stitch has grossed
over $910 million at the globalbox office since Memorial Day.
Originally planned as astraight-to-streaming release,
the PG adventure is on pace tobecome this year's first
billion-dollar blockbuster.
And that's just a theatricalwindfall.
Long before he and Liloreturned to the big screen,
stitch's theme merchandise hasremained a huge moneymaker for
(22:05):
Disney in the past 23 years.
Since the original 2002animated film In 2024, disney
sold $2.6 billion in consumerproducts featuring the Lilo and
Stitch characters.
Stephen King's the Stand mayfinally be headed to the big
screen.
Filmmaker Doug Lyman isattached to direct a feature
(22:25):
film of the post-apocalypticbestseller for Paramount
Pictures, with Cross CreekPictures' Tyler Thompson on
board to produce the project, however, does not have a script,
so development may take sometime, as Lyman and the studio
Winokin's novel, which runs1,153 pages in its 1990
unabridged version, into asingle movie, but the studio
(22:46):
sees the movie as a priority andis moving forward aggressively
to make it happen.
The Stand, first published in1978, was previously adapted as
a TV miniseries for ABC in 1994,starring Gary Sinise, molly
Ringwald, Rob Lowe, ruby Dee andLaura Sanjian-Camo, and again
for Paramount+ in 2020, starringJames Marsden, odessa Young,
(23:09):
alexander Skarsgård, whoopiGoldberg and Amber Heard.
However, the story's epic scope, utilizing the backdrop of a
cataclysmic influenza pandemicthat wipes out 99.4% of humanity
to tell a sprawling story ofgood versus evil over many years
, has stymied previous effortsto adapt it into a big screen
movie.
Well, ben Affleck, scott Cooper, David Yates and Josh Bone are
(23:31):
among the filmmakers who've beenattached and then unattached,
to make the film.
So will we see the Stand in ourlifetime, who knows?

hip for the room.
