(01:52):
just over a month after itstheatrical debut and Gunn
explained to StreamingRantcomthat the rapid streaming release
was driven by the timing ofPeacemaker season two saying
quote Well, it's verycomplicated but the truth is
because of Peacemaker, he hadinitially expected Peacemaker to

(02:14):
launch next month.
Due to a lot of things thatwere beyond their control,
peacemaker is now being releasedsooner, prompting Gunn to
ensure that quote everyone to beable to see Superman that
wanted to, even those people whocouldn't get to a theater
before Peacemaker.
At the New York premiere of theDCU series, gunn informed the
Hollywood Reporter that hisDavid Cornswet-led superhero

(02:35):
movie quote leads directly intoPeacemaker and that the second
season of the show will, in turn, quote set up all of the rest
of the DCU.
Now Gunn emphasized theinterconnectedness quote set up
all of the rest of the DCU.
Now Gunn emphasized theinterconnectedness quote.
Now, regarding expectations forthis second season, gunn added

(03:08):
quote John Cena, who stars inthe show, echoed Gunn's
enthusiasm, telling theHollywood Reporter that season
two is quote is about furtheringthe narrative instead of

(03:31):
standalone properties.
All the DCU is now connected.
As you saw Peacemaker show upin Superman.
I think what you see in seasontwo is just a forward to that
narrative, that whole DCUthrough line.
It takes the 11th Street kidsthrough their next adventure,
but it also has a lot to do withthe DCU going forward.
Unquote.
Yeah, and I've seen the firstepisode of Peacemaker.

(03:55):
It's good.
It's good Even if you missed, even if you don't watch the
first season of Peacemaker, youcan watch the second season of
Peacemaker and be right there, because they start out, of
course, with a previously on theDCU tag.
So definitely, you know, tuneinto it.

And it is a great game.
I still pick that up every oncein a while just to find
different characters that Ihaven't found yet.

(05:41):
Find different characters thatI haven't found yet.
But that said, let's go on tothe Star Trek news.
Star Trek news begins withDaedalic Entertainment

(06:01):

More details are expected asthe release date approaches.
Now let's go on to the Marvelnews.

(09:17):
Marvel News begins with.

(09:42):
Marvel News begins with.
While Marvel Studios hadsignificant plans for the
Eternals prior to its release, new details have emerged about
what could have been.
Kamil Nanjiani, who playedKingo, recently disclosed the
extensive scope of his contract, which included future video
game, future film appearances, apotential video game and even a
theme park ride.
Nanjiani shared these insightswith a guest on the Working it

(10:05):
Out podcast, with fellowcomedian Mike Birbiglia.
He revealed that he iscurrently developing stand-up
material about his externalexperience, noting that the
project ultimately led him totherapy and a re-evaluation of
his approach to work.
Quote I was in this movie thatwas like a big movie and it came
out right after COVID.
I had a year and a half at hometo be just like, oh, when this

(10:27):
thing comes out.
And it came out and it gotreally bad reviews and it didn't
go do that well, it shatteredme too much and that's why I was
like, oh, I need to go like goto therapy to figure this out.
Nanjiani also readily admittedquote it's a movie called
Eternals, you know big Marvelmovie.

(10:50):
I was like, oh, this is goingto be my job for the next 10
years.
I signed on for six movies, Isigned on for a video game, I
signed on for a theme park ride.
They make you sign up for allthis stuff, and so you're like,
oh, this is the next 10 years ofmy life, so I'll be doing
Marvel movies every year, andthen in between I'd like to do
my own little things, whatever Iwant to do.
And then none of that happenedunquote.
So what was the plan for theEternals?

(11:11):
The revelation that Nanjianiexpected to appear in six movies
did, with a decade, sparkconsiderable speculation.
Marvel might have had a clearvision for the team's future
appearances and theirintegration into the MCU.
However, it's also plausiblethat they aim to secure as many
movie appearances as possiblefrom the outset to avoid costly
contract renegotiations, achallenge that's been seen with

(11:35):
stars like Robert Downey Jr.
Now he is keeping hope that hemight one day return to the
Marvel Universe.
Despite its critical reception, eternals was a commercial
success, especially consideringits release amidst the
significant impact of theCOVID-19 pandemic on movie
theaters.

(11:55):
The film's eventual shelving byMarvel was primarily the result
of negative fan and criticreactions.
Critics argued that the moviereintroduced too many new
concepts too quickly, contrasting sharply with the
gradual build-up to the Avengerscrossovers in previous films.
Nevertheless, the directing andperformances in Eternals
garnered praise and even wonnotable awards.

(12:15):
And if you haven't seenEternals, sit down, pull up
Disney+, watch it.
It's, you know, a good movie.
I actually went out to atheater to see it, so you know
it is not that bad.
It's all lengthy, I think youknow, because they have a lot of

(12:39):
exposition about thesecharacters and their life story,
but you know it's worthwatching.
Anyway, let's go on to the geeknews.

(13:08):
Season 15 of Doctor whoconcluded with Gatwa, the Kootie
Gatwa, regenerating into BillyPiper's Rose Tyler.
This set the stage for theupcoming spin-off series, the
War Between the Land and the Sea, produced by Bad Wolf.
Now, despite recent viewingfigures, bbc's director of
scripted, lindsay Salt,reaffirmed the corporation's
commitment to Doctor who, knowing it's continued

(13:29):
popularity with young audiences.
Similarly, philips, speaking atthe Edinburgh TV Festival,
assured fans that Doctor who isgoing nowhere.
Disney has been a greatpartnership and it continues
with the War Between the Landand the Sea next year.
But going forward, with orwithout Disney, doctor who will
still be on the BBC.
The TARDIS is going nowhere,however.

(13:53):
An analysis of officialseven-day viewing figures for
season 15 by Deadlinecom painteda concerning picture.
The show averaged 3.2 millionviewers across its eight
episodes, a decline of half amillion viewers from Gotwa's
debut season last year.
The decline is even morepronounced when compared to
Jodie Whittaker's final season,as the time lowered in 2021,

(14:13):
which averaged 4.9 millionviewers, representing a 1.7
million viewer decline.
Now these figures, sourced fromBarb, the UK's official ratings
body, included an on-demand andstreaming viewing on
televisions, but did notencompass the full viewing
landscape.
While broadcasters andstreamers typically prefer more
comprehensive 28-day figures,the seven-day trend strongly

(14:37):
suggests a continuing decline inDoctor who's overall ratings.
So you know, just expect moreDoctor who, don't worry about
the numbers.
Bbc, this is a cash cow.
Still, you know.
All they have to do is just, you know, tweak it, change
direction and they'll be fine.

(14:59):
Peta, the People for the EthicalTreatment of Animals I hate
this story recently contactedNintendo president Shintaro
Furukawa to express concern overthe depiction of the character
Cow in Mario Kart World, whichwas released in June on the
Switch.
2.
Bartlett, peta's SVP ofmarketing and engagement, wrote

(15:23):
a letter requesting the removalof the nose ring from the
character.
Bartlett stated that PETA wasdelighted by cow's popularity
but troubled by the nose ring, which they believed quote
glosses over real-world violenceand cruelty to animals.
Unquote the letter emphasizedthat nose rings are crudely
stabbed through the sense ofseptum of cows and bulls in the

(15:44):
meat and dairy industry, causinglasting pain and discomfort and
even drag animals to theirdeaths.
Now PETA urged Nintendo toquote show empathy towards
bovines by removing the nosering, allowing cows to race
freely without any painfulreminders of the industries that
treat animals likeprofit-making machines.
The letter concluded with aplea to leave the rings to Sonic

(16:06):
and let Cow breathe free.
Fans of the game, however, largely dismissed PETA's
complaint on social media.
One user commented the hell.
Is PETA of all organizationstelling them this now?
The Moo Moo Cow has always hada nose ring in the Mario Kart
universe and it's not even areal animal.
Another question does PETA haveanything better to do with

(16:27):
their time than complain aboutthe Mario Kart World cow design?
Like, maybe get companies totreat their actual livestock
better before you ask Nintendoto change a fictional cow?
A humorous response to aheadline read Breaking news
Mario Kart World was called forPETA to remove the stick from
their paid-to-play arse.
Now, this is not PETA's firstgrievance with Nintendo.
They have previously criticizedAnimal Crossing, new Horizons

(16:50):
for its fishing and bug-catchingelements, and have released
parody games such as Mario Kills, tanooki and Pokemon Black and
Blue.
Yeah, um, it's hard to getpeople on your side when you're
going after fictional creatures.
Beta, stick the real ones, leave fictional characters alone

(17:13):
.
It doesn't breathe.
It's insanity.

actor known for his diverse filmroles, passed away on Sunday at
the age of 87.
His family confirmed his deathbut did not disclose the
location or cause.
Stamp's career spanned decadesmarked by a range of memorable

(23:14):
appearances.
He first gained widespreadattention at 24 in Billy Budd in
1962, a film based on HermanMelville's novella.
His portrayal of the naive 18thcentury merchant, seaman Gron,
earned him an Oscar nominationand a Golden Globe for Most
Promising Newcomer.
Critics highlighted hisheartbreak blue eyes and tousled
blonde hair, which becamesynonymous with his character's

(23:37):
frequent provocations.
Three years later, stamptransformed his image to play a
dark-haired psychopath in theCollector, 1965.
His startling blue eyes, onceseen as innocent, became
terrifying.
Judith Christ of the New YorkHerald Tribune praised his
brilliance in its gauge ofmadness, and he received the
Best Actor award at the CannesFilm Festival for the

(23:59):
performance In Far Away from theMaddening Crowd, 1967, based on
the Thomas Hardy novel.
Stamp sported a sinister blackmustache as the sadistic
Sergeant Troy.
While reviews were mixed, rogerEbert called his performance
subtly vile.
A writer for the Guardian in2015 remarked that Stamp
displayed an animation andconviction in this role that he

(24:21):
never equaled elsewhere.
After a nearly decade-longhiatus, stamp returned to acting
as a character actor this time.
His powerful entrance inSuperman II 1980, crashing
through the White House roof, reintroduced him to audiences.
He played General Zod, an aliensupervillain with a burning
desire to rule the world, a rolehe held briefly in the first

(24:42):
Superman movie.
Stamp also continued to have abusy career for the next half
century.
One of his most noble roles wasBernadette, a middle-aged
transgender nightclubentertainer in the Adventures of
Priscilla, queen of the Desert,in 1994.
He adopted a new on-screen look, complete with dangly earrings,
a gracious blonde pageboy andsubtle makeup.

(25:03):
In a 2019 Reuters interview, heexplains his connection to the
role stating quote I've got akind of more developed feminine
side of my nature, so it was achance to knowingly explore that
unquote.
He also reflected on anexperience of to be born into
the wrong body and born into abody that wasn't the same as
one's emotions.
Born Terence Henry Stamp on July22, 1938 in London, he was one

(25:28):
of five children of Thomas Stamp, a tugboat stoker, and Ethel
Stamp.
Growing up in the low-incomeEast End, stamp recalled modest
career change, with suggestionslike bricklaying or a Woolworths
manager.
Despite working at advertisingagencies after school, he
secretly pursued acting lessonsat the Weber Douglas Academy of

(25:48):
Dramatic Arts in London.
While Billy Budd is often citedas his debut Term of Trial,
where he appeared alongside, laurence Olivier, was released a
month earlier in England.
Stamp had a brief andunsuccessful Broadway experience
, playing the title role inAlfie in 1964, which closed
after three weeks, and he laterturned down the same role in the
1966 film version which went tohis flatmate Michael Caine,

(26:12):
launching Caine's Stardom.
Other noble roles in the 60sinclude a cockney sidekick in
Modesty Blaze, a sensitiveworking-class guy in Ken Loach's
Poor Cow and a mysteriousstranger in Pier Paolo
Pasolino's Theorem.
Federico Fellini also directedhim in Spirits of the Dead in
1968.
Stamp later moved into anashram in India and became a

(26:35):
swami, citing a lack of actingwork despite being in his 30s.
About eight years later, heaccepted the Superman role,
reportedly just to work withMarlon Brando.
Between 1978 and 2019, stampappeared in over 50 films.
He received particular acclaimfor his role in Steven

pensioner.
After being a Superman villain,he later voiced the superhero's
noble Kryptonian father in thetelevision series Smallville.
His final film was thehorror-thriller Last Night in

(27:20):
Soho in 2021, whereas EntranceAlone was deemed a masterclass
in minimalist menace by a Timesreview.
In the 1960s, stamps' highlypublicized romances included
British supermodel JeanShrimpton and actress Julie
Christie.
In 2002, at 64, he married29-year-old Australian
pharmacist Elizabeth Rourke.
