Roger roger, star Wars newsbegins with Star Wars fans,
having been getting some bignews recently, with a new
trilogy in the works and now aheavily anticipated Star Wars TV
series has just received anofficial release date.
That series would be Andor, thecritically acclaimed series
that some thought might not geta second season, but thankfully
it's not the case.
Now it's been very quiet on theAndor front for a while, but
(08:23):
the Disney Plus mobile apprecently updated with Andor
advertising and at the bottom ofthe poster it now reads Season
2 coming April 22.
Tying into one of Star Wars'biggest celebrations, simon
Kinberg has signed an expansivedeal to write and produce a new
Star Wars feature trilogy.
Kinberg would spearhead thelaunching of a new saga in the
(08:44):
beloved galaxy far, far away andwill write the scripts for what
Lucasfilm hopes could chart abrand new path forward for the
sci-fi space opera universe.
Lucasfilm topper, kathleenKennedy, will also produce the
new trilogy.
The story is not meant to be acontinuation of the Skywalker
saga, the name of the overallarc of the popular and pop
(09:07):
culture dominating series, starWars movies known as Episodes 1
through 9.
The intent here is to havebrand new characters and a new
story and not have it be acontinuation.
According to sources to theHollywood Reporter, although
that, of course, doesn't meanthat some characters would or
would not pop up.
Kinberg already has strong StarWars ties.
(09:28):
He co-created the animatedseries Star Wars Rebels as well
as, which ran for four seasonsfrom 2014 to 2018.
He also helped out on therelaunch of Star Wars after

Among many other creativeduties, he is also about to go
into production on EdgarWright's take on the Stephen
King tale, the Running man, forParamount.
The writer-producer is one ofthe busiest creatives in town
and he's helping to develop therival Star Trek franchise for
Paramount, a deal he steppedinto this past spring.
(10:10):
He was due to take an activeproducing role on the
franchise's film side.
Sources say he will maintainthose duties, keeping one hand
on a lightsaber and the other ona phaser.
Lucasfilm has tried to chartdifferent paths forward before
Kennedy previously signedfilmmaker Rian Johnson to
develop a trilogy, as well asGame of Thrones creators David
Benioff and DB Weiss.
None of those actually came tofruition, with the company
(10:32):
facing occasional scrutiny overthe years.
Lucasfilm will next launch a TVseries, skelton Crew, which
debuts on Disney Plus onDecember 3rd.
However, disney has pulled anew Star Wars movie, dated for
December 18th 2026, off thecalendar.

After 25 years, kevin Smith isreconnecting with the man
upstairs for the unholiest ofsequels.

he's working on a sequel to the1999 film and expects Ben
Affleck and Matt Damon to returnfor cameos at least Now.
(15:39):

ruin it.
And I'm here to tell you I will.
I'm bleep tickled, I've found away in unquote.
He sounded confident thatAffleck and Damon would reprise
their roles as fallen angelsBarlby and Loki.
After Smith helped save thepair's 1997 Good Will Hunting
without so much of a thank youin their Golden Globes and Oscar
(16:00):
speeches.
They owe him.
Quote I have been able to holdthat over both their heads for
25 bleep years, which is whythey keep showing up in all the
movies.
Expect a cameo from them morethan a bleep cameo.
The only way we get a dogmasequel made is Now.
Dogma served as the fourthinstallment in the Smith's View
(16:20):
universe, which includes ClerksMallrats Chasing Amy Jane,
silent Bob Strike Back, clerksJay and Silent Bob Reboot and
Clerks 3.
Last month, smith announced thereligious satires returning to
theaters and getting a new homevideo release after another
company purchased thedistribution rights from Miramax
(16:42):
, making it potentiallyavailable to stream for the
first time ever.
So, yeah, that's interestingnews.
Of course, unless they showcaseBarlowby and Loki in like a
kind of a dream sequence or ayou know, we're seeing them in
the past or something, because, remember, they did not survive
(17:06):
the movie.
If you've seen it.
If you haven't seen it, oops, sorry for spoiling.
Sorry for spoiling a really oldmovie, 25 years.

Frozen Empire, director JillKeenan confirmed that there will
be more films in the iconicfranchise Quote.
We definitely are continuingthe conversation of telling big
Ghostbusters stories on the bigscreen.
The answer is yes, jasonReitman.
We take the responsibility andthe joy of being the keepers of
the flame of Ghostbusters veryseriously.
We definitely are continuingthe conversation of telling big
(19:39):
Ghostbusters stories on the bigscreen, and stay tuned, there'll
be more.
There'll be more about thatlater.
Now the director and writeralso made sure to plug the
recently announced and madeGhostbusters series on Netflix,
which he is actively working onwith Jason Reitman.
So more Ghostbusters.
Now I have heard that the that, like the older Ghostbusters,
(20:05):
like Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, are not going to be in future
films, and that's quite allright.
We know they're there.
They can cameo in futurestories if they want, but the
series has to stand on its ownwithout using too much old stuff
(20:26):
.
Which brings us to our finalstory tonight, of course, a sad
story.
Tony Todd, an American actorknown for leading the Candyman
horror franchise as itseponymous hook-wielding ghost,
died Wednesday at his home inMarina del Rey, california, at
the age of 69.
Todd's death was confirmed by arepresentative for the actor.
(20:46):
A cause of death was confirmedby a representative for the
actor.
A cause of death was notdisclosed.
A reliable presence in genrefare across four decades.
Todd's series of creditsinclude iconic titles such as
Alex Proye's comic bookadaptation the Crow, michael
Bay's Alcatraz, auctioneer theRock and the elaborate killing
set piece series FinalDestination.
One of his earliest filmperformances came in his 30s and
(21:09):
offers Stone's Oscar-winningwar epic Platoon On Star Trek
the Next Generation.
Todd donned alien makeup toplay Kern, a commander in the
Klingon Defense Force andbrother of Worf.
But Todd secured his name in thegenre pantheon with his
performance in Bernard Rose'sCandyman, an early 90s
Americanized spin on a CliveBarker short story that brought
(21:29):
a memorable supernatural spinand themes of gentrification and
racism.
At towering 6'5", todd playedDaniel Robitaille, aka Candyman,
the tortured, bee-covered ghostof an African-American artist
and son of a slave who wasmurdered for his relationship
with a white woman.
The film starred VirginiaMadison as a Chicago graduate
(21:49):
student preparing her thesis onthe legend of Candyman by
investigating inner-city Chicago.
Madison wrote in a post onInstagram after learning of her
co-star's death.
Quote my beloved, may you restin power.
The great actor Tony Todd hasleft us and now is an angel as
he was in life more later, but Ican't right now.
I love you".
(22:11):
Now Candyman positioned itselfas a somewhat arty genre play,
debuting at the TorontoInternational Film Festival at
the Midnight Madness section.
Its handling of serious themesdid not go in question at the
time, with some levyingaccusations that it trafficked
in racist stereotypes, but thefilm has endured in critical and
genre circles for itsunblinking approach to serious
(22:31):
matters, connecting America'shistory of racism to the woes of
contemporary urban life.
Dodd reprised his role as asympathetic slasher several
times.
He returned for the 1995 sequelCandyman Farewell to the Flesh,
as well as the Terry Murray'sCandyman Day of the Dead in 1999
.
After decades of development, the property was revived at
(22:54):

titled Candyman, whichfunctioned as a direct sequel to
the 1992 original and wasco-written by DaCosta, jordan
Peele and Wynne Rosenfield.
Todd reprised his role in thenew entry, which starred Yahya
Abdul-Mateen II, as an artistwho becomes drawn into the
(23:15):
Candyman urban myth.
Born December 4, 1954, inWashington DC, todd studied at
the University of Connecticutfor two years before shifting to
the Eugene O'Neill NationalTheater Institute.
Trained for the stage, toddwould practice playwriting
himself and teach it to highschool students in Hartford.
He'd also gone on to originatethe title role in August
(23:35):
Wilson's King Hedley II.
For his productions inPittsburgh, seattle and Boston,
his performance was a memorabletour de force.
Among Todd's credits totalingover 200, the actor had a
recurring role in Boston Publicand made guest appearances on
Law Order, homicide, life on theStreet, the X-Files, smallville
, psych and 24.
He also voice acted too, playing the Fallen in
(23:56):
Transformers, revenge of theFallen, zoom in the CW's the
Flash and, most recently, venomin Insomniac's PlayStation Smash
Spider-Man 2.
In Insomniac's PlayStationSmash Spider-Man 2.
He starred in the Night of theLiving Dead and was one of the
few actors to recur in the FinalDestination franchise, which
would often kill off all its newcharacters by the end of each
new entry.
(24:17):
Todd never stopped working, often lending his gravitas and
genre reputation todirect-to-video thrillers over
the recent years.
His profile on IMDb currentlylists more than nine titles that
have entered post-production.
Tony Todd is survived by twochildren, alex and Ariana.
