Murder in the Mourning

Mami Matsuda disappeared from a pachinko parlor in Japan in 1990 sparking a decades-long mystery of murders and cover-ups. Without the critical investigative work done by Kiyoshi Shimizu the wrong man would be behind bars and the world would have long forgotten this case.

Over a century ago, one of Montreal’s most powerful families, the Redpaths, suffered an unimaginable tragedy. The youngest son Clifford and his mother were murdered in June of 1901. Oddly, authorities were never called and the deceased were buried in record time. Some speculate that Clifford killed his mother before turning the weapon on himself, while others believe the opposite. 

However, I believe there is more to this story than...

Decades ago, the city with the most serial killers per capita was London…Ontario! In a mere 25 years, 29 people were murdered in the area, of which 16 remain unsolved. A minimum of three serial killers were identified, however, the true number may never be known.

In terms of serial killers you’ve “never heard of,” this case may be the one. 

Dismembered body parts, hacked apart with saws, began appearing in Hanover, Germany during the 1970s. First, a torso, followed by a leg, and then arms and a thorax! The atrocities only kept coming.

This “human puzzle” has confused investigators for nearly half a century.

53 years ago the body of Theresa Rodger was found bound and bloodied atop a Brooklyn rooftop. According to the autopsy she was murdered in broad daylight, but not one record of an investigation exists. 

Police told her family that because she wasn’t sexually assaulted, a group of girls must be responsible! I find that hard to believe.
