Speaker 1 (00:00):
There's a champion.
Yes, there is a Victor and youhave one who succeeds and one
who fails, but the greatestcompetition is not against each
other.
The greatest measure of our ownpersonal strengths, our own
fortitude is when we competeagainst ourselves, we are not
competing against each other.

(00:20):
And yet the world tries to teachus that we should pit each other
against each other.
That we should try to succeed atthe expense of someone else who
fails.
That is not true success.
True success is succeedingtogether.
Steve have often spoke of thisas a win-win situation.

(00:44):
No one wants a win losesituation where one person wins
and the other person loseswelcome to music, motivation and
more the positivity podcast.
I am your host, Gerald Simon.
I'm the founder of music, motivation and the creator of

(01:06):
the cool song series and theessential piano exercise course.
And I'm excited to have youlisten to the show today.
Today's podcast is titled youare uniquely original.
Let me explain be you don'tpretend to be someone else be

(01:31):
yourself.
Don't be an imposter for thepositive perceptions portion of
this podcast.
I would like to start by readingan excerpt from a I book
perceptions, parables, andpointers.
This is on page 29, and this iswhat it says.
Be yourself.

(01:52):
You are uniquely original don'tblend in with the latest fads or
fashions.
Stand out, set yourself apartfrom others in a good way, be
the best version of you that youcan be.
You don't need the latestgadgets and gizmos to fit in or
feel accepted by the masses.

(02:13):
Be true to who you are.
It's interesting because I thinktoo many people get lost.
They, they lose themselves andit starts at a very young age
because early on, even in gradeschool, children learn

(02:34):
instinctively that there aredifferences and it's okay to be
different.
It's good to be different, butinstinctively from a very young
age, children learn thatsometimes those differences can
cause individuals to excludeothers, to form their own little

(02:54):
groups, their own littleparties.
We have cliques and differentgroups emerge, which is
wonderful because not everyonefits in these groups.
But what happens is instead ofaccepting everyone and including
everyone that is when divisionoccurs and people feel as if

(03:17):
they are separat it into groups, they feel sometimes judged that
division.
It actually divides people quiteliterally and figuratively as
well.
And what happens is sometimeswhen people feel that loss, that
disconnect, they feel excluded.

(03:37):
They feel as if they are lost.
And sometimes, unfortunatelyindividuals will try to fit in.
They will do what they see theirpeers.
Do.
They give into peer pressurebecause they're trying to fit
in.
Sometimes they start doing andsaying things that they would

(03:58):
never do or saying in the firstplace, but they're trying to
feel like they have a place thatthey fit in.
And so though they may start tofit in with their surroundings.
They're not being true to whothey are now.
That can cause serious problemsmentally, emotionally, even
physically, when individualsfeel as if they need to conform

(04:23):
either to a group or anindividual to a society, but
they lose their personality, their voice, they lose their
uniqueness.
They are not true to who theyare.
And we must be true to who weare for the motivation.
In a minute portion of thispodcast, I would like to read in

(04:44):
the pointer section of my book, perceptions, parables, and
pointers, a quote by GalileoGalilei.
This is what he says.
You cannot teach a man.
Anything.
You can only help him discoverit in himself or the music
within portion of this podcast.
I would like to have us listento a piano solo.

(05:05):
I composed it is titled discordand it has these dark chords.
It's in a minor key, but it hasthese huge chords.
They're Octa chords.
And they're moving all up in dayout, listen to the music, but
listen to the emotion, thefeeling and see if you can feel

(05:31):
what hopefully this piece wastrying to portray.
This is discord from my album, sweet serenity,

Speaker 2 (06:12):
The, the, the, the, I , the, the I

Speaker 1 (09:04):
For the poetry that motivates portion of this
podcast.
I would like to read a poem.
I wrote from my book, the, as ifprinciple motivational poetry,
this home is titled, never doubtyourself.
Never doubt yourself, and nevercompare yourself with others.

(09:24):
You have talents and gifts.
You have greatness within youare wonderful and special, and
you are, you be the best thatyou can be, regardless of what
others do.
Increase your intelligence, learn and grow, seek wisdom and

(09:44):
experience.
So you may know that you cantrust yourself and your
greatness within never doubtyour abilities and you'll
succeed and win.
I think that is the key ineverything we do.
It's not about succeeding andit's not about winning to truly

(10:07):
succeed in life, to truly win atanything means if you are
playing a game that one sidewins and one side loses, and
that's not really winning.
I mean, yes, there is achampion.
Yes, there is a Victor and youhave one who succeeds and one
who fails.
But the greatest competition isnot against each other.

(10:29):
The greatest measure of our ownpersonal strengths, our own
fortitude is when we competeagainst selves, we are not
competing against each other.
And yet the world tries to teachus that we should pit each other
against each other.
That we should try to succeed atthe expense of someone else who

(10:53):
fails.
That is not true success.
True success is succeedingtogether.
Steve, our Covey often spoke ofthis as a win-win situation.
No one wants a win losesituation where one person wins
and the other person loses nomatter how you configure it, if

(11:13):
one person wins and the otherperson loses, then truthfully,
both are losing.
It's not about hustling andtrying to outdo or outcompete
each other.
It's about winning together.
It's about helping both sidesachieve a victory, but the
truest victory that we canachieve is when we are honest

(11:36):
with ourselves, it is importantto be honest with others, but we
must be honest with ourselves.
When we look ourselves in themirror each morning, we must be
true to who we are.
Even if the world around uscomes, crashing down and
crumbles.
If the ground beneath our feetcollapses, if we are still true

(11:58):
to ourselves, then we havenothing to be afraid of or
apologize for because we arebeing true to who we are.
Now.
I am religious.
I believe in God.
And I often speak about go God.
He is my heavenly father.
And I know not everyone believesin God.
And that is okay if you don't.

(12:19):
But for me personally, if I amtrue to who I am, that means
being true to my father inheaven.
For me personally, it is part ofwho I am and I know not, and is
religious.
And that's okay.
Again, you can be true to whoyou are, but for me personally,
and for anyone else who believesin a higher power, you cannot be

(12:43):
true to yourself.
If you deny the source of thatpower.
And for me, everything is a giftfrom God everywhere.
I look, I am reminded of hisgoodness.
I am reminded of how much I oweto my father in heaven.
And I am reminded of howeveryone around me, everyone is

(13:07):
being blessed.
We all have struggles.
We all have trials.
We all have difficulties as weput our faith and trust in each.
And if we believe in God, wewill put our faith and trust in
God and in doing so, we will beable to accomplish everything we
hope to accomplish.
We will be true to who we are.
We will be true to each other, and we will be true to God.

(13:30):
And so it is my hope that wewill be ourselves.
We will know that we areperfectly imperfect.
No one is perfect.
Everyone makes mistakes.
Everyone trips, everyone falls.
Everyone has trials.
It's just a part of life.
It's who we are.
It's what we experience.

(13:51):
We have good days.
We have bad days.
We all do.
But if we can be honest and ifwe can be true, true to
ourselves, true to what webelieve true to what we have
learned, the lessons, the lifelessons we are learning every
day.
If we will be true to each otherand true to ourselves, then we

(14:13):
will experience true, be peaceand harmony.
It's that inner peace.
Trust yourself, trust eachother.
Trust that there is a higherpower looking out for you
watching over you.
And sometimes we feel alone.
Sometimes we feel abandoned.
Sometimes we feel as if we arelost.

(14:34):
We are confused.
We are unsure and that's okay.
We're not alone.
We all have those feelings.
We all have those mishaps andmisunderstandings, but we can
get through whatever difficultor dark day may fall upon us.
We can progress.
We can improve.

(14:54):
We can be better.
As I often say, we can be bettertoday than we were yesterday.
That is my hope.
