Tuve el honor y privilegio de entrevistar a la única representante para Puerto Rico en el congreso de los Estados Unidos, la comisionada residente Jenniffer Gonzalez Colon. La representante Jenniffer Gonzalez Colon Entró por primera vez en un cargo electivo en una elección especial de 2002, convirtiéndose en el miembro más joven en ese momento en servir en la Cámara de Representantes de Puerto Rico. Rápidamente ascendió de rango, convirtiéndose en Presidenta de la Cámara de Representantes de Puerto Rico durante cuatro años y Líder de la Minoría durante otros cuatro. Al ganar su escaño en el Congreso, también se convirtió en la primera mujer en ocupar el cargo de Comisionada Residente. Sus prioridades como voz de Puerto Rico en el Congreso incluyen encabezar la recuperación económica de la Isla, especialmente después de los devastadores desastres de los huracanes Irma y María en 2017, así como asegurar la igualdad de trato para los 3.2 millones de ciudadanos estadounidenses de Puerto Rico en leyes, regulaciones, servicios y fondos federales.
Durante la entrevista, la comisionada residente estará compartiendo un poco sobre su posición electiva y su rol representando la Isla del Encanto ante el congreso. Nos enfocaremos en los retos que las familias que tienen seres queridos con Autismo enfrentan, especialmente la comunidad del Autismo en la isla.
