Amanda Benbow Lunn (00:09):
Hello
friends, thanks for joining me
and the NC Deep Dive.
I am your host, AmandaBenbow-Lunn, and we are delving
into the 2024 primary election.
Each episode will cover adifferent race that will be on
your primary ballot thiselection.
When you go to vote, you willbe handed a ballot based on your
address and party affiliation.
(00:30):
If you are unaffiliatedsometimes also referred here as
independent then you will haveyour choice of which party's
ballot you would like to vote.
Please note that you are onlyable to cast one ballot and that
there are no primary ballotsfor the Green Party or the no
Labels Party.
Moreover, candidates for thegeneral election in November who
(00:51):
do not have a primarychallenger will not appear on
your primary ballot.
They get a pass directly to thegeneral election.
Due to time constraints and theplethora of candidates, and my
belief that having as muchinformation as possible is of
vast importance, our primaryelection segment will consist of
me covering one race at a time,as time allows, and going over
(01:15):
each candidate's website andwhat I can find on a simple
Google search, in case it iseasier for you to take in
information this way.
If you are short on time, youcan check out our NC Deep Dives
Voters Guide for the 2024primary election, found pinned
to our Facebook page or on thisepisode's show notes at www.

com.
(01:35):
It will be an easy way toaccess each candidate's website
and research the candidates onyour own.
If that's a better use of yourtime, without further ado, my
friends, let's dive in Followingthe North Carolina District
Court Judge, district 10D, seat5, on the Democratic ballot
(01:57):
there are two names listed BlairWilliams and Kevin Boxberger.
Since the filing for this seat, kevin Boxburger has been
recently nominated for adifferent seat for North
Carolina District Court Judge,and I believe it's seat 3.
So, while his name is still onthe ballot, he is not actively
(02:18):
campaigning for this seat anylonger and the current seat that
he is being nominated for doesnot have a primary, so he will
be moving to the generalelection in November for that
particular seat.
I will give you a little bitabout Blair Williams and go over
his website just so that youhave that information, in case
it is helpful for you.
His website isBlairWilliamsforJudge.
(02:39):

It says Discover the experienceand values that define Blair as

District Attorney's Office in1994.
(03:25):
I gained valuable courtexperience as a third year law
student with the DistrictAttorney's Office in 1995.
As a newly licensed attorney, Iserved as a court-appointed
criminal defense attorney.
I had a general practice as asole practitioner prior to
focusing on real estate whileworking in and for law firms.
I served as a judicial hearingofficer with the Clerk of Courts
(03:47):
in 2007,.
Being elected countywide asClerk of Court in 2018,
continues a verifiable legaltrack record of legal public
service that our communityrelies on today.
There's an area where you cancontribute to his campaign.
There are news and updates.
So it says Wake County VoterEducation Coalition endorses
(04:09):
Blair Williams for DistrictCourt Judge.
This coalition was formed inthe early 70s.
The following individuals werekey for that, and there are a
bunch of names listed.
Under the leadership and keenfocus of the initial coalition
goals and objectives, theirpolitical advocacy continually
led to a better, strongerorganization.
The current WCVEC stands on theshoulders of its original
(04:31):

and Wake County communities, andthey set out to work towards
the betterment of all WakeCounty citizens, and you can
learn more about the Wake CountyVoter Education Coalition by

There is a space where you canjoin his campaign and that is
(05:16):
pretty much his website.
I did look him up on ballotpedia.
He did not complete theirquestionnaire survey.
According to the North CarolinaState Board of Elections, he
has $4,745.76 on hand.
He has received zerocontributions from any
(05:37):
individuals or PACs andaccording to this, he has not
spent anything either, and thiswas through the end of last year
.
I don't see anything currentfor the beginning of this year.
He did fill out the Indie WeekCandidate Questionnaire form so
you can find that online.
There are 10 questions therethat he answered.
(06:00):
He did participate in our NCDeep Dive Voters Guide
Questionnaire, so you can findthat as well, which will be in
the show notes.
I do believe he also is listedin WRAL's voter guide.
Their voter guide just takesinformation that they found from
the websites and I didn't seeanything of major substance on a
(06:22):
Google search for Blair.
That is all the informationthat could be easily googled if
you would like to do so.
For the North Carolina DistrictCourt Judge, district 10D, seat

take part in our civic duty bybeing informed and casting our

The candidates in offices onyour ballot can have a major
(07:06):
impact on our everyday lives andcan have real consequences.
They create and enforce ourlaws, invest in our future
well-being, fund all the thingslike our schools and roads,
ensure we have safe drinkingwater and food to put on our
tables and advocate on behalf ofthose they represent, hopefully
keeping in mind both the littleand the big picture of it all.

Each area in Wake County hasall the possible ballots.

(08:11):

(08:55):
I will be including helpfullinks for each candidate and
voting in general on ourwebsite's show notes, including
our NC Deep Dives voters guidefor the 2024 primary election.
We were blessed to have manycandidates take the time to
share their thoughts and speakto voters within Southern Wake
County.
The voters guide is arranged byparty affiliation and organized
(09:15):
in such a way to make itrelatively easy to find the
races or candidates you might beinterested in.
All candidates' websites arelinked.
If I was able to find one, Ialso consciously chose to
arrange the voters guidestarting at the end of the
ballot.
So often we are aware of thelarger races, yet don't hear
much about, or take the time tolearn about, the smaller races.
As always, if you have anyquestions, concerns or topics

you'd like to share, you maycontact us via social media or
