Teacher retention the days ofwishing we could pay teachers
more are a thing of the past, because higher pay is not a
luxury.
We are in a staffing crisis.
We need to offer competitivesalaries, reinstate lost
benefits and treat teachers asprofessionals.
All are critical to retainingour most talented educators.

(05:17):
Teacher recruitment we need tomake teacher profession more
attractive.
We cannot recruit when the UNCsystem has seen a drop in
college enrollment in the fieldof education.
We need to bring backretirement benefits for new
hires and increase the startingsalary to prevent new teachers
from working second jobs to paytheir bills.

(05:38):
Competitive pay structure.
Students and teachers deservemore than a salary increase that
barely matches the rate ofinflation.
We need a true and competitivepay structure so experienced
educators no longer have to makefinancial sacrifices to support
our students and teachers canafford to keep teaching.
School safety we must beproactive in our approach to
school safety.

(05:58):
Ongoing assessments andconversations with local law

Looking at Mo Green on Google,I found a couple of articles of
interest, one of which wasentitled Honoring Maurice Mo
Green by supporting students inGuilford County, and it states

(13:31):
former Z Smith ReynoldsFoundation Executive Director.
Maurice Mo Green is knownstatewide as a champion of
public education.
In 2015, when Greentransitioned from his role as
superintendent of GuilfordCounty schools to ZSR, guilford
County community membersestablished a scholarship fund
through local nonprofit Shiftunderscore ed in recognition of

(13:52):
his work.
Now, eight years after theMaurice Mo Green endowed fund
for Shifted was firstestablished, csr is donating
$425,000 to the fund in honor ofGreen's years of dedicated
service to the foundation.
Green chose Shift ed to receivethe honorarium because he
considers it a game changer forstudents and family in Guilford

(14:13):
County.
During my time assuperintendent, he says I
encountered many families whocouldn't envision an educational
future for their kids beyondhigh school simply because of
cost.
Shift ed's all encompassingapproach to supporting students,
from tutoring to last dollartuition scholarships, helps
students and families see thatanything is possible.
Shift ed president and CEO,wendy Poteet, calls Green a

(14:36):
visionary.
It was thanks to his foresightand persistence that Shift ed
came to exist in Guilford County.
She says.
To transform our communitymeans accelerating outcomes for
our students so they can fillcritical roles in our workforce.
Mo understood that andassembled change makers from
across the county to make ithappen.
This gift underscores hiscommitment to students, families

(14:56):
and our entire community.
Green led Guilford Countyschools for more than seven
years, completing the district'sfirst ever strategic plan and
launching a second, both ofwhich have resulted in notable
outcomes, such as increasedgraduation rates and other
impressive student achievements, both academic and non-academic.
In 2016, green took theleadership role at CSR and

(15:17):
served for nearly seven years.
In that time, the foundationlaunched all four NC, our
current framework for grantmaking and learning.
Green considers the donationfrom CSR humbling.
It is an honor not only for me,but also for my entire family
to know that these resourceswill enable students in Guilford
County to continue theireducational journeys beyond high

(15:38):
school graduation.
He says knowing that we arehelping to break down financial

About Kenon Crumble personalstatement.

(24:29):
As I stand at threshold ofembarking on the next phase of
my academic journey, the allureof doctoral studies summons me
like rays to a rising sun.
This journey has been one paidwith insatiable curiosity,
unyielding determination and anunwavering commitment to
personal and intellectual growth.
As I reflect upon theexperiences and choices that
have led me to this pivotalmoment, I am reminded of the

(24:52):
transformative power ofeducation and the infinite
possibilities that lie ahead.
From an early age, myinsatiable curiosity served as
my guiding compass.
I remember spending hoursengrossed in frivolous play that
transported me to realms bothreal and imagined.
Each day that expired felt likemy journey of uncovering a
hidden treasure was coming to anend, but expanding my

(25:13):
understanding of the world andfueling my desire to explore the
unknown was exhilarating.
This intrinsic curiosity wasnurtured by poverty, which
encouraged me to question andseek answers, to challenge
assumptions and to delve deeperinto the subjects that
captivated my mind.
As I transitioned to doctoralstudies, my academic pursuits
evolved from the pursuit ofknowledge to the cultivation of

(25:35):
critical thinking andproblem-solving skills.
The once detested realms ofeducation became my playground
for intellectual exploration andmy outlet for success.
I grappled in the intricatestruggle of theory and
application, where classroomdiscussions and hands-on
projects synergized to broadenmy perspectives.
Yet it was in the agony andsuffering of challenges that I

(25:55):
discovered my capacity to adapt, learn and innovate.
A particularly poignant memoryis when I received an IEP in
elementary school andsubsequently autonomously
refused services and tested out.
My passion for educationemerged as a natural extension
of my interests and experiences, because I did not have anything
as a child.
My father, who is and alwayswill be my hero, did not have

(26:19):
much to offer me but wisdom.
However, the more I delved intoeducation, the more I realized
its profound implications onshaping my future.
Michelle Rhee helped me embarkupon, not only fortifying my
knowledge, but also illuminatedthe vast potential for
innovation and positive change.
It was then that the idea ofdoctoral studies germinated
within me, the desire to notonly grasp the complexities of

(26:42):
this field, but to contribute toits advancement.
Doctoral studies, to me,represent more than an academic
pursuit they symbolize anopportunity for profound
personal transformation andsocietal impact.
I am drawn to Long IslandUniversity because of its
distinguished faculty,cutting-edge research
opportunities and collaborativeethos.
The prospect of engaging inresearch that could contribute

(27:04):
to change exhilarates me,envisioning a future where my
passion converges with purpose.
As I stand on the cusp of thisnew chapter, I carry with me not
only the knowledge amassedthrough years of diligent study,
but also the unwaveringdetermination that has been my
compass thus far.
My journey has reaffirmed thepower of perseverance, the

(27:25):
beauty of intellectual curiosityand the potential for growth
when met with challenges.
I am ready to embrace therigors of doctoral studies, to
immerse myself in new realms ofknowledge and to emerge as a
transformed individual with acapacity to drive change.
My journey to this platform hasbeen one marked by unyielding
curiosity, resilience, pessimistand the pursuit of excellence,

(27:49):
with a heart packed witheagerness and an open mind.
With a heart packed witheagerness and a mind open to
infinite possibilities, Ieagerly anticipate the
challenges and triumphs that lieahead.
This is not merely a steptowards a degree.
It is a leap towards personaland intellectual fulfillment,
guided by the belief thateducation is the most potent
catalyst for change.
