Today we’re going to tackle a topic that’s affecting more and more people every day—especially those in recovery from addiction. It is something that has been creeping into our lives over the last several years, thanks to the rise of social media and the 24/7 news cycle. I am talking about "doomscrolling", or what I like to call "doomsurfing". It is a compulsive behavior where we can not stop scrolling, refreshing, and diving into negative news, especially the kind that feeds our anxieties and fears. And, as we will discuss today, this behavior can be especially damaging for those of us who are working hard to overcome addiction.
