Speaker 1 (00:42):
Good evening everyone, Welcome to the New Heights Show on education.
My name is Manya Shupla and you are with me
on the another episode of Empowering HR within the Workforce,
your go to podcast for the ever evolving God of HR.
This podcast is the way of sharing insights on building
a more effective and efficient workforce while also focusing on

(01:07):
your personal growth. If you tune into our previous episode,
thank you so much for your support. We talked about
productive habits. If you missed it, be sure to check
it out, dear listeners. As we all know, no team
is complete without a leader. A leader provides direction, clarity,

(01:31):
and most importantly, a sense of purpose to move forward.
While every leader shares a common goal to accomplish the task,
each one leaves in their own unique ray. Yes, leadership
is not one size fits all. There are different styles
of leadership and understanding these leaderships can These leadership styles

(01:55):
can help you grow as a leader or better understand
the leaders around you. So in today's podcast, I'll be
talking about the various type of leadership styles and if
you are a leader tuning in, then this episode will
definitely help you to identify and reflect on your own

(02:16):
leadership style. And if you're planning to be a leader,
then this episode will help you to find out what
kind of style are you going to take. Number one
is autocratic leadership. In this style, the leader is only
concerned with the output. He's not concerned about how the

(02:40):
result is delivered. He just wants he just wants result
to be delivered on time. The primary focus of the
leader here is the efficiency and the time. Autocratic leaders
make the decision alone and want their employee to follow them.

(03:01):
They don't expect any input or anything out of the box,
any idea, any creative, any creativity, any innovation from the team.
They just do what is instructed. And these leaders are confident,
motivated and they as i Elier say said, they are

(03:22):
they feel more comfortable in following instructions. They love working
in structured environment. Now, with this leadership style, the targets
are met, the productivity is high, but the challenge with
this style is that the employees might be more prone

(03:43):
to stress. Additionally, with the lack of flexibility, it makes
things even more difficult. The next I have here is
bureau critic leadership. Under this leadership, each employee has its
own set of duties and responsibilities, and the leader doesn't

(04:06):
expect from employee for any creativity or any input apart
from their duties. These leaders are detail oriented, self disciplined,
and they are in They are great in work ethics,
but again this leadership restrict employees. Yes, these leaders take

(04:28):
their work very seriously, but there is no scope for
creativity with them. The third I have is coaching style.
Well as the name suggest, like a coach, these leaders
identify their team's strength and weakness and they help them
to improve and increase their motivation. They assist their team

(04:53):
member in setting goals, and they provide regular feedback to
promote growth and efficiency. These leaders are supportive and they
know the difference between between giving commands and giving direction.

(05:13):
After all these benefits, this is a good leadership style.
But this leadership style is not taken by many because
it takes a lot of time to maintain and give
guidance to each team member, which is difficult to do
when you have a deadline for your task. The next

(05:41):
I have here is Lizzie's Fair's style. It is opposite
of autocratic style. Here, the leader believes in delegating the
responsibilities and task with little or no supervision. This leadership
style can affect the productivity because the employees might get
confused to the lack of direction and there is also

(06:05):
no clarity in the expectations in this style. The employee
employees also might not feel supported because they are not
being like there is no guidance, no supervision. Uh yes,
maybe the leader can focus on other projects if he's

(06:25):
not giving attention uh to to to the current task.
I mean to the to the task in which the
employees are getting confused. But this this leadership style is employees.
The morale of the employees might might go down and

(06:46):
and as well as as I have earlier sted as
the product productivity also goes down. So before moving forward,
let's take a quick break and we will be back soon.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Welcome back listeners. So, the next leadership style I have
here is democratic leadership style and this style is the
combination of autocratic and lazisphere leadership style. In this style,
a leader expect their team to give inputs ideas before

(08:18):
they give any decision. Under this leadership, there is a
high employee engagement they create. The leader create a great
environment for a teamwork and employee also feel valued when
they are involved in a decision. But this style also
has some drawbacks, like sometimes people might share things which

(08:42):
are not useful and there are there there could be
a number of meetings just to share thoughts and feedbacks
and which might result in a lot of waste of
time and efficiency as well. The next I have here
is transferal leadership. I think it's transformational leadership. I'm sorry,

(09:07):
so it's transformational leadership. Under this leadership, the U the
leader encourages innovation and creativity, and they also inspire employees
to utilize their full potential. The leaders actively engage with
their team and offer the offer great opportunities to grow.

(09:33):
Leaders also focus on the individual personal development like individual
personal development, and they also provide guidance for their career
and their professional development as well. So all this combined
leads to a more job satisfaction and improved organizational performance.

(09:54):
But one of the challenges within this leadership is that
the employees might feel burnt out and there might be
a high level of stress because these leaders demand more. Uh.
They demand more and aim to use the employee efficiency
to the full, like one hundred percent. The next I

(10:17):
have here is UH servants style leadership. UH These UH.
These leaders might not be authoritative. They are more focused
on the wellness of their team. They uh they take
all the workload on them so that their team won't
face the burn and they are more more of a

(10:39):
people first mindset. They believe that when the team member
feel fulfilled UH, they are more productive. Such leaders often
earn a lot of respect UH. Like such leaders often
earn a lot of respect and loyalty. They cultivate a
trust and uh and if worked properly, they create future

(11:03):
future leaders. The challenge here with this leadership style is
the leader might face the burnout situation here and he can,
like the leader, can get very stressed out. The next
is visionary leadership. Now, this is the last one I
have here, and as the name suggests, this leadership is

(11:25):
all about setting long term goals and working towards the
working towards that goal with others. These leaders are optimistic,
forward thinking, motivational, and they offer a clear pathways to
achieve goals well. The biggest challenge with this leadership is

(11:46):
that sometimes while looking at the big picture, they might forget,
or they might they might not focus or keep their
attention in the current details, or they might lose some
important important task. Which is which which? Which is? Which

(12:09):
they should focus on like current and which they should
focus now rather than thinking about a big picture? If
I should, if I can put it correctly, so yes,
So these are the eight leadership styles that I have
I would like to repeat them against. So number one
is autocratic leadership. Number two is bureaucratic leadership. Number three

(12:33):
is coaching leadership. For this Lazisphere style. Then it is
democratic leadership, then transformational leadership, the next the second last
servant style leadership, and the last one is visionary leadership.
So these were the eight types of leadership style that
we discussed today in our episode. And remember no single

(12:56):
leadership style fits every situation. The key to adapt yourself
based on your team's need and the nature of your industry.
That's all for today's episode. I hope you found it
helpful and insightful. Thank you so much for tuning in,
Stay away, stay empowered, and keep growing as a leader.
Thank you so much.
