Author and historian Bill Federer from the American Minute walks us through the historical record of the Revolutionary War and God's providential hand on George Washington and the Colonists fighting for their independence from Great Britain. Their reliance upon God is reflected in the statement by Patrick Henry:

 “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists. But by Christians, not on religion but on the gospel of Jesus Christ.”    

In celebration of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of our nation, John Adams wrote the following to his wife, Abigail:

"I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."
