The suit claims the suspension during the government shutdown unlawfully denies food aid to 1 in 8 U.S. residents. Benefits remain paused until the shutdown ends or a court intervenes.

3. Gaza Ceasefire Resumes After Deadly Israeli Strikes

Israel resumed its ceasefire in Gaza on October 29, 2025, after overnight airstrikes killed 104 people, including 46 children, in response to Hamas returning partial hostage remains. Prime Minister Netanyahu called the act a “clear violation” of the October 10 truce requiring full hostage returns. The strikes were the deadliest since the ceasefire began.

4. RSF Seizes Full Control of Darfur

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) captured el-Fasher, the last Sudanese army stronghold in Darfur, on October 27, 2025, gaining full control of the region. The conflict has killed over 40,000 and displaced 14 million, creating the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. The UN reported hundreds killed, including hospital patients, during the takeover.

Heavenly Father,
We come before You with heavy hearts, seeking Your mercy in a world torn by storms and strife. For Jamaica and Cuba battered by Hurricane Melissa, we pray for Your shelter over the vulnerable, strength for rescuers, and swift recovery from floods and loss, that Your peace may calm the winds, waters, and fearful hearts.

Lord, we lift up the millions of Americans who depend on SNAP funding, as it hangs in limbo; provide for the needy, guide lawmakers to justice, and open doors of provision for every table.

For the violence in Gaza and Sudan—where airstrikes have claimed lives and paramilitary forces seized cities, leaving thousands dead and millions displaced—we cry out for Your intervention. Bring an end to bloodshed, heal the wounded, protect the defenseless, and raise up leaders who choose peace over power.

In your name, Jesus, we pray.
