NASA Layoffs, Walmart Terror, and the Murder of a Pastor

Good morning, everyone. Today is July 28, 2025. Some of these stories include acts of violence. Listener discretion is advised, if you’re traveling with kiddos. We start with:

1. ​ NASA will lose about 3,870 employees through voluntary resignations, reducing its workforce from 18,000 to 14,000. The cuts come amid Trump’’s federal downsizing initiative. The massive workforce reduction threatens NASA's ongoing missions and risks loss of critical expertise. Scientists and engineers are considering leaving the US altogether, while protesters warn of potential safety risks and program cancellations.

1. ​ Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea said Bradford James Gille faces one count of terrorism and eleven counts of assault with intent to murder, for his Walmart stabbing spree on he was taken down within minutes by bystanders, two of them marines. He could face life in prison if sentenced on all charges.

1. ​ My most disturbing story for today is about Adam Sheafe, who confessed in a June interview with Fox 10, to murdering and crucifying Pastor Bill Schoneman of New River Bible Chapel in Arizona back in April of this year. Police apprehended Sheafe in Sedona, en route to kill a Catholic priest. Sheafe had planned to kill 14 more Christian ministers, with the belief that Christian churches were leading people astray by teaching them to follow Jesus, whom he says is a false god. The case is still under review. 

I had a hard time falling asleep after reading that last story. Let’s pray.
