🗞️ National Affairs

President Donald Trump made an unannounced visit to the Federal Reserve this week, where he publicly clashed with Fed Chair Jerome Powell. The disagreement, captured on camera, centered around the costs of a building renovation and rising interest rates. The moment marked a rare—and very public—intervention by a president into the traditionally independent operations of the central bank.

🌊 National Tragedy

In Texas, the death toll has risen to at least 96 people following catastrophic flooding over Independence Day weekend. Among the missing are campers and counselors from Camp Mystic, a beloved summer retreat now marred by grief. Search and recovery operations continue. The community remains in mourning as officials work to understand how the flooding became so deadly so quickly.

🕊️ Foreign Affairs – Gaza

Ceasefire negotiations between the U.S., Israel, and Hamas have broken down. Both Western delegations have withdrawn, accusing Hamas of obstructing meaningful progress. Meanwhile, France has announced its plans to officially recognize Palestinian statehood, a move expected to add diplomatic pressure in the region.

🚨 Foreign Affairs – Southeast Asia

Military conflict along the Thailand–Cambodia border has intensified. Skirmishes between the two nations have now displaced over 58,000 people. The U.S. Embassy has issued alerts, urging Americans in the area to take caution and consider evacuation routes.

🌡️ Health & Safety

Nearly 90 million Americans across 18 states—including right here in Tennessee—are under heat advisories. Meteorologists are calling it one of the most dangerous heatwaves in recent memory. Health officials are urging the public to stay indoors when possible, hydrate regularly, and avoid alcohol, which can worsen dehydration in these extreme conditions.
