Scientists found that nanoplastics can penetrate zebrafish through water and food, accumulating in organs and potentially affecting growth and reproduction. The study, published in Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology, revealed that nanoplastics quickly spread in the body, accumulating in vital tissues mainly through the gills and intestines. Researchers also created a computer model to understand nanoplastic behavior in fish and potentially in mammals.
