Research suggests that adults with atrial fibrillation and obesity who take metformin may experience fewer AFib episodes after ablation. While weight loss was not the main reason for improvement, metformin showed promising results in reducing irregular heart rhythms. Future studies may further explore metformin's effectiveness compared to other diabetes medications in treating individuals with obesity and AFib.
