Speaker 1 (00:02):
You are listening to
New Vision, old Ways, the
podcast that explores timelesswisdom for the modern mind in a
fun, relaxed and, most important, interactive way with you, the
listener.
I am your host, tony Marinaccio, and let's get the episode
started.
Welcome to another greatepisode of the New Vision, old
Ways podcast and, as always, Iam your host, tony Marinaccio,
(00:26):
and I am so happy you decided tojoin me on a very special look
at what may be the key tounlocking your superpower, and
that's the control over yoursubconscious mind.
It is a difficult concept tograsp that we all have that part
of our brain that lingers inthe background, controlling our
moods, our behaviors, ouroutlook on life, but it's very
(00:47):
much there, and most of us don'trealize how incredibly
important the subconscious mindreally is, because we are
continuously distracted by amyriad of things that cause us
to not only ignore theimportance of the subconscious
mind, but most of the time wejust keep feeding it all the
wrong things, which triggers thesubconscious, to feed our
conscious mind with onlynegative information, causing
(01:10):
many of the mental health issuesthat we see today.
So in this episode, I want tolook at the important connection
between our subconscious andour conscious minds and how we
can in fact improve thatconnection and change our lives,
unlocking strengths and powerswe never realized we had because
we were so caught up in thenegative world we were living in
.
We all have powers that we havenot tapped into yet, and it's
(01:32):
about time that we unleash thebest us that we can, and that's
what we are about to do today.
So, without further ado, let'sstart the last episode of Season
3, episode 30, the SubconsciousMind Unlocking your Hidden
Superpower.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
While the conscious
mind acts directly, the
subconscious works silently, affecting every one of your
movements, often diverting thecourse of your intentions,
without you even realizing it.
Now imagine what it would belike to align these two forces,
combining the power of yourconscious mind with the immense
(02:09):
potential of your subconscious.
What could happen if, insteadof being like a ship adrift,
your intentions and actionsbecame a single, coordinated
flow?
Understanding this connectionand achieving this alignment may
be the secret to a life ofharmony and fulfillment, where
your decisions and emotions worktogether in sync.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
There is a great
quote from James Clear.
He said anxiety is thoughtwithout control, flow is control
without thought.
I'll repeat that Anxiety isthought without control, flow is
control without thought.
It's a very importantdistinction, and one that forms
the basis for what I will bediscussing today the power of
(02:52):
the subconscious mind.
Of course, the first thing Ishould do is define what the
subconscious mind really is.
We could define it as the partof the mind that controls
automatic actions and processesinformation without conscious
thought.
It's involved in many aspectsof life, including learning,
memory and behavior.
It stores beliefs and values.
(03:12):
It also monitors informationfrom the senses and decides what
to send to the conscious mind.
With that definition, we couldclearly see that our
subconscious mind may be themost valuable tool we have, yet
many of us for lack of a betterphrase never give it a second
thought.
Today's science estimates that95% of our brain's activity is
(03:34):
unconscious, meaning that themajority of the decisions we
make, the actions we take, ouremotions and behaviors depend on
the 95% of the brain activitythat lies beyond conscious
awareness.
So, knowing that it begs thequestion, why are we not paying
close attention to the health ofour subconscious mind?
It certainly seems that we arecompletely neglecting the one
(03:57):
thing that could change ourlives for the better Our mind
health, and, more specifically, our subconscious mind.
Health should be a top priorityat all times and, as I stated
in the last episode, which wasabout dark psychology, our
collective mental and emotionalhealth is at an all-time low, so
it would be logical to thinkthat there is no better time in
history to get our minds healthy, strong and powerful so we can
(04:20):
not only avoid depression, anxiety and stress, but, even
more importantly, so we can liveour best lives and unlock those
powers we never realized we had.
And that's what we are about todo.
A way to think of thesubconscious mind is to imagine
you are in a car cruising downthe highway.
You're in control of thesteering wheel, deciding where
(04:42):
to go and what speed to go at,but there is also something else
happening A co-pilot sittingquietly in the passenger seat,
observing everything around you, keeping track of where you've
been, offering little insightsor nudges from time to time,
influencing how you react tovarious driving situations based
on your past experience.
That's a way to think about thesubconscious mind.
(05:05):
It's like a co-pilot that isalways there 24-7.
It never really rests at all, processing information.
You're not consciously aware ofeven the tiniest details about
the world that your consciousmind might overlook.
The best part it's always readyto act on what you have
programmed into it, whether youknow it or not.
(05:25):
And here is where it all comesback to.
Are we controlling our brain,or is our brain, usually with
the help of outside dark forces, controlling us?
This is where we need to make adeliberate and conscious choice
to take the control of ourbrain, our thoughts and our
actions back, and only we can dothat.
No one can do it for us.
(05:46):
Let's look at it this way weare all living out some kind of
story.
The question is who's writingthe story?
You or an unhealthysubconscious mind filled with
negative experiences and habits?
We have the power to controlwho's writing our story and
train our subconscious to feedour conscious mind with positive
and healthy messages that willempower us to live our lives the
(06:08):
way we desire.
We have to be purposeful increating our own narrative.
This will allow us to tap intoour subconscious and give it the
positive information it needs.
Imagine that your life is amovie and you're the protagonist
.
How do you want your story tounfold?
The subconscious mind loves tooperate through stories.
It's how we make sense of theworld, how we relate to others
(06:29):
and how we understand our placein it.
But often we let old, limitingstories run the show, stories
that were passed down to us orones that we created long ago
based on our fears of pastexperiences.
So what happens if we startrewriting the script?
What if we, instead of lettingthe subconscious pull from old
scripts of struggle andlimitations, you intentionally
(06:51):
begin writing a new story, astory where you overcome
obstacles, embrace change andachieve what you desire?
You will be surprised howquickly your subconscious starts
picking up on those newnarratives and begins playing
them out in your daily life.
It's like programming a GPS toguide you down a new, more
fulfilling path.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
The subconscious mind
stores every significant memory
, from the most remarkablemoments to those that seem
trivial.
Unlike the conscious mind, which focuses on the immediate
present, the subconscious mindis always active, processing and
storing information far beyondyour conscious perception.
This includes the emotions youfeel when facing a challenging
(07:36):
situation, the beliefs you havedeveloped over the years about
what is possible or not, and thehabits you repeat without
thinking, shaped by internalpatterns that you may not always
understand.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Reality tells us that
rewriting our story is not as
easy as it sounds.
Why, well, our subconsciousmind has an incredible ability
to store everything weexperience, from the everyday
moments to the most significantevents in our lives, both the
good and the bad.
Our subconscious holds on tothem.
When those memories areassociated with trauma, fear,
(08:10):
rejection or pain, they canbecome deeply embedded in our
subconscious, affecting ourthoughts, emotions and behaviors
for years.
When we experience somethingemotionally charged, whether
positive or negative, theemotional intensity of that
moment makes it more likely tobe stored in our subconscious.
This process is part of how thebrain helps us make sense of
(08:30):
the world, protecting us fromthe dangers or remembering a
joyful experience to possiblyrepeat it.
Painful or traumatic events getstored with a heightened
intensity, often because thebrain associates them with
danger or survival.
This is the body's way ofprotecting itself remembering
the hurtful event to avoidsimilar experiences in the
(08:50):
future.
The issue arises when thosememories, especially the
negative ones, are not processedor healed.
Instead, they get stuck in oursubconscious mind, where they
can influence our thoughts, behaviors and emotions in ways
that could further hurt us.
Without us even realizing it,subconscious memories can shape
the beliefs we hold aboutourselves and the world.
If you've experiencedabandonment, betrayal or abuse
(09:14):
of the past, your subconsciousmind might develop core beliefs
like I am not worthy of love orpeople will always leave me.
These beliefs can influence howyou approach relationships,
work and life choices.
These limiting beliefs oftenfeel like truths, even if they
are only rooted in pastexperiences.
Your subconscious mind willcontinue to operate as though
(09:36):
these beliefs are facts, creating a cycle of
self-sabotage or fear-baseddecision-making.
Emotions tied to past trauma canmanifest physically.
For example, a person withunresolved grief or anxiety may
experience chronic tension, fatigue, digestive problems or
sleep disturbances.
The subconscious mind's refusalto process or release past pain
(10:00):
can trigger a constant state ofstress, leading to a number of
health issues Moving beyond thepresent.
The unresolved pain stored inthe subconscious mind doesn't
just impact how you react today.
It also influences your abilityto move forward in life by
giving you a fear of change, afear of failure, difficulty in
building healthy relationships,a feeling of life being stagnant
(10:21):
and unfulfilling.
To complicate matters even more, our subconscious mind gets
battered daily with informationoverload from the intense
digital world that we live in,never giving us a chance to
clear our thoughts andconcentrating on the story of
our lives that we so badly wantto rewrite.
Instead, we are scrolling, looking at and listening to
(10:42):
information that, in most cases, causing our minds to weaken and
get overtaken by the darkpsychology of the manipulators I
spoke about in the last episode.
Every moment of our lives canbe punctuated with notifications
, social media feeds, instantaccess to information and an
ever-growing stream of digitalstimuli.
It's like a flood of dataconstantly washing over us, and
(11:04):
the storm affects the deepestlayers of our minds, our
subconscious.
We cannot let the informationoverload cause our attention to
get completely fragmented.
If this happens, it can thencause self-doubt that permeates
our minds.
It stops us from being able tofind positive thoughts.
Instead, our minds areprogrammed with every negative
(11:25):
thing imaginable, and movingforward in our lives becomes
almost impossible.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
It's also the
everyday moments, the
notifications you check, theheadlines you read briefly and
the ads you see in passing.
These brief instances ofinfluence build up day after day
, like water droplets, sculptingstone, shaping you into a
version of reality that isn'ttruly yours.
But this scenario isn't justabout influence.
(11:55):
It's about complete domination.
With every moment they captureyour attention, they're
redesigning who you are.
You didn't opt for this, butthe good news is you don't have
to accept it any longer.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
So by now we know how
important our subconscious mind
is and how it can get corruptedin our modern world.
We want to rewrite our story, but we haven't been able to.
So how do we combat thesenegative effects and begin to
reclaim our subconscious mind?
Let's start with a digitaldetox.
This does not mean I amsuggesting abandoning technology
(12:30):
entirely.
It's more about settingboundaries to protect your
mental space.
Try designing phone-free hoursduring the day, especially with
your kids, If you have them.
They may need this more thananyone.
Try designing specific times tocheck social media or even
emails.
This concept can give yoursubconscious mind a chance to
recalibrate and stop absorbingthe senseless garbage that
(12:52):
pollutes our minds.
I've said it before, but it'sthe old saying, garbage in,
garbage out, and it's never moretruer than right now.
And if you are truly courageous, try taking a full day off from
screens of any kind no phones, computers or gaming, no TV and
allow your mind to be completelypresent.
(13:13):
Replace the screen time withcreative hobbies reading,
meditating and getting in touchwith your inner self, which is a
direct line to yoursubconscious.
This can be an incredible timeto start the rewriting of your
story.
Mindfulness meditation is one ofthe most effective ways to
combat the constant barrage ofstimuli.
By learning to be present, youcan start to filter out the
(13:35):
noise and become more aware ofthe subconscious patterns that
digital media is influencing.
Practicing meditation or deepbreathing exercises allow you to
quiet the constant chatter andget in touch with your inner
self.
Over time, mindfulness helpsyou regain control over the
subconscious mind, empoweringyou to choose your mental and
(13:55):
emotional responses instead ofreacting automatically from
deep-rooted negative experiencesthat your subconscious relied
upon in the past.
The subconscious mind ishabit-based and, if we go back
to episode 15, where I spokeabout your thoughts and words
and how they manifest who youbecome, negative self-talk will
manifest negative things in yourlife.
(14:17):
Positive self-talk willmanifest positive things in your
life.
Your subconscious can work inboth arenas, the negative and
the positive, so reprogrammingyour subconscious mind with
positive input is key.
Your subconscious mind thriveson repetition, so why not
replace negative patterns withpositive ones?
Use the skills I have touchedon in previous episodes, like
(14:40):
positive affirmations, guidedvisualizations, also known as
guided meditation, the relaxingtechnique that involves
picturing positive images orscenarios in your mind.
The goal is to help you feelcalm and relaxed, reducing
stress, anxiety and pain, providing an overall sense of
well-being.
You could try positive media, whether it's podcasts, like the
(15:03):
one you're listening to now, orbooks, videos that reinforce
positive beliefs and actions.
The more you introduce yoursubconscious to empowering
content, the more it will startreflecting those beliefs and
behaviors right back to you.
The digital age is not goinganywhere, but we have the
ability to decide how it affectsus and our subconscious.
(15:25):
We have the power to takecontrol of what we let in by
becoming mindful of the contentwe consume, by setting
boundaries around digital useand reprogramming our
subconscious with intention, wecan harness the power of
technology to support our mentaland emotional health.
Instead of letting it controlus, we control it and we can
(15:46):
then break the addiction.
It can be done for sure.
Now, at this point, I thinkit's important to ask how can we
be sure we are reprogrammingour subconscious the way we
desire, so we can get back towriting our new story and have
the confidence to move forward?
Well, there are some greattelltale signs we need to
recognize that will let us knowwe are on the right track.
(16:07):
One of the most noticeable signsthat we have successfully
reprogrammed our subconscious iswe will notice a shift in our
thought patterns, the way wethink about ourselves and our
circumstances and the worldaround us will start to change.
For example, if you have beenworking on overcoming self-doubt
, you might notice that yourinternal dialogue is more
encouraging.
You will stop hearing thatinner critic telling you that
(16:30):
you are not good enough andinstead you will begin to
believe that you can handlechallenges with confidence.
When you think more positivelyabout yourself or a situation,
that's a big indicator that yoursubconscious has started to
adapt a new, empowering belief.
Another noticeable thing willbe that your behaviors will
change.
Your actions will now reflectyour new beliefs.
(16:52):
Behaviors are often the clearestreflection of the subconscious
reprogramming.
If you've been working onreprogramming your mind to adapt
healthier habits, you willstart seeing those habits show
up naturally in your everydaylife.
For example, someone working onovercoming procrastination
might find themselves tacklingtasks with more ease and less
resistance, and what you'relooking for here is effortless
(17:14):
action.
When you stop forcing yourselfto make positive changes and
instead they begin to feel morenatural, that means you have
successfully reprogrammed yoursubconscious.
Another example can be that ifyou have been working on being
more disciplined, with timeyou'll find that you no longer
need to remind yourself to stickto a schedule.
Your subconscious mind hasinternalized the behavior and
(17:35):
now it just happens.
Another way to know that youhave reprogrammed your
subconscious mind is that youremotional reactions start to
shift as well.
For example, if you've beenworking on letting go of anger
or frustration, you might noticethat you no longer react as
intensely in situations thatwould have triggered a much
stronger and destructive emotionbefore.
The emotional regulation comesfrom the subconscious, adapting
(17:58):
to new beliefs and strategiesfor managing emotions, and you
no longer feel overwhelmed orout of control when things do
not go as planned.
Your emotional responses aremore balanced, calm and measured
.
The emotional mastery is astrong sign that your
subconscious has been rewiredfor resilience and inner peace.
If you have struggled withnegative self-talk before, now,
(18:21):
with your subconsciousreprogrammed, you can now catch
yourself starting to think aself-critical thought and
immediately replace it withsomething positive.
This awareness is like a mentalalert system that keeps you
aligned with your newprogramming and it shows you are
successfully retraining yoursubconscious mind.
Other areas that will exposehow well you have reprogrammed
(18:42):
your mind will include thingslike you will be less resistant
to change.
Change can scare people, especially when they are not in
control of it.
But reprogramming your mind tobelieve that change is necessary
and, in many cases, excitingpart of life will ease that fear
and allow you to see thepossibilities instead of the
worry and the fear youconcentrated on before.
(19:03):
You will find that if you havestruggled in the past with
relationships, you will havereprogrammed your mind to be
more understanding of others, tosee the good in people and to
not envy what others have.
You will find that you willattract the right people into
your life and you can nowappreciate what they bring to
the table.
And you will now be able to letthose relationships grow and
become strong when before theymight have had no chance to
(19:26):
begin at all.
Your reality will now start toreflect your new beliefs.
Ultimately, the true sign ofsuccessfully reprogramming your
mind will be that your outerreality begins to reflect your
inner beliefs.
You'll notice that thesituations, people and
opportunities you encounter willnow more align closely with
your new mindset and goals.
(19:46):
What I have tried to do,especially in season three, is
to show how using the concepts Ihave gone over in all of the
episodes can and will tietogether.
There are concepts that maywork for some of you and others
may gravitate to other concepts, the key is our minds, our lives
, our future is worth the effortand we can be in control of all
(20:06):
of that.
I don't care what educationlevel you have, we can all do
this.
Our lives are worth the effort.
Experimenting with differenttechniques make it fun.
Enjoy the fact that you are nowtaking control and not letting
the people or environments ormedia control us.
Knowledge is power and our mindsare powerful machines that need
(20:27):
practice, positive influenceand, most of all, our minds need
to know who's in charge.
Show your mind who's the bossand never let it forget it.
Reprogramming the subconsciousmind is a journey, not a quick
fix.
It's a process of realigningyour beliefs, behaviors and
emotions with your true desires, and as you go through this
(20:48):
process, the signs of successwill begin to show up, Often in
subtle and profound ways.
These signs are evidence thatyour subconscious has been
successfully reprogrammed.
But you need patience, consistency and intentional
effort.
Again, knowledge is power.
Try reading great books like theJoe Barnes-authored Escape the
System, the Rebel Code and thePersonal Freedom Manifesto.
(21:10):
Or try books like by Ryan BushBecome who you Are and, my
personal favorite, Designing theMind.
How about a book like this?
Book Will Make you Dangerous?
By Tripp Lanier.
Or even how about the bookDon't Believe Everything you
Think by Joseph Wynn.
These are just a few of themany books that can help you
realize your dreams and rewireyour mind and make it the
(21:30):
powerhouse it should be.
So what superpower do you havethat's hiding in your
subconscious, just waiting to beunleashed?
Isn't it time you dig in andfind it?
What a game changer it will be.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
The more you practice
positive affirmations,
visualizations, meditation andother healing techniques, the
more your subconscious mindbegins to reprogram itself and
adopt these new patterns as yourreality.
On this path of transformation,it is essential to celebrate
small victories.
We often focus only on bigresults and forget to value the
(22:06):
small steps we take along theway.
But each progress, no matterhow small, represents an
achievement.
Recognizing and celebratingthese moments strengthens
internal motivation andreinforces that the path you
have chosen is working.
This in turn reinforces theconsistency needed for the two
(22:27):
minds to align more easily.
Small progress, like noticing achange in attitude or a more
balanced emotional response tochallenges, are clear signs that
the subconscious is beingreprogrammed.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Yes, celebrate any
and all progress you make, and I
hope that listening to thispodcast will help you with that
progress.
And, as I stated many times, Ibelieve in helping people up,
not keeping them down anddependent.
That is what the first threeseasons of this podcast has
mainly concentrated on, with somuch more to come.
Season four is soon on thehorizon and I want to start that
(23:04):
season with a number ofepisodes on unlocking your
creative mind, no matter whatyour circumstances are.
It's going to be a season thatwill show proof positive that we
haven't even scratched thesurface on what our minds are
capable of.
It will be fantastic, and Iwant all of you to join me on
the journey.
It will be fun and excitingbecause we will start to see the
fruits of our labor, the workwe have put into rewiring our
(23:27):
minds and reaching our innerself and healing ourselves and
realizing we are in control.
It's our lives and we are goingto start living like never
before, and soon we will unlockour creative forces and look out
.
Nothing will be able to stopour mental growth and strength.
A lot to look forward to, forsure.
So I thank all of you for asuccessful and fun first three
