Our guest in today’s episode is Chris Bergeron, Author of the newly published book: Valide and Vice-President of Content Experience at Cossette in Montreal.
Chris started her career as a columnist and contributed to major media outlets such as La Presse, Radio-Canada, and became editor in chief of the most predominant cultural magazine in Québec- VOIR. She then made the jump in advertising, working as Creative Director for major Fortune 500 Brands in Canada. Recently, she was appointed Vice-President of Content Experience at Cossette.
Chris spent the first 40 years of her life as a heterosexual man. Several years ago, she started living her true self and came out as a Trans woman.
Belonging to a visible sexual minority profoundly changed her view of the role of women in the workplace. She also claims to have lost the corporate privilege that previously came when being a man in a leadership position.
Chris actively promotes diversity, inclusion, and the rights of transgender people by sharing her story on the public stage. And as of early 2021, Chris published her first novel, which delves into her trans identity, using a futuristic science fiction thriller as a backdrop.
In this episode, we discuss her career trajectory, the obstacles she faced along the way, how leaders can help change unconscious bias in the workplace and society.
