(00:00):
Guys, the key to wide receiver fantasy football success from
year to year is consistent high end target volume.
A lot of wide receivers in the middle of fantasy drafts are
(00:23):
earning targets, yet they're notbeing drafted with the wide
receiver ones of the world. So today we're going to look at
guys who are going in those middle rounds who could finish.
And honestly, some of them have finished as top 12 wide
receivers for fantasy football based on targets alone.
At the end of the episode, I'm going to take you through a mock
draft where I go RB heavy early, tight end, things like that.
(00:46):
And we're going to try to bolster and boost our wide
receiver position with some of these mid round alpha target
earners. So the first guy on the list, to
the surprise of no one in my opinion, should this should be a
household name for fantasy at this point is Jacoby Myers
averaged 9 plus targets per gameweeks 3 through 18 last season.
(01:06):
Only 13 wide receivers hit that mark.
Obviously Myers was one of them.Nine of them.
Nine of the 13 finished as top 12 fantasy football wide
receivers, and Myers was not. I wonder why.
We've talked about this in some previous episodes, but three
reasons off the top of my head are Aidan O'Connell, Gardner
Minshew, and Desmond Ritter. Three of the worst QBs I've ever
(01:28):
seen play the game of football. Truly an abomination for fantasy
football teams everywhere. OK, anyway, God, I just get
bothered by them. But yeah, Geno Smith is in town
and he's going to feed targets to Myers just like he did JSN in
2024. Fueled JSN to a top 12 wide
receiver finish and Myers is going to, in my opinion, finish
(01:51):
very similarly. I, I, I haven't projected as a
top 20 wide receiver, I don't see any reasons why I wouldn't
be. OK so next guy on our list,
target monster Josh Downs last season with a healthy QB weeks 4
through 11. OK, that's when he was fully
healthy. That's when his QB was fully
healthy regardless of who it is.15.8 fantasy points per game. 8
(02:12):
plus targets per game, that is wide receiver, one fantasy
football output and he scored asthat during that time span.
And you know, that's almost two months.
That is 2 months of gameplay. They're pretty awesome.
So this season I think he's going to be the wide receiver
one for the team. He's earning targets at a higher
rate than Michael Pittman. His skill set favors higher
targets, higher target volume I should say, than Michael
(02:33):
Pittman. And Daniel Jones loves his guys
over the middle close to the line of scrimmage.
Wandell Robinson, for example, was averaging at 1.10 plus
targets per game for a month or two there last season.
Truly insane. We were all wondering if
Wandale, OK, Wandale Robinson was going to be a top 20 wide
receiver and he was honestly, hewas very good.
Daniel Jones is there and he's going to do the same thing with
(02:53):
Josh Downs. So for PPR, outside the top 100
picks, we got to be all over Josh Downs.
Now Marquis Brown is the third guy on this list, so only played
two games last season. He missed the whole season due
to injury, but when he came backtwo games, he played 34% of
snaps across those two games on average.
So not much of an average, only two data points.
(03:15):
But yes, he played 34% of snaps,so not many.
And he averaged 7.5 targets per game in those two games.
So 15 total targets in two gamesyou could say.
And I divide that by two, 7 1/2 targets per game, but again,
only on 1/3 of snaps. Now, I understand that since he
was coming back from injury, theteam only put him out there and
(03:35):
say, hey, you're getting the ball.
This play, right when he was outthere, he got it.
They were easing him back in. But that tells me that he is a
valuable part to the KC offense. His QB is very good.
Obviously is a guy by the name of Patrick Mahomes, who's solid,
definitely good, good QB. And yeah, I look at the roster,
I see Rashi Rice, I see Travis Kelce, and I see Xavier Worthy.
(03:58):
I see a lot of weapons, but I also see Marquis Brown, who in
an offense, it's going to see 40passes thrown per game, most
likely from AQB who's saying that he wants to throw it, air
it out more. I, I have no problem believing
that Marquis Brown can get sevenof those targets a game and he's
going in like the 12th round guys.
So for targets solely based on targets, I'm in on Marquis
Brown. Every time we've seen him
(04:19):
healthy with a healthy QB, he's been a top 20 receiver.
And it sounds crazy, but it's true.
We just haven't seen it for like2 years, but 3-4 years ago with
Kyler in Arizona, he was a wide receiver, one for it a full
season there his first year in Arizona.
So we got to be in on Marquis Brown, a true sleeper.
And now here's a guy who is who is a household name and when it
(04:42):
comes to fantasy football, target monsters and that is
Chris Godwin. Simply put, guys, he's one of
the best wide receivers in fantasy when healthy 2024.
Last year he got injured week seven week 8, but before that
per game, 19.7 fantasy points, those top 4 and 9 plus targets
per game. You're noticing this 9 plus
targets per game is a magic number.
(05:03):
I'll remind you from when we talked about Myers of the wide
receivers who hit that, OK, 13 wide receivers hit 9 targets per
game, nine of them. It's a very high percentage
where wide receiver one's top 12guys at the end of the year and
the ones who weren't like Myers for example.
There are reasons. There are you see reasons, OK,
(05:23):
Chris Godwin guys, consistent catch volume, a value pick again
in drafts. Jerry Judy is as the next guy in
the list who last year really showed that he can earn targets.
He's finally getting some respect.
He deserves in drafts. One of only 7 wide receivers to
average 10 plus targets per gameweeks 8 through 18.
I mean, that's 11 weeks, fellas.11 weeks of 10 plus targets per
(05:46):
game. For reference, most in the NFL
was Malik neighbors with 11 per game, and then it was a whole
bunch of guys with 10 plus targets per game.
Jerry Judy was one of them alongside guys Drake London,
Malik Neighbors. Obviously I just mentioned
Devante Adams, Jamar, Chase, Puku, Nakua, CD Lamb.
Target earners, target earners. You need to be targeting guys
(06:06):
who earn targets in drafts. Jerry Judy, if he's earning with
those guys should be on your team there.
Outside of the top 7060 picks, where he's going right now, he's
locked in as the Browns wider super one.
In terms of sheer volume. I do think Tillman is a great
pick. He's not even getting drafted
right now. And Deonte Johnson, forget about
it, I'm out forever. OK, Judy is a very intriguing
(06:29):
pick here in drafts. Now, next guy, potentially final
guy on the list here before we get into the mock draft is
Courtland Sutton. You might not realize it, but I
alluded to it a little bit before.
He already is a top 12 wide receiver, a wide receiver one
for fantasy last year, final 10 games of the season, 9 plus
targets. There's that number again. 9
plus targets in eight of those 10 games, 18 fantasy points per
(06:52):
game was wide receiver, 7RD widereceiver.
One minimal target competition. And I'm just confused why he's
going 50th overall in drafts, right?

Let's get into the mock draft now.
We're going to go RB heavy here.I'm going to start the draft,
see where we end up for draft order and we are 9th overall.
So if you guys are listening on Spotify, I'll do my best to
outline the board for you how these as these picks reel off.
But again, you guys TuneIn on YouTube, that's where it's at.
(07:35):
You can see the entire board here.
So the the plan is we're talkingabout wide receivers that earn
targets and they can make that jump to wide receiver ones.
Let's try to capitalize a bit onthat volume potentially in a
very extreme way. I'm really going to go RB heavy
here, early tight end, things like that and see where it gets
us. So we're 9th overall, Devon, a
(07:56):
chance on the board, Gente's on the board, Mccaffrey's on the
board. And for me, it's Gente.
For me to pick here at 9th overall is Gente.
Very simply with Gente, he is going to get 80 percent, 90% of
the opportunities in that backfield.
Pete Carroll wants to give them to him.
They have the most vacated running back opportunities of
any team in the NFL do the Raiders.
So yeah, Gente at one O 9 is a value and I'm just going to keep
(08:19):
looking at the running back screen here.
A chance on the board. Christian McCaffrey, one of them
is probably coming home for tight end.
Bowers is still on the board. Interesting.
OK. I thought Bowers would be gone
because his ADP is 13. So we might draft Bowers here.
Yeah, we we might draft Bowers here because there's no way
(08:39):
we're getting McBride. Yeah, we're probably not getting
McBride and let's just draft Bowers.
So we have Gentie and Bowers. Now.
If it was real life, I would have gone McCaffrey or a Chan
there. But for the purpose of an
example, right, let's say you ended up with Jamir Gibbs or
Derrick Henry. If you favor Henry over Gentie
in round one and Bowers was there and you're trying to
(09:02):
capitalize on these mid round water super values, that's the
example we're going to roll with.
OK, so again, wouldn't it be going radar and radar on my
first two picks? But we're going to do it right
now. So in round three, we're going
to go back to Arby's and there'sa guy on the board who is a
clear value amongst the others. His name is Kyron Williams.
I prefer him over Ken Walker, Alvin Kamara, Joe Mixon and
(09:23):
Marion Hampton. We'll take Kyron.
OK, so we got the start out of the way where we're kind of just
getting to these value wide receivers, if you will.
We have Gentie Bowers and Kyron.Let's take a look at the wide
receiver board and here we go. OK, here we go.
Rashi Rice. Courtland Sutton.
DK Metcalf on the board, three names I absolutely love in
(09:45):
drafts. Now I'm going to take Rashe
Rice. And those of you listening will
say, well, yeah, he won't be there in the fourth round.
No problem. If he's there in the third, I
love him there too. And guess what?
If Rashe wasn't here right now, Courtland Sutton would be on the
team. Or DK Metcalf, who is a guy we
didn't talk about today. But I do see him getting a ton
of targets. A ton, a ton, a ton of targets.
So Rashe Rice is our wider superone.
(10:07):
He'll be joining the team and wehave a guy now at the four O 4
and Michi Rice, who I'm looking at all of these wide receivers
drafted Nikua neighbors, London Collins, Thomas Brown, Harrison
Mclaurin, Adams Evans more all these guys.
And last year Michi Rice went healthy and in his final nine
games that he's played, his mostrecent nine games, he's been
better than jeez, 90% of those guys.
(10:29):
We just drafted him in the 4th. This is called value, OK?
This is how we draft. So this start that you're seeing
is is very realistic. You can really pull this off.
You can really pull off RB heavyearly tight end, early QB, for
example, and get these mid roundwide receivers.
So we're just going to guaranteeyou volume.
So we're back on the clock at the five O 9.
I see Mahomes on the board. I think he's a value and I'm
(10:51):
going to I'm just going to take him.
I'm just going to take Mahomes. I have Mahomes over Mayfield,
Goff, Nicks, Murray, and I just want to emphasize, ladies and
gentlemen, if this was a real draft would not be drafting like
this to start as a little crazy. But I'm just trying to go out of
my way to show you that in thesedrafts in in in a real draft,
you can find value at the wide receiver position.
(11:12):
And let's see, right? Let's put ourselves in the worst
case scenario for wide receiverslike we're doing right now where
we only have one through the 1st5 rounds and see how it comes
out based on these on these values.
So up at six O 4, I'm pretty sure we know who the pick is.
Looking at the board, Chris Godwin's on the board, Jordan
Addison's there. I prefer Godwin, Jerry Judy's
there who we just talked about. But between Godwin and Judy, I
(11:34):
am going to go Godwin and we nowhave OK Rasheed Rice and Chris
Godwin who went healthy last year.
Very few single digit wide receivers were better than those
guys. I'm drafting them in the 4th and
the 6th. We have a Mahomes, Rice stack.
We have the best tight end in all the fantasy and we have two
top ten R BS, Gentie and Williams.
(11:54):
This is an intriguing draft to say the least.
So up again in the 6th, obviously between Genti and
Chiron, right? But those two versus Rasheed
Rice and Godwin, I prefer the RBS in a vacuum.
So let's look at the wide receiver.
Let's keep keep drafting here. And there's our guy Jacoby
Myers. We have Ridley, Ayuk Myers,
(12:15):
Samuel Cup and we will be drafting Jacoby Myers for our
third Raider. Again, if this was a home league
or a league that I am putting money into to join and working
hours to earn a paycheck to pay for this, I don't know if I'm
drafting 3 Las Vegas Raiders, but again, Justin is.
As an example, we now have threeguys, Rashe Rice, Chris Godwin,
(12:37):
and Jacoby Myers who earns targets on a wide receiver one
level last year and they were none of them were our first 3
picks, which is awesome. So in the eighth now we can go
wide receiver again or we can look at running back.
Let's check out running back. I see some names I really like
Caleb Johnson and Travis Etiennefor starters.
We are in the 8th, so maybe one of those guys will be left, but
(13:00):
I'm not sure. Wide receivers, similar names I
just mentioned Samuel Cup digs, Reed, Pure, Saul and Downs is
there. What I'm going to do though is
select Travis Etienne. It was him or Caleb Johnson here
just so that we're kind of symmetrical in the team we're
building with three running backs and three wide receivers.
With that being said, coming back around now, it's almost
(13:21):
certainly going to be wide receiver in the 9th 909.
Looking at the board, not too many names here that are that
fit our list, if any, but definitely some that I enjoy
drafting. Michael Pittman and Darnell
Mooney are not two of those guys, but after that we have
Keon Coleman, Jalen McMillan, Mecca Egg Buka and Jawan
Jennings, 4 names who I mean I'mvery in on them.
(13:44):
They don't really fit the profile of elite target earners
like we talked about today. But I am going to go draft.
Keon Coleman here only played two games healthy last year
before the injury in his full time role.
Wide receiver 13 in both of those games.
Keon, welcome to the team and wehave Jalen McMillan and a Mecca
Ibuka still on the board to draft.
I'm not very happy with the running backs.
(14:05):
We can take Charbonnet, Rashad White Tank Bixby, Cam scataboo
is interesting, but I I do I do really like Tracy still.
So let's add some rookie to thisteam at the wide receiver
position and go with a mecha IGBUCA.
Maybe he can learn a thing or two from Chris Godwin here that
we drafted in the 6th, which if Godwin were to go down again, we
would see an immediate rise in value from IGBUCA.
(14:26):
So it's kind of like a mini widereceiver handcuff if you're into
handcuffing your sixth round picks, which I wouldn't advise,
but here we are nonetheless. Hollywood Browns joining the
team in the 11th. We probably could have waited 2
if two more rounds for him, but we're just going to grab him in
the 11th. Looking at the board still here,
I think Christian Kirk is a guy who I might have glossed over in
(14:48):
the episode today. But again, another target earner
and maybe we just end this one with a fun running back pick
here if I can try to find any, I'm seeing Trey Benson come to
us. Ray Davis.
Those are two names. Dylan Sampson, my #1 deep, deep
sleeper. And just for the vibes, we'll go
ahead and take Dylan Sampson, ADP of 165 overall joins the
team and that is going to conclude the draft guys.
(15:10):
So as you can see, we did not draft a wide receiver.
She's until round four. We had one wide receiver through
5 rounds. We got our second one in round
6th. This is how the team turned out.
We have the Mahomes, Rashi Rice stack at RB, we have Ashton
Genti and Kyron Williams. OK, so far pretty happy.
What if I told you we have the best tight end in fantasy, Brock
(15:32):
Bowers, and we also have Chris Godwin, Jacoby Myers, Travis
Etienne to round up the starterson the bench, Keon Coleman and
Mecca Igbuca, Hollywood Brown, Christian Kirk and Dylan
Sampson. Guys, that's going to do it for
the video. Join the discord fellas.
It's in the link in description. All of my content is there, my
rankings. You just ask me any question you
want guys, I will literally draft your team with you on
(15:53):
draft day. You're going to be like under
the table like texting someone. It's going to be me and your
league mates will be like bro, like your mom doesn't need to
know what you need for dinner. Not it's me.
You're texting me. All right, Peace.
