(00:00):
Guys, we are back with a very special video.
Today I am showing you the absolute best draft strategy for
2025 fantasy football, and this year I believe it is hero wide
(00:24):
receiver. I'm going to get into what that
means. We're going to do a full mock
draft, maybe 2 at the end of theepisode.
I know you guys really enjoy when I take you through my mind
in these drafts, but this strategy works from early pick,
mid pick, late pick, all over the board.
Doesn't matter where you are, doesn't matter how many people
are in your league, it will workfor every single league.
(00:46):
So why don't we just dive in andsee what it's all about.
So why are we doing a hero wide receiver draft strategy?
Well, the wide receiver positionthis year for 2025 fantasy
football is very deep, very deep.
I mean, in the back of round one, you have wide receiver one
overall contenders, Malik Neighbors, Nico Collins, Brian
(01:06):
Thomas, junior. I mean, you have guys who are
going to go head to head with Jamar Chase, CD Lamb, Justin
Jefferson, right? And then in the middle of your
draft, you have high ceiling wide receiver, two options.
OK, we're talking DK Metcalf, Cortland Sutton, maybe even
Rasheed Rice if he slips. So you have guys like that going
a bit later, not late, but a bitlater than round one.
OK. As for the RB position is very
(01:29):
shallow this year, it's a bit opposite of the wide receiver
position. There's only about 9 running
backs in my opinion, 10 if you include Derrick Henry, which I
know you guys like to do with RBone overall ceiling.
So it's important to draft thoseguys early, which I'll show you
how we do that round by round inthe strategy.
So also when you're doing a herowide receiver strategy, it
allows you to draft a top six tight end, a top six QB, really
(01:53):
lock in a set it and forget it once he position, right?
I'm talking a Jalen Hurts, a Trey McBride, OK?
It allows you to draft these players without reaching for
them. OK?
So let's jump in here to the strategy for round one.
So as I mentioned, we're going to go wide receiver, choose your
champion, choose your hero. OK, early picks here.
If you have an early pick, JamarChase, Justin Jefferson, CD
(02:15):
Lamb. If you're in the middle, you're
most likely looking at the Monroe St.
Brown and later in the drafts, Malik Neighbors, Nicole Collins,
Brian Thomas, junior Puka Nakua.I'm naming every single wide
receiver in round one because truly all of them are candidates
for this hero role for this typeof build.
And you'll see how it how it works from any position in the
draft. And I really want to do a couple
mock drafts if we have time today.
(02:36):
All right, so round one, wide receiver, all you need to know,
eight options here, eight options.
You have eight options to pick from.
OK, pick one of them. All right, round two, we get
into this running back value guys.
OK, so already we're seeing value on the board.
It's Round 2 because I'm lookingat Derek Henry, Devon A Chan,
Ashton Genti, Christian McCaffrey, Bucky Irving, Josh
(02:58):
Jacobs. All of these running backs have
elite RB-1 ceiling, if not RB, one overall ceiling.
OK, now you might say, oh, Genti's gone in the first in my
league. Mccaffrey's gone in the first in
my league. Henry went 12th overall.
I get it. Point of this is round two RB.
In a lot of leagues, you're going to see a Chan fall to two
because a lot of people don't want to take the risk.
(03:18):
You're going to see Genti fall to two because a lot of people
are afraid he hasn't touched theball yet in the NFL.
You're going to see McCaffrey fall to round two.
OK, but even if they don't, Bucky will be there, Jacobs will
be there, those players will be there.
OK, You're locking in an RB one overall contender here alongside
your monster wide receiver one. Now in round three, you guessed
it, We're continuing on the RB train, OK, and then that train's
(03:40):
going to come to a halt for a second.
But in round three, more dark horses to finish RB one overall.
Jonathan Taylor, if he plays 1514 games, could be the best
running back in fantasy. Kyron Williams slept on every
year all he does is produces a top 12 running back, Chase
Brown, the third best RB in fantasy in a full time role last
year and breeze Hall, who I'm I'm I'm a bit lower on, but in
(04:02):
this type of bill, there's an RB2 reducing his risk.
You got to be in OK dark horses to finish RB one overall right
here at this point through threerounds, you know you most likely
have the best running backs in your league. 2 top 12, two top
15 guys and that receiver. Now rounds 4 and 5 is when we
address those onesie positions. OK, and I'm going to show you
exactly how we do this in drafts.
Sometimes you can go ahead and grab a Bowers, a McBride in two,
(04:26):
right, if you're more comfortable with those R BS and
three, it all depends on where you are on the draft board, what
pick you have. But for for the sake of this
guide, OK, rounds four and five,we're going tight end in QB.
You got to go draft those early guys, those those top end guys.
Now you're not going to get JoshAllen, you're not going to get
Lamar Jackson. That's why they're not included
here. If you can, that's awesome.
But and you know you're not going to get a Bowers or a
(04:48):
McBride, that's why they're not included here because it's round
four and five. But if you can do it, OK, I'm
talking Kittle, Hawkinson, Laporta for tight ends.
I'm talking Jaden Daniels. Maybe if he falls, Jalen Hurts,
maybe if he falls. But if not, my favorite pick in
the in this round right here is Joe Burrow, Baker Mayfield,
Patrick Mahomes, Bo Nicks, OK, worst case, Kyler Murray, those
type of guys. I I know those ladder names are
(05:10):
not necessarily considered top six, top seven at the position,
but you should be able to securea borough Mahomes or Mayfield.
OK, and you'll see how this works in the mock drafts.
All right, in round 6-7 and eight.
Now we go back to the wide receiver.
Well, we're we're through 5 rounds.
We only have one wide receiver. Now this isn't super rigid where
it's like you must pick wide receiver.
I mean, if you see a running back value, come along, be my
(05:33):
guest, OK? And we'll see how the mocks play
out. But really, we're getting our
sidekicks here at the wide receiver position for our hero.
Some guys I like to target, and there's a lot of names here, but
it is covering about 36 picks inthe drafts, George Pickens,
Jalen Waddle, Jamieson Williams,Chris Gotto and Jordan Addison,
Jerry Judy, Ted McMillan, TravisHunter, Calvin Ridley, Brandon,
Iuke Myers, Samuel. Now, a lot of those guys, geez,
(05:56):
there's a a big variation of type of player there.
High ceilings, low floors, high floors, low ceilings.
OK, so we'll see. It all depends on how you build
your team. And that's why mock drafting is
so important. And then finally, guys to close
the draft out. Rounds 9 plus and I know, geez,
some of these drafts you guys are in are 20 rounds, I
understand. But really the this is for the
skeleton of your team, the 1st 9plus rounds.
(06:18):
And this is all about balancing your roster here.
Rounds 9 plus OK, if your R BS are weaker at this point, target
R BS if your tight ends, if you don't like the tight end you got
you got Hawkinson and you're like, ah, crap.
OK, maybe I'll add a Warren, a Kincaid, a Ferguson, a high high
upside player with little cost. If you're wide receivers, you
don't like them, target wide receivers.
(06:39):
OK, now let's hop into some mockdrafts.
I mean that was a pretty Quick guide and I'm just going to do a
random position. You guys know how we do it
around here. Let me hide my face Cam.
Let me hide my face Cam border. All right, so it's looking
pretty good. We are at the 102.
OK, that's what we've been assigned here.
Jamar Chase is off the board. Now typically I might go Bichon
(07:00):
Robinson here, but let's just see what we can do.
Give me Justin Jefferson. His ADP is one O 3.
We take him at the one O 2. Now we've picked our hero.
JJ is our champion. If we go back to the guide, OK
again guys, this guide is on Twitter.
This guide is on the website joericoff.com.
No expert fantasyfootball.com. We look at rounds 2, we're on
(07:23):
RB. We look at round three, we're
going RB. So at the turn here at 2:00 and
3:00, let's hope there are some good RB targets.
Now, a fair amount of the RBS that we would like to grab here
off the board. Jacobs is off the board and
Irving's off the board. I would love one of those two
guys here. Typically one of them's
available. If not, don't worry because
realistically Josh Jacobs H and they're in the same tier for me
(07:46):
as a guy like Jonathan Taylor. So let's grab Taylor here and
let's circle back in the 3rd andgrab 1 of Kyron or Chase Brown.
For the purpose of this, let's just go with Chase Brown.
I prefer him to Kyron. OK, So the advantage of maybe
being later in the second when those RB choices are not as good
is you get one of the best R BS in the third.
You know, JT and Chase Brown guys.
I mean, for me, those are two top 10 running backs.
(08:08):
Consensus is generally in on them as two top 16, top 15
running backs. Now, for example, if we had a
later pick in the third over here, sure, maybe Genti,
McCaffrey, Irving, we have one of them, right?
But then we look at who's available here at the end of the
third. We have Cook and Hall, who I
really prefer Chase Brown, KarenWilliams to cook and haul, for
example. OK, now we're entering the 4th
(08:31):
year. Excuse me, we're exiting the
4th. We're up at the 411.
And what does the strategy say? It tells us to go tight ends or
QB. I really like Mahomes this year.
I really like Knicks this year. I prefer both of those players
over Mayfield or Goff. The floor is is very high for
Mahomes. I understand the ceiling is no
longer QB one overall how it used to be.
(08:53):
And let me turn my face Cam backon here.
I understand that, OK, But most likely the pick for the QB is
going to be Mahomes here. As for tight ends, Kittle just
goes off the board before us. TJ Hawkinson, San Laporta, these
guys are on the board. I'm in on Hawkinson, but we have
Jefferson on the team. So we'll go with Laporta and
then we'll come back and we'll grab Mahomes.
OK, so looking at the roster now, the floor of this team, it
(09:16):
is a high floor build. Mahomes, who I would be honestly
pretty shocked if he's not a topeight, top six QB.
We have Laporta, who closed the season last year as one of the
best tight ends in fantasy. OK?
We have two top 12 running backsand then we have Justin
Jefferson, our hero to top it off, coming back to us in the
6th. The guide says to go ahead.
(09:37):
Let me just double check the guide, but I believe it says to
go ahead and hammer the wide receiver position.
It does. Let's add some sidekicks for
wide receiver. OK, a quick look at the running
backs on the board. You can see why we're going wide
receiver here. When Aaron Jones, Tyrone Tracy,
Tony Pollard of the options, yougot to go wide receiver.
OK, Now potentially we could have waited a bit on QB and grab
(09:58):
the bone Nicks here because I dohave bone Nicks higher than
Patrick Mahomes. So that's why we mock draft,
right? Next draft, potentially I wait a
little bit and I draft bone Nicks in the 6th or the 7th and
I go earlier with a wide receiver or in a Marian Hampton,
someone like that. OK, a Sutton here in the fifth,
maybe that. OK, before the purpose of this,
let's stick to the guide. We're going to be hammering wide
receivers to this team. I'll be adding Jacoby Myers very
(10:21):
high floor and let's go ahead with a guy with a bit of a
higher ceiling aroma Doonese, who I don't know if the floor is
there, but if all works out, BenJohnson coming to Chicago, Caleb
Williams taking a step. I do think of Doonese is the
most well-rounded pass catcher on the team, very high ceiling
player, probably a guy who will start on the bench for us Week
1, but that's OK. Round 8 coming back to us.
(10:43):
Let's keep hammering out these wide receivers.
Josh Downs, welcome to the team. And I'm just going to take
another one honestly here. I know the guide called for
Round 9, beginning to look at RBS and assessing the roster.
And I'm happy I did that becauseat RB, we have a gift, Caleb
Johnson, an absolute gift. So our RBS are JT, Chase Brown
and Caleb Johnson, Our wide receivers are Jefferson as the
hero, Myers, O Doonese and Downs.
(11:07):
I like the RB group more. OK, let's keep looking at wide
receiver to finish this because realistically JJ is our rock.
We just need guys filling in a constant cycle.
OK, one performance well Week 11performance well Week 2.
We trade them for a true wide receiver to a Mike Evans or
someone like that, and you just continuously cycle these wide
receivers. So right now, as I said, I like
(11:29):
the wide receivers a bit less than I like my running backs.
So we're back at wide receiver here in Round 10, McMillan, Joan
Jennings, IGBUCA, all great picks.
Give me IGBUCA here and then coming back, I'd love to get a
Joan Jennings. There he is.
So you're telling me that in this format, right where we have
two starting wide receivers and two flexes that one of or excuse
(11:51):
me, that two or three of Myers or Doonese downs, IGBUCA and
Jennings are not going to provide value under JJI.
Don't believe you because every other position on our team is
absolutely perfect with a high floor 0 risk, really honestly,
not a lot of risk. Mahomes, Taylor Brown, Laporta,
OK, and if one of these receivers, if O Doonese takes a
step, goes crazy, top 12 finish top 15.
(12:12):
It's possible our roster is fantastic, OK, so now closing it
out 12th and 13th, we have Hunter Henry on the board as the
top flex option and we don't need another tight ends, OK,
Wide receivers, we have Keenan Allen, Amari Cooper, those guys
aren't on teams. Kyle Williams.
I like that pick a lot, but maybe we go back over to running
back with Jaden Blue. We'll add him to the team and
then we'll take a Trey Benson, OK, to close the team out.
(12:34):
So that's the first mock. That was an early position.
Let's try to move it back to theback half of the draft here in
round one and see what we can do.
All right? Or maybe even the middle, OK.
This team ends with Mahomes, Jonathan Taylor, Chase Brown.
I love that. I love that core with Justin
Jefferson as the hero. Fantastic.
OK, we have Jacoby Myers at the wide receiver 2 high floor,
(12:55):
underrated player Sam Laporta, who I think is a bit slept on in
drafts at flex. We have a doomsday in downs, but
really that's going to be a rotation of those two guys with
Caleb Johnson and Mecca Buca, Juan Jennings, Jaden Blue and
Trey Benson probably put Jennings in the week 1 or Caleb
Johnson in the week 1 roster over a doomsday there.
Nonetheless, let's do another mock draft here.
All right, and let's just go. I feel like I rarely draft from
(13:18):
the middle of the board. Let's go ahead and do a 6th
overall pick here and I'll remove my face Cam so you guys
can see the end. Let's go 6th overall here.
We're going wide receiver. OK, we have Brown and St.
Brown, excuse me, of Chase and St.
Brown off the board. Now Jefferson's available again.
His ADP is third overall. We have the one O 6.
I think it's a little unrealistic.
(13:39):
So let's go CD Lam, whose ADP isactually 6th overall.
So we start the draft with Lam and we come back around.
Let's already just look at the running back options here.
Bowers goes 111. Very interesting pick there by
the computer. Let's take a look here at the
running back options. And sure enough, Ashton Genti's
still available now. Now he fell a lot.
I mean, a lot of times he's going to go in that first round.
(14:01):
But again, Jacobs was on the board.
Irving went one pick before us. So just just view that pick as a
as an RB-1, whoever it is. OK, back on the board here.
Kyron Williams staring us in theface in the third.
So we've started with Lamb, Genti and Williams.
I mean that core is very, very good.
If we come back around here and Joe Burrow's on.
(14:21):
OK, so Joe Burrow's taken at four O 3.
Thank goodness because it was about to get serious in here.
It was about to get serious. With that being said, Kittle is
on the board. Kittle's joining the team here.
OK, so now we have 2 running backs who could finish as the
best running back in fantasy. If you don't think Karen can,
then yeah, I've been watching the last two years.
He can. We have CD Lamb.
Who could, I mean, he just mightbe the best wide receiver in
(14:45):
fantasy. And we have George Kittle, who
like basically is one of the best tight ends in fantasy.
Like this team, this build from the middle here, Lamb, Genti,
Williams and Kittle is very good.
Now in the fifth previous draft, right?
I advised in the 5th to go QB. But if you recall, I liked what
happens right later in the draftat QB in round 678 with Nix.
(15:06):
OK. I think a guy like Nix, Murray,
Herbert can do what Mahomes willdo, can do what Baker Mayfield
will do. So let's wait.
OK, let's wait. And again, This is why you have
to draft. It's very important that you
guys are mock drafting. You see what you like, you see
what you don't. You try in the next draft, you
take notes, you're in your notesapp telling yourself, writing
notes to yourself. So on draft day, you have a
(15:26):
study guide, a complete SparkNotes of what you should be
doing on draft day. OK, so in the 5th rounds, I'm a
little intrigued here by the wide receiver options.
Yes, Xavier Worthy, Jalen Waddle, George Pickens, Jameson
Williams. That's a sweet spot for that and
we would be going wide receiver in the 6th.
So let's go ahead and draft 1 ofWaddle Worthy or Pickens.
(15:49):
I'll tell you what guys, I really like Pickens.
He would be the pick here, but we have Lamb.
So let's go ahead and draft Worthy.
Finished the season last year asa true monster for Kansas City
and continued into the playoffs and he is the perfect wide
receiver 2 underneath a guy likeLamb.
Just a high ceiling, bit of a lower, lower floor option.
Now back in the 6th, we'll startto consider QB, but again, I
(16:10):
just want to wait. Goff and Nicks, OK, and Murray
AD PS ranking from 85th overall to 91st overall.
I'm just waiting on those guys. OK, looking at RB, I'm avoiding
the dead zone. Pacheco, Harvey, Tracy, Pollard.
I'm avoiding this OK, Until we start to see names like Judkins,
Henderson, Swift. OK, I'm avoiding RB, so back to
the wide receiver. Well, Jerry Judy, Chris Godwin,
(16:33):
Travis Hunter, we're going to goJerry Judy, who a lot of people
don't realize guys last year. Jerry Judy, 12th best wide
receiver in all the fantasy football with rotating QB play
and I don't know if the QB is going to be much better this
year, but hopefully a man can dream.
We're back up in the 7th. I'm still looking at Bonex.
Kyler Murray, Justin Herbert. You notice I'm not mentioning
Jared Goff. Not a big fan this year.
(16:54):
OK, we're going to go QB here and give me Bonex.
We've been drafting a lot of Bonex lately and that's because
rookie season QB 7 guys and you didn't really get cooking until
about 6-7 weeks in. Very, very much in on Knicks
over Mahomes over over Mayfield over golf, very high on Bo
Knicks. And now let's compare our units
(17:16):
here in the eighth round. Our wide receivers are Lamb,
Worthy, and Judy and we have Genti and Kyron at RB so we can
use another RB. And here we are, Caleb Johnson
right on the squad in the 8th. I'm really liking how this team
is turning out. I mean, this, this is arguably
the perfect draft for me. I look at this draft, I don't
think anything could have gone better at this point.
I really don't. We're back on the clock in the
(17:38):
9th rounds. We're constantly comparing our
units. Do we like our R BS more?
Do we like our wide receivers more?
At RB, we have Gentie, we have Williams and we have Caleb
Johnson that's very strong. At wide receiver, we have Lamb,
Worthy and Judy also very strong.
But I do think wide receiver is a bit weaker.
And lo and behold, Josh Downs iswaiting for us there.
OK, we'll speed through these following rounds 10 through 13
(17:58):
and really what we're doing is we're just constantly weighing
what position group do we like better.
We'll take a peek at tight ends here.
Kincaid is on the board and he'sgoing to join the team because
like it or not, Kittle is up there in age.
He has a tendency besides last year to miss a few games of
season and Kincaid is a bit of abreakout candidate here.
I know it's year 3, but I still he still think he has more to
show. We're constantly now just
(18:20):
scanning the board for value, Jawan Jennings and Mecca Buka.
Now let's go ahead and draft Jaden Higgins.
I like what I'm seeing out of camp.
I think he's going to be a nice compliment to Nico Collins in
Houston. We'll come back around here in
the 12th after Higgins in the 11th.
I don't love the R BS on the board.
Dobbins, Eckler, Ford, Mace, I don't love them.
OK, and we'll go ahead and draftTrey Harris.
How could he not? I think he's drafted
(18:41):
specifically to the Chargers to be that wide receiver 2 that
they want so, so bad. Finally, final pick of the draft
here in the 13th, Jaden Blues onthe board, Gorendo, Ray Davis,
we've taken a lot of him. Let's just go Dylan Sampson, one
of my favorite players to draft late in the draft.
This squad guys, was an A+ draft.
Absolute A+ draft for us here. Bonex at QB, Gentian Williams at
(19:02):
our RB spots, CD Lamb and Worthyat the wide receiver spots,
Kittle at tight end, Jerry Judy and Caleb Johnson in the flex
and then rotating in for those guys, OK on the bench, Josh
Downs, Dalton Kincaid, Jaden Higgins, Trey Harris and Dylan
Sampson. I hope this helps guys.
You really can use this strategyfrom anywhere on the board.
It would work if we did a late pick as well.
If we kind of just look at the board real quick, you're you're
(19:23):
probably getting a guy like neighbors Nico Collins and then
you're starting off with the McCaffrey.
Then coming out of the third you're looking at a brief, a
James Cook, maybe a Walker if you like him a little bit more.
It works anywhere on the board guys.
I hope you enjoyed the video Today we're not stop the grind.
The grind is not stopping, ladies and gentlemen.
So stay tuned, follow everywhereyou can.
All right, Peace.
